Other Files Are Just App Data Combined. I would suggest you to take backup and Reset.

[Q] HELP!!! Phone showing 11GB after cyanogenmod instal

HI
I installed Cyanogenmod 11 (cm-11-20140821-NIGHTLY-i9300) on my GT-I9300 along with "pa_gapps-stock-4.4.2-20140608-signed" and "UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02". when I goto applications under setting I see that I've only 6GB free and 4.5GB used storage. And under storage I see that I've only 11.5GB storage space when my phone has 16GB. Why is it showing that way? Please help.

Ali

That's normal, I think. On my Nexus 4 16gb with CM11M8 it shows 12.95gb storage. It's just not including the partition that the OS is stored on.

[Q] Classic "App" Couldn't be installed. Free up some space and try again.

Hey, I have a classic problem. I have approx. 2 GB free of 32, but when I tried to download a rather small app (50 MB), I get the insufficient space problem. I tried removing Poweramp (and now I can't get it back), clearing cache from recovery, and removing .odex files and such. Is there a solution I haven't tried yet?

You have approx. 2 GB free of 32. Is it device memory or SD card?
What is the destination storage for your downloading of that small app? SD card or device memory?

you might need to clear logs and also change install location to SD card. Checkout this guide on How to fix the “Application not installed” error on an Android phone [/URL] . If its MTK based then you could expand the internal storage space.

Yeah, my phone is a Moto X (2013), so I don't have external storage.

Help, internal memory of 8gb cut in half to 4gb

So a couple months ago i downgraded from android nougat to CM 13 on my osprey 8GB variant, when I went into my storage section i see that it says that I only have 4GB of internal memory (TOTAL) So I quickly flashed another MM roms like MIUI rom or dirty unicorns to see if the problem was my memory and it still showed only half my storage, the only MM rom that displays my whole storage is Resurrection Remix and idk why (btw my memory works perfectly on any Nougat rom I flash but when I plug my phone into a PC it only shows 4GB, same thing happens with file explorers, they only show half the memory)
Could anyone help me solve this? thanks in advance

So you're saying Nougat shows 8GB in settings/storage? And file explorers in Nougat?

File explorers only show the space available to the user.
Explaining more elaborately, I'm using solid explorer. It shows internal storage as 4.54GB. This 4.54GB space consists of the internal storage and the /data partition.
The remaining space is used by the /system and other partitions.
So no matter which ROM you are on, all file explorers will only show 4.5GB storage. There is nothing wrong with the ROM or your phone.
Even though the box of the phone says it has 8GB storage, entire 8GB are not available to the user. About 3GB is required for the system and Android OS. If you check the 16GB variant, you'll see that file explorers will show around 12GB space.

"thumbdata3" and Available Space

Hi,
A few days ago I found out that there were two files called thumbdata3 in "DCIM/.thumbnails" that were occupying around 6 GB between the two. I deleted them, and did the workaround of creating folders with the name of the files. After doing that, the files haven't been created again, but the available space hasn't increased. Before deleting the files I had 750 Mb, and after deleting them I still have the same amount of space.
What should I do to recover the amount of space occupied by those files?
I have a Xperia Z3+ with a stock ROM (5.0.2), unrooted.

You can check with that app where those files located now. Maybe something other occupies the storage of 6GB https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.diskusage

Hi,
Thank you for the reply, but I already downloaded the application that you suggested, and there are no other files occupying those 6 GB. Moreover, I don't have a SD Card, so there is no doubt that the files were deleted from the internal storage.

Internal / SD shared memory - can't access files anymore but still there

Hello everyone,
I have a very strange problem that I got yesterday evening. Usually, I can find myself the solution or with the help of search forms or google but this is very strange and I need expert of Android. That's why I am asking it here.
I have a Vernee Thor E (the model of the phone is not needed I think) and I have a shared memory between my internal memory of 16 GB and a micro sd card of 16 GB. Yesterday, some apps didn't launch and I first thought I had to reboot my phone. But when I did that, some appls disppeared from my phone and all photos and videos. So it was like my SD card was not detected anymore.
Now, the SD card is detected again (and also as a shared memory) but I cannot access anymore the old data (about 8 GB). So the sd card is half used and I see that 8GB is used but I cannot access the data. Files are hidden. And as it is a shared memory, a computer cannot read these data.
Is there a way to have access to these files or restore the old link ? With some adb commands or something else ?
Thank you very much for your help.

Thank you very much. So, now I hope that the system didn't delete the key. I will try this this week and of course, I will come back here to explain what I did if it can help other people.

There are other methods here for various states of sdcard/adoptable storage corruption. Try finding one that specifically suits your scenario based on what is or isn't accessible and how the card is or isn't being detected.
The solution might be different or even easier depending on the specific conditions involved.
