Eonon GA8153A support?

Hi all!
I just bought an Eonon GA8153A for my Seat Leon. Spec is as follows :
Designed for Volkswagen/SEAT/SKODA
Allwinner T8 Processor
Android 7.1 Nougat
2GB Ram
32GM Rom
Having been involved with tinkering in Android previously. I decided to look if a custom rom was available for it, I can't seem to find anything but I see lots of devices seem to all be the same ones just badged up differently. does anybody know if this unit will be compatible with any existing Roms?

So it's arrived today and I've installed it in my car, operation seems Smooth but seemingly simple feature of iPod connection is missing! I didn't expect that one to be missing. I knew Apple CarPlay was going to be a long shot but I did expect it to still have standard iPod connectivity via the usb cable!
I see there are CarPlay adapters so I'm contemplating ordering one of those for it. Both myself and my wife have Apple devices so would make sense to have the function really.
Before I spend even more money trying to get the head unit to do what I thought wore be basic functionality, am I missing the blatantly obvious to get iPod connection to work?

What's The news in Android HU scene ?

So in 2017, I bought an Andrid HU with an Intel Sofia SoC ( Joying JY-VM130N2D) for my Volkswagen.
It still works but there is some annoying bug and now i'm quiet bored of that. So I want to know what's the news on the Android HU scene.
-As I remember, the Intel SoC can boot approx. 5 sec after turn on the car and the RKXXX is always 30 sec ? How it is now ?
-Now I can see PX6, MTCE etc... what's the updates between the old one ?
-What's pro and con's between Intel and Rockchip ? It seems, there is more people who develop on RK than Intel
-Which company I should use to look for a new HU? Joying seems to stay with Intel Soc and i Don't know the brand like Xtrons, EUNAVI...

Perhaps tabulate from questions, not sure owners of one head unit will know how the shyte JY units compare to the MTC units.
Perhaps read the wiki and compare against the rubbish Unit you have.

As I understand it the current market is still Intel vs rockchip.
With RK you're still at px5/px6 which as you say, have really good community support.
Px5 and px6 headunits have come a long way. Boot time is 30 seconds from cold boot and less than one second from standby, which is the default state that the unit goes into when you turn off your car. Power drain in this standby mode is negligible and I've left my car without starting it for 3 weeks in this mode.. car started right up as did the head unit.
Biggest issue with the px6 headunits right now for me is the internet.. basically the WiFi on these units is still crap regardless of the brand you try, no matter what anyone tries to tell you or clever hardware hacks you try.
And if you want a dedicated mobile line you're forced to rely on a 4g dongle or your phones hotspot as the tablets dont support native sim cards.
The 4G dongle solution is also passable at best, after a lot of fiddling and some software level hacks. (See my post about 4g dongles on these units for example)
On the Intel side, there are new airmont based HU (sc9853i) with dsp and native 4G sim card support.
These are pretty good and are quoted to be 30% faster than their px6 counterparts.
In my opinion the biggest issue with these is not the lack of community support but how they fit in cars. Basically where the tablet attaches to the headunit is just a push tab that's not adjustable. Comparing to the px6 counterparts which are usually rotatable or at least adjustable up and down

Also worth noting in the px6 world is the new Tesla style headunits. They're a little more expensive but 12.9 inches and seem to have excellent community support with a dedicated, active Facebook page. They seem to still have the PX6 issues with 4G internet though their WiFi antenna doesn't suffer from the same Bluetooth interference that the other units get.

For my money, the perfect headunit that I'm holding out for is 12.9 inches with rotatable mount like the Tesla units but using airmont hardware with the native 4G support.
Of course, all of the above is my opinion only gained through my own personal experience with each of these units. Its entirely possible that someone else's experience my contradict mine. Also, the market is vast and I think I did a good job combing it but it's very possible that I missed some other type of headunit. If so I'd love to know so I can see if it fits my needs.

I was looking for Tesla style HU but I think it won't fit in my car and it's quite expensive.
What i'm looking for now it's the dasaita MAX6, which seems to be the best product. I see a lot of other product which correspond for me but i'm quite sceptic about the quality of these and dasaita seems to be a better choice.

Bought a PX4, not happy. Looking for a replacement.

Recently I bought a PX4 to replace my PX5 radio in my car, a Fiat Punto Evo. The PX5 did work as it should, but I was looking for something new and fresh. Since the PX4 is based on newer technology, and Android 11, I thought this was a step forward. This is an Isudar unit by the way.
However. I noticed the headunit isn't that great. I usually use 2-3 apps (Spotify, Google Maps/Waze and Flitsmeister, a navigational tool for speedtraps and so on) and the radio doesn't perform well when I have these apps opened. Google Maps crashes a lot of times, Flitsmeister freezes and when I want to go back to the homescreen, the screen flickers a few times back and forth. Also, it does reboot all of a sudden.
There is not a possibility to flash or update it since there is zero to little knowledge of the PX4. I'm thinking of the following options:
- Buy a PX6 board and swap it in
- Buy a PX6 headunit
- Maybe there is an alternative
What is a reliable brand in this sector? I see a lot of brands but I don't see the difference...

There is no px4 and you don't say if it really is an MTCD type because you haven't posted enough information such as MCU type.
Brands mean little to nothing as the all sell from various factories and are no real "brands" for these Chinese units, only factories.
You want a 7862UIS FYT (4gb+) unit such as what mekede / navifly sell (type 116) These are much less buggy than mtcd type units and you don't need hacky modded firmware to make them work.

Just for clarity, there is no PX4. The unit linked clearly lists PX6.
I no longer recommend the MTCx platform.

Well, actually the details list two options, a PX4 one and a PX6...
But @marchnz is correct in both accounts
1) PX4 is something this guys invented, and is not widely used/accepted (yet). Regarding the CPU they are using, seems to be a slightly improvement/update to the PX5... but very slight improvement (newer tech, more speed per CPU, but less CPUs overall)
2) Even if you go to PX6, those CPUs are old compared to 7862UIS... so buying today a PX6 would be a bad investment. If you really want to reuse the unit and only invest on a CPU board, the only option will be to wait for those manufacturers to adopt the latest chip RK3588 (which has a version RK3588S that looks a lot like a car-oriented chip, even with a CAN bus interface). Of course, you might wait for months and there is no assurance that your MTC-H mainboard will be compatible with it.
By the way, PX5 and PX30 were real Rockchip car-oriented official products. I have never seen any Rockchip original document referring to RK3399 as PX6. I only see this nomenclature on the Android-Auto chinese sites. So, don't kill us if in a few weeks every chinese vendor starts to call RK3566 as PX4

So, if not reusing the MCU is not a problem for you...what about looking for a 7862UIS with a screen that has the same physical size as your current unit?
All the plastic fascias/stereo-fronts are made (most probably) by the same factory, and then distributed to different radio-manufacturers. Its a very low margin manufacturing business that only works if you do runs with thousands of units produced... is not a business large enough to have multiple providers. So, most probably you will be able to take the fascia of your PX4 and adapt it to any unit (MTC or FYT) as far as the screens are the same size

Head Unit Recommendation

Hey there!
I'm new to the Topic of Android Head Units, and currently looking to get one for my Kia Ceed SW from 2007 which doesn't even have Bluetooth right now, so i'm looking for some help here. My Budget is around 200-350€ max. and i'd like to get something which would work with my steering wheel buttons. I thought about getting a 7" Unit because i'm not sure if 10" would fit. Shipping from germany would be a + for me, so i don't have to wait long.
I thought about getting an RX6 so i could use the Hal9k stuff, because it looks nice, and i like switching firmwares from time to time. But at the moment everythings still completely open. Every opinion would be greatly apreciated.

Do consider a uis7862 FYT (e.g. as sold by navifly/mekede, not endorsing either) they are miles better than the MTCD based units while cheaper than even the most overpriced Dasaita MTCD. A bonus is they sound significantly better too.
You won't regret it, it's the software and the hardware improvements that make a huge difference.

Hey there! Okay, sounds good. But where would i get a unit like that? I think all the ones from Amazon are MTCx ones.
Edit: I did some googleing and the ones from www.joyingauto.eu are not really declared which board it is. Or am i doing something wrong?

Best and latest Doing HU for a 2019 Subaru WRX STI base w/o navigation. I've seen different options and also different prices. Before I pull the trigger on the unit I would like to make sure I am getting the correct unit for my car, the latest unit, with the largest screen, and the most powerful/ fastest unit available as of today.
The main feature I am looking for is wireless Apple CarPlay, and to retain factory functionality of steering controls and stock unit.

Idoing is a made up brand name and seller of various Chinese factory head units.
Is it an FYT based unit being considered, as you've posted in the FYT forum.
Be sure to get details from sellers with screenshots of the unit - this way you can find out what it is you are considering, check the info here and then ensure the unit is what the seller said it would be.
Narrow it down after reading the forums.
