hello
im a new member here(old watcher xD), and this is my first post, i would hate to make it about asking for help instead of saying hi but im having this problem/s for a while now and its really getting on my nerves, (please excuse my mistakes since english is not my first language)
here is the story:
i bought at&t locked atrix 2 (GSM), bought unlock code and did long research for the last couple of days about the whole android OS roms (IOS user )
and im using the phone now (unlocked) with our carrier Etisalat and it works great but my problems are as follows:
1- it always connect to 4g which i think is consuming more battery and sometimes the coverage is weak so i wish to turn it to 2g or at least 3g if 2g not possible (tried to change it from settings but the option is grayed and also downloaded apps and widgets and still the same)
2-whenever i reboot the phone or close it and then open it, i get a notification that says: "sim card full, delete messages to free space"(every single time), and i have no messages at all (in the sim and outside the sim) and i only have 52 contacts in the sim, which leads us to my third problem
3- i have contacts in the sim but i cant import them because accoring to the phone "there is no contacts on your sim card", and the funny part is i can access them from the same phone thru an app called SIM Toolkit (not sure but i think it comes embedded inside the sim) but the app does not import them or make me copy them, just watch them and if i want i can write them on paper xD, and also it show that the sim can contain 2000 name
200 email
200 number
all of them are empty except the names field which has 52 name.
by the way those three problems have traveled with me thru the roms xD
stock, supercharged, supercharged v2, stock deoxed, and finally victory(the best ) so i dont think its a problem with the roms.
also i tried to leave the AT&T bloatware but nothing changed.
i hope i can find the solution/s with you guys & sorry for the long paragraph.
Bump
up, perhaps someone would know something useful.
I had the same problem with the phone not reading the contacts on the sim card. What I did was install a free app call Sim Contacts from google play. I selected all the contacts and from the app setting, selected batch operation to "batch copy to phone contacts" However if you reset the data on your phone, it needs to be done again. I hope this help.
Thanks ))
thanks for the help, and i did try to use several programs (yours included)but non worked.
anyway i tried to take the sim and use it on my old nokia phone and after couple tries it finally showed up that there is messages in the sim and i deleted the hell out of them xD and when i returned the sim, the phone never showed up that message again and not only that but it also made the contacts visible to the phone and i could import them and everything worked out )))
however there is still the first problem not solved yet and any help would be truly appreciated ?
why is the choice of changing the network type (4g,3g,2g) greyed out ?
finally solved all the problems
it really saddens me that no one tried to help me except one (has my sincere gratitude) and i finally found a solution to my problem with changing the network type, the sad thing is that no one helped me out (yep im b!#@%ing about it), the good or even funny thing is that i found the solution here in the forums by other XDA members (after 4 hours or searching), and im posting this now because someone else might be needing help regarding this subject:

Rocketsize=18][/size]
Phone
You might has bought a stolen phone, ring up your network provider and ask them to check th imei. Alos hav you tried reflashing the handset back to its original rom?
thanks for that,I'll ask them (didn't really think of that as it has worked on my friends sim) how do I reflash the handset to it's original rom?I slipped up by loading wm5 and I don't have win2003 (why don't they provide a disc?anyone know where I can get a copy?I've tried Ebay but nothing there at all)I'd like to go back to wm2003 ,5 doesn't do anything for me ,just a lot of progs don't work with it (TomTom for one). Thanks ,Rocket
Right if you do a serach on the sit you will find out how to
Then on to your next point abou getting the actual rom, if you are a registered use and go to the ftp, you will find your self many differnt roms for your phone.
Refernce flashing there is aa slight elemeant of risk, so I for one would say read around in the forum and read the guide well before hand.
First post, hi everyone!
In a bit of trouble with my XDA orbit. Im waiting to sell it, but i cant get rid of my contacts. I've taken the SIM out, but all my contacts still show on the phone and wont give me an option to delete. Ive tried downloading some programs on the net that get rid but to no effect.
All my contacts still show, with a little image of what looks like a sim card next to them - but my sim isnt in it!?
Really confused now. Please help!
Cheers
Fil
Well, if I remember correctly the sim contacts are shown even without sim. A good thing before selling the phone would be to hard reset it, which will return the phone to the state it was innitially (and delete all the programs and user settings).
Hi everyone!
I've been going through this ENTIRE forum, and countless others on top of dozens upon dozens of google searches, and I still haven't found a solution to my SMS timestamp error.
All the solutions offered up by people seem seriously promising, because they seem to help a lot of people, and that is what's kept me hopeful: that someone out there/in here can help me fix this problem.
Basically, I have an unlocked Fido Motorola Q9h, that is being used on the Rogers network. Never delved into flashing my device, cuz I was happy with WM6. Not to mention I'd got it tweaked to a very lovely point
Then a week ago, my phone locked up after I'd put my phone into airplane mode (I'd done this countless times before with no issue), and just would not let me turn the antenna back on. Nothing I tried worked, so of course I eventually caved and did a hard reset. That was when I figured I would give WM6.1 a try, seeing as how my device was gonna be starting from scratch anyway.
I flashed to an unlocked AT&T WM6.1 ROM, and went ahead with all the registry tweaks to remove all the bloatware. Phone is pretty damn clean if I do say so myself. I've got PHM on there, GPSID, CHome COnfigurator, and that's really about it.
After all that was said and done, and I got my first SMS, I realized the message was timestamped 4 hours behind. Every single SMS from every single contact shows timestamped 4 hours earlier. In the threaded SMS stream, my messages are timestamped correctly, but the other peoples' aren't.
Example:
Me (7:37): Send me a text to see if this timestamp issue's been fixed.
Steph (3:37): Okay =)
The strange thing is that MMS messages come in with the correct timestamp, and that is something that seriously boggles my mind.
Please, please, PLEASE. If anyone out there has some kind of suggestion, I would absolutely love to hear it. Here are the remedies I've tried that have had no effect:
-Installed DST cab from Microsoft.
-"TrustTimeZoneField" w/DWORD value of "0" minus quotations of course
-"TrustTimeZoneField" wDWORD value of "1" to allow the device to trust the provider's time just in case my phone was screwing up.
-"RcvTimeStamp" w/DWORD value of "1"
-tweaked some "NetworkTimeSync" (or something along those lines) entry to a value of "1" instead of its current value of "0," but nothing.
I'm at the end of my rope here guys and girls, so please, anything you can suggest that I haven't already tried would be infinitely appreciated
Thanks in advance everybody
although i dont know the answer ive got a thing for you to try
in the setting section make sure you regional settings are set correctly
Thanks Pilot, will double check those settings. Well, as per your instructions, I've double-checked the settings, and they're correct. Have my locale set as English (Canada), and nothing. Even changed it to English (United States) just to see, but to no avail.
*sigh*
I am almost at my wits end...Is there no one out there with a Q9h running the unlocked AT&T WM6.1 ROM, that's having the same issue??? Or even better, someone out there who's SOLVED the issue?
I've even called Rogers and they suggested a new SIM card, seeing as how I have the original SIM from Rogers, and I'm waiting on it. I've even tried my sister's SIM which is a new one, but nothing. Figure it HAS to be the ROM
Found a solution to timestamp issue with q9 & wm6.1!!!
Hi everyone!!!
I can't believe I'm actually going to be the person posting the solution to this problem, but I guess it's true that perseverance pays off
This post is in regards to the sms timestamp issue that I've noticed several people are having with the moto q9 once they upgrade to wm6.1 and are on a Canadian service provider.
***This solution involves modifying your device's registry, so if you do not feel comfortable or are unfamiliar with the process, please do not proceed with the modification. I will not be held responsible for any bricked/malfunctioning devices as a result of this tweak***
Use a reg editor (I used the free PHM registry editor), and navigate to:
-HKLM (HKey Local Machine)
-Software
-Motorola
-RilDrv
Now that you're in the RilDrv Folder, there should be a few more folders in here...don't navigate to any specific one, just click the "values" softkey (whatever it may be for your devices), and somewhere in the values that become visible, you should see one that says "LocalizedTimeStamp." Open that value and modify it's value to "0" (without the " " of course)
Reboot your device, wait 10 seconds, cross your fingers and toes, and restart your device. Once your device is fully booted, and seems to be functioning normally, send yourself a text message, and check the received timestamp. It *should* be correct (ie. a minute or two or less in the future of your sent timestamp). To be sure it isn't just for your own texts, ask someone to text you anything, and hopefully the result it yields will be the same.
I have only tested this solution on an unlocked Motorola Q9h from Fido, running the unlocked AT&T WM6.1 ROM on Rogers.
I serached for close to a month with no real viable solution, so I just kept poking and prodding at my registry. Yeah, kinda dangerous I know, but I was at my wits end with this little bug. Finally though, the time and investigation paid off
Hope it goes well for all of you out there who are having the same problem!
Well lets assume your android device has been stolen! Good lord !! . Not to worry, this guide should hopefully help you recover it. Even if its a thief.

A about two weeks ago (17th April to be exact) one of my friend lost his Samsung GT-I9003 from his dorm room at 0200hrs. Today when i was scanning my latitude, i saw him position a few hundred meters from me. Problem is, we are on a university campus. 500+ students, staff, kitchen, cleaning - basically lot of people. I suggested we check Google Latitiude's location history and sure enough for the past 15 days, the phone's location is spread all over the campus.
Premise of the crime
The phone is ON and is connecting to the Wi-Fi.
The phone is still tied to the primary gmail account and is thus reporting location.
The SIM has been removed or changed since the original number is now switched off
The person does not have good knowledge of using a smart phone (maybe helping staff)
Steps we have taken
Since we assume it is in the possession of either a student or helping staff we don't want to startle him.
Tried Plan-B on my phone. However the location it was reporting was the same as Google Latitude.
The phone does have Where is my Droid installed but the web interface says invalid email ID. So that option is ruled out unless you have pre configured Where is my Droid previously.
How we found the phone
After Where is my Droid failed us, we started looking for other applications. We found this application called Android Lost. Unfortunately we hit a dead end when we realised that it needs to be activated by sending an SMS. Since we dont know the phone number, or that there is even any SIM card in the phone, that application also seemed useless. But turns out the developer of Android Lost has also made a nifty app called AndroidLost Jumpstart which is can trigger Android Lost without the need of an SMS.
According to the description
This app will wake up the registration process on the androidlost app when ever a phone call is made, an SMS received, battery is low, a package is added, removed or changed.

So we got android lost installed. Trust me, its a life saver. We got calls logs, sms, pictures, voice recordings. We tracked the person with the help of this.
Hope this helps anyone in the future!

yep always good to be safe before hand. After this incident lot of my friends have installed or gotten some security app.
Although, aren't security suite like Avast, McAfee and overkill for finding lost phones?
And who was the thief?

another possibility is to instal Cerberus App
Hi everyone. I have recently been the victim of theft for my nexus 7. I had the device locked with the pattern so there is no way that the thief could get into it unless they do a software reset from the recovery mode. The thing is, either way there is no way i would be able to recover it because if in fact they do a factory reset my lookout security would be uninstalled and my nexus would be lost forever, also if they can't get through the pattern and find a way to connect to Wi-Fi, it will still be lost forever. I have read about installing lookout in the system/app folder of a rooted device so its not easily uninstalled by normal means or factory reset. But do you think it is possible to have android lost and lookout pre-configured and installed in the system/app folder so that even if the device is factory reset, the credentials will remain?
is it factory-reset proof?
Just a quick little question: How did you get the phone to register on Android Lost? I can't get a friend's phone to be recognized in the web app, after installing the Jumpstart and another app...
Thank you
Very good contribution, gratz! i will follow your steps in case my android get stolen!
How did it fail?
You say that "after Where's my Droid failed us"...what do you mean by that...how did it "fail"? I would like to know before installing it. What exactly happened that it "failed" you?
Thanks
Losing a phone is irritating
I lost my phone sometime back. I didn't have the time to do research and maybe these apps weren't available at the time of theft. I got the SIM de-activated and tried to track my phone via IMEI number.
So, a few questions
1. Have they changed its IMEI number ?
2. Have they removed my Google account ?
This pretty much messes it up. If you can't track it via IMEI nor can you use any network then its as good as history. These were the only remaining identification tags that could have got your phone back and the thief would know of it. The moment I called on my own number he switched it off. He logged into my account and posted crap(not that I knew any of it had it not been for my friend who reported some strange FB and Twitter status) as if it wasn't enough that he had my phone.
One of the most disturbing things that they can do is play with the IMEI. Older phones were more susceptible to that kind of thing but a Nexus ? P990 ? GT19100? I thought they were much harder to hack. Not only can you NOT track your phone but also lose all other alternatives because the phone is now linked to another google account. I was searching for a post that would walk me through a process of changing the google account currently associated with the phone. In an attempt to understand if this indeed was the case. I wanted to try this app so badly but now I blew it off, my only chance.
Hardware based identification is the only way to go about fixing this issue. Any low level process that runs off some hard coded tag independent of software control known only to the owner of the phone. I just don't know what other options are left with person who lost it. I think there is no other way.
Time for a new phone, I guess
Edit: I guess I was right about that. They had done a hard reset but the IMEI associated with my account is intact. So there are two ways of messing it up. One, you change the IMEI(which sounds ridiculously dumb). Second, you change the primary account(more believable). How stupid of me to think of the first one
i think if a android phone is lost and a guy with a bit knowledge of flashin roms gets it then we might have to forget our phone.. if the phone has screen lock the guy can reset the phone through stock recovery and all security apps like where's my droid, avast etc get wiped off.. i personally don't install any anti-theft apps. i beleive in being EXTRA CAREFUL than installing any anti theft apps
And you are damn right bro, its good to be careful than putting all your believe in one anti-THEFT software which can easily get wiped off.

Hello everyone and hope to find a solution to this problem that I caused myself.
A couple of days ago I came to buy a mobile for eBay, with very good features but that only brought two languages English and Japanese, after much research weno to rotearlo, I got you can rotear and is very easy, the question was to use a root desinstador to remove applications in Japanese, that is the question I deleted such that a Mobil has been almost useless, it lights have wifi but no network are not phone applications or contact, it says nothing about the SIM requests and configuration pin or setin gives many fs if it enters network.
Theirs would reinstall the official ROM but I can not find it, if I try to update it does not detect wifi Trough docomo network, tb I watched the efs folder and is not, and can not think of more, I made a backup with titanium backup but not because reason gives me error and not installed, when I made this copy option worked even though I had uninstalled call phone icons and the calendar.
Another thing is that now I have the baseband because I don not known or something.
If you also have looked but I see nothing, I found and downloaded this F02E_F0001_V16R46A.tar.gz Trado
I think it's the uncompressed original rom but remains weighs 900mg. tar and not how to install it.
In conclusion let a disaster, so I do not know what to do with, you tell me greetings can be solved
