Hello, I'd like to know how to update oneplus 8T firmware before a custom rom update (if needed). Custom rom threads on XDA don't mention this topic, and I'm not sure that flashing everytime OxygenOS is the best solution.

Hey guys! So I have a few questions about the oneplus one here, I'm checking for a friend and I always had a nexus where matching firmware doesn't really matter much. So here they are.
1) What happens if you have the wrong firmware for a rom? Softbrick? Hardbrick? Nothing at all?
2) For a Nougat rom, what firmware do you use? Since this phone hasn't got an official firmware update for Nougat yet.
3) Is there a special recovery here on XDA that can flash all roms? (there was one for the oneplus two) or is TWRP good for all roms?
What confuses me the most about oneplus devices is how the firmware works different from most Android devices. Thanks guys!

Thanks! So it's not as important as it seems? I notice some roms here on XDA specifically say to have the newest firmware, or a certain version. The rom is still expected to boot? And what's the worst case scenario? A soft brick that can be easily fixed with TWRP or something worse? Thanks for the reply! Like I said, I'm coming from a Nexus 6 where none of this firmware stuff really applies

Yes the rom is a still expected to boot, though, the recommended frimware is to be used so as to avoid any bugs.
However, some roms do require the recommended frimware in order to boot but I don't think even if flash any rom which needs recommended frimware will take you in any kind of brick condition as when you flash a rom on incompatible frimware you'll see error in Twrp,if so happens you just need to have recommended frimware in your storage and flash it then flash the rom again and you'll not face any errors.
Good luck!

1. If you are using TWRP, nothing will happens. Because when you flash a ROM, TWRP will comparing your phone model with build.prop on the targeted ROM. Because based on my experience, somehow i download LineageOS for d802 and flash it to my bacon. TWRP gives an error and didn't flash any firmware. I don't know about CWM or other recovery
2. I'm using Lineage OS. It's pretty good so far. No bug or whatever
3. TWRP is good for all ROM. i think any recovery will do
Hello,
Just got the RN7P from china and I was wondering where can I find the Indian stock ROM (a.k.a. Global ROM)?
Also I live in the EU and from what I've read with the new MIUI 10.3 we will have EU ROM as well?? Is it out yet?
Can't find anything on both my questions in the ROM section of the forum.
Thank you in advance!
Yes we have got Eu ROM too. Here is the thread for it-

And if you wish to try developer version of Eu, here is the thread for it-

Hi, thank you very much for the provided links. I think it would make things easier, if there are threads created in the ROM&Karnel section for this phone.
What are the main difference between the stable and the developer version of the ROM? Do you get updates if you use the Developer version? Any know bugs?
What about the India Stock ROM? Is it possible to get that one as well?
Thanks in advance
Indian Rom and some info related on the whole thread.

If you flash with miflash (which wipes everything) you can update with system updater. if you flash via TWRP you have to update manually . The beta will be having little more features and there are no major known bugs. I would suggest you stick with EU rom rather than Global(Indian) version.

Thank you for the reply, I will most certainly give the EU a try. One last thing - will both Stable and Developer ROMs get frequent updates? Regarding to MIUI / Android ?? And are those updates pushed vie OTA or do you need to manually flash them?
Thank you again in advance!

Yes, Both will be getting updates. If you flash it through miflash you can update it via OTA else you have to flash it through twrp.
Hi,
Apart from OTA updates, is there any other significant needing on Flash with TWRP instead of MiFlash?
Thank you

Hello everyone. Sorry, I'm a noob so please be patient with me. My RN7P is rooted with Magisk, has Peter's TWRP and EdXposed. I have MIUI_V10.3.13.0.PFHINXM. How do I update to MIUI 11? Do i just download the Indian ROM (from here: https://www.xda-developers.com/download-miui-11-xiaomi-redmi-note-7-pro-poco-f1/amp/), and install it through TWRP, or do I also need to do something else, do I have to make sure that something is right? I just want to make sure that I don't break my device.
So, I just received the update from the updater app and I wanted to know, can I just download the package from there and flash it through TWRP?

Anyone working on a custom rom based on A11 that will be a full rom?
Meaning, after flashing I'd be on A11.
I'd like to see a flashable OOS stock rom.
Can we still do that with today's phones\envirobment?

I didn't really understand everything but OOS 11 stable has been released so you should have stock Android 11.
As for custom ROMs they're in development, it's just not fully ready yet, ROM development is still (and hopefully will keep being) possible.

I'm on a Slrint\Tmo branded OnePlus 8 5G.
They lock out OTA once rooted.
They also got rid of local Upgrade.
Only way I'm getting to A11 is either going back to stock unrooted and using OTA
OR
Someone publishes a stock rom that I can flash.
I'd rather do the rom flash rather than going back to stock unrooted to update.
I would just need to remove magisk and modules I guess.... Prt not that big a deal, honestly...
But I'd prefer flashable a11 rom over going OTA
Hi,
i recently upgraded the device to the newest version of MIUI and Android 11. The new Android version seems to have some bugs in performance such as the fact that when playing games the device gets heated rapidly.
I would like to downgrade the firmware by flushing an official ROM.
But is that safe? Anyone had the same experience?
Also i am a bit of newbie so please also give some advice on what i have to do. What i have in mind is flashing a previous build like this one:
HMK305G_V11.1.25.0.QGICNXM_v11-10
or this one:
HMK305G_V12.1.5.0.RGICNXM_v12-11
Custom Roms come also with the new Android version?

No particular problem to downgrade. The bootloader must be unlocked and use miflash (more safe) or twrp to flash the rom.
The roms you indicate are not for the Poco f2 pro and are not original roms.
Do you want to downgrade to android 10 with an original rom or install a xiaomi EU rom?

Thanks for your reply,
I have the Global version installed but i quess EU version will do just fine also. About the files.. hmm i didn't see "poco f2" on the list so i thought it would be the K30 files. Can you indicate to me, the correct rom files to use? I searched xiaomi sites but i found only the latest ver.. i found this repo somewhere in a post here.

Oh i see i selected the 5G as my phone supports 5G and i thought it was a different version. Thanks for the info!
One last thing: You think i should go with the Global or EU version (i live in EU but stock rom was Global), or there is no difference to me?

I think you are confusing: the original(stock) Rom and the EU customs Rom .
The links above are customs rom.
Here you will find the original(stock) Xiaomi EEA or GLOBAL(better) roms .
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/miui/lmi/
EU roms(custom rom) are better than stock.
thank you very much, i will try it!

Hello, I cant find stock rom for MIUI 12 android 10, can you help? I currently am stuck if fastboot and I think flashing stock rom might help
I can recommend Xiaomi.EU custom rom. Was in a similar situation (not happy with stock miui 12.5 poco version). Unlocked bootloader and installed xiaomi.eu. It's much better. No issues so far.
