Hey, everyone. This is my first time on this site. I don't have a lot of experience with android as I am more of an iphone guy. I'm the manager of a small doctor's office here in south Texas and, until recently, we've been using the PAX A920 to take payments on. Doc said he didn't want the devices anymore and that I could have them to play around with. I'd like to completely wipe the devices and install just a straight android OS on it. But I have tried literally everything I can think of. I'll list a few things about the device, everything I have tried, and a few pictures below. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Device specs and things I've tried:
When I plug the device into my computer (OS X Monterey) and open the Android File Transfer tool, I can see a little bit of stuff that is on the device, and a notification pops up on the PAX that says "USB debugging connected. Touch to disable USB debugging"
I can drag and drop APK's to the device but none will successfully installDeveloper Options cannot be accessed. When I try to tap the build number, a message displays at the bottom of the screen that says "You are not debugging and have no access to developer mode !" In exactly that format. I've also tried to enable developer mode with ADB using "adb shell settings put global development_settings_enabled 1" but that didn't work either.
When I turn off the device and power it back on, while holding the power button and volume up button, it displays the PAX boot logo but it says "Firmware Developer Mode" underneath it. It does nothing else from that point. I tried letting it sit for like 6 hours and nothing ever happened.
It appears that PAX devices use their own custom android based OS called Paydroid and I can't find anything about it after some pretty extensive google searches.
The build number is PayDroid_5.1.1_Aquarius_V02.3.17_20181026
The Kernel version is 3.10.49
It's running on Lollipop
Underneath processor, it says "Qualcomm Technologies, Inc MSM8909
The device has it's own store called PAXStore but it's pretty useless
You can't browse the internet on it
There's a whole bunch of crazy looking applications loaded on the device but you can't access any of them.
ADB recognizes the device but almost any command I use that targets the device literally does nothing. No success message when using "adb install" and no output with "adb shell getprop" or adb wm size". Zero. Zilch. Nada. The only one that actually gave me some form of output was the "adb pull /system/build.prop" and that one was "adb F 01-20 10:43:25 72984 1577471 file_sync_client.cpp:499] protocol fault: failed to read stat response: Undefined error: 0
zsh: abort adb pull /system/build.prop"
Fastboot does not recognize that there is a device connected even when I boot it up by holding down the power button and volume up.
This is the WEIRD part. I made a new user on the device and when it switched to the new user, it popped up with the usb debugging notification AND "sdcard is mounted". But there's no sd card listed in the storage or in the files app. There's a slot in the battery bay for a micro sd card, but I haven't put one in and I verified that there isn't one in there. Makes me think that there might be some sort of storage drive physically installed somewhere on the motherboard.
I'm serious. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. This isn't even about why I was originally trying to do this. I've invested days into this and quite frankly just want to be able to say I've done it.

You can use a sequence of commands to get some fastboot output:
Bash:
adb reboot bootloader
The device will restart. then...
Bash:
fastboot devices
You will see the device listed. Then you can use the fastboot commands

I can't get my Pax A920 to allow me to enable usb debugging, and it doesn't do anything at the firmware download mode screen. Fastboot and ADB don't see it. i'm able to see it in device manager and has a storage device to copy files.
Hi all you must be a developer from pax, To be honest, I have done it before, It appears that PAX devices use their own custom android based OS called Paydroid, and I try to enter developer pax but just the lowest authorization, and I only get auth on the official website, and only a few serial numbers open for me, this is very annoying, I try to manipulate reverse their program, and are constrained because the tool used is in Chinese askara which I find difficult to understand, here's my experiment with a device that is not my authorization, you can contact me from telegram if u interest https://t.me/paydroid

This error says there is no sh file in your device..
Just check by using any root explorer
Go to system>bin in this bin folder There must be a file named sh about 2-4 mb in size.
If not that's the missing file and your problem too..
we all should be polite enough to press thanks for anyone who helped US.
I don't know exactly what piece of software that you are using, but the core of it is ADB.
adbd (the ADB daemon) on your device can not find your shell.
It doesn't exist at /system/bin/sh
Do you have it somewhere else on your device?
The shell path is hard-coded into adbd
Are you sure that the adbd on your device is the right one?

Just try to reflash with your device with 2.3.7 again. If works, it mean something wrong with your ICS rom. How do you upgrade your rom? did you do via recovery or fastboot. I believed sh file is there but No enough permissions . normally works by fixing the permission
Hi, I encountered the same problem on my AVD device. The problem appeared after that I started the device with "-writable-system" flag. After that, I always have to start the device with this flag to avoid the error that you encountered too.

Installing BusyBox basically requires device's Android is rooted - what in turn requires device's bootloader is unlocked and it's dm-veritiy and/or AVB lock is disabled.
I'm not sure what you mean.
I found busybox.exe for windows than I do not know what I have to do with this file, I ran it and created a lot of aplications files
And also I downloaded .apk file and I tried to install it in the amazfit wach using the tool Huami_Amazfit_Tool but do not work because some command use shell or similar and appears again the same error:
"'/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2)"
The main thing is I have a Amazfit Stratos frozen on A logo. I can reboot it on fastboot only using manual method and is unlocked because I introduced the code but all the process to restore than I downloaded or I tried (recovery.bat, flash.bat, unbrick.bat...) all them in some moment use the comand "adb shell something" and here fails all restore process
The strange thing is than worked me installing the Pace firmware, the watch starts but the touch screen not works, and was veeery had back to Stratos because doing this I lost the serial number (null) and the fastboot was locked again so I spend a few hours to restore the watch to the initial point: statos completely frozen but unlocked.

On RF NV Item manager, go to "Settings > Comport";
Select your COM port and click "OK";
Click "File" > "Read Supported NV RF";

Check "Hex" box;
BE CAREFULL NOW THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!!!
You will see 9 text boxes and where you should put your IMEI number. You should do this EXACTLY as described or else...
You should put your IMEI backwards.
Let's take this number as an example: 954091051099226. The boxes should be filled like:
Code:
8 (This must go in the first box ALLWAYS!)
9a (The "[B]a[/B]" represents the fact that the last pair only consists of 1 number)
45
90
01 (this can be written as 1 as well)
15
90
29
62
or
Once you enter in the data, press Write Changed NV on "File"
Reboot your phone
Confirm your IMEI number by typing *#*#06#
Hope this will help you to recover your lost IMEI number:good:
Good luck and be very cautious!!!

Hi , do you know if this tutorial works for both dual sim and single sim variants ?
I too have lost the Imei on SIM 1 after changing the display.
Thanks
My K910 has been flashed to CM12. Will this method still work? It seems the key sequence to enter "factory mode" does not work. By the way, is the "factory mode" the same as "engineering mode?" The images are down so I cannot be sure.
Thanks.

I found a way, you need to have "EFS PROFESSIONAL" its free!
1. flash combination files.
2. in IMEI option type +#0808# select DM+MODEM+ADB then leave the modem option showing next, then restart phone.
3. open EFS Professional, select Qualcom option, then your phone should show on com ports, then tap connect, Secure OPs, tap send password and the imei should show, right there you can change it or restore it from the original. tap write to phone. disconect and then turn phone off.
4. check imei +#06#
let me know if you need help
Thanks for your comment.
Am using Asus Pegasus X003.
Just flashed but somehow lost IMIE.
Do we need to root this device?
Can u pls explain step Flash Combination files?

You Can use Engineering mode on MediaTek devices to recover/change IMEI.
The method can be easily found on google/youtube.
After trying numerous ROMs without success and always getting "boot loops", I finally found a way to activate REAL 1080P on my Android Mini PC!!
This is NOT scaled 720p! The display resolution of 1920x1080 was confirmed with the Hardware Info app from Google Play.
Model: CYX_809III V5_2 20141105 with RK3188 CPU and WiFi/BT chip RTL8723BS (2G RAM, 8G NAND)

*** If you don't have this EXACT model, STOP reading here! ***
WARNING: Flashing a new ROM WILL ERASE EVERYTHING on your device! BACKUP ALL DATA including the internal SD card before proceeding!
You assume all the risks and I am NOT responsible if you lose data or "brick" your device!
Here's the long story of how I did it. DO NOT follow the steps! Just read them and scroll down to the next section.
--- Begin Long Story ---
1. First, I downloaded this ROM: MK809III,UH007B_8723bs_4.4_1080_20140924, which can be found at:
http://chinagadgetsreviews.blogspot.com/2014/11/download-android-kitkat-442-firmware.html
https://yadi.sk/d/oLLygFotdc6K3
https://mega.co.nz/#!Z10mgYhT!SdubLh6SJZ1OYsyrCR80G8kaowNLAhNMbX1bNeIrPBs
2. I flashed the ROM above using the "RKBatchTool V1.7" (see bottom of post for links). After flashing, it did NOT work and resulted in a boot loop. Next, using the following ROM backup tool, I made a dump of the "system.img" of the above ROM.
http://freaktab.com/forum/developme...our-RK-device-(ROM)-with-the-new-RK-2-1-tool=
3. I then flashed the ONLY "working" ROM for this Mini PC (but 720p!), cyxtech_rk31_809iii_8723bs_141216_4.4_8g1g, which can be found at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/hardware-hacking/android-sticks/cx919-ii-firmware-t2972279
http://pan.baidu.com/s/1qW1A12W
https://mega.co.nz/#!JlFFnb7Q!LyFbSfdKp526zqSJHmuO9oKrP1romqKaInZc7ianO50
4. Using the ROM backup tool above, I made a dump of the "parameter.txt" file of this "working" ROM. Then I modified the parameter.txt to account for the larger system.img from Step 2, which I will flash in the next step. I then made a dump of all other partitions from this ROM, and packaged them in my new ROM below.
5. Finally, using AndroidTool V2.3 OR RKAndroidTool v1.37 (see link below), I flashed the system.img which I dumped in Step 2 (from the ROM in Step 1). Before flashing it I had to load the modified parameter.txt file from Step 4. Then I rebooted and Voila! I was able to switch to real 1080p in the settings.
--- End Long Story ---
For your convenience, I have created a new ROM. All partitions were extracted from the "working" ROM in Step 3, with the exception of "system.img" which is from the ROM in Step 1. In other words, this is a "hybrid" ROM made from (1) and (3)! As mentioned above, the "parameter.txt" was edited to account for the larger system.img.
When flashing this ROM in AndroidTool V2.3 OR RKAndroidTool v1.37 (see link below), first click on "EraseIDB" (低格) to remove all existing NAND contents (make sure you have backups!) Then select ALL of the following: Loader, Parameter, Misc, Kernel, Boot, Recovery, System. Put a checkmark in front of each one (including Parameter) and be sure to choose the actual file from the extracted archive by clicking on the rightmost column of each item. Clear other checkmarks, double check everything and when ready, click the "Run" (执行) button.
Your Android stick should auto-reboot right after the flashing is done. Therefore, it is recommended to connect the USB power cable (if you have a spare one) while flashing, and when finished, let the Android stick initialize for some minutes before unplugging it from power.
This ROM contains Android version 4.4.2 (KitKat). To activate 1080p, you MUST go to Settings -> Display -> Screen -> HDMI Mode and choose a 1080p resolution. SuperSU is installed BUT the system does not seem to be rooted. If you get a notification that the NAND Flash cannot be mounted, just click on it and you will be prompted to format it.
Again, if you do not have the EXACT device model mentioned in this post, STOP here and don't flash!

Comments and feedback are welcome!

**Update**
An issue with the new ROM was identified and fixed as of 7PM UTC on 05/18/2015. The updated ROM containing the fix had been uploaded. If you downloaded the ROM prior to the date/time above, please re-download it from the link in the first post and follow the instructions again.
All flashing instructions have been tested on my own device and confirmed working.
Thanks so much for posting this. I finally managed to un-brick my TV stick and get it working again, now with real 1080p!
I used RKAndroidTool v1.37, entered the offsets manually from parameters.txt according to your file and everything flashed successfully after hours of repeated attempts to flash various other ROMs. Originally I was trying to flash various Linux images unsuccessfully and I thought I bricked the device. Turns out I didn't. Thanks again!

I'm trying to flash my Redmi 9A using the MiFlash tool but I keep getting the following error: "Flash preloader error"
I've tried looking it up in google but can't find anything related.
Anyone has any idea on how to fix this error?

If you try to flash the original rom check out this video. It is in Spanish but I think it can help you. At the time it helped me revive a Xiaomi Redmi 8.

ok - I had the same problem. I needed a cheap Westernized Xiaomi to ensure I can look after my child's digital wellbeing. Was really annoying - I purchased it expecting it to be the same as previous models and years where I have converted for colleagues here in China. However, there were problems immediately.
Seven days for a bootloader unlock - bugger that. Also, unable to install GAPPS without changing to GLobal Rom? urgh!
ok - I have a strange set up involving a MacBook pro and parallels. Mosty it works for my nowadays limited android needs. Certainly, I didn't expect this phone to be such a hassle. After the initial 7 days wait for bootloader (actually 9 - because I tried another count too), I had everything set up with multiple options.
None of the software worked... maybe the problem was the apple parallels thing, but I tried a **** load of things. Finally, bootlooped it... after trying to implement the TWRP. As if wasn't going to accidentally do this with the multitude of options to accidentally mess with.
So ... Long story ... short, I ended up not using parallels or software at all.
Did the fastboot/adb solve via Mac. Super annoying, because I don't really know and was unable to find out which I files I was supposed to flash.
Managed to un-bootloop from a Chinese Rom, but couldn't get any of the Roms downloaded to work... Was wondering even if my 9A 4gb 64gb mem was even classified as a Redmi 9A in global areas?
Anyway, finally fastboot Flashed a whole heap of files from a European from that did the trick. Think it was this one:
dandelion_eea_global_images_V12.0.11.0.QCDEUXM_20210225.0000.00_10.0_eea
But I seriously have no idea which files I was supposed to and which order etc.
I think I went something like fastboot flashed: recovery, boot, Vbmeta_system, vbmeta, vbmeta_vendor, userdata, super, recovery.
Super stressful....
HOpe this is some help.
Good luck.

If your device can boots finely, you can skip flashing preloader.

how do i Skip it?
just put the stock rom folder in the C disk partition, luckily it worked for me.
Fixed!
Here's what you do:
1) Make sure there are no spaces in the name of your ROM folder and MiFlash folder
2) Move your rom folder inside MiFlash folder.
3) Now move that MiFlash folder inside C drive. Directly inside C drive, not any other folder.
Go back and flash

I've got this box from my cable operator.
It has a pretty powerful Amlogic s905x3 processor but I'm not sure about the amount of RAM.
There is no reset button in the AV hole.
Is there a way to flash the box with a different firmware or at least run Coreelec?

Well, this box has adb access enabled by default. Even root I was able to issue settings command which enabled me to access package installer to install button mapper and then assign home key. Then I added leanbackonfire launcher to bypass the default one. I installed the apps I needed and they work fine even though there are no Google play services.
can you extract the default Live TV app from this box ?
guess this is the only box which can make use of DVB tuner using TIF .
I can if you tell me where to look for it. There is some kind of provider launcher app which starts the tuner and shows channels and enables tuning to them via dvb-c tuner. I saw the live TV app somewhere in the apps.
I used X-plore to copy apks. They seem to be fine.
hi can anyone tell me howto access terminal for this board does it go over otg?
If you are running firmware from February this year, adb access is open and you can log in as root. There have been some reports of firmware update that closes this hole but I haven't received it yet. Make sure your box is on to connect to it.
it works thanks will install leanbackonfire launcher, is there any custom roms for this board?
I suggest you install Wolf Launcher because it's lighter than leanbackonfire. The box is encrypted and there is no reset button. I tried to boot TWRP but it didn't work. The bootloader probably only installs signed zips.
thanks for the advice.
is there anyway to stop it from updating firmware been searching trough services cant find it?
The don't use Updater I think because I started it manually and searched for updates but there were none. I think the update comes from the cable system. I think all your installed apps will be there even after update. You may just loose the ability to log into the box.
Is there a way to access the android at all, my operator doesn't let me do anything, it starts it's own app immediately by default and u don't have access to android at all.
Supernova Move box software modding

Hi guys,
I have a problem with my device. I'm trying to install the wolf launcher and button mapper. My device got a firmware update that locked enabling USB debugging I haven't enabled it before the update. I have tried with ADB (over USB and WIFI) but without success. Over wifi, I can ping my device but I can't connect to it. The error is "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. (10061)". The next solution which I have tried is creating a zip file with TWRP example which contains META-INFO and system folders. In the system folder, i added apk files for the wolf launcher and button mapper. I entered into RECOVERY mode and tried running update from USB but I have got the error "Signature Verification error (21)" Do you have a solution for installing a launcher on this device?
You could try enabling CEC on the box and then use your TV remote to access settings. From there you can go to apps and by using file browser or apk installer install the launcher from USB. Unfortunately, not all TV remotes can trigger settings menu on the box. My Hisense smart tv remote can't but some Samsung and LG can.

so it can be done only on Smart TV?
If you can access recovery, you can downgrade to older fw with adb access.
i don't have access throw adb even in recovery
Some people say that they can go into recovery by keeping the power button pressed and plugging in the power adapter. If you can get into recovery, I can send you the old fw with adb access to flash in recovery. Downgrading fw works fine.
