Hi all. I noticed that there isn't official Lineage OS support for our Pixel 6a, so I decided to build it until then (if it happens). Since it appears to be working correctly, I wanted to share it with anyone else who has an interest. I'm not changing anything about it (other than making the updater allow unofficial updates) and building straight from the Lineage OS sources. I'll attempt to build it roughly 1x per month, usually around the middle to allow for most security updates to take effect. I daily drive the ROM, so I'll try to only post updates as long as basic functionality is working.
Latest ROM and Recovery:
ROM
Recovery
(Don't worry about the page saying Pixel 6. It wouldn't let me select 6a as an option)
Optional Latest Bootloader and Radio:
Bootloader
Radio
(Update with the fastboot flash bootloader / fastboot flash radio command respectively)
Old Releases:
Old
Optional Google Apps:
MindTheGapps
(Use Lineage 20 (Android 13) MindTheGapps link -> MindTheGapps-13.0.0-arm64-20XXXXXX_XXXXXX.zip)
Follow the "official" directions in order to flash the ROM and recovery files:
https://lineage.youd.dev/340458/41/devices/bluejay/install
OTA Support:
I modified the built in updater to support updates from my unofficial source for all flashed builds. I added an option under preferences to go back to the official source in the event that official builds are started. Just go to Settings -> System -> Updater to check. I plan on uploading to OneDrive and Dropbox for these updates (bandwidth might be temporarily limited). You can always manually flash without it from a PC.

Great, thank you for your work. I'm downloading it right now. Out of my curiosity, will there be a build for raviole in the future as well?

Thx!

I'm just supporting the 6a/bluejay since that's what I have. If there were a lot of requests, I could attempt it, but I would have no way to test it (and the updater wouldn't be able to use the unofficial sources since I have limited space/bandwidth to share the updates from Dropbox/OneDrive).

I don't think face unlock is supported on any of the 6 series and I've seen no reference in the Lineage OS source/ROM.

Just picked up a 6a, but I'm going to run it stock for a bit just to see what that's like (I don't think I've run stock Android for at least a decade). Can confirm, the stock ROM does not have face unlock. It does have "Screen Attention" which is supposed to delay locking the screen if you're looking at it.
Looking forward to trying out your work Cal

Nice work. Thanks a bunch ..

Bruh, i accidentally flashed the android TV gapps package

New ROM update is available. You can either download it manually or use the built in updater if coming from the earlier version. You might want to update your bootloader/radio as well (optional and links are on the original post). The bootloader/radio img files are extracted from the latest official Google updates.

Mine always gets stuck on a random percentage when sideloading. I factory reset each time and have tried with and without radio/boot updates.

Is it anywhere around 47%? It does appear to freeze for a bit but it's still loading. Did you wait a pretty long time and let it just keep going?

No I only ever really waited for about 2 minutes, I know that is super impatient lol.
I am going to try it again today and let it run during my lunch. Is there a specific order in which I should sideload and update the boot/radio?

I updated my radio and bootloader first, but doing so is optional. I don't know how much it actually affects.

Looks like the official builds are coming out now:

I just saw the XDA article as well. Thanks for the update. I tried downloading the official through the updater but got a verification failed message. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the updater or actual official .zip.
If anyone manually downloads the official update, can you let me know if it works? I had an issue happen once before with my older OnePlus 8 Pro phone to where there was a problem with the first official download. I'm a little hesitant.

I just verified the official ROM. I was able to flash it right over the existing unofficial ROM without any trouble. Just follow the same instructions as for the unofficial:
1) Boot to recovery
2) Flash official ROM .zip
(optional)
3) Reboot to recovery again
4) Flash Google apps
5) Flash Magisk
6) Reboot system
I noticed there were some odd warnings when flashing the Google apps/Magisk (other than signature verification). Google apps seemed to error out at first (never seen that before) but I just flashed it again immediately and it finished.
Thanks to all for their support and the official Lineage OS team.

good job
A couple of things. ROM won't boot unless you wipe data. The clock isn't centered when center is chosen. Choosing "Advanced Restart" changes nothing on my phone.
Have it up and running and rooted. So far no problems whatsoever. Great job.
Edit: after rooting advanced start is working. Not sure if that had anything to do with it but before that I had to use volume keys to get into bootloader.
Eagerly excited to give this a shot. Been wanting a reason to switch things up on my phone, and this sure is one. Will report back once I flash.
EDIT: Flashed on T-Mobile OP8 once converted to global. I attempted to flash from T-Mobile official, but this bombed out and caused it to boot into crashdump. So far, everything is nearly flawless. I will say that display calibration profiles isn't working, but that is pretty minor. Using the standard color correction works fine. I am going to run it through its paces for the rest of the night and tomorrow. If things go well, looks like this will be daily driver material.
Verizon Op8 unlocked. On A10 as I'm waiting to get updated modem from Verizon. I only have build on one slot _a, not both as msm tool has latest ota from Verizon loaded. Is being on A11 base or having oos on both slots a pre-requisite? Please and thank you beforehand.

Might want to read the installer script, your missing a credit
I flashed and it seems pretty good. Some issues to note are, when connected, there's no sound with bluetooth devices, sometimes during heavy use the screen will become unresponsive, and when the pop up comes in apps to use the fingerprint scanner, it shows 2 different overlays. I was unable to get logs and I flashed back to stock, but hopefully this helps

I also came back to post the bluetooth audio bug. Can also confirm that it happens with wired headsets as well, either using the adapter or using USB-C headphones.
I also have no bluetooth audio and display calibration profiles not working.
Wohooo finally!!
Guys help me. I flashed the rom so far so good but there's no fod icon change etc on the crdroid settings menu I went on lock screen options and there's only fod vibration verification but no fod icon change does anybody else have this? Can anyone help me with this one?
Just curious if any headway was made on the Bluetooth audio bug. If logs are needed, let me know and I can capture them.

Yeah, that's pretty much a deal-breaker. Looking at this guy's account it seems he's got a few irons in the fire when it comes to crDroid. Given this thread has like five posters seems not much interest from OP8 users. I'd guess that would leave us sucking hind tit. And it's hard to find fault. I'm sure this is really time consuming work and people have lives.
a new build is up, please don't use the internal installer but download it from our website and follow the install script
thanks everyone for the feedback, it's appreciated
Updated. Fixed the bluethooth issue. Haven't checked the other stuff yet.
A question. Updating as you do breaks root. Could a person extract the boot.img from your package, patch it with magisk, rename it boot.img, put it into the installer package, then update and retain root? Or would this cause the update process to fail?

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. LineageOS does still include various proprietary hardware-specific code.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.
Informations :
This ROM uses source built kernel, kernel modules, boot kernel modules (vendor_boot) and vendor image.
This ROM bundles the latest firmware so you don't have to worry about updating firmware.
To use the eSIM you need to install GApps
Instructions :
Follow https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/redfin/install for how to install
Follow https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/redfin/upgrade for how to upgrade from LineageOS 18
Downloads :
Official builds
Optional GApps: MindTheGapps
Reporting Bugs
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/* (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved.

Great work @aleasto!
Can't wait to try this Rom, I was waiting for it.
Just a quick question: maybe I'm just a noob, but how can I install the zip without a dedicated recovery? I mean, I'm stuck at point 4 in your instructions.
Thanks a lot!

You can't.
Where exactly are you stuck? To reboot into recovery simply select "Recovery Mode" from the bootloader screen.
The previous steps installed Lineage Recovery.

I decided that given the issues with flashing system addons, until a solution is found by our team i'll also be sharing builds with minimal gapps included. You can already find one in the drive folder.
ROM booted with me and magisk gapps working fine.
now everything is fine, everything you need is in the firmware, many thanks to the author for the work
Hey everyone, I wanna give an update on my experience with this Rom!
First of all: great job @aleasto!
This Lineage is definitely smoother than stock rom. Seriously, my Pixel 5 feels like a true flagship now, finally the 765 is working like a charm.
_
Now, some little features I do really enjoy:
- percentage only in the status bar (no battery icon needed)
- you can hide the navigation bar (the one at the bottom of the screen) but use the phone as if it was visible
- FINALLY no google assistant swipe-up from the bottom of the screen!
There are also some little bugs, nothing serious:
- with google camera, changing from portrait mode to standard mode (and viceversa) usually slows down a little bit. Maybe it's just my gcam version.
- vocal messages: recording vocal audio messages often does not work. The recording is muted, I haven't figure out how am I able to fix it, but sometimes I am able to do it.
_
A quick guide on how to install this ROM (for lineage os newbies like me):
Unlock the bootloader (here you can read how)
Download all the files from the first post and put them in the "platform tools" folder
Put the Pixel 5 in fastboot mode and connect it to the computer
Open a prompt window in the platform tools folder
Digit these commands:
- fastboot flash boot boot.img
- fastboot flash vendor_boot vendor_boot.img
- fastboot flash dtbo dtbo.img
Now you have to reboot into the recovery from the fastboot menu, just use the volume buttons to search the recovery option and select it with the power button.
You will enter the Lineage Recovery, then select "apply update" -> "apply from ADB"
Go back to your cmd window on your computer and write:
"ADB sideload xxxxxxxxx.zip" where the "x part" is the name of the ROM zip file (remember to put .zip at the end of the command)
Just wait until the end of the installation (around 5-8 minutes) and then reboot the phone from Lineage OS recovery.
Enjoy!
Personally I wasn't able to install magisk correctly, if anyone got it working just let me know!
Again, thanks Ale for the awesome rom, can't wait to see it becoming official!
Percent only

there was a problem with the microphone, they didn't hear me, but earlier on the proton firmware it was like that too, the solution: to flash another core. Here I also decided to replace the kernel

That's a pity. I came from Galaxy S8 to Pixel 5 because I LineageOS on S8 had the same problem and I felt that switching to Pixel 5 I would be less likely to encounter problems with basic phone functions. The progress so far is incredible at such an early stage so hopefully this microphone issue can be ironed out eventually.

@Tio_Burla keep up the good work. Appreciate your efforts.
Can I ask which version of Gcam works stably on this ROM?
Thank you for v8.4.
I was upgraded from v7.15 to apply recent security patch and it works fine.
I'm a little confused because its look and feel is different from V7.15.
I can't set vibration strength because zenparts is not supplied.

When I want to use my smartphone today, it was boot looping.
(1) So, first, I tried flashing Nikgapps again without wipe, but it couldn't get out of the boot loop.
(2) Next, I tried flashing both crDroid and Nikgapps without wipe, but it couldn't get out of the boot loop.
(3) Finally, I wiped all the memories and re-burned crDroid v8.4 and Nikgapps.
I don't know why my phone rebooted automatically. I was using no troubles v8.4 for about half an month.

Hi, Gabriel "TioBurla".
Downloaded and flashed files as per OP, succeeded.
Then, saw an update available on the Settings, stated that the release was newer than this one (April 15).
Right after installing the April 17 release, the device bootloop to the TWRP Custom Recovery.
Tried both, systematically updating and clean flashing, both were ended up in the same way.
Reverted to the April 15 release, and every thing was just find, except of course, the notification on the splash screen after booting, said "There is an internal problem with your device,...".
Look forward to see the upcoming updates.
Thanks.
Note:
Combining this ROM with Riru LSposed Framework plus working ViPER4Android + Dolby Plus, was just beyond expectations!
Last night I install this ROM, after first boot I flash magisk on orage fox recovery after that I rebooted into system I notice that the ROM after installing greenify and I'll open the app into greenfy setting the ROM get stock and not functioning after a second it goes reboot! 3× to attemp the greenify setting endid with reboot, I hope next update you can fix it, by the way thanks to all developers for making this amazing ROM.
@Tio_Burla Any chance of the new build of crdroid 8.8?

Hey thanks for sharing. Xda isn't what it once was, but it's still nice to see roms and kernels for bluejay popping up here.
Hello everyone! Updating the build again tonight. This build will address the adaptive connectivity FC when making calls on some carriers and fixes monet. I have also started compiling user builds. I would suggest a clean flash in any situation. Thank you.
Is this ROM ready to be used on a daily? Any major bugs/issues?

is it enough to open bootloader or I need to open critical botloader?
and do I need to flash vendor or vbmeta?

Instructions are right n the OP....
Flashing Instructions:
Reboot into bootloader mode
fastboot -w update rom.zip (this command will completely wipe your device)
This build includes gapps
And yes, you need an unlocked bootloader to use fastboot

I am using as my DD. There are a couple issues that have been reported so far but I am not able to reproduce.
* Some users experiencing front facing camera issues (no log provided yet)
* VoLTE reported not working on TELUS (no log yet)
* Wallpaper and Monet issues have been fixed in latest build
* If you are having issues with adaptive connectivity force closing when making calls, disable it in network settings

I wrote my question after training the instructions in the first post and failed.
So do I need to open only bootloader or critical bootloader?

Just the bootloader.
fastboot flashing unlock
My guess though is if you have a flashing error it's related to having an old version of adb/fastboot. You need like v32 at least on these devices.
Google apps are there but will not let me sign in
Here's my log
Happy to see crdroid for the 6A, but why to include gapps ?

I recall I had the same issue with volte not working on Telus (using p6p). I had to flash a magisk module to resolve that. I can try and see if I saved it, if someone needs it. (I'm no longer using Telus though)

Clean install the latest version of the ROM that includes gapps. I updated the build last night
I know the only way to find out the actual answer to my question is to try it myself, but here goes anyway:
I have not had any issues with my 6a while on A12. After upgrading to A13, and a few weeks passing by, I've been noticing connectivity issues. Random apps randomly telling me that I have no internet connection, mainly. Can this be a hardware issue? (Since it wasn't present when I started using the phone, I wouldn't think so?)
Would flashing this ROM possibly fix that issue? Or would I only need to do a factory reset, maybe flash a custom kernel?

Thanks for the reply. I got it working after I reflashed it. Both times were clean installs tho. It was most likely a module for magisk that was causing it because both Facebook and messenger messed up on the second install. They acted exactly like Google play services did from the first install.

What is RisingOS?
RisingOS is an Open Source Aftermarket Android Operating System that aims to deliver unique and refreshing android experience.

Screenshots Taken from their GitHub, not of my screen (I personally have yet to flash it!)
What's working?
You tell the rest of us!
Build Variations
This is a Google Apps Build
Installation Notes : FASTBOOT 1 step method, only !!
ROM ZIP should be able to be flashed over any ROM, via the following fastboot method.
However, I *THINK* the last official ROM from google that should of been flashed to the device, is the latest Android 13 firmware.
1. Download the ZIP / ROM & check the MD5
2. reboot into bootloader ( power off device and hold volume down + power, must have unlocked bootloader ) to get into fastboot mode. NOT fastbootD
3. Flash the ROM with the following command ( May remove -w flag to save user data , IF you are updating a previous installation)
risingOS-v1.1-Babylon-202306171229-sunfish-UNOFFICIAL-DiamondJohn-FASTBOOT.zip
NB: to rollback to previous version: fastboot update risingOS-v1.1-Babylon-202306021421-sunfish-CORE-COMMUNITY-updateimages.zip
4. Start First Boot. Maybe give it6 a minute oir three to "settle".

I would not. Its destined to fail.
BUT, you can try, and if it doesn't do so well, restart and flash again with the wipe.
Heads up. I have a "first draft" crDroid build....

DOH! I rebuilt it and flashed it. It booted, with all the goodies, EXCEPT its a de-googled version of crDroid! anyone interested in this build?
I searched while out, and there is magisk module to install google services & apps.
Since crDRoid is in holding, I installed this ROM on my spare phone. I got frustrated that the QS Header image was by a number. Attached is a zip with the images showing their numbers.

CrDroid is fantastic. I have it on a Mi 9se and is by far the best custom rom i've ever used (on any phone)

Which ROM is a matter of preference, and also now your trust in my ability to get it running. I have a de-googled version on offer, and no-one took me up on it.
I did a search today, and I actually found an OFFICIAL crDroid that also didnt have google (ie what no-one wants). The official builder would have inside knowledge and access to crDroid devs. So its not going to be simple, and their docs for building aren't as good as others.
However, I would be running crDroid, if/when I have a choice. I am running A11 so A13 is overdue.
OT
ummmm... finished a new crDroid build a few minutes ago, and its just now downloading all updated apps from the Playstore! ie IT NOW HAS GOOGLE SERVICES! I was typing in my last response AS it was booting.
I'll start a new thread maybe tomorrow. Right now, I've got a new ROM to play with...

And after using it, I changed the title of this thread.
Dont get me wrong, this ROM is still good. Its a personal preference.
Hello, thank you and teams for big efforts.
Does this ROM file have persist.img in it? Because i need this in order to fix my Pixel 4a, resulted "No valid slot to boot." after i removed persist.img.
For your support, thanks.

Sorry, I dont understand what you are talking about. Dont know all the partitions offhand.
However, what I have created / provided is a FASTBOOT flash image, which has most if not all partitions in it. However, when I open the zip, I dont see anything named "persist". Have you tried flashing stock top maybe bring it back to life? I dont see anything named "persist" in stock either.
@GreatUserName I just had a look, and inside a zip inside the stock firmware lies a fastboot image like I provide, and it too has no partition named persist. But it also has the bootloader and radio
can somebody give me a copy of the app APK for ExactCalculator?
And what is the name of the default music player?
Try to flash the rom with ADB, but still impossible to install... ADB failed partition not found...
