Hi,
I have a Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and the battery gets really hot and then the screen starts flickering and eventually goes out. I was wondering if anyone else has had or heard of this issue?

While doing what sort of activity at what brightness level? There is s flickering issue that isn't necessarily related to heat which is why I'm asking. .

These things are rated save to use up to 80ºC, so unless it reaches near-melting temperatures, something else is probably wrong.
There are a couple of threads on screen flickering issues. Primarily concentrated issue on the WiFi and AT&T models.
It has also become a bit of a trend for people to say 'It gets really scalding hot', whilst it turns out to only be around 40ºC. That is not hot. That's normal for a device with a powerhouse CPU and no fans.
Use CPU-Z to get the actual battery temp. 25-45C is perfectly normal, 50-60C in heavy usage is also normal (Games, for instance).
This primarily happens when playing games or watching video's on it. It seems like the processor/battery gets hot and then all of a sudden the screen starts going crazy.
Enable developer options and disable hardware overlays within there. It has been said that this should fix the flickering in video playback.
Be aware that when you reboot the tablet you will have to disable hardware overlays again.
If you're rooted and have TWRP, clearing cache and dalvic will resolve the flickering for a period of time (days) without having to dive into developer options.

Hi , i was having the same problem and now the device is unable to turn on at all , please help me because there are no samsung service center near to me. :crying:

Once the hardware overlay issue was mentioned, I looked for instructions on how to turn hardware overlays off on the Galaxy tab (Which where hard to find). Here are the instructions and so far, it looks like it is working for me:

To fix flickering in video:

Thanks for your reply , i did what u have mentioned in the begening of my problem and no thing has changed , now after a month from the first time where my screen starts flickring the device is not turning on it is like a device with no battery it just show me the battery charging when it's off.
do you advise me to buy a new battery and replace my note pro battery??

I am having a similar problem with my Note Pro. It ussualy starts when the battery is down to 60%. The screen starts flickering and then I get a message saying the SD card is corrupt or not formatted. Sometimes it locks up as well. Sometimes when I plug the charger in to tells me "charging is suspended due to high battery temp.". The device is warm but not extreamly hot. If I turn the device off and let it charge, once the battery charge comes up to 70% I can turn it back on and everything works fine. As long as I keep it charged to over 60 - 70% I never have a problem. I tried several different SD cards but that doesn't seem to be the problem.
I have contacted Samsung but the only response I have gotten from them is "have you done a factory reset?".
Not sure what to try next. Anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry I missed this, I am not on here very often, I am back because the Note 7 is coming out. I have never replaced the battery on mine, so I am not sure. Apparently replacing the battery has worked for some people. I ended up sending the Note Pro to Samsung 2 times under warranty and the problem was not fixed.
Finally I called their support back a 3rd time near the end of the warranty period and said: Listen, I have send this *** to your repair department 2 times already. I want one that actually works sent back to me. They sent me a Note Pro in an un-marked (maybe a re-furb box?) with some sort of bar code sticker on the back of it.
Since then, this different Note Pro has worked for the most part, but every so often it has minor issues with it getting hot and the battery loosing charge, but it is not as bad as the one I bought. I really think Samsung dropped the ball on that tablet and they are lucky I just got a Tab E.
Definitely not my experience with the Note Pro. Mine has been rock solid for 2 years now, I still rack up a minimum of 2 hours of screen on time per day 7 days a week, and quite often more than that.
Just an FYI that there has been threads posted about screen flickering and battery issues that document issues with the battery connection and how to resolve them (involves opening the back and resoldering the battery terminal). Definitely something that you'd think Samsung would do but doesn't always do it . .
My tablet had the same screen flickering and getting hot problem. I solved the issue by soldering the battery connector in the motherboard. If you look at post #10 of this thread you will see a very good photo posted by Beut of the tiny black connector that seems to be failing. Other users report that the white battery connector also causes problems. In my case it was the black one, I soldered it a month ago and the problem was resolved.
I'm using CN X2 Pro, 2 weeks old. I noticed that I get 1-2 seconds of ghosting/screen burn from the always on display when I unlock the phone. I still see the dark numbers on my light background. This fades after 1-2 seconds but I've never noticed this on other phones with AoD's? Do you think it's a sign my display might suffer in the future?
I have the same issue with AOD turn on, there is a ghost effect and disappear after few second. I found if you choose dimmer clock color, there is no issue. So, try switch to different clock style, try avoid those white color clock.

Hello. I think its's because of AMOLED screen.
I started getting it with AOD after updating to Android/ColorOS 11.
Previously, the AOD would move around the screen so it didn't happen.
I've had to turn off AOD because of this.
And what do you do? Send to service or something?

Interesting. Yes, prolonged static displays should be avoided.
AMOLED screens do not suffer from burn in. They degrade over time from usage.
They have a long but finite life span.
High screen intensity is the biggest degradation accelerant plus time. High heat ie sunlight should be avoided when possible.
The highest energy blue pixels burn out first, lowest energy red pixels last.
Damage shouldn't be observable in a screen so new. These screens are rated for thousands of hours.
The ghosting may be a firmware glitch and nothing more.
Avoid using over 50% intensity except when needed.
Don't use in direct sunlight except briefly.
Make use of black wallpapers and dark mode as much as possible. Whites and blues should cause the most damage. Reds the least.

A hard reset will do nothing but waste your time and patience.
If you really have damaged pixels, warranty as the display is likely defective.
If it's not actual physical damage only a firmware update can fix it. It may take months or never come at all. So again, I send it back either to be fixed, replaced with a new unit or a 100% cash refund. Nothing less.

I guess I will only send the problem is that I bought it abroad and it will probably take two months

That sucks. If the problem is physical it may degrade rapidly; a new display shouldn't have these symptoms.

if there is a bright point, you can see it for about 5 seconds on a gray background. the brighter the screen is, the clearer it is. after a while it disappears

Sounds like hardware. Either way unacceptable.

Some while ago my oneplus 7pro felt from the stairs. The backside is complety broken, but the frontscreen was ok because of the screenprotector.
After a while i noticed 'a lot' of dead pixels on the lower left side of the screen. The phone was still usable so i didn't bother about it.
Suddenly during normal use, my screen started flickering and my screen went off. It seemed that the screen was devided in 2 where the notificationbar was on the same height of the broken screen pixels.
I could see some things, but with a green film. But not possible of unlocking the screen.
I tought that the screen was completly broken and i moved to a spare phone.
I still hoped that the screen would do some sort of a reset when I let the battery completely drain, charge a bit and try again.
I checked almost every day on what percentage. But when it was on 13% (or nearby that %) the screen was working again like nothing happened before. I tought it was working again and charged it.
Because it worked again on a low percentage, I tought it may be a lower refreshrate of some sort of stuff that is on during battery save mode.
I left it charging some small time, tried again and screen was broken again.
I tought it was a lucky shot, so i didn't bothered again about the phone.
Yesterday i checked my phone again out of curiosity, and guess what, it was working again.
So I'd like to know what might cause it to work again on low battery. I lowered the resolution and refresh rate already.
Anyone who got an idea?
Nothing short of taking the phone to a repair shop will restore your phone to normal.
It's just going to get worse, there's nothing you can do to stop the progression, short of a repair & even then, you're probably throwing good money after bad, considering the type of damage incurred.

Can't be sure, my guess is some voltage leakage on higher voltage and short the screen somehow. If you can try de assemble and re assemble the phone. Just my guesses.
I suppose the higher the voltage the phone is able to provide the screen the worse it's going to get. Send it to OnePlus. Don't get it done independently, they cost way more
Hello! I replaced my battery with a genuine one yesterday. The phone worked fine for a few hours. Then it started showing a white frame with a green line once in a minute. After that it progressively worsened in the course of two hours. It went through green screen with numerous green horizontal lines, completely black screen and a black screen with a few green lines. Now the screen is completely black and shows the lockscreen for a few milliseconds when locking/unlocking and now this is a permanent state. It is not going better. The only way I am able to use the phone now is through Dex and scrcpy.
The screen has no cracks and the phone has never been dropped. Which is strange, because it really looks like a hardware issue. There is no water damage as well.
I would like to know what may be the cause and I will be grateful if you could suggest any temporary or permanent solutions.
Currently I have tried the safe mode, oled saver, min and max brightness in the hope of being a software issue and still no luck.

Are you certain that the replacement batter is the original OEM battery with the same specs and ratings as the stock battery or is it a higher rated aftermarket battery with "OEM design"?
If replacing your battery required opening the device and exposing the hardware to remove the battery, you may have damaged other parts of the hardware without realizing it.
From your description, your display is fried, probably due to the battery not being compatible or due to something internally making contact that shouldn't be making contact or due to the ribbon being damaged or slightly pulled loose while changing the battery and eventually completely disconnected after replacing the battery and reassembling the device.
Either way, it is definitely a hardware issue.

my problem is any time im using the phone for facebook whatsapp and regular stuff with regular use (not even hard use at all)
the screen dimm to much cause the phone is warm
if i turn on the extra brightness its dimm alot faster with minimum use
so i i never used the extra brightness but always on the full brightness but i always use minimum use and the screen is dimm
any solution or its like that???? (the phone is ok i had 1 before and it was the same)
i have no case nothing i never pleyed games with my phone just regular use....any tips for what to do or this is how the phone act?

sounds like you have some sort battery saver turned on, have you checked in settings? this is not normal behaviour.

sure man i never use battery saver always full brightness all the way up then the phone get hit very easy and dim the screen the temperature outside is around 25 c

On the Flip 4 I use the Adaptive Brightness "on" setting, and Dark Mode. Your results may vary, but here's what I've seen.
In the summer, on a sunny day, I'll notice that the phone will automatically try to be as bright as possible, so the screen is readable. (I'm pretty sure when this happens the quick display panel's screen brightness slider color changes to orange. Maybe the color depends on the wallpaper/color palette.) And I never see the screen do this "extra bright" thing indoors. Only outside and only in direct sunshine.
So far so good. I think this is as everyone expects the phone to operate.
Given all this, sometimes I'll notice the screen brightness will vary, even though I'm still outside and still in the same brilliant sunshine. I've noticed this commonly when checking Google News, and for example, I'm reading a story and scrolling slowly through the article. In particular when the screen is mostly black text on a white background.
So, in this situation, that is, a largely bright background, in the bright sun, my phone will both:
Get warm to the touch, on the back-side of the phone, where the two batteries are, but not up where the cameras, CPU and memory are located. This makes sense because "scrolling text" isn't that demanding on the CPU, but I am driving the OLED screen hard.
Also the front of the phone (the OLED screen itself) can feel warm. Even in the screen's crease, away from the battery. Since the image is mostly white, all the OLED dots are "on" and give off heat. Then again, I'm in brilliant sunshine and almost any surface will get warm.
Further, I'll notice that the phone screen will automatically get dimmer after a bit of time (perhaps a minute or two of extra-bright before the dimming). This I attribute to the software doing one, or both of:
Dialing back the screen brightness, to prevent OLED burn-in.
Dialing down the power usage by the screen, to prolong battery life and/or limit the battery temperature.
What's more, after little more time, still in the same bright lighting conditions, perhaps reading the same story, the screen might be noticeably extra-bright again. It's as if the phone has given the display "a rest" and is willing to go "extra bright" again.
In short, I think the phone screen is trying hard to be brilliant in the brightest of sunshine. But there are limits in how hard you can drive an OLED screen, and how long the battery can power the screen.
All of this before we start to talk about what design limits come into effect when the CPU or graphics processing come into play, both or which compete for:
Power from the battery, and
The ability of the phone to keep itself cool.
This phone's form-factor is all about folding in half. A slab form-factor phone, I suspect, will be far more capable for heavy CPU, graphics, and provide a bigger battery and better heat disipation.
