You need to do a lot of reading and research. I'm sure there are guides in your device's section which could help you. Is your device rooted? Do you have a custom recovery installed?

Follow the instructions to flash a custom recovery (there must be a guide in your device's section). That's the only way to flash this ROM.
Hi This might be a question that has been answered already or no. I've been browsing through the site and ready on ROM's and stuff. I just wanted to ask how to identify if a Custom rom is stable already and if there is a way to know without trying the rom first. I am scared of rooting my phone because I am afraid that I might brick my phone and if so is there different ways or just a standard way to do like S-off/S-On and flashing a rom.
Phone: HTC Sensation
ROM: Stock ICS Rom 4.0.3

To identify the custom rom you need to flash it yourself and then judge it .But most of the JB rom like viperS/revelation especially Sense 5 is the latest and stable one ..
Also Before rooting and flashing custom rom you need to first Unlock bootloader and then flash recovery after that rooting and flashing roms..
No need to S-OFF , you will find it difficult (Wire Trick).
A great guide can be found HERE just skip the HBoot-S-OFF part and follow other instruction ..

Yes the guide is one time process. After that just download any Rom (VIPER or CM10 ) and then flash through recovery ..

Sorry for having such a lot of questions. Any particular Rom you would suggest. I just use basic stuff like gmail, txtplus app, and some games. A black based design would be perfect. Thanks in advance for the suggestion.
I have my htc Desire s with HBOOT 2.00.0002 unlocked bootloader form HTCDEV with S-OFF , i flashed CWM recovery 5.0 , i flashed cm 7.1 stable version and it worked.
I dint want to get Stuck in gingerbread so i downloaded some other roms from XDA like JEllY FIRE , UnoffiCial CM 10.2 , Carbon ROm , PAc MAN ROM e.tc. ... i flashed cwm recovery version 5 , then wiped Data , Cache , and dalvik cache and Flashed the above roms , but no luck , the phone got stuck on HTC logo ...
So i thought of downgrading the Hboot Version .. and i used the tutorial from a site which told me to use the given attachment to downgrade hboot ,
now i have Hboot version 0.98.2000 (PG****) (as i am seeing) , and s-off , but still when i tried flashing unofficial cm 10.2 the phone got stuck on htc logo .
Please help i want to use Jelly bean ... i need a detailed tutorial or video link to get a good jelly bean rom working on my phone ....
Please Help soon :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:

I have hitachi panel ... please reply soon .. how can i flash a custom rom without having that broghtness always 100% error .. .those links in that thread weere dead :crying:
I'm sorry, but no jb or kit-kat rom will work properly on your phone. Even if you get them to boot with one of those kernels mentioned in the thread, the brightness will not be adjustable. So unless you can live with that, you're stuck with cm7 or sense roms
Check this. You have hitachi panel and you need to flash MDDI kernel.Check Flinny site like this http://andromadus.flinny.org/?q=cm10_1 for JB but be careful some links don't work so find it yourself. In basic you can get brightness working on your phone.
Check all post with MDDI and find that kind of rom.
Sorry for your problem.

Can i get a link to the MIDI kernel which i can flash so that i can use flinny's 10.1 rom ???? the link given in the above post was dead
please provide a link to a rom which i can flash and get the stock ICS htc rom ... my hboot version is 7.**** .... which i upgraded today ... i am not pro i just want something which would solve the problem just by flashing
The simplest thing would be to flash some custom rom with HTC Sense, there are a few ics ones in the development section (with sense 3.6, like the stock ics, or with the newer sense 4/4.1)

Does this work just if i flash it ??????? can i get the link please ????????
Yes, as your phone is s-off now, just flash the rom in recovery (after wiping data, cache and Dalvik cache).
I really don't want to get into a discussion about which rom is "best", so I recommend you look in the development section for roms that say "sense 3.6" or "sense 4" or similar, and have quite recent comments in the threads; read at least the last few pages of the threads, and the op, to see if there are any known issues etc., then try one, if you don't like it, or want a change, try another one.

its too confusing ... i am seeing that the sense ICS roms are having some WIFI and Front CAM not working issues :crying: please give me a link of a rom that's working without any such issues and is ICS ... Sense Version doesn't matter to me unless it's 3.0 + .... please give a link of a rom which you think will be most helpful to me right
THANKS AHEAD !!! :good:
Ok, I would use this rom as a starting point, but remember you can always make a nandroid backup, try a new rom, and return to the previous ROM by restoring the backup:

Recently, some people seem to be reporting issues with sms, but considering how long this rom has been there and how many people have used it, I think these issues are only affecting very few users
Is there a jb rom .... I know they don't support Hitachi panel but I heard that some midi kernerls are there which if I flash these roms will work
sent from HTC DESIRE S using venom Rom
Hello,
I am new to this site, and new to this thing, but I am interested to update my HTC one V with some custom ROM (jellybean or higher) and I wanna know some info about which one is the most stable and popular one, with no bugs or trivial bugs.. It is frustrating because they are plenty of ROMs and kernels here.. and what is the difference between AOSP and AOKP version? somewhere I read that aokp is less stable but better... I actually want features included RAM and CPU clocking, because this is the coolest thing in these custom ROMs.. :cyclops:
- I have HTC one V (GSM) rooted and bootloader unlocked
- I have CWM recovery 6.0.3.3 installed
- I have official android v4.0.3
so which ROM you guys prefer to me and which kernel that goes along? and is my CWM version ok or I need other one?.. I really want to get more of this phone than I am getting now.. it's a really nice phone but it's a bit lazy when operating tasks, so it's not for impatient users
I am new to this, but I somehow succeeded to root my V, thanks for detailed instructions on this site, so thanks to you guys ..now I just have to update my ROM, and I will be more than happy

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
Fortunately there is an XDA area dedicated to the HTC One V at http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-v. I suggest you post your question with all relevant details in the friendly Q&A forum there at http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-v/help where the experts familiar with your device will be best able to guide you.
Good Luck!
I have just updated my device (redmi 3s) to miui 9.6.1.0 (MALMIFD) Stable offiial
after update....
( I have unlocked bootloader and flash TWRP3.1.1)
Now i want to install custom ROM
I just want to ask, can i install any ROM (For miui 9.6.1.0 ). OR only a few OR no roms are available for me. Because i have heard that downgrading OS is unstable (and i dont know whether i am downgrading or upgrading system) I mean I am confused and afraid that i can brick my phone( and also it is been almost 4 years ago since i used to have been playing with custom ROMs. Please guide
Thanks.

The point of downgrading is with android 8.1 and your device still runs on 6.0
So no issue with it.
Just download and rom and appropriate gapps with it and you are done.
Please post these types of threads in guides and news area from next time.
Peace.
