Hi, I received and start using my galaxy watch 4 couple of days ago. However, I noticed there are no called ID shown on the watch when receiving incoming call. Missed call will show the caller name. I have checked all the permission are allowed for the wearable apps and phone app, contact app and etc. Didn't found much info around.
I tried many methods including factory reset the watch but still not fix it.
I tried remove the country code of the contact number on my phone. Finally it works, showing the caller ID on the watch when receiving call. But I have thousand of contacts with the country codes add infront of the phone number. It's massive work to remove all the country code one by one. Any one have any idea on what happening. I'm lost and could figure out what's the problem.
Anybody have a same issue and able to fix it?
I have this, somewhere else someone said that it's a known issue

I see. Any way can fix it?
And I have a similar one but with SMS Samsung. Only the sender's number, but no name (all people from the phone book). At the same time, SMS Google displays the name correctly ...

I have a new Samsung Galaxy S6, running 5.1.1. For a week, incoming and outgoing text messages have been registering correctly in the call log. As of today, texts are no longer registering in the call log (but they appear in the message log) and no previous texts are listed. I have spent quite a bit of time looking online for an answer - no luck. I would appreciate any help.
Best and thanks,

Go to recovery mode and wipe cache.

Thanks, but that did not work. Any other suggestions?
Try a full reset. Your problem may also be due to a rougue app. I hope this helps.
Nope, still did not work. Still not recording incoming or outgoing text messages in the call log.
Surely a 'call log' is for calls, therefore SMS messages aren't included?

I would agree but the oddity is that text messages were included in the call log (the log indicated that the contact was an SMS) for about a week and then they disappeared. I would like to restore that function.
Text not recorded in call log
Hello Ubi100,
I am glad I found this thread. I have owned a GS6 edge for exactly 3 days just because of this problem. I am a "veteran" user of the galaxy s line and the GS6 is the first one that does not show text messages in the call log. My GS6 edge running 5.1.1 did not show at any time sms in call log. I have also installed 3rd party apps for call log and it did not help. The GS4 and GS5 running Lolipop have no issue with this and they show text messages in call log , so I don't think that the software version is the problem. So please tell me that you found a way to fix this issue.
Thanks

Hi Forum_user,
Alas to no avail. I have spent a great deal of time online looking for the solution to this problem. I have never found anyone who has a direct answer to this exact situation. I have followed everyone's general suggestions but still no luck. No record of text messages in the call log.
The only thing that I can guess is that my phone was delivered with Lollipop 5.0.2 on it. With that version, the text messages showed in the call log. When I upgraded to Lollipop 5.1.1, the text messages disappeared from the log.
I would appreciate it if you could let me know if you find anything else out.
Thanks,
ubi100
Same problem. I think it is extremely convenient to hva both the cal and the SMS log in one list. I often answer calls with a SMS and vice versa. With a combined list as it was before I had god control whom I answered and whom not. If somebody has a solution to the problem I would be thankful.
Did anybody ever find a way to fix this? I'm dealing with the same thing on my gs6. It showed for about a week in the call log and now it doesn't. And I can't find anything online about what to do.
Yes. I too am a long time user of the galaxy series. Until the s5 the call log and message log was unified. Which does not seem to the case in s7. The new scheme is not convenient and is a feature downgrade in my view.
It's exactly the same on the S7, A royal pain & a massive step in the WRONG direction, even if they add it back in as 'activity log'
I use my S7 and miss the combined message/call log alot I stumbled in here seeking a solution. Hopefully a future upgrade will bring it back!
I am wondering if anyone had this issue after rooting the phone, but when I receive calls, their caller ID comes wrong: The number is always is missing the country code:
for example, instead of receiving +1 248 123 4567, i get +248 123 4567. So not only saved numbers are not recognized because they do not match the caller id, but if i let the call stop and try to call back that missed call, I get the operator's automated message saying that the dialed number is wrong.
Any idea about how to fix this?

Go to phone/settings/calls and disable/enable assisted calling
Plus set your current country to match the country code

I tried both enabled and disabled assisted dialing. Problem still persisting. Country code is matching (USA). Any hints?

I installed prefixer a couple of days ago... still not fixed. Can you walk me through how you made it work please?
My phone keeps getting worse... home screen changing to pink randomly, dialtone not working anymore. Rooting my phone was the biggest mistake ever. I wish i could reverse all this process.
The phone app that came on my Phab2 Pro is not Google's and it doesn't seem to have any way to block spam callers. Anybody else have this problem & how can I fix it?
BTW, I tried installing the real phone app (http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...gle-phone-7-0-140755802-android-apk-download/) but it fails with the message "Parse error".
I installed the Asus contacts and Dialer from the play store. It does just fine for now.
I use Truecaller app. I googled 'best Call Blocker for android" and Truecaller came up on top of several review list.

Using Asus contacts & dialer and, when calls come in, phone rings but no answer screen shows up. I can't answer the call. Ideas?

I'm still using it and I have not had any issues. Has it worked at all for you? If so I'd probably Uninstall apps that you've installed since. If not then maybe start with a fresh install and put that on first. Since you have the same phone it has to be an app conflict.
I use Google Voice, I will never give out the phone number that my carrier assigned me. I only give out my Google Voice phone number, you can block callers or mark as spam. I did like one feature that comes with P2P phone app, the ability to record an active call and it will record both sides of the conversation.

Me too, no problems blocking with Google Voice. Problems with the cell line. Trash marketers programatically continuously dial all possible phone numbers, noting which are activated, without regard to whether or a not lines are cellular. Numbers that are answered progress to stage two, spam calls.

Tried backing out apps but no joy. Wiped phone and now all works. Think the problem was related to removing the SD card last week to make room for 2nd SIM.

Ahh, might have a solution for you. Back in the days before cell phones were popular, landlines ruled the earth with cassette tape answering machines. I would get the same trash and telephone marketers with their systems listening for the caller to say hello and connect you to their marketers, if no one picked up then their system would call until someone picked up. BUT! if that same system got a certain signal it would remove the phone number from their call list.
this link is automated recording of a disconnected or number not in service. Save this as your voicemail greeting, the tones you hear at the beginning are what tell their system that the number is not in service and remove you from their list.
How to block number in lenovo phab2 plus??......it has no option for privacy in settings and call details also does not show any options to block
All incoming calls from people not in the contact list show caller ID name as "Restricted", despite the phone number being available. Sometimes the incoming number is displayed, sometimes it's not, depending on where the incoming call is shown. The number is always available in call history, and the caller's location is displayed. This is a huge headache, since some of us don't care for answering blocked callers.
This is not a carrier issue, but a glitch in the way the phone interprets the caller ID information.
Has anyone come up with a workaround or fix yet?
Same issue here. Quite frustrating.

I thought it was related to me having the google dialer framework installed.
Now I know I'm not alone. Yeah, pain in the butt.

Hey guys I have a Google Pixel XL4 and my father has a Samsung Galaxy S5. I received a text of a Tik Tok link from what I thought was him at first but then realized it wasn't from him as my saved contact but a different number from Georgia. I also noticed at the beginning of the Text was "Dad" right before the TikTok message that he shared from TikTok. I then Googled the number and it said that it's most likely involved in Spamming etc. I then decided to Call it because I wanted to screw with the Scammer for the hell of it lol and but instead to my surprise my Father's phone then started ringing and it came up on his screen that it was a Restricted caller but it's from my phone? I thought to myself do I have a eSim setup on my phone and don't know about it or something, or I could have a VOIP number setup like Jabber or Google Voice? Or would the issue be on his side? I have checked my phone and there is not evidence of a seccond Sim or eSim I do have Google Voice but that is a different number. I have yet to get a chance to look at his phone because he is not here currently but am wanting to find out some thoughts and ideas on what could be doing this? Thank You for any responses!!

i once had google voice completely hijack my phones calls and texts for several hours while i tried to figure it out. I have to uninstall it and reboot to get it resolved and as soon as i reinstalled google voice, it did the exact same thing again. try uninstalling it and any other apps that can make calls and try it again. If it keeps doing it, get 3 examples of the call and call your provider and have them investigate. Im a network operations center tech, this is kinda what i do for a living but with an ISP, not a phone co. But that is the process if you want to find out whats happening to the call routing.
completely nonrelated side note, your username minus the M on front basically my name if you squeeze "ug" between the D and the T. Kinda random LOL
