has it happened to anyone to fix it? after warming up the screen is fine but when it cools down it still works. help.
Hello,
I have a similar problem, but mine is about three quarter black. I will try to describe the problem in a more detailed way. My good old Galaxy S7 served me well for a couple of years, but recently produced a weird behavior with the display. It started with some flickering and now and then some thin black horizontal lines. After a while the lower part of the display turned black, finally resulting in the lower three quart of the display remaining black.
After a clean swipe of the cache and a factory reset the display became normal again and remained so after a couple of hours reinstalling apps, passwords, etc. Even after a short while standby, the display returned to normal. However after a prolonged standby time of a couple of hours the display became three-quarter black again. A new factory reset resolved the screen trouble, but again after a prolonged standby the trouble reappeared.
To me this does not look as a hardware problem, but it might be a firmware glitch. Has anyone seen a similar problem with the S7 and could it be resolved with flashing the firmware? Any ideas where I can find a reliable firmware version and eventual suitable Android (now 8 installed) version for the S7? Preferable with a decent installation description. Most downloads I have found seem to offer a manual in Sanskrit and are hard to understand for other people than the guy that wrote it.
Appreciating your help.
Greeting,
Dave

After using my used Treo 750, WM 6, AT&T for about two months, it started experiencing the screen problem. Upon hard reset, the screen would respond to the first tap, and be almost unresponsive to the calibration. I had to press repeatedly very firmly. Went through a couple of hard resets and it didn't get better.
The screen would respond find for a while and then start working. I thought that I had it all taken care of and was working well yesterday until the afternoon rolled around. It started being unresponsive again. After a hard reset, it would respond to the first touch and then calibration barely worked.
Finally, I was able to get into it and installed Palm's Device Reset and ran it. It has since then been calibrating fine. I'm only using it bare bones right now and won't be able to test it more in depth until this weekend to see if the problem is resolved.
I did notice using SKTooks that the gwes.exe process was running at a high percentage while this was occurring, near 40-50 % when it is running at 0% now.
Any thoughts? ANyone tried the device reset at:

Hi , I'm having the same problem wit my Treo . Did you solve your problem?
Hey Davidoff,
For quite a while, mine acted up, so much that I bought a used Wizard to replace it. Even after performing the device reset as I noted above, it would still be unresponsive at times, with the GWES.exe process (as shown by SKTools) running much higher.
For a while, I let it set without it's battery (perhaps a week) and then reinserted, fully charged it and immediately disabled ALL today plugins. So far, it has been running great but I'm very tentative to switch back to it as my primary phone, even though I love it.
I'm wondering if you can try disabling your today screen plug-ins, set the screen backlight to dim at one minute and the device to auto-off at one minute and see if this helps to resolve the issue. I'm curious as to whether any of those three combinations made a difference in mine, or have just bought time until it acts up again.
Anyways, I'd be interested to learn your results.
Brian
Hi,
I have a Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and the battery gets really hot and then the screen starts flickering and eventually goes out. I was wondering if anyone else has had or heard of this issue?
Thank you, Snow
While doing what sort of activity at what brightness level? There is s flickering issue that isn't necessarily related to heat which is why I'm asking. .

These things are rated save to use up to 80ºC, so unless it reaches near-melting temperatures, something else is probably wrong.
There are a couple of threads on screen flickering issues. Primarily concentrated issue on the WiFi and AT&T models.
It has also become a bit of a trend for people to say 'It gets really scalding hot', whilst it turns out to only be around 40ºC. That is not hot. That's normal for a device with a powerhouse CPU and no fans.
Use CPU-Z to get the actual battery temp. 25-45C is perfectly normal, 50-60C in heavy usage is also normal (Games, for instance).
This primarily happens when playing games or watching video's on it. It seems like the processor/battery gets hot and then all of a sudden the screen starts going crazy.
Enable developer options and disable hardware overlays within there. It has been said that this should fix the flickering in video playback.
Be aware that when you reboot the tablet you will have to disable hardware overlays again.
If you're rooted and have TWRP, clearing cache and dalvic will resolve the flickering for a period of time (days) without having to dive into developer options.

Hi IbrahimGla,
Once the hardware overlay issue was mentioned, I looked for instructions on how to turn hardware overlays off on the Galaxy tab (Which where hard to find). Here are the instructions and so far, it looks like it is working for me:
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
To fix flickering in video:
Enable developer options in settings (go to about device and tap Build Number 7+ times).
In developer options, under hardware-accelerated rendering, check "turn off hardware overlays". You can also check "force GPU rendering", but I've found the former is all that's necessary.

Thanks for your reply , i did what u have mentioned in the begening of my problem and no thing has changed , now after a month from the first time where my screen starts flickring the device is not turning on it is like a device with no battery it just show me the battery charging when it's off.
do you advise me to buy a new battery and replace my note pro battery??
Thank you & sorry for my bad english
I am having a similar problem with my Note Pro. It ussualy starts when the battery is down to 60%. The screen starts flickering and then I get a message saying the SD card is corrupt or not formatted. Sometimes it locks up as well. Sometimes when I plug the charger in to tells me "charging is suspended due to high battery temp.". The device is warm but not extreamly hot. If I turn the device off and let it charge, once the battery charge comes up to 70% I can turn it back on and everything works fine. As long as I keep it charged to over 60 - 70% I never have a problem. I tried several different SD cards but that doesn't seem to be the problem.
I have contacted Samsung but the only response I have gotten from them is "have you done a factory reset?".
Not sure what to try next. Anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry I missed this, I am not on here very often, I am back because the Note 7 is coming out. I have never replaced the battery on mine, so I am not sure. Apparently replacing the battery has worked for some people. I ended up sending the Note Pro to Samsung 2 times under warranty and the problem was not fixed.
Finally I called their support back a 3rd time near the end of the warranty period and said: Listen, I have send this *** to your repair department 2 times already. I want one that actually works sent back to me. They sent me a Note Pro in an un-marked (maybe a re-furb box?) with some sort of bar code sticker on the back of it.
Since then, this different Note Pro has worked for the most part, but every so often it has minor issues with it getting hot and the battery loosing charge, but it is not as bad as the one I bought. I really think Samsung dropped the ball on that tablet and they are lucky I just got a Tab E.
Definitely not my experience with the Note Pro. Mine has been rock solid for 2 years now, I still rack up a minimum of 2 hours of screen on time per day 7 days a week, and quite often more than that.
Just an FYI that there has been threads posted about screen flickering and battery issues that document issues with the battery connection and how to resolve them (involves opening the back and resoldering the battery terminal). Definitely something that you'd think Samsung would do but doesn't always do it . .
My tablet had the same screen flickering and getting hot problem. I solved the issue by soldering the battery connector in the motherboard. If you look at post #10 of this thread you will see a very good photo posted by Beut of the tiny black connector that seems to be failing. Other users report that the white battery connector also causes problems. In my case it was the black one, I soldered it a month ago and the problem was resolved.
Hi all,
Hope somebody can shed some light on this issue I'm facing. This is my first ever post. All your input will be very much appreciated.
I purchased this S7 Edge DUOS (Dual sim version) around 8 weeks ago. Around 3 weeks into my ownership, I've started facing a persistent issue which I've tried to resolve with the best of my knowledge but unfortunately I haven't succeeded.
Randomly the phone will freeze for around 5 to 10 seconds and then restart. Sometimes a pixelated set of lines would appear across the screen when it freezes, a lot of the times they are green.
When the phone does reboot and I return back to the main screen, everything is back to normal and the apps I was using remain opened in the background, so it's not a proper reboot.
There is no such pattern on when this happens, it happens while being used on any app and a lot of the times it reboots while the phone is in my pocket. The only reason I realise is because the phone will be on the startup lock screen.
Battery life seems okay, nothing seems to be draining the battery. Although sometimes it does get hot and drains it temporarily.
I have cleared cache partition, done a factory reset and deleted third party apps. Nothing has resolved the issue. When I did the factory reset, the phone didn't crash for a good few days then started doing it again.
I just cannot work out what it may be and it's getting really frustrating!
I really hope somebody can shed some light on this, I am trying to avoid going down the return route.
Many Thanks in advance for all your help.
Hassan
Hi my mate had the exact taste problem with his s7 Edge single dim version, it woody of freeze and reboot and pixilated just as u explained and turned out his phone his cpu overheated and this was the result of it, he then returned it to Samsung and he received a brand new handset so best is to maybe return it as it sounds to be a faulty handset.

Hey, I m facing problem of nexus 5 black screen issue it turns on but nothing shows on display...(display tested works, and flex cable also replaced)
Can anyone help in this??
There is no display in fastboot mode either?
If you are sure the display connecting cables work, sounds like a motherboard problem.
I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but I thought it would be easier to post in here since I seem to be having a similar issue. I can't figure out if it is software-related or hardware-related.
I recently updated my Nexus 5 to Lineage OS 14.1 (11/7/17) and my screen began glitching. After an indeterminate length of time, my screen starts bugging out - the touchscreen won't register any touches, pixels get glitched and then it usually goes black. Sometimes the display will reset itself, and other times it will stay just black. Now the odd thing is if I force a reset by holding the power button down, I can get it to reboot and usually it fixes the issue... briefly. I've noticed sometimes however that even the boot animations will glitch out too, but by the time it gets to my home screen it's just fine, again for an indeterminate amount of time
The phone was bought used from Swappa probably almost a year ago now. Worked great up until now, I'm sure it's been dropped before both by me and the previous owner, but the screen itself from the outside doesn't show any signs of damage (No cracks, scratches).
I've since gone back to an early October build of LOS14.1 that wasn't giving me any issues like this, but I'm still getting them. So I'm leaning towards it being a very odd hardware issue or maybe I need to Factory Reset and dirty flashing updates is catching up to me.
I have had this phone for one week and unfortunately have a problem with the small display on the cover. The display intermittently crashes and you are no longer able to see the time, charge status, signal strength, or any notifications without restarting the phone. Interestingly the crash does not affect the display of charging info when it is on the wireless charger. I am working with Samsung to get this resolved and they have assured me that they will replace the phone if necessary. So far they have tried wiping the cache, and having it re-imaged at one of their authorized repair sites with no success. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this issue or have an idea about what could be causing it. BTW...... I really love this phone otherwise.

I have observed the same issue. I've noticed that it recovers eventually but it is annoying as well. I called the premier service but they have not acknowledged it is a software bug yet. They had me factory reset but I am still observing the same.
I can also confirm it is not due to the case they ship with, nor the leather case, or finger grime that may be conflicting with the capacitive sensor. The rest of the phone knows the main screen is closed. My suspicion (speculation) is that it is the software as the cover display is really the only new hardware portion, in regards to most of the components from S10 parts bin, or Fold screen tech which has been pretty mature from a design standpoint.
Love the phone, hope they they can resolve this in an update sooner or later. Please let us know if its common to all.
Thanks.
I have the same issue. Been using the phone for about 12 days and the cover screen goes bonkers. It will appear some time but only clock and battery life, can't use it for notifications nor calls nor selfie camera. Plus open phone to answer is not functioning
This is my second Z-Flip - had the original one on release day and now the 5g version. Yesterday, out of nowhere (for the first time on either phone) the cover screen went blank. It works still (I can change songs and answer calls, for example) but the screen is black. This is 100% a software issue. Called Samsung 'premier' which puts you in the line for normal support, when they pick up they transfer you to premier (makes no sense). They suggest a factory reset. Odd thing is 2 calls today actually showed on the display. No rhyme or reason. I have tried powering down, restart, and safe mode. Very frustrating.
I'm also having this issue, I had a different issue in the past where the phone would not recognise when it was opened or closed and just behaved like a regular smartphone with screen on off. The cover screen also came on at the same time as the main screen so basically the phone thought both were one display.
This time I am getting the issue as above, the screen is black, pressing power does not bring it up (always, sometimes it will randomly show and I can use it, before a factory reset I just did it wouldn't be functional as touch only worked halfway, I could drag it left or right but it would just stay where it was, thinking my finger was still on it.) if I press the power repeatedly sometimes it shows, sometimes it shows offset so only half the display lights up and has moved everything to that side and cropped it. It's completely a software bug, my phone has no scratches or dents and is in great condition. It's a newish model as my original Z Flip got replaced by my network by a 5G model.
