Hello, I have the verizon branded op8. It works fine, too bad I cant root... I am using it on ting, with a sim for the verizon network, switched from the sprint last fall. The phone software version is IN2019_15_210110, latest security update is december 1, 2020. Anyone know how to force an update?
Thanks, David

Please specify your phone branding/version. International unbranded version of 8X had the update for a week now. T-Mo's 8X started update yesterday. Other carrier versions, haven't heard anything.
So, it is important that you specify which 8X you have.

Yeah. I was overtly excited. Seems that updates are pushed quite rapidly. A surprise coming from using Android phones =P
I've a T-Mobile (Germany) branded one and i updated my device 8 days ago.
First download failed, second download worked (both trys over 3G).
- now battery managment is much more better, before battery drains too fast
- now call deny by sms possible
- now sms templates possible
- now W-LAN connection keeps allive under lockscreen, if activated in WLAN settings

Solved me a really big bug. Now the device is pairing with my BMW bluetooth handsfree.
It wasn't possible before the update.
got my 8X today on Vipnet HR, turned it on and there was an update.. great & fast. looking forward to play with device, coming from iPhone and SGS3.
Yes in Croatia I got Portico on Friday 7th December I think. Or perhaps Saturday. It was late in the evening and it worked flawlessly.
Got the update yesterday with my unbranded 8x but all the features said by microsoft in their website wasnt enabled in my phone. I cant redownload the update nad tried resetting my phone but still nothing.
Do Goldcards work with the 8X? To unbrand an AT&T version

Check your version info?
I'm on Verizon Branded which I am desperate to unbrand and they still havent released the latest firmware either!
Verizon = NO!
I bough my S8+ thinking it's unlocked and not branded but when I first booted my phone I had some polish carrier crap. So I uninstalled it. Since then I got 2 system updates and then they stopped. I'm still on june security patch.
How do I check if I get updates from Samsung or some carrier?
How do I get updates directly from Samsung not sacrificing any features (mobile hotspot, lte+ etc.) and not tripping knox?
When I turned on my Galaxy S10e without the SIM to set it up, it received the August 1st security update. One of our other S10e on Tmobile (but in use without a SIM) already received the One UI 2.5 update back when it was released at the beginning of Oct. Somehow, this phone has not received it yet. How do I know my phone is configured correctly to receive OTA from Tmobile? And how would one check if their phone is getting OTAs from Samsung or their carrier?
When I look here, it doesn't specifically list the One UI 2.5 update, but, like I said, one of our Tmobile phones got the update.

You can use Odin and frijA or samfrew to get the latest firmware. And flash it manually. If they Are byod sometimes they can be finicky on updates
I had a Note 20 Ultra 5G (N986U) from AT&T.
It was stuck on Sept 1, 2020 security patch. I contacted AT&T and they were literally NO HELP!
All the other carriers are getting security updates for Oct and Nov.
I thought the software was malfunctioning so I had it replaced by Asurion with a BRAND NEW Note 20 Ultra 5G (N986U).
However the same issue. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to force install security updates?
Welcome to AT&T... Nothing wrong with your phone at all. AT&T are notorious for delaying updates.
They released the Sept. update extremally late and completely ignored the Oct. update.
Nov. update "might" happen around Thanksgiving.
I have the same issue. I thought it was my phone. I'm also on the September 1 security update.

I'm still on July 2020, check for updates and nothing. I tried wiping cache and that didn't change anything. I'm on the unlocked variant. Samsung needs to fix this ****.

As another pointed out, welcome to the world of At&t. Make sure you are on the correct firmware. When I wasn't getting updates I made sure I was on correct firmware path starting with ATH3. Once installed Ota kicked in updating me to BTIF. What also helped, I set date 2weeks ahead then checked for update.

Are you using a N20U ? It wasn't even out in July but if you are is it Snapdragon or Exynos ?..... I'm using an unlocked SD one and its on the November security patch. I got the update a couple days ago.
The 1st build was July even though it wasn't out in July

Lol now im stuck again
I HAVE SAMSUNG S21PLUS MODEL NO SM-G996U IN 2023 STILL WORKING ON ANDRIOD 11 AND I WANT TO UPDATE TO ANDRIOD 13 BUT AUTO UPDATE IS NOT COMING
I TRIED IT DOING IT MANUALLY FROM SAM MOBILE WHERE THERE ARE TWO UPDATE AVAILABLE FROM SM-G996U1 SHOULD I USE THAT FIRMWARE OR ONLY SM-G996U WOULD WORK ?
One's carrier unlocked, one's AT&T.
Either version will work on AT&T except you might lose vid calling with the U1 version.
I would stay on 11... personally I'll never go beyond 10 on my N10+'s. Zero trust in Gookill.
G996U is any US carrier's phone, not just AT&T. My T-Mobile S23+ is an SM-G996U. (and it remains a 996U even after is's unlocked)
