Hey I just got my h5 and so far loving it. Has anyone gotten the 360 cam? I'm excited to get it but have a question on it. How does the process for sharing the photos work? If I were to share it with an iOS device, do I share it like any other photo and they can see the 360 effect ?

No - sharing has been the biggest challenge with the camera. But I absolutely love the camera.
If you text it to them, or even email it, it almost always comes as a flat jpeg when opened on a mobile device or even desktop/laptop.
What I have taken to doing is to upload it to either Google Photos or Flickr, and then sharing direct links to the photos via text or email, but even then on iOS they have to tap the photo (or the 360 icon) to see it in it's full mode. It's a bit of a challenge and Android has an advantage on viewing these on mobile devices at the moment (especially if you share the link via Google Photos).
On a desktop/laptop, Google Photos or Flickr both look really nice and there is not much more work to be done by the end user. It's much more intuitive on a bigger screen.
Videos are also a challenge - you can upload them to Facebook without much issue. Youtube requires you to package them first before they can be viewed as 360.
It's definitely an early adopter problem and will probably get easier in time.

Question about video length: I read in the manual that at highest video quality, time is limited to 20 minutes. However it also says that if it hits the maximum file size of 4 GB that it will continue recording in a new file. So is it possible to record longer than 20 minutes, and does it just break it into extra files?

That was not true of the original software, but I haven't tried if since the two updates. It was originally limited to just 20 minutes at a time, and then you had to hit record again.
But if it's in the manual that way now, I will try it again right now with the May 24th update and see what happens!
EDIT: Just to update, it did not roll into another file and continue recording. At 20 minutes (2.44 gb) it stopped recording and that was it (Software version R10510e).
OK, thanks for testing it out. Too bad, that is the one thing holding me up from buying one.
As long as there won't be a way to see pictures and videos without an online service, I won't buy it.
I haven't tried to share videos yet, but for the photos sphereshare.net is pretty cool. They have an Android app as well. I used my cam pretty heavily the first few days after I got it...Now it just sits. :-/
Video sharing remains an issue.
So far, the only way to get decent stitching is to download it from the 360cam wirelessly to the G5, then share that file.
Pulling the video off the microSD card from the 360cam, injecting the spatial metadata as instructed on this page:

and uploading those results to youtube gives really sh*tty stitching.
Has any tried taking a photo/video from two of these next to each other and putting it into a 3D 360 file for use in VR headsets? I really don't understand the point of using a VR headset with a 2D image, even if it is 360 degrees.

You don't need to bother with any of that. Just upload the video to YouTube and wait for a few minutes after the processing has finished. the 360 video works very well with YouTube with no stitching.
EDIT: I checked for another firmware update today and there was one waiting.

Hmm, the ones I uploaded without the 360 mod never got converted. And the ones that had the mod had crappy stitching.
Maybe I need to wait longer for the non-modded version to get processed?

Only if you don't edit the video in youtube editor. If you want to upload the original video, it does just fine, but cutting the time of the video down or fixing potential shaking and it won't be recognized as 360. At least in my experience.
I just started using it as a dashcam, it's pretty neat the only issue i have right now is the 20 minute limit, gotta figure out a way to have it start a new recording after the 20 minutes.

Here's an attachment picture of the auto 'stitching' boundary done by Youtube. Not good at all, compared to what you view on the phone after downloading:
Now, this was recorded without the more recent firmwares, just the one it came with.
I just upgraded the more recent 10G version, so maybe that makes a difference to youtube.

That's what I mean. The YouTube stitching is awful (using their tool).
Yes, you have to wait for quite a long time for the YouTube conversion to happen automatically after you upload the file. The longer the video, the longer the wait.
EDIT: I have noticed that the stitching is much worse in poor light conditions. Bright light, no problems.
So, still no way to selh host his videos/photos in 360. No self hostable player ?
I mean, I host all my services on personal servers at home, and don't want to be dependant of youtube/wathever to host my videos.

The video resolution, is it only 2k?
Can we record 1080p? If yes, is it also limited to 20 minutes?

Directly to what? I've been Hawaii this weekend and am giving my 360 cam a good break in... take pictures, transfer to phone, upload to Facebook flawlessly so far.
I wonder what will happen further down the line when I don't own a pixel anymore and my Google storage allowance is full because I filled it up with full resolution photos when I did have a Pixel.
How will Google deal with that? Will they look at the image's metadata to establish whether a particular photo was taken on a Pixel or some other phone?
I don't have a source but I read somewhere that it is only for photos and video you took with you pixel. I would assume that means those photos and video don't count toward your storage usage.
I would imagine they use the meta-data from the pixel. Sounds like someone should write a tool to re-encode all your images to have the pixel meta information.

I haven't yet tried it on the phone but the raw .ARW files upload to Google Photos via the Backup and Sync From Google software on Windows so they may as well on android.

Photos and Videos taken with Pixel phones can upload at original quality. I have tried using other phones, but all I got is backup at high quality. I don't see much difference except the file size on Pixel photo/video backup is bigger.
Now, if you use Windows PC and try to upload a photo/video file, then there are 2 choices(High Quality or Original quality), but you need to set it in the Google Photos settings(default I believe is High Quality)
It appears to me that everything backed up by the photos app goes at original quality. I had not previously used the auto backup feature on my nexus, so when I transitioned all my files to the pixel 2 I let it go wild and it uploaded all my transferred files.
But do the Nexus files take up Google account storage space?
I'm trying to take advantage of the store-everything-as-Original option the Pixel 2 offers, so I'm trying to find out if media is evaluated as "Produced By A Pixel 2" so it falls under that.
Are the photos created on your Nexus -- but uploaded from the Pixel 2 -- counting towards your Google storage or are they exempted from storage use by falling under the Pixel 2's "store unlimited Original photos/videos" grace? I know I can do it all under High Quality, but I'd like to do it as Original and take advantage of unlimited storage option I have by using the Pixel 2 .

I think it's any picture files -- video I imagine they might do more detection or you could potentially backup whole seasons and series worth of episodes and movies... -- simply uploaded from the pixel 2/XL falls under the unlimited original quality photos/videos. I purposefully downloaded all pictures taking up space in my Google Drive, as well as the photos I've accumulated over the years, and input it in my phone; had Google Photos (stock app) "back[it]up", and checked to see if any space was being taken up in my Google Drive...and it was not! I've actually "converted" folders and gigabytes of photos taking up physical space on my devices taking advantage of this feature. Once I saw a hint that Google Photos didn't really discriminate what photos was being backed up, I definitely wanted to test and take advantage if it were possible.

Hey cool, thanks for sharing that! I'll have to test it more myself (like with raw .ARW images, which aren't something the Pixel 2 would produce) and see if it'll handle those the same way as .jpg images.
So i just came back from a holiday in Japan. As i am using a google pixel, my stored photos automatically goes to the google photos app. but the app is not synced on the cloud (meaning i never signed in with google photos) as i don't intend to use it as a cloud storage, but just a normal stock photo storage on my phone.
So after the trip, i created a new album and sorted out the best photos out of the trip and put it there. I named it "for profile pics photos"
Now, the storage memory is getting full, so i moved the photos from the camera folder to my harddrive through Solid file explorer, but i didn't touch the "for profile pics photos" album.)
When i checked the google photos app, the "for profile pics photos" album is gone! i was shocked and i was looking for the specific photos everywhere. it's gone. My best pics from the trip is gone! i am so pissed.
I double checked in the harddrive if the photos got transferred there but it wasn't. it just got lost!
I also checked the trash in the google photos, it's also not there!
How can i retrieve those photos? why is google photos like this. is this a common problem for a google phone?
Just for what it's worth and because no one has replied yet, I haven't had this problem but I only don't use Photos' backup option on my non-Pixel devices. On my Pixel devices, I use the free full quality backup. On my non-Pixel devices, although I use Photos as a gallery app, I use Mega with its free 50 GB of cloud storage to backup my pictures and videos. It's not as seamless as with Photos.
I should also add I haven't done the exact steps you have on a phone where Photos isn't set to backup automatically.

Is it possible to get google photos to backup photos from a USB OTG folder without having to copy the pictures on the phone?
I did some searching and saw some suggestions for FolderSync. The problem with the app is that I can't browse to the USB OTG folder.

If you're OK with slightly reduced quality (not really an issue or visible unless blowing up the photos to large print sizes) you can just drag them into Google Photos on your computer in a web browser. The Pixel does offer the free original size backups but I am not sure if that's for anything uploaded FROM the phone or only photos/videos captured with the phone camera (based on EXIF or similar).
