Question P11 plus - bed pen? - Lenovo P11

Hi, I bought the Lenovo precision pen 2. It works fine but it doesn't capture in an accurate manner what I write or paint. When I try to do the shape of an eye for example, the line isn't smooth and curved (see photo). Is this a problem with the tablet or the pen?

I thought it's Wacom fault.
Mine has similar problem and makes writing difficult.
When I use the pen for scrolling, I notice it's like stop and go
However, Wacom Bamboo Ink Plus doesn't have such problem with P11 Pro

Sorry, basically you said that the lenovo precision pen gives you trouble? In all other fields the pen functions well, just not in writing or painting

I don't have Precision Pen 2 because it's not available in US
I bought Wacom Bamboo Ink Plus instead.
I thought it doesn't fully compatible with P11+ and Yoga Tab 11, but now I suspect Precision Pen 2 and Bamboo Ink Plus are the same

I have just found Precision Pen 2 and I ordered it, but it may take 2-3 weeks to ship.
Stay tuned for update.
Besides pen, P11+ is actually a good tablet for the price and there's a Motorola version as well (G70).
I suspect it's firmware issue can it can be corrected. If same problem happens on my forthcoming Precision Pen 2, I will tell the issue to Lenovo support to correct it.
Yes, Wacom Bamboo Ink Plus works 100% with P11 Pro. You should switch to Pro if writing does matter.

Good luck. Ill probably replace to xiaomi pad 5 because of the pwm in the pro.
Edit: the problem was the screen glass protector

Glad I found this thread...
I bought a Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 7, it comes with the Precision Pen 2... Since the very first moment I put a screen protector, and when tried the pen for the first time I realized that when drawing diagonals lines they were all "wavy" (as the red lines in the screenshot attached), the weird thing is that only for diagonals, the "straight" ones are drawn well, the same happened to you? I wanna believe it's the screen protector and not a faulty screen or pen... I should remove the screen protector to test but I had a hard time getting one for this model here in Spain haha.

You're not alone
Mine (both P11+ and Yoga Tab 11) have similar issue while the pen works perfectly with Yoga Tab 13

I have a p11 plus and the precision pen 2. My lines are all slightly wavy, unless I make the line very fast! I suspect the firmware needs to be worked out.

I few days ago I removed a screen protector I had since day one on my Lenovo Yoga (9i Gen 7)... I it turned out that the screen protector was causing the wavy lines, now it works lovely, as it should.

I have no screen protector. The wavyness is bad as the OP. Just annoying.

I have a p11 and the precision pen 2
writing and drawing is difficult because the lines are not following my strokes
will remove the screen protector to see if the situation improves...

... so yes, on Bamboo Paper (Notes) the capturing of my strokes dramatically improved.
With Paper Draw the capturing of my strokes is less accurate ...
So, it looks as if there is also a difference is results, depending what app is used...

PS: Sketchbook on Lenovo p11 with Precision Pen2 -> very good results

I saw this thread earlier and decided to remove my glass screen protector and now the pen works great, but I was thinking to put a plastic screen protector will the pen freak-out again ?

Does the S-Pen really work also on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 2 ?

Though it works in the video, its clearly not working the same. Clearly he should be able to see this. Its just working like a capacitive stylus. The pressure sensitivity is not working.

Even if that is the case, that's excellent because the spen has a very small nib for precision as opposed to the fat capacitive ones.
I didn't watch the video, but it certainly does not work as a capacitive stylus. It has a plastic tip. The screen doesn't even detect the tip touching it. It only detects where it is near the screen and uses the pressure sensor. For example, if you bring the pen near and push the tip with your finger, it will think that it touched the screen.
Could anyone try who have both Tablets ?
I have both. It doesn't work. If you look into the technology that makes the s pen it's obviously it won't work. That's why your s pen won't work with capacitive touch screens like the iPhone. The device needs to have an active digitizer.

The display on the Note is inductive. The earlier Tabs are conductive. A conductive display won't recognize an inductive stylus. An inductive display will recognize a conductive stylus.

I hoped they build some of the new screens with s-technology also into the TAB 2 for some reasons...
So its only a coincident, or not true...
Thanks you for your answers
Actually Galaxy Notes have capacitive AND inductive touch screens - capacitive is for finger touch while inductive (Wacom) is for the pen.

Actually it seems I misread the topic of the linked website
On the website they say its the Galaxy TAB 10.1 N which does use the active stylus too,
This page asked samsung an they said it true...

Well, but would be a bit slow compared to the quad core...
Wow, this is interesting. Maybe all Samsung tabs will have Wacom from now on?
Hey guys,
thanks for sharing my article and video, I am happy to find my content on xda.
As splotz clarified, this is a Tab 10.1N which is a special version for the German market, since Apple successfully banned the original 10.1 here. Unfortunately, other users cannot reproduce the S-Pen working with the 10.1N nor the Tab 2.
I contacted the developer (it's his Tab) and asked for screenshots of the Software version.

Highly Dissapointed

I'm supposed to be thrilled by this tablet, in fact I still am (not with mine). A family member traveled to U.S and I ordered a White Note 10.1 and my auncle told me it didn't came with the S Pen which instantly put me in a sad mood all day. I can't find not even 1 site in my country that is selling the spen for the Note 10.1. The main reason I bought this tablet was because I wanted to have the S pen function.. I still does not have the tablet, mostly I'll be getting it tomorrow since they are arriving today, and tomorrow in my city.. I wanted to know just in case if The S Pen of the Galaxy notes 1 and 2 (phones) works good on the tablet? I'm not even excited anymore.. :crying:
I'm just hoping they didn't realize the S pen comes inside the tablet, even tho it's explained in an image in the back of the tablet..
thats very odd, did your uncle buy a 2nd hand tablet thats missing a pen? anyway im sure you can buy an S-pen on ebay, or buy the s-pen from international websites.
also i dont think the pen for note 1 and 2 will work.

Are you sure you bought the Galaxy Note 10.1? Because there's no Galaxy Note 10.1 being sold without the S-Pen. So in my point of view maybe you mistook and bought something like Galaxy Tab (2 or 10.1), such there's no S-Pen coming on those.
If you ordered a Galaxy Note 10.1 from amazon and you received a different one, you can challenge them to be refunded or to change it to the correct ordered product.
Also, FYI, the S-Pen won't work on Galaxy Tab series, it only works on Galaxy Note series because there's an active detection panel on the capacitive screen which locates the S-Pen indication/touch (If you bring the S-Pen closer than 3mm the panel locates the S-Pen approximation without touching it on the screen). And this panel is only present on Galaxy Note Series

Yes I ordered the Galaxy Note 10.1, I know the concept and all, he sent me a picture and it is the note.., but it seems the s pen is missing somehow didn't came in the tablet (maybe problem of furbished or idk), it's brand new, I'm about to receive it.. I hope everything is fine..
So.. I just receive the Galaxy note 10.1 and.. It has the Spen inside My auncle told me he had no idea it was there cause he actually open the box and putted right on the leather case backwards (wrong side) so he couldnt see the S pen lol. I love it! My only question is about the Spen, is normal to push it into the screen to actually use it? I feel its not like feeling the touch like my finger which is very smooth
Great to hear that you got the full package. enjoy!
"Push it into the screen"... did you mean you have to write hard? the tip the S Pen comes with (black tip) is a relatively soft one. if you want smoother feeling you can change to the white tip, which is harder. Personally I feel that the white one is too smooth...
Also, some screen protector make the S Pen black tip hard to use. I used to have an anti-glare screen protector on my note 10.1 and it doesn't feel good to write on with black tip.

Yeah sorry if u didnt understand, sometimes is hard for me to explain some things cause my main language is spanish
Well I feel like I have to push the spen hard in the screen for it to write which I dont really like lol I thougut its supposed to touch the screen and works just like your fingers.. and that kinda bothers me.. how can I change that you are saying. I did notice it came a few black and white sticks but I have no idea how that workx? Thank you
Im not ussing any screen protector..
Use the metal ring that came with tips to pull the black tip out. Theres a little hole where the tip is gripped. Now get a white tip and insert it with the metal ring. Just make sure you insert with the rounded end out....

Yes I just checked that, I don't really note much difference about the black one and the white one.. Is it normal that It doesn't recognize the sensitive when it's touching the screen and not pushing it?
The screen is pressure sensitive, like with a pen, the harder you press down the more "ink" is released and the thicker the line. Even using the finger can take a bit of pressure sometimes, especially when plugged into power...

Alternative pens for Note 8

I have been going in circles trying to find a compatible pen for my Note 8. Many that claim compatibility have an offset when in use. Pens that I have tried:
Wacom Bamboo Stylus Feel CS300UK from Best Buy - 2mm offset & reported by many.
On order Wacom Bamboo Stylus Feel CS300UK2 - said to be compatible.
Samsung S Pen and Holder Kit. <2mm offset.
The supplied pen & a replacement Galaxy Note 8 stylus work fine with no offset.
There is a good thread at xda regarding the same issues with the Galaxy Note 10.1. I am not sure if the information pertaining to the Note 10.1 can be applied to the Note 8.
BTW The offset is present with the 4 app that I have tried.
It would be nice to see a chart of compatible pens, listing various tablets & the cross platform compatibility of the pens. Many products are listed as "compatible with Samsung Galaxy Note", but there appears to be some variance between the Galaxy Note products related to this offset. Otherwise they work fine.
Thanks,
kev
I have just received a chinese replica I ordered a few days ago.
I wanted to have a replacement Spen which could fit the built-in hole, and of course It does fit. In fact is basically the same stylus without branding. The only issue with this Spen is the offset you mentioned above. All in all, mine doesn't have such a big offset, may be less than 1mm. The gap is so small that is very difficult to measure. I don´t regret the purchase, beside the fact that It only cost 6,19$.
I have attached some photos of the replica.

I got the same non-branded pens & they too suffered with too much offset for me. They also had a wobbly tip. I ended up with a Wacom Bamboo Stylus Feel. Had to order it from Wacom directly to get the version that works with the Note 8. The model number is CS300UK2. It must have the "2" to work with the Note 8. The ones at Best Buy & most other retailers are CS300UK. The "K" is for black, so the white one would be CS300UW2.
Cheers,

I also bought a Chinese duplicate. However, my experience with it is not as great.
It is not a perfect fit into the slot. You hage to apply alot more pressure than you would for the Official pen to get it to fit fully snuggly.
It has also broke for me after about a month and is now completely unusable.
Am considering just getting a the Wacom Feel for Note devices. Please let me know how you are finding it!

The Feel works well for me. As I mentioned, I had to get the right one. It feels better in the hand than the stock stylus & the tip (soft) is very smooth on the screen without feeling too slippery. Haven't tried the hard replacement supplied.

[Q] Best stylus for writing?

I'm actually looking for a stylus too but since we don't have the ability to support active pens using hardware I'm also stuck in a pinch like you since I want to take notes using it. I'm planning on kickstarting
DotPen. I removed the link since I don't know if I'm allowed to post it here but do a quick search on kickstarter website or google and it should pop up (by Dot-Tec).
hopefully it turns out well. I considered getting the adonit ones but their support emailed me back saying they built it with apple products in mind and cannot tell me how well it would be on an android tablet
Well, I came acroos a company called Dagi, they seem to make products very similar to Adonit, only they work with android as well.... see here
and here
It seems like the Dagi is on par with its counterpart and even slightly better.
It makes way less noise when writing, which is important. The Adonit makes so much noise its ridiculous... it sounds like someone is doing the dishes. the Adonit Jot script also has this metal tip which makes too much noise when wrting,
Dagi is a bit cheaper as well.
Anyway, I would really rather have a soft tip stylus purely due to the noise factor and "feel". I don't want to feel like I am about to harm the screen.... maybe when a glass screen protector comes out.
I am also looking for a stylus for writing and drawing and I have taken a look at the Dagi and Adonit. While they both seem to work very well my fear for buying either is the multiple reviews from many different sites about them scratching the screen... I thought about getting a Zagg screen protector but then there are reviews stating that they do not work well with those and I don't want to risk reducing the screen quality using one.
Are these reviews unfounded or does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thank you,
Grev
I'm having good results with an inexpensive Targus metal-barreled capacitive stylus. It has the big rubber tip but I've adjusted to it. I would like to try one of the 3mm capacitive stylus.
I use an ikross which can be found on either ebay or Amazon for about $8.00 and come packs of two. Also check the Samsung c-pen which also works really well. The great thing about these tablets, is that they use the same screens as the galaxy s5, s4, s3 rather than led screens which are very temperamental on which capacitive stylus work.

Are you using that stylus on the "S"? I only ask as my next question is to find out if it is scratching the screen?
Well, this sucks. One of my favorite features of the s5 is being able to write on the screen with a normal pencil, pen, whatever I have handy. Despite having the same "increase touch sensitivity" option in the tab s display settings it really doesn't work at all. Not sure what the technological difference is...

No Wacom = crap, no matter what stylus you use.
Samsung C Pen
I've been looking for an option with a fine tip myself and noticed that Samsung offered a C Pen for the Galaxy S3. Well, I decided to get it and try it on my Tab S 8.4. I can say that it works well on the screen straight up, meaning no screen protector. I added an Illumishield Blue Light screen protector on it and it works but not quite as well as without. There seems to bee a little bit of "sticking" instead of gliding smoothly across the screen. This is of course the screen protectors issue and not the pen. I will swap it out once there is a tempered glass version available.
I can use it as a pointer and tap to launch and do things. In S Note, it works very well. I'd even say it works better in S Note than it does in Evernote at this point.
I think this is going to work out well. After all, it does have just a 3mm tip so you can see what you're actually doing and it's not nearly as expensive as most styli that are available.

Wacom bamboo stylus solo 2
But still hope for new galaxy note 8.4 with an amoled screen.
I am using a simple capacitive stylus from Hama for EUR 4,99. Seems to be similar to the Bamboo solo. Works perfektly for taping. I had to set touch sensitivity to high in settings to use it reliably at quick swyping. Works like a charm then. Much better for my needs than inductive pens (have several other Tablets with those).
Disk stylus are fine for precise constructing and diagramming. For scribbling and most other regular work a simpler soft end stylus such as bamboo is better, imho.
there are many active stylus out there.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Galaxy C-Pen Stylus Pen works perfectly
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Galaxy C-Pen Stylus Pen works perfectly with the 8.4" Tab S. Though the product specs say it works only on S3, I tried it with the Tab S and it just glided.
The pen looks premium with a metal body and a hard tip. The hard tip gives it a nice feel while writing as compared to the usual hollow rubber tips.
http://www.ebay.com/gds/Samsung-ETC-...5756258/g.html
I found it lying in the corner in a mobile accessory shop and the shopkeeper was happy to get rid of the old stock for $15. Look around and you may find one.
It seems 'active stylus' is the future for all non-wacom devices.
Search for 'active stylus for ipad'. Add 'for ipad' for filtering out many wacom like products.

No, I don't. If you want cheap, you can go out and buy a standard stylus with a huge nib that won't let you draw (or write) with any real precision. There are plenty of those available on the market.
If you want quality, you have to pay for it. That's what you did buying this tablet, right?

Like another poster previously suggested, a cheaper (but still good) alternative would be Samsung's C-Pen. You can get one for about $25-$30 on eBay.
Anyone else have experience with this pen on the Tab S?

this one?
You can find any pen which support n-trig technology ? it can use for only Pro 2020 and pro 2021 version . That mean all surface pen or oem stylus pen which support for surface pro >= 4 can be use with lenovo pad pro 2021 with full feature like the offical lenovo pen
My surface pen is the 1776 model
Bought it with the Surface pro 2017.
And can use it without pairing, so as a pen only, so no buttons will work on it... As I'm unable to see it in the Bluetooth menu.

you can only use the buttons when you point the pen tip to screen , because this pen does not design like Spen from samsung so it just used only for note taking or draw (without bluetooth )
Hi..I've bought a hp g3 pen..as was under impression it's compatible..the screen works with finger but not pen?
Turned out it was knackered..internal battery was dead..Lenovo hasn't stocked the precision pen 2 for weeks..I give up
Any pen with n-trig technology should work
I just bought Nefelibata stylus on the Bezos mega mart. Works fine, didn't test the buttons yet but parm rejection worked and the pen felt comfortable to hold. Only £20 so a well priced alternative. Slightly annoying micro usb (not USBC) to charge, but we can live with that!

Hi russy23
As asked by evaw, did you try this stylus with the P11, P11 Plus or P11 Pro?
And are you satisfied?
Thank you.

Tried on p11 pro 2021..don't use it..you need to press pretty hard to see anything on screen..seems to hard
Does any Wacom Bamboo pen work?
Forget about Precision Pen 2 as it's no more

Okay. Thank you for the feedback. I won't invest in this pen.
The one we got works well on p11 pro 2021. We don't need to press hard. I've never used one before but I was quite impressed at the range of pressures and effects in a drawing app using a charcoal pen, but it also worked fine with other pens selected in the app. Not sure why others are having difficulties, we're on the latest zui 13 if that helps?
