Card sim randomly not found - General Questions and Answers

Hi everyone,
I've installed Havoc OS GSI on my mobile phone (a Blackview BV6800 Pro) and the OS is wonderful. However randomly my card sim isn't recognized anymore. It displays that "no card sim is found". I joined some screenshots.
I notice that it occurs mostly when I want to call someone, write a SMS or when I go to a place where there is not a lot of network (but not everytime in these all cases). I also notice that this bug never occurs during a call!
To solve my problem I need to reboot my phone. If I use my phone a lot I need to reboot a lot and at contrary I don't need to reboot a lot if I sued only a little the phone to call or send SMS.
I see that some people changed their build.prop but I never found these files I don't think I've this kind of settings.
Thank you in advance for your help!

You have a build.prop, all android does. It is in the system partition, you will need a file manager app that has a root explorer in order to access and modify the build.prop.

Maybe it's not implied by the build.prop. How can I test that? Is there any log stored somewhere?

[Q] cant import sim contacts

hello
im a new member here(old watcher xD), and this is my first post, i would hate to make it about asking for help instead of saying hi but im having this problem/s for a while now and its really getting on my nerves, (please excuse my mistakes since english is not my first language)
here is the story:
i bought at&t locked atrix 2 (GSM), bought unlock code and did long research for the last couple of days about the whole android OS roms (IOS user )
and im using the phone now (unlocked) with our carrier Etisalat and it works great but my problems are as follows:
1- it always connect to 4g which i think is consuming more battery and sometimes the coverage is weak so i wish to turn it to 2g or at least 3g if 2g not possible (tried to change it from settings but the option is grayed and also downloaded apps and widgets and still the same)
2-whenever i reboot the phone or close it and then open it, i get a notification that says: "sim card full, delete messages to free space"(every single time), and i have no messages at all (in the sim and outside the sim) and i only have 52 contacts in the sim, which leads us to my third problem
3- i have contacts in the sim but i cant import them because accoring to the phone "there is no contacts on your sim card", and the funny part is i can access them from the same phone thru an app called SIM Toolkit (not sure but i think it comes embedded inside the sim) but the app does not import them or make me copy them, just watch them and if i want i can write them on paper xD, and also it show that the sim can contain 2000 name
200 email
200 number
all of them are empty except the names field which has 52 name.
by the way those three problems have traveled with me thru the roms xD
stock, supercharged, supercharged v2, stock deoxed, and finally victory(the best ) so i dont think its a problem with the roms.
also i tried to leave the AT&T bloatware but nothing changed.
i hope i can find the solution/s with you guys & sorry for the long paragraph.
Bump
up, perhaps someone would know something useful.
I had the same problem with the phone not reading the contacts on the sim card. What I did was install a free app call Sim Contacts from google play. I selected all the contacts and from the app setting, selected batch operation to "batch copy to phone contacts" However if you reset the data on your phone, it needs to be done again. I hope this help.
Thanks ))
thanks for the help, and i did try to use several programs (yours included)but non worked.
anyway i tried to take the sim and use it on my old nokia phone and after couple tries it finally showed up that there is messages in the sim and i deleted the hell out of them xD and when i returned the sim, the phone never showed up that message again and not only that but it also made the contacts visible to the phone and i could import them and everything worked out )))
however there is still the first problem not solved yet and any help would be truly appreciated ?
why is the choice of changing the network type (4g,3g,2g) greyed out ?
finally solved all the problems
it really saddens me that no one tried to help me except one (has my sincere gratitude) and i finally found a solution to my problem with changing the network type, the sad thing is that no one helped me out (yep im b!#@%ing about it), the good or even funny thing is that i found the solution here in the forums by other XDA members (after 4 hours or searching), and im posting this now because someone else might be needing help regarding this subject:

[Q] [HELP] Heat and signal problems on ZTE V970

Hi to all, I'm writing here because I had my first problems with my v970 (with etotalk rom). This evening I checked my mobile and I found that none of the sim was active (I was not in airplane mode) and I could not activate them, as if they were not in their slots. Meanwhile the upper part of the device began to heat up, so I tought it could be an antenna/receiver problem. I almost forgot to say that I installed Truecaller (deleting Contapps) and updated facebook and few others apps less than one hour before the event, but I already uninstalled them to exclude some of the possible causes. I'll gladly listen to any advice. Thank's in advance. GL
Restart, and see if it continues.
Already tried a lot of times, with or without sim cards. I also noticed an abnormal use of battery.
When did the problem start? What did you do before it started? Does your cellphone always have no signal, or does it come & go (sometimes SIM works, sometimes it doesn't)? Have you checked your APN settings?

The problem started yesterday and I never experimented It till now. As I Said, before I encountered It, I updated some apps from the market and I changed the default caller manager (should I call It in this way?) with Truecaller. I also deleted my sim contacts
. I can't check apn because there are no apns to check (Android shows me the voice "mobile networks" but I can't select it
Update: I tried to restore the original rom, but the problem persists. I also made a check with the recovery, and it shows me that the device cannot detect sim cards. I begin to think that it's an hardware problem (ouch). Am I right?
What did you do in recovery that checks SIM cards? Are you talking about CWM recovery?

Nope, it's the faulty recovery that etotalk sent me with the phone. I would like to install the cwm and flash another rom, but I'll leave that as the last option
If the recovery they sent you is faulty, then what good is it? If there's a custom recovery available for your phone, you might as well go with it, not that it'll solve anything by itself.
You might try inserting some kind of shim along with the SIM card to see if the extra pressure help make contact with the leads. Careful, of course, that whatever you stick in there doesn't stay behind.

I know about the recovery, but I was trying to don't invalidate the warranty (as if I'll ever use it...). Now I'm charging the phone, it's already the third time today...
Aw, heck. If you've got warranty, just send it in.

Yep, I've got warranty, but sending it in China will cost me almost as much as buying a new one
Ok, I flashed a recovery and a custom rom, but nothing happened. The signal is still absent and the antenna heats up the same way as before. I tried to enter engineer mode and it shows me messages as "com.android.internal.telephony.CommandExcepti on: RADIO_NOT_AVAILABLE", "3G off. Cannot set", ecc... It also shows me "invalid IMEI" if I try to look at it and I cannot change it back with the AT +EGMR command (it says "Radio on" and "SIM State: ABSENT", altough the SIM card is in its slot).
I think you have to crack the case.

Hmmm... if your phone is reporting invalid IMEI numbers then I would try first to get that working as it should. Read this tutorial and re-write your IMEI numbers.
Then I would try the latest stock ROM, which is available on ZTE support website. Here is the direct link to the ROM.
If your phone still doesn't work after that, then I'm afraid you have a hardware problem.
I have had the telephone for more than one month with no problem. Trying every ROM made by Bruno with no problem at all with signal, but...
About 4 days ago, I started suffering exactly the same problems stated by ArcheoGian. I have tried everything (installing older Roms, rebooting, changing SIMs from 1 to 2, etc.) but unfortunately with no success. I just have to try to install the original ROM, but I supose it will be the same.
Afer a few reboots, I can make the telephone to search for a network, it founds it, it connects, it transfers data, I can make calls, but ramdomly (can be after 30 seconds, 30 minutes or maximum one hour) it disconnects and the red X of death (Xbox 360 times ) appears on top of the screen.
I can try to go and return from airplane mode, or search for networks that it won't re-connect.
I fear it can become a typical problem for this phone.
I am "delighted" to send it back to China and wait for two months to get it back (after explaining it to the seller and so on). Fingers crossed
@prinxo: did you buy it from eto...k? (I don't know if I can write the entire name of the seller)
Update: I tried everything it was told me (except to crack the case, at least not yet...), my last hope is to manually insert the IMEIs inside the data folder. There's just one problem: none of the methods suggested in the link posted by bcgngm works on my phone, so I need to generate the IMEIs whit my pc (I couldn't open the exe with windows 7, I'll try with win xp in a while, otherwise I have to ask someone to create it for me).

No, I bought it from another seller at Aliexpress.
As I thought: I tried to re-install an original ROM, and everything remains the same. I thought I was successfull but after one hour the phone disconnected itself from the network. After that moment, I need about 3 re-boots to get signal again and it lasts for just a few minutes.
At this point, I would disregard a software problem.
Happy happy to have to send it back to China.

Why do you say it is not working? My preferred method is to use the adb commands (and for that you have to install Android SDK). Don't forget that when you type the commands there is no output message on the screen. The phone has to be restarted so that changes take effect.

The third and the fourth ones are the only methods to restore IMEI I didn't try, just because I never used sdk and adb (and I'm not sure to be able to use them). I followed the others options (I also created the IMEI file with the russian program), but it continues to show me the "invalid IMEI" message. Can you help me, maybe showing me a good walkthrough?

More secure to change sim card after number change?

or is it equally secure to use the same sim card but a new different number.
On the same carrier

In general...
Carriers tie the Phone Number with the SIM card Number and the SIM Card Number is tied to a devices IMEI (aka Serial Number).
So if you have a phone number for a device, and then change the SIM Card, the device will not be able to use that phone number on a different SIM.
The only way to tie the phone number to a different SIM is for the carrier to port the phone number over to the new SIM.
This cannot be modified or bypassed on the device because their all tied in to the carriers system for the towers.
I hope that I had explained this okay via text...
Good Luck!

I DO NOT provide support via PM unless asked/requested by myself. PLEASE keep it in the threads where everyone can share.
Thank you. I was trying to figure out the following scenario.
Let's say I suspect some kind of remote tampering or location tracking without physical access to my phone.
Which one is more secure:
1. Change the phone number with the same carrier
2. Change the phone number and ask for a new sim card on the same carrier.
This is a European carrier.

There's one thing that you need to know: tracking your device is also possible when the IMEI number is known(and the IMEI can be changed also) so even when you switch the sim card and the device has location services or internet access it's quite easy to locate your device once it's been setup.
Actually one of these people has all the info from the phone box (IMEI, etc)
Are there other ways to track. Is it easy for anyone to track me with an app, etc. Is it equally easy to track an older non-smart phone.
I saw several time, errors with I think triangle with exclamation mark (I can't remember the exact words) that I have no access to network. This would stay briefly and then be removed. What are the implications of this.
If someone has my number, is it fairly easy for them to get the IMEI.
If they have the IMEI, does this allow them to track location or also get access to my data.
How can I protect myself.

How would these 2 situations be explained.
I am putting the regular (not smart) phone in the pocket. It turns on. It appears I called my own number. It's possible that I pressed dial but I felt I wasn't pressing any keys. It's an old phone with a square large button below the screen. The call log on the phone does show that a call was made to the same phone (calling my own number). would this be visible on the phone if it was done remotely (or would that even be possible: remotely causing a phone to call itself)
I am told by an older guy that someone called from my number and gave a different name than mine (I am asked if I use a different name). The phone was in my possession at all times and it's a smart phone.
I was testing google find my device. I am getting "can't reach device" with location ON on phone. Why would this happen?
On the other hand, I can "play a sound"

Hi, yeah seems like your device is high jacked by someone. There was a case like yours some month ago here on xda(don't remember the thread right now). You should wipe your device completely(within twrp format every partition.
Then install a aosp based rom.
Maybe this wipes the remote access too, but sadly I'm not sure cause the other guy did it he same but after this it was like before.
Which part makes you think it's hijacked?
not being able to find the device.? or something else (someone calling with the same number in the above post)
It did find the device after I moved it a little bit. It wasn't finding it when it was still.
Then it was not finding the device after I turned off location.
Is that how it works if someone is searching by using IMEI with an app. ie. if I turn off location then device cannot be located.
Which AOSP ROM?
In that case, if remote access wasn't wiped, what was the reason?
If someone has the IMEI, can they hijack repeatedly?

I don't know what device you have(you didn't wrote it) but try any non stock rom hence aosp based like LineageOS or ressurection remix for example and wipe your device before completely.
I don't know the root cause of this problem, I just remember me what was happening on the other member last year and maybe you are in the same situation.
If not, maybe there's help for you
It's an LG G3.
The link you posted leads to a ROM. Is it the correct link?

You should try. It's also possible to track you again if he has a duplicate sim(yeah, that's possible). But I don't think so.

There was no solution sadly :crying:
If a phone is hijacked, does that mean the attacker has access to all data, camera, mic, calls, etc. Can make calls from the number, etc. or just track location.
Would this be visible to the phone company?
Is there a solution.

With Trojans its all possible.
Did you already do what I wrote? Format the phone completely and install a aosp based rom? You didn't wrote what rom you're running and which apps... Maybe you have a app that's faulty

Yes, if hijacked (trojan installed ) then it's likely they can access anything they want, though it depends on Trojan installed.
As you got a phone call from someone who gave a different name your phone may have been cloned (possibly after malware infection or if someone has hadphysical access to it & copied imie etc). This is good in that your phone bill will show activity of the other phone & you can get help from your phone company. Your Google acc may show something too....
have you done the basics? Installed good anti virus, checked if rooted, checked if app showing in device administrators etc. Even if it comes back negative a port may have been opened & Trojan self deleted. Then you need to either try a firewall or check network traffic to identify unknown connections so probably easiest to just reflash full stock ROM or custom ( best as LineageOS will give you security updates every month ) ( make sure you backup your pic, files, contacts etc first )
They can only track your imei if they have access to the network infrastructure (as far as I know) assuming you have removed any Trojans, tracker, spy app etc and have clean install a ROM,
If you had a Trojan you should assume they have ALL your passwords, including your WiFi (maybe router admin too!) Change them all (use a password manager)

Password changed, cannot login

Hi Everyone,
I'm having a big problem with my Note 6 Pro. So, I came here to hopefully find a solution. Several days ago, when I attempted to enter my password, it was no longer accepted. Just receive a message on the screen that it's not correct. Except that it is correct - it's the Xiaomi garbage that is not correct. I changed nothing and nobody else ever has access to my phone so, it's quite impossible that anyone else ever changed it. I really am in a bad situation. Could someone advise any potential method that I could be able to access the phone?
I'm currently living in Hong Kong. Are there any top, local phone repair shops that might be able to help? Xiaomi service told me that the only way to use my phone again would be a complete reset. I can't believe this is the only method that would ever work. At this point, I don't even care what happens to the phone in the end as I will never use it, nor will I ever use any Xiaomi product again. I just want to be able to retrieve the last few months of irreplaceable photos and my various contacts.
Cheers!
Amy
Well...i can tell you one thing.
My office colleague have Redmi Note 5 amd last week she had exactly the same issue...
Phone locked itself and she couldn't unlock it...and she also didn't do anything...
Nothing was working, nor fingerprint, nor PIN code...
With your post, I'm wondering if it's some kind of a bug???
She eventually take it to service in order to somehow make backup of all the files of internal storage.
I saw that she has the phone now but didn't ask her what she did, was she able.to save the data etc.
I will check it tomorrow if i see her.

At first do you have any custom recovery installed on your phone? If so open it and select Advanced tab , File Manager and go to data then scroll down and open system folder and delete this files one by one > locksettings.db , locksettings.db-shm , locksettings.db-wal , gatekeeper.pattern.key (If found) , gatekeeper.password.key (If found) , password.key .. Now reboot phone

Thank you for the information. However, I don't have any custom recovery installed. I'm using the phone as purchased - everything is stock. What you described would not work on stock phones?
I have checked with my colleague, she needed to do factory reset of the phone, and thus lost all the data that she had on the phone [emoji53]
She said that there was some glitch/bug during charging - phone was on charger, and at one point there was voltage dropdown in the electricity network (usual stuff in Serbia), like power got cut down for 1 second and up and running again...after this, her phone was locked...

Bro I encountered the same problem and I knew that this is some sort of a bug, (by the way I'm an tech expert, so any problem in Android or windows i can probably solve it) so before dealing with any kind of bug in Android just reboot your device and guess what, 99% bugs get fixed after rebooting your device. And it perfectly solved mine too
Hi! I have made an account specifically to reply and inform you that I had encountered the same issue on my Xiaomi Note 9s and my brother, twice on his Vivo y19. I was the victim first and I was certain that I hadn't forgot nor did anyone mess with my phone. Afterwards I'd just keep my phone without any security. When my brother told me that he had the same issue, I was shocked to know that it wasn't only Xiaomi but Vivo as well, so my decision to keep my phone free of locks was solidified. My brother however, decided to use security again and it happened for the second time.
I'm not sure if Google or Xiaomi, Vivo, individually or collectively, have a part in this. All I know is that it's really painful to loss your data this way, for no apparent reason at all.
This sucks and there's very little information on internet regarding why this happens.
So my advice is that if you've been locked out of your device this way once, don't ever use the security features again. Because most of these phones require a primary password (pattern, pin, code etc) for other features like facelock and fingerprints to work. What sucks even more is that they only ask for the primary passwords on restarts. Had it been the fingerprint, I probably could have unlocked my phone (not sure if my fingerprint would have also been reset).
P. S. I used a lot of words to convey a simple message but it's because English isn't my first language and I don't want anyone to deal with the same headache as mine.

Question incoming call notification delay

I don't know when it has started, but now when everyone try to call me the phone ring but i have to wait about 3-5 seconds before i get the notification on screen and i can answer
I have got the MIUI global 12.5.1.0 (RJUEUXM) and i know it is quite buggy, but i have googled a bit and none seems to have my same problem.
I read that i could try to wipe the system cache (on a oneplus one forum) but the standard recovery mode doesn't have this option, and i really don't want to wipe the phone to get another one
Any suggestion? Is there a way to wipe the system cache without formatting? Do anyone had my same issue?
Thank you
MIUI is trash that's why. And it's related to agressive memory management. (killing apps in background, even system ones)

I have tried in the built-in power manager to set the power saving option for the dialer app to none, but no luck
Try disabling "Turn on MIUI optimisation" in the Developer options (scroll to the bottom of the page). It may work, or it may not work. Xiaomi thinks that disabling it can cause issues ...
Updated at 12.5.2.0 (RJUEUXM) and the problem is still present.
Do anyone have the same problem?

Similar problem with notification delays, in my case it affect sms and clock, dunno if this the same as your, however i post anyway, just disable via ADB the DOZE feature for apps affected with delays (do not work if i disable battery optimization in the normal settings).
Enable developer options in the device, enable usbdebug, connect the phone to the pc, install the correct usb MI drivers (use the MiUsbDriver.exe command), surf to adb directory and whitelist the system apps you want to have instant notifications.
To retrieve the list:
adb shell dumpsys deviceidle whitelist
To whitelist apps affected:
adb shell dumpsys deviceidle whitelist +com.xxxxxxxx.xxxxxxxx
Of course replace the apps name xxxxxxx with the correct name of system apps installed in your device.
Use the first command and check again if the apps you whitelist are now in the list as "user". Setting is permanent until you do a clean flash or flash a new rom.
No idea if you need to unlock the bootloader to apply such change, try it if work.

Sorry this isn't helping for your specific case.
Hi,
yes my brother has this problem when a friend calls his second sim card ... he uses two SIM cards at once, you also use two cards at once? (At once=two sim cards in mobile)
I only use one sim and I don't have this problem. the above advice did not help my brother, the problem is definitely in the dual sim function (implementation). Please report it to someone on xiaomi to fix it.
PS: can you try to use only one SIM card? if your problem goes away. let us know if this is the core of the problem. Thank you.

I have the same problem but in my case I think it's about having Zepp app giving notifications to my watch. Do you have a similar app? You can try to disable phone access to all apps except dialer and see if works...

Nop, the only app i use is the dealer
Have you found any solution?
Happen to me as well on mi9t pro. Further googling led me to believe this was issue with phone app by google. You can check theor review on playstore and most people having this issue.
i have factory reset my phone and problem is still there.
Little update: i have had this issue for all the time when i was in holiday with a poor interbet connection, now that i'm returned home, where i have quite alwais signal the issue seems gone.
May be that the dialer need internet access to work properly?
Hi,
I'm having the same issue with my poco x3 i keep having a delay before my screen turns on when i'm receiving call. Is someone still having this issue or it's just me ?
I don't think there's a link with Wifi, at least that's really strange to me.
Thanks
Answer is in second post, this doesn't happen on custom ROM's. (unless they are based off MIUI)
Same problem with Xiaomi mi 11
Try to remove all the email accounts from the gmail app, it should fix.
Same issue... POCO X3...
3/4 secs delay in notifications...
the phone rings and I can't see who is calling... After 3/4 sec it shows the notification...
It's very funny how everyone is ignoring @k3lcior 's posts, when he is just spitting truth in your face.
Sorry, guys, but you can't just ignore the real cause and look for a cheap workaround that might fix it in theory. In reality, ROMs like the official one from Xiaomi (MIUI) are extremely aggressive in terms of killing background apps, etc. They want to reduce battery strain, no matter how much stuff it breaks.
This is a problem across different apps. There are tons of issue reports from app users, that can't use some apps properly, because MIUI keeps killing it, even though it already has been whitelisted in the power saving list, as not allowed to be killed. It still gets killed, though.
So, if you guys want to keep your apps alive and not getting killed all the time, you have no choice but to switch to a different ROM. Even if you find a workaround on the official ROM, then it's still very unreliable.
To be clear, once again:
Even if you whitelist your app, it can still get killed, because MIUI does not give a crap, if you need the app. It still may get killed!
