Clarification regarding specs

Hello All,
I have started this thread as I couldn't find relevant info anywhere else. I purchased a Galaxy R 2 days back. As mentioned in the specifications on the box, the device has 1gb RAM and 8 gb internal storage along with 2gb ROM. However, when I check my device, it shows only 768 MB of RAM. Again internal storage shows to be only 3.75 GB and not 8 GB. Please comment.
If a similar thread exists, please merge, I couldn't find one.

yep I don't know how it should be (of cours beside RAM becouse its ok) but I have just like you in mine...
yep same like mine also..
8gb internal storage and u'll get 3.75gb..
if u wanna check again.. try it on SGSII 16gb.. only 12gb is usable for user..
so meaning almost 4gb of storage will be used up by android or samsung touchwiz? not sure though.. maybe some1 can explain better than me.
and the ram also the same. hope this help!
A lot of space is reserved/used by Android. You do not see it because an unrooted device does not have access to that area. Buy a cheap 32 gb sd card.
I think mrsaccess won't be mad if I link his post, where he explains that in a great, simple way.

The SAMSUNG Specs for HK is User Memory: 8GB (ROM: 512MB ; RAM: 1GB)
The user memory includes RAM and ROM as well.
Internal USB Storage 3.75GB+ Internal Device Storage 1.5 GB+ RAM 1 GB. max (256 MB for GPU)+ ROM 512MB Usable (Max 2GB)
Can it be like above case? I saw some reviews and posts around the web saying like this. I am not sure, and someone can give more deep insights.

I don't think so.
Galaxy R specifications:
- 1GB of RAM (256MB for the GPU, 768MB are free).
- 8GB of internal storage (2GB ROM, 2GB for applications and 4GB as mass storage).

Amount of user available ram on the 2gb version

Hi guys, as the titles says, how much ram is user available on the 2gb version?
By user available i mean adding the used+free ram.
I am asking this because my nexus 10 is supposed to have 2gb of ram, but only 1.1gb is user available, the remainder is taken up by the OS.

1850 is maximum . if you freeze a lot of bloatware after reboot you have estimated 1gb ram free left.
After a lot of use without a reboot free memory drops to 650.
Memory is not a problem since it is also ddr4.
Also in android less memory left is sometimes better.

Anyone Using the 1GB RAM Version?

Here in Canada , we only have access to the 1GB RAM version unfortunate. Anyone using this one have performance problems? Is it slow and lagging?
I believe the same apps are installed on both versions, so I can help you figure this out by analyzing the "running apps" memory usage on my phone (the 2GB one). Bear in mind that I'm using a dual sim variant and that my 3G data connection is enabled on the first sim and I have Whatsapp installed and running on my phone. So, here it goes:
Right now it shows that the system is using 375MB of RAM, the App 349MB and there are 1.2GB of RAM free.
So, if your usage is similar to mine, you should be left with 200MB of RAM free on your system, which, to me, equals a sluggish performance on any Android phone!
Hope That Helped!
No single lag here! I'm really excited with it,totally worth buying also no heat issue's at all.
400 MB free ram using the xt1540 1g version form koodo carrier running pure stock with some apps disabled.
Guest mode????
Do u guys have guest mode available on canadian version, guest mode not available in indian version ,i am using moto g32015 16gb/2gbversion

how to differ from RAM ans ROM

hi, dear all
I am a man who is interested in Android phones, but no matter of the brand they are, i found that they all describe the RAM and ROM. Mostly, they are 4G RAM, 64G ROM, so my question is if 3G RAM,32G ROM, then which means that 4G RAM and 64G ROM is much better than the former one?
it will be very thankful, if someone can tell me in details

Hi,
Welcome to XDA!
ROM: Read Only Memory
RAM: Random Access Memory
ROM: Storage. It's where you store all your data like music, photos, videos, games, movies, documents etc. It's often known as Internal Storage.
RAM: It's only accessible by the phone. The more RAM you have, the faster your device should be. It's often called "Memory".
A device with 64GB ROM and 4GB RAM should be faster than a device with 32GB ROM and 3GB RAM.

Which Redmi S2/Y2 rom is the best for battery life, no heat issues and memory usage?

about memory usage, i meant largest free memory available as possible.
Just need an opinion from someone who tested all the released S2/Y2 roms here. Thank you
Install any rom which don't have gapps included.
