hi, dear all
I am a man who is interested in Android phones, but no matter of the brand they are, i found that they all describe the RAM and ROM. Mostly, they are 4G RAM, 64G ROM, so my question is if 3G RAM,32G ROM, then which means that 4G RAM and 64G ROM is much better than the former one?
it will be very thankful, if someone can tell me in details

Hi,
Welcome to XDA!
ROM: Read Only Memory
RAM: Random Access Memory
ROM: Storage. It's where you store all your data like music, photos, videos, games, movies, documents etc. It's often known as Internal Storage.
RAM: It's only accessible by the phone. The more RAM you have, the faster your device should be. It's often called "Memory".
A device with 64GB ROM and 4GB RAM should be faster than a device with 32GB ROM and 3GB RAM.

I've got myself a HTC Sensation XE.
Specs for the phone was stated 6GB Total but i believe it was partition for user usage on 1GB+
How can I fully utilise the whole capacity or to repartition to 3gb for usage.
The next issue i found out was that the memory was stated 768MB of Ram installed however it seems like HTC itself already used up 400-500mb+
Any Help? Sorry for my poor english.

Hi,
I really do not think there is any problem with the 1GB of internal space.
That is plenty of space for normal operation of the phone.
Similarly, there is no problem with the amount of RAM you have to play with.
If you are worried, you can use a program like ROM CLEANER to clear out all the crap you do not want to run BEFORE you install the ROM.
Hello All,
I have started this thread as I couldn't find relevant info anywhere else. I purchased a Galaxy R 2 days back. As mentioned in the specifications on the box, the device has 1gb RAM and 8 gb internal storage along with 2gb ROM. However, when I check my device, it shows only 768 MB of RAM. Again internal storage shows to be only 3.75 GB and not 8 GB. Please comment.
If a similar thread exists, please merge, I couldn't find one.

yep I don't know how it should be (of cours beside RAM becouse its ok) but I have just like you in mine...
yep same like mine also..
8gb internal storage and u'll get 3.75gb..
if u wanna check again.. try it on SGSII 16gb.. only 12gb is usable for user..
so meaning almost 4gb of storage will be used up by android or samsung touchwiz? not sure though.. maybe some1 can explain better than me.
and the ram also the same. hope this help!
A lot of space is reserved/used by Android. You do not see it because an unrooted device does not have access to that area. Buy a cheap 32 gb sd card.
I think mrsaccess won't be mad if I link his post, where he explains that in a great, simple way.

The SAMSUNG Specs for HK is User Memory: 8GB (ROM: 512MB ; RAM: 1GB)
The user memory includes RAM and ROM as well.
Internal USB Storage 3.75GB+ Internal Device Storage 1.5 GB+ RAM 1 GB. max (256 MB for GPU)+ ROM 512MB Usable (Max 2GB)
Can it be like above case? I saw some reviews and posts around the web saying like this. I am not sure, and someone can give more deep insights.

I don't think so.
Galaxy R specifications:
- 1GB of RAM (256MB for the GPU, 768MB are free).
- 8GB of internal storage (2GB ROM, 2GB for applications and 4GB as mass storage).

I have a Galaxy Tablet 2 GT-P5113..
The problem I have is, the tablet I have only has 800 Mb Ram, which makes the stock android system lag like crazy.
Are there any Roms that support this tablet and take up a really small amout of ram ?
Thank You!
P.S Sorry if the post is not HQ I'm new to the forums, this is like my 3rd thread on here.

I'm new too.
I rooted my Tab 2 7 and install a custom ROM.
If you have ES File manager (or similar) you can move some of your files that are taking up space on your internal ram to a micro sdhc card.
I currently have 3.9 GB free of the internal 4.5 GB that the tablet uses for storage. I have a 16GB external card with 4 GB left after all my movies and music and stuff.
Hello,
I'm thinking about buying a new phone and I want it to last some time without lags.
After some research, I realized that most phones on the market have 1GB RAM. Even the new Moto G, considered one of the best phones below 200€, has 1GB RAM.
Do you think that 1GB is enough to run smoothly the upcoming Android L with a decent amount of multitasking (Facebook, Tapatalk, Phone, Messaging...) and with minimum lag? How long do you think that this amount of RAM is going to be enough?
Hello Duarteman.. Are you the one from Redondo?

Hello bcuraman, I'm sorry but I don't know what you meant. I don't know what/where is Redondo...
That's fine.I just thought you were someone that I know.
About your question: it depends on what you're planning to use it for.if its for heavy usage and apps,I would say that 1gb won't be enough. I'm now on Oppo Find 7,and my previous phone was a SGS3, amazing phone but with only 1gb of ram.. It didn't lag that much, but it was noticeable unresponsive with some heavy apps...
If you're one of those people who just intend to use phone, messaging and Facebook, then 1gb is enough... Android L might be a lighter system but that's just the OS.. The apps is what makes the difference...How long the 1gb of ram lasts will depend on the ammount of apps you'd have open and how you feel with the phone itself..
i think 1 GB ram not enough, i have my S890 with 1 GB ram, it had litte lag with JB 4.2 .

It depends on the phone. Moto G? Yeah, 1GB is enough, because it runs (nearly) stock Android. A phone with a heavy ROM like a Samsung with TouchWiz? 1GB is barely adequate, and you'll see lag.
If you've got 200€ to spend, look at a Nexus 4. 2GB RAM and the processor is still very capable. Especially running stock Android or any custom ROM you can find. No LTE in Europe though, but 42.2Mb/s HSPA+ is still pretty fast.
1 GB RAM is very common now
Depends on what you will use your phone for. 1GB will let you easily do the day to day tasks.

I'm looking for a phone with Pure Android but that is not a very important issue. For example, if I buy a Samsung I can change the Stock ROM by a clean AOSP one. The essential thing here is the Hardware. Is 1GB enough for a fluent experience doing the main tasks (Fb, phone, sms, ...) for a few years?
The Nexus 4 is one of the phones I'm thinking about. The only thing that I don't like in it is the camera, it's weak. Other phones I'm thinking about are the HTC One M7 (unfortunately they are still a bit expensive) and the Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE (comes with a Quad Core and 2GB RAM). Other phones like the Moto G seem to be a nice deal and I can buy it new for less than 200€ but I'm really afraid that the (lack of) RAM.

Yes but that is for now... The question is how long will that last.
Thanks for all the replies btw!
Hi,
I have a chinese device, so called "Lenovo A808+". It pretends that it has 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. I think its real capacity is 512mb of RAM and 3GB of storage. Though, I do not know how to make the OS to give the right information. I installed Antutu and it reports 3GB/16GB while it's obvious that it's not true. I ran a writing test in the storage and it failed after 1.3GB...
I suspect that apps are crashing as they expect to be able to allocate more memory but they will fail to go farther than 512mb.
Is there something in the kernel that would force the system to provide false information?
I used the phone with another ROM and the same boot.img and it reported correctly 512mb/3gb but that rom has issues with devices so, I prefer to use the "stock" version.
Many thanks in advance for all advices or comments.
