Hey I just got my h5 and so far loving it. Has anyone gotten the 360 cam? I'm excited to get it but have a question on it. How does the process for sharing the photos work? If I were to share it with an iOS device, do I share it like any other photo and they can see the 360 effect ?

No - sharing has been the biggest challenge with the camera. But I absolutely love the camera.
If you text it to them, or even email it, it almost always comes as a flat jpeg when opened on a mobile device or even desktop/laptop.
What I have taken to doing is to upload it to either Google Photos or Flickr, and then sharing direct links to the photos via text or email, but even then on iOS they have to tap the photo (or the 360 icon) to see it in it's full mode. It's a bit of a challenge and Android has an advantage on viewing these on mobile devices at the moment (especially if you share the link via Google Photos).
On a desktop/laptop, Google Photos or Flickr both look really nice and there is not much more work to be done by the end user. It's much more intuitive on a bigger screen.
Videos are also a challenge - you can upload them to Facebook without much issue. Youtube requires you to package them first before they can be viewed as 360.
It's definitely an early adopter problem and will probably get easier in time.
I'm still debating on getting it. I love the idea

Question about video length: I read in the manual that at highest video quality, time is limited to 20 minutes. However it also says that if it hits the maximum file size of 4 GB that it will continue recording in a new file. So is it possible to record longer than 20 minutes, and does it just break it into extra files?

That was not true of the original software, but I haven't tried if since the two updates. It was originally limited to just 20 minutes at a time, and then you had to hit record again.
But if it's in the manual that way now, I will try it again right now with the May 24th update and see what happens!
EDIT: Just to update, it did not roll into another file and continue recording. At 20 minutes (2.44 gb) it stopped recording and that was it (Software version R10510e).
OK, thanks for testing it out. Too bad, that is the one thing holding me up from buying one.
As long as there won't be a way to see pictures and videos without an online service, I won't buy it.
I haven't tried to share videos yet, but for the photos sphereshare.net is pretty cool. They have an Android app as well. I used my cam pretty heavily the first few days after I got it...Now it just sits. :-/
Video sharing remains an issue.
So far, the only way to get decent stitching is to download it from the 360cam wirelessly to the G5, then share that file.
Pulling the video off the microSD card from the 360cam, injecting the spatial metadata as instructed on this page:
https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6316263
and uploading those results to youtube gives really sh*tty stitching.
Has any tried taking a photo/video from two of these next to each other and putting it into a 3D 360 file for use in VR headsets? I really don't understand the point of using a VR headset with a 2D image, even if it is 360 degrees.

You don't need to bother with any of that. Just upload the video to YouTube and wait for a few minutes after the processing has finished. the 360 video works very well with YouTube with no stitching.
EDIT: I checked for another firmware update today and there was one waiting.

Hmm, the ones I uploaded without the 360 mod never got converted. And the ones that had the mod had crappy stitching.
Maybe I need to wait longer for the non-modded version to get processed?

Only if you don't edit the video in youtube editor. If you want to upload the original video, it does just fine, but cutting the time of the video down or fixing potential shaking and it won't be recognized as 360. At least in my experience.
I just started using it as a dashcam, it's pretty neat the only issue i have right now is the 20 minute limit, gotta figure out a way to have it start a new recording after the 20 minutes.

Here's an attachment picture of the auto 'stitching' boundary done by Youtube. Not good at all, compared to what you view on the phone after downloading:
Now, this was recorded without the more recent firmwares, just the one it came with.
I just upgraded the more recent 10G version, so maybe that makes a difference to youtube.

That's what I mean. The YouTube stitching is awful (using their tool).
Yes, you have to wait for quite a long time for the YouTube conversion to happen automatically after you upload the file. The longer the video, the longer the wait.
EDIT: I have noticed that the stitching is much worse in poor light conditions. Bright light, no problems.
So, still no way to selh host his videos/photos in 360. No self hostable player ?
I mean, I host all my services on personal servers at home, and don't want to be dependant of youtube/wathever to host my videos.
Questions about video :
The video resolution, is it only 2k?
Can we record 1080p? If yes, is it also limited to 20 minutes?
Thanks
Anyone able to upload 360 picture directly to and have it show up properly?
Can't seem to be able to do it

Directly to what? I've been Hawaii this weekend and am giving my 360 cam a good break in... take pictures, transfer to phone, upload to Facebook flawlessly so far.

I'm now uploading them to facebook but noticed vid quality got reduced on that platform.
I will probably go dropbox in the meantime.
Why is youtube direct upload still missing?

Your "trick" doesn't work at least on Samsung Focus.
P.S. Budniu, are you able to upload 720p video longer than 25-30 seconds? I just tested on Samsung Focus/HTC Surround, I can only upload max 20 seconds of 720p video. So as I said it's useless (at least for me). However probably we can do some registry tweaks to extend current attachment limit...

Now I tried upload only that movie: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18602238&postcount=6 (28 seconds but not 720p). Tomorrow I try upload 720p longer than 30 seconds.

Ok I checked - movie 720p longer than 30 seconds can't upload by that method. You rights, sr.

I really don't understand why facebook can't handle 720p vids correctly...
I'm going to be doing some international travel into locations with very limited bandwidth. I'd like to be able to regularly upload videos to youtube and some photos but still take photos/videos. My problem is that I really need to downsample the video and reduce the photo sizes to upload them where I will be at. Are there any good apps that make it easy to simply downsample a video for youtube upload and (probably another app) to reduce pixel size of photos in bulk ahead of time or during upload?
I don't really ever think about this here since I have about 5Mb upload at home I can just upload to my hearts content. Once that drops to about 128k though that really changes things. I know how to easily do it all on my laptop but really want to just travel with my tablet if possible.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
FYI in case anyone else is ever looking for these kinds of solutions.
Images can be done with Image Shrink. Install app the go to gallery, and select image(s) and share to image shrink. The app will shrink as configured and then share to another image app.

Video is best done with Video Converter Android. Install app then codec as indicated in app. Videos can be selected in app and then batch converted and downsized as configured.

Both apps have lite versions but I bought both to support devs and get rid of ads.

Good morning XDA community! I'm not sure if this post should go here, so if it doesn't... I'll take my flaming and you can move it.
If you're anything like myself, you enjoy reminding iPhone users how much better Android devices are any chance you get. I'm a huge fan of Snapchat and use it religiously. If you use this app, here's a cool way to mess with iPhone users:
First, you have to be rooted. Once rooted, you'll need the Snapshare Xposed module. This will allow you to share videos from your gallery through Snapchat. Now, for those of us that have slow motion recording, it gets even more entertaining. You can use your regular camera app to record something in slow motion (doesn't really matter what, everything looks awesome in slow- mo). Once you've recorded what you want, you need to trim it (scissors icon when you're on the thumbnail in gallery). Keep in mind that Snapchat only allows 10 seconds worth of video.
Once you have the video down to 10 seconds, you'll need an app in the Play Store called Video Compressor (yes, it's free). Since Snapchat has a 2.5MB limit on videos, it won't let you send an uncompressed video. The Video Compressor app is super easy to use. Open it, hit start, select the video in your gallery and it defaults to 10 seconds long. Start the compression and when it's done, it'll allow you to save it or share it. You can click share, then Snapshare, and send the slow-motion videos to your friends or upload them as your story.
I've done videos of me breaking ice, playing pool and my cat leaping into the air. Again... Everything looks awesome in slow-mo. The response from the iPhone users is great.
Just passing it along...
Have a great day!

The LG 360 Cam is now available to buy. I got this from Clove Technology at the same time as the VR headset.
I spent a lot of time playing and using this, my detailed review is below. Includes sample media, screen shots and more.

It looks really cool man. Will consider to buy one.
How well do you think the 360 cam would work as a dash cam?
Probably overkill
I'm also considering it for a possible dashcam, but what are the practicalities like? Can you just plug it into a USB charger and have it record continuously (1 hr+) to a sd card, or are there some limits?
From memory it's 4gb video size max.
New beta software has arrived play store after some time they take back 5.2.2 to 5.1.1
software says for new features (3d audio for example) need to update firmware but when checks no new firmware found(also check with bridge
). Do u know anything about that?
Old thread, but i dig him out...
Got the camera yesterday for small money. Less money = less risk i thought.
The first impression: Video & photo quality are lower than expected.:crying:
Tried some apps from play store to handle the camera. THan i had made a firmware update because the camera doesn’t support life monitoring with the old firmware. (LGbridge) Now it seems to work alright.
The camera uses BT connection to control the hardware and uses the w-lan to transfer picture data to smartphone.
You can change between full automatic and manual mode. I tried the auto mode at first.
After a few experiences, the results are a little bit disappointing. Under low light, the results are noisy and a little bit unsharp.
The visible quality is lower than expected.:crying: BTW: Between the front and rear pictures, there is a small visible cutting edge.
I hope, this will be fixed in next release!
I think, i will give the project a last chance with daylight now. Thinking about to return the camera to dealer....
more about the camera:
-> http://www.trustedreviews.com/lg-360-cam-review
-> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qe6B4sgtLiQ
Edit:
ok, got better results using "daylight" ! Of curse not the same quality as the LG5 camera will do, but acceptable for me.
tried to make some records like GOOGLE does. Driving along the street with G360 on top of the car. That was amazing!
tried to edit 360 video with AndroVid and it worked for me! (cutting and adding sound, no color effects or titles!) Hope i will find more apps to handle my videos.
tried to edit a 360° picture with "snapseed" and "photo editor" and it work!
see my pic in attachment. I have cut me out!
BTW: after uploading my pic, it is only 5% of size as the original one. (4,5MB>245kb)
The quality is very reduced now compared to the original!
There is a new firmware available for 360 cam. Version "L"! Can’t see any differences until now. Was described as a camera optimization only. No new features.
max. record time ~20min / ~2.3Gb. - nothing changed!
no new fw until now.

Hi,
I’m experiencing difficulties sending Videos using WhatsApp on the U12+, and I’d like to ask if anyone else has had the same issue? The problems have been...
1) WhatsApp throws up an error message, telling me that the video cannot be sent and that I should try another file.
2) Audio within some sent videos is corrupted (loud screeching/crackling noises).
If my mind serves be correctly, the problem seems to happen mostly with videos where I have zoomed in at some point. However, I because 95% of affected videos never sent in the first place - I can’t check back through my history to be sure that I’m right about that.
I found a German forum where somebody asked the same question, but no clear answer was found (although there was a suspicion that it had something to do with the audio recording mode). Additionally, the Play Store only has only one app review from a U12 user and he/she also refers to problems sending video.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Craig.
Got the same type of issue with Facebook Messenger, where the app was complaining about this "mp4 video format" not supported.
I recorded it with HTC camera app in 1080p 60fps.
No issue anymore if recorded in 1080p 30fps. Have a try...

I ran across something interesting yesterday when I was researching YouTube compatibility with the U12+'s videos.
What is your audio set to, 3D or High Res? High Res results in the video being saved as an .mkv, which isn't widely supported. 3D results in a fileformat that I'm unsure of, but it's apparently common enough to upload.

Crap, sorry. I thought it was worth a shot.
Ni,
I had the same problem but unfortunately those times that happened to me I was not able to give an explanation ... I also assumed that it was a problem of use zoom but in the last wrong posting I had a video without apperenti problems of 42 seconds converted in 11MB he didn't want to go. So today I tried all the combinations of options that I found in the camera and the only one that gave me an error in sending was when I selected sonic zoom audio.
The real problem is that I think that in some way changing from the front camera to the normal one somehow changes the option, or during some updates.
So my advice is to check before registering if this mode is active.
For example in the last test I've recorded with the normal camera with high resolution audio then set to 3d audio. Now in the front camera I find high resolution audio but in the front I never touched options and I'm sure that before the beginning of my tests it was on 3D audio.
