Hi I've unlocked the bootloader, what's the next step to root & flash twrp?
Hey there, what rom are you hoping to run? I'm on the D6603 and there hasn't been a new twrp for over a year (muppets release).
I'm running Lineage 18.1-20211230 rom & recovery for about an hour now.
Magisk would not install via flash for me, despite claiming success.
Digging around the issues threads I found the 'canary' or debug file works fine.

Not sure what you mean by this. Posting a quick answer. I'll edit it with more:
Magisk can be downloaded from; https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk
It is the ONLY place you should get it from!
Edit:
If you were hoping for a one-to-one, I'd rather type it out, just in case anyone else should come looking.
To be honest, you haven't provided enough information about your phone model or your desired goals for me to give you a straightforward answer.
I have experience with the D6603 only. I've been using lineage for about a year with different recoveries and, in my opinion, for the path of least resistance you should probably use a recovery and rom from the same project. (When I had twrp as recovery, OTA updates would fail, but not say so. It was only when commenting on a reddit thread, I thought I'd add my version number and discovered I'd gone months on the same rom. Manually flashing the latest rom broke stuff in all sorts of ways. So...)
Probably best to treat it as a rolling release and stay up to date or else lock-in to one you're happy with.
If using lineage, check update news first, if 'planned for next release' includes rollback of features just added - probably skip that update.
Gaining root was the last step for me. I have no experience of rooting SONY rom.
(My desired goal was to cut out google and play store).
Rooting was just;
1) Download Magisk
2) Rename .apk to .zip (DO NOT zip IT UP)
3) adb sideload, ignore checksum failure and choose install anyway.
The recent Magisk update has made it easier though. I was able to patch the boot file from within the app, so you possibly don't need to sideload anymore.
Right, that's a wall already. If you need more please include details such as;
Phone model :Sony Z3 Plus D6653 (2nd edit - oops just saw this)

Tbh I haven't noticed any RAM optimization at all, i flashed the update today still nothing . I guess I should wait maybe its an AI thing... Thinking of rooting too, some Magisk modules are very important for me tbh but the bootloader data wiping is so annoying

Of course you can.
-Download Full OTA and install it via Updater (Local Upgrade). Don't reboot.
-if you have TWRP go to Magisk Manager, download and flash TWRP A/B Retention Script. Don't reboot.

I couldn't wait and tried via Oxygen updater for the first time. I installed from it along with magisk zip and it took me to twrp installation and reboot automatically and then I came to a blank area where I only see power off, reboot etc option upon pushing power button and that time I realized that I did something wrong. I then uninstalled magisk from twrp and then it reboot normally. I need to learn a/b process because before this I normally do it via twrp and overwrite stuff. Oneplus system is new for me but thank you all.

Well now I'm confused! Does going from 6 to 7 count as a first time install or an update?
That's a new installation, be sure to backup all the stuff you need!!
Has someone already tested if android auto/miracast works?
I'll answer my own questions:
- Miracast/WiDi works
- Android Auto does not (the notification asking to connect appears, after confirming: nothing happens)
- SafetyNet does not pass (Magisk says basic integrity + cts profile failed)
- GPay does not work as a result
Other than that, the battery drain seems to be similar to MIUI 12.
I'll keep my eye on this, but with only 1/4 of the things I need daily working, I'll go back to MIUI for now...
I think GPay etc can be sorted quite easily - go to the Telegram group there's a guide there. They may also help with Android Car.
I don't think that will help, all guides for fixing safetyNet work under the assumption basicIntegrity is true - it's false for me.
7.5 clean flashed now, looking good.
Spoke too soon, Safetynet fails on ctsprofile.

Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) is an open-source software custom recovery image for Android-based devices. It provides a touchscreen-enabled interface that allows users to install third-party firmware and back up the current system, functions often unsupported by stock recovery images. It is, therefore, often installed when rooting Android devices, although it isn't dependent on a device being rooted to be installed.
Compatible with Lineage Modded 18.1 only!
Instructions
1. Download TWRP image
2. fastboot boot twrp-3.5.2_11.0-2-nio.img
3. Enter Passcode if you have to decrypt /sdcard
4. adb push twrp-3.5.2_11.0-2-nio.img /sdcard
5. Click Backup -> Only Select Boot and Swipe to Backup
6. Go back to Main Menu, -> Advanced -> Install Recovery Ramdisk
7. Find and Select twrp-3.5.2_11.0-2-nio.img -> Swipe to Install
8. Done! If any issues, restore the backup made before.

Is recovery somehow tied to the ROM? I thought recovery can be anything regardless of what the ROM is, as long as bootloader is unlocked.
Tried while stock rom was installed. Its fine when booted from fastboot. But if installed, touchscreen doesn't work.
Will try on lineage modded and see.
Edit: it works with a mouse. So touchscreen doesn't work, yet to try on lineage modded.
can't start adb sideload mode .
failed reason unkown.
lsusb shows no device presented while enter the sideload mode.
i flashed it directly, like this:
Code:
fastboot flash boot twrp-3.5.2_11.0-2-nio.img
is this ok ?
Hello,
What's going on with TWRP? twrp-3.5.2_11.0-3-nio.img just flashes and won't work and twrp-3.5.2_11.0-2-nio.img isn't booting on my G100 any ideas?
Thanks
Hello,
Finally was able to get this installed on my Moto G100 but it's essentially useless. I can't access the internal flash on the unit from Windows in MTP mode after formatting flash to wipe so I can install lineageOS and Gapps. Essentially have to get LOSrecovery installed and then do sideload because I can't do what I need to with this. The newer version just flashes the screen. Are we going to get one that actually works?
Thanks!

Yes I have a beta version that has that functionaility working already, just working on slot switching bugs.
Hello,
Awesome!!!! Cannot wait to give it a go. You're doing great work and I hope to use this along with LineageOS and have this as my new phone to use!! WOOOHOO!
Thanks and sorry if I came across as rude!
Additionally I can't sideload gapps as it says there isn't enough room... uhg these two slot phones essentially suck a lot... the DooGee S95 Pro I have is so much simpler!
ETA? Oh yea sorry don't ask for ETAs ever!
Oh I just hope it's soon so I can start using the phone. Do you need some bug spray?
Anyhow I'll use whatever version you have A/B switching aside because you can switch from A to B easily with fastboot, while you work out the last bugs.
Thanks and appreciate your work.
And then I ask for an update!
Any updates or development of this?
funciona para moto g 100?
Hi
After finally unlocking the bootloader, installed TWRP 3.6.0 and rotted with Magisk v23.0. Lets find a custom ROM that suits this phone - WRONG!
I have tried many types of ROM and so far it ends in soft brick. Need advise if you have any. My aim is to install a basic custom ROM , install pico or nano GAPP, and only install like 4 apps on it. phone, sms, navigation, music player etc.
I have tried the following ROM:
Phhusson-treble AOSP andriod version 9, 11 & 12.
GSI arm64 ab ROM
a so call stock ROM
I also tried installing the vendor.img as described here
I would like to use LineageOS but there doesn't seem to be one for this phone
I am now resorting to installing the stock firmware to make the phone work again, instruction here
If anyone has sucessfully rooted this phone using a basic ROM and GAPP please share how you did it and where your download was.
Why did phhuson fail ? That's the basic gsi, every other gsi are build on top of that. If that doesn't work, nothing will.

I install - system-arm64 –ab
I did some research that the Doogee n20 is a arm64 and a+b .... Unless I got the wrong information.
I suspect there maybe some stock firmware files that needs to be installed as well to make it work properly.
A post said it needs vendor.img, I might try sourcing another copy.
Follow up - I got it un-bricked with the stock firmware (android 9) (link in my original post) .... Back to square one .

Hey man, did you get it fixed?
Actually this device is A-only, but you should use Gsis A/B.
Most Phh based Gsi works almost perfectly for me.
You can try this:
- Download and install Twrp 3.6.1 here
- Download LineageOS 18.1 (lir) here Choose "arm64 bvZ" version
- Download stock rom here or Y9Plus variant here
- Extract the Gsi, and the vendor image from the stock rom
- I restarted in Twrp, go to wipe and select system, data, cache...
- Go install and flash the Gsi as system image, and vendor as vendor image
-reboot

Hi all. I noticed that there isn't official Lineage OS support for our Pixel 6a, so I decided to build it until then (if it happens). Since it appears to be working correctly, I wanted to share it with anyone else who has an interest. I'm not changing anything about it (other than making the updater allow unofficial updates) and building straight from the Lineage OS sources. I'll attempt to build it roughly 1x per month, usually around the middle to allow for most security updates to take effect. I daily drive the ROM, so I'll try to only post updates as long as basic functionality is working.
Latest ROM and Recovery:
ROM
Recovery
(Don't worry about the page saying Pixel 6. It wouldn't let me select 6a as an option)
Optional Latest Bootloader and Radio:
Bootloader
Radio
(Update with the fastboot flash bootloader / fastboot flash radio command respectively)
Old Releases:
Old
Optional Google Apps:
MindTheGapps
(Use Lineage 20 (Android 13) MindTheGapps link -> MindTheGapps-13.0.0-arm64-20XXXXXX_XXXXXX.zip)
Follow the "official" directions in order to flash the ROM and recovery files:
https://lineage.youd.dev/340458/41/devices/bluejay/install
OTA Support:
I modified the built in updater to support updates from my unofficial source for all flashed builds. I added an option under preferences to go back to the official source in the event that official builds are started. Just go to Settings -> System -> Updater to check. I plan on uploading to OneDrive and Dropbox for these updates (bandwidth might be temporarily limited). You can always manually flash without it from a PC.

I'm just supporting the 6a/bluejay since that's what I have. If there were a lot of requests, I could attempt it, but I would have no way to test it (and the updater wouldn't be able to use the unofficial sources since I have limited space/bandwidth to share the updates from Dropbox/OneDrive).

I don't think face unlock is supported on any of the 6 series and I've seen no reference in the Lineage OS source/ROM.
Just picked up a 6a, but I'm going to run it stock for a bit just to see what that's like (I don't think I've run stock Android for at least a decade). Can confirm, the stock ROM does not have face unlock. It does have "Screen Attention" which is supposed to delay locking the screen if you're looking at it.
Looking forward to trying out your work Cal
Nice work. Thanks a bunch ..
Bruh, i accidentally flashed the android TV gapps package
New ROM update is available. You can either download it manually or use the built in updater if coming from the earlier version. You might want to update your bootloader/radio as well (optional and links are on the original post). The bootloader/radio img files are extracted from the latest official Google updates.

No I only ever really waited for about 2 minutes, I know that is super impatient lol.
I am going to try it again today and let it run during my lunch. Is there a specific order in which I should sideload and update the boot/radio?

I updated my radio and bootloader first, but doing so is optional. I don't know how much it actually affects.
Looks like the official builds are coming out now:
LineageOS Downloads
download.lineageos.org

I just saw the XDA article as well. Thanks for the update. I tried downloading the official through the updater but got a verification failed message. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the updater or actual official .zip.
If anyone manually downloads the official update, can you let me know if it works? I had an issue happen once before with my older OnePlus 8 Pro phone to where there was a problem with the first official download. I'm a little hesitant.
I just verified the official ROM. I was able to flash it right over the existing unofficial ROM without any trouble. Just follow the same instructions as for the unofficial:
1) Boot to recovery
2) Flash official ROM .zip
(optional)
3) Reboot to recovery again
4) Flash Google apps
5) Flash Magisk
6) Reboot system
I noticed there were some odd warnings when flashing the Google apps/Magisk (other than signature verification). Google apps seemed to error out at first (never seen that before) but I just flashed it again immediately and it finished.
Thanks to all for their support and the official Lineage OS team.
