They all act differently with different usage and different kernels installed. The only real way is to try them yourself, besides that's half the fun.
I just upgraded to Android 11 and the battery life is definitely worse than Android 11 with OOS nd stock kernel. Like @hammered58 said, you'll get the difference by using a different kernel.
Other apps like UniversalGMSDoze (Magisk) or Greenify are not updated for Android 11 yet as far as I know. Android 11 seems to have changed a lot in the battery department.

So I recently found out that franco kernel is no longer compatible with cyanogenmod 11. I would like to know which is more battery efficient. Having franco kernel with stock rom or cyanogenmod with the kernel that is shipped with it? Does anyone have experience in this?
battery is all about how you personally use your device, how you set it up, what apps you use, and mostly the quality of your phone/data signal. using either cm kernel or franco kernel can give you great battery life or terrible battery life. any kernel will give you great battery life or terrible battery life.

Both are good and have their (dis)advantages. No one can tell you whats best cause different users have different preferences and needs. Best is to try them out yourself and see what you like best.
I am aware of that. I admit that I am quite the power user which mostly results in a pretty bad battery life. I just wanted to know which option has the better potential with the same amount of usage. I guess I'll experiment with it myself then

im one of the heaviest users you will meet, yet i still see a minimum of 5h+ screen on time every day. set up your device right, and if you have a great signal you will have very hood battery life no matter what you use.
Combine rooted stock, Franco kernel and the Xposed framework plus it's various modules and you will get most of the Custom ROM features along with better battery life and stability. I'm very pleased with that combo.

I'm on liquid remix. Tried greenify, titanium freezing and couple of things but nothing seems to work. Battery drains with 5hour sot and around 10 hour standby. It's the same case with other couple of custom roms. Kindly help me I'm what's best rom and Kernel for battery. I want only battery on priority
I'm in stock, rooted. Franco kernel, battery mode. Dark theme everything on substratum and get around 7/8hs SOT.

Idle time?
Tried alot. For battery is say OOS.
I constantly get 7 to 9 hours screen on with my usage over 36 hours to 48 hours in-between charge.
I use this debloat script: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...l-tomatot-debloater-basic-script-to-t3869427/
And I'm testing this kernel atm. Happy with it.

I think I used all kernels on XDA and tested them for around 7 days, all are good I have to say. About same performance and battery. Features are user dependent so look for the one that you feel like will fit your needs.
Stock OOS is the best for battery performance. I think the only one that got close to rivaling it is treskmod. I could be wrong on the treskmod part but OOS for sure is the best for battery.
Kernel is largely preference. All kernels here I tested were amazing. Focusing purely on battery I would say Bluspark, Smurf(battery profile), and Render are the best. Franco is also there too but I haven't seen him update his kernel in a while now and there's a vocal few reporting camera issues with his kernel.

A noob question. How to choose Kernel profile. Because i know only flashing Kernel though twrp
In my opinion the best kernel is smurfkernel, great performance and battery life 8h SOT.

Check the OP of Smurf it explains it. Easiest way would be the spectrum app.
OOS with RenderZenith for me
OOS with Elemental kernel at around 6hours of SOT with around 36 hours without charge.
Although I think the Rom is more important for the good battery life.

WiFi issue is with custom roms, for OOS it's fine.
Hi everyone,
End of the story.
If you want very good battery life. Stay on stock. I'm very happy to share my battery screenshot.
No custom ROM no custom kernel giving better battery than stock oos. I tried even so called better battery friendly kernels and omni ROM (omni has been said better battery ROM than stock).

Majority of the thread said stock OOS. But I guess some like to see for themselves.
I have the same setup as you plus xXx. Getting great battery life not to mention the performance of it. Probably going to replace EX for daily driver duty. Burned through 50% of the battery with 4 hours SoT so far. Think I've found my winner; not going to switch to anything else anymore.
Hello all !
I would like to know opinions on different rom. For the moment, I have only tested the Pixel Experience but quickly abandoned it because it was impossible to change the definition, only 1440p ...
I really liked the Paranoid Quartz on my old Mi9T, is it still so good?
I'm mainly looking for something stable, not necessarily thousands of options, just stable, fast and allowing to go to 1080p (and good APN)
Thanks for the answers !
I have been using custom ROMs for 10 years on all kinds of Android phones. This is my first OnePlus (7Pro). The oxygen OS is the first stock ROM I have not customized. For me it works perfectly, and it offers the flexibility that I've only found in custom ROMs, so I have no need or desire to customize. If I may ask, why do you feel it is better to customize? No judgement here, just curious.
Same here, never replaced the stock ROM ever since the OnePlus One. They're doing a great job. Always flashed a custom ROM with any other manufacturer.
Stay stock and enjoy the awesome battery life. If you want to change it up a bit, install the RICE tweaks Rom, xxx NoLimits, and a custom kernel like Smurf.

Awesome battery life ? I've only 6h max sot with 1080p90hz, it's not awesome it's just average. I just have flash Elemental X kernel
I like OOS but i prefer Pixel Experience look, like Settings menu, Gapps...Can switch quickly between light and dark mode, true AOD
I did not understand everything about A / B slots, I have my rom installed on slot B, I can test a new rom on slot A without formatting and lose my current rom right?

then you have other battery drainers, because my battery lasts quite a while. Of course, I don't have many social media crap apps listening. I only have the instagram app and remind - that's it.
Look for the BetterBatteryStats thread, install it, and investigate what drained your battery.
Or, stay with Pixel Experience. Or, get a Pixel
Can i try other rom with A or B slot like multirom ?
I don't know how those slots work either. On my Pixel 2XL I tried that multi rom thing and it didn't work out so I don't do that anymore.
Same here. UI is awesome! I have both pros 7 and 8 best I did cuz I know we all like to play and that's we we're here. Is on the 7pro I went beta and the 8pro I changed the kernel to kirish. 8pro lasts forever and 7pro wonderful to use!
Hello all I am planning to put a custom rom in my poco X3 pro.can you suggest some good roms or should I wait for MIUI 13 update with Android 12 ..also when it is released?
There's already a MIUI 13 on top of Android 12, which I used, from xiaomi.eu. But I would recommend ArrowOS12.1. Couldn't be happier. Battery back up as a must.

How much is the battery life on arrow os ? And how much time is it good compared to MIUI 13?
Significantly better, for my usage pattern. Miui drains battery much faster. And Xiaomi.eu's is debloated and is easier on the battery.
Thanks for the reply mate .I will be using my phone mostly ..I need juice to last up to a day ..will it hold (arrow) and how is stability of the camera ?
If you are dissatisfied with the battery life in ArrowOS, try to install No Gravity Kernel
The GPU voltage is reduced by default and there is a dedicated app for it that is easy to use

I'm looking for a rom for the Galaxy S6 (SM-G920I) that dosent has to have lots of costumization options, rather it has to be stable and preferrably priorizing performance over battery life. I dont care if the rom is on an old android version. My idea is to use this phone as a car head unit, so I need good gps performance and maximum performance from the cpu and gpu. The phone is going to be constantly charghing, so no problem with battery life.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!

Thanks for the recommendation! I'm testing lineageos 17 frpm joshuadoes. It seems pretty good. As soon as i finish testing it, i'll sure go with evoX. Only one question, is this the evoX you say? Do you have any list of bugs?

Yeah, That's the one I am referring to and afaik the only major bug that I have found during my usage is that it struggles to play videos that have been recorded in @60 FPS (It doesn't occur in YouTube though, it only happens in apps like Google Photos, Gallery, etc).
LOS 17 is a great option as well. It's one of the best ROM's for the S6 out there. Tbh almost all the Custom ROM's based on Android 10 work really good for the S6.
