Z Flip 3 and True Phone app - General Questions and Answers

Hello! I use Z Flip 3 and I'm very upset that I can't use the True Phone app, due to the fact that I can't see who is calling when the phone is foldable. Is there a solution to this problem?

[Q] Touchscreen grid, better than Z2?

My Z3 has a really visble touchscreen grid. I don't live in the Sahara and this little spring sun makes it light up and sparkle like it wanted to remind me it's there.
They said Z2 was affected and Z3 was problem free, probably Z2 had a grill more than a grid.
Tell me I'm the only one and Sony will be happy to swap my unit for a new one.
Please tell me
ps a part from that (and other problems my screen has) I'm absolutely in love with this phone and it has been only a dozen hours.
The Grid is on every Z3 I've seen so far. One mate has an protection cover and its the only way to make it "barely" visible.
I let my phone repair under warranty because of this dots but the new touchscreen is only slighly better. The dots and grid is still visible in sunlight.
The iPhone and Samsung I owned before didn't have this "grid". It annoys me a bit and for sure I will never buy an phone again which shows these.
Z...Z1...Z2 and now Z3 - all devices had or have those dots..
That's digitaliser Sony is using...
If I can remember well, I think my old Xperia S had same digitaliser as well...
That's right, I also saw this only on Sony devices but I really don't care a bit for that....
It's not problem, it's not hardware failure - Sony built it that way...

[Q] L36H vs C6606 screen protectors

So I bought some tempered glass for my Z C6606, but of course only now noticing that it says it doesnt support the C6606 and only the L36H C6602 C6603. I'm trying to figure out if there is actually a screen difference to make it so this screen protector doesn't work with a C6606, but I'm not able to find anything on the web...
I got http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IKYVRQE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 and if you have a better recommendation for the C6606, I'm all ears.
The only difference between C6603(international) , C6602(Asia, i think) and C6606(USA) are the network bands. They all have the same hardware.
Good, another words there shouldn't be any problems.
u can use it without any problem...

XA2 ultra ghost touch problem

I have purchased a xperia XA2 ultra and faced a ghost touch issue at the top of the touch screen.
I have send my device for a replacement. The issue is still there at the replaced one.
Is this a software or Oreo Android problem
Here is the video
https://youtu.be/w_XxCfC8LDU
A friend of mine had this in a Z3
We rooted and changed the ROM, nothing happened.
He replaced the screen, nothing happened.
So he Bought a new Z3, and happened again.
This is some problem with Sony´s i think. Bought my XA2 today and waiting for it to arrive, and hope this not happens to me.
Good luck with yours
Seems like all Sonys do this eventually. Stop buying their crappy phones. Two out of three our premium Sony's have developed this; waiting on the third to start.
There's something happens when you put a case on.
I have it happens on XA Ultra and XA1 Ultra. Remove the case and it's gone and put the case back on.
No side bezel is what to blame.

How to wake up phone when using full case (e.g. waterproof)

I have tried some phones (I use HTC U Ultra, checked it with Nokia 8 also) and there is huge problem with waking up.
Despite using knock/double tap function to wake up phone it very very rarely works. At first I thought there is problem with film protector in my phone case.
I use bike dust proof case for my phone and would like to easily check map in phone. I have bought 3 different cases. I have bought 3 waterproof cases for kayaking. Nothing really changed.
Now I suspect that there is problem with android and it blocks waking up when proximity sensor is covered (and it always is when in case).
Then I've came up with NFC unlocking but these idiots killed it in 2017.
Searched (almost) whole internet and was shocked nobody has problem with this scenario. How people use phones then ? Am I missing something?
How to wake up phone in this case ?

proximity sensor issues?

Hi. have any of you noticed issues with proximity sensors? im talking about situation where on calling someone on any app screen goes black and cant even be woken up with power key or anything. it lights up automatically when the other person/your caller hangs on call. like the phone is thinking its next to head even though its not.
i have tested with some app from playstore to check if the sensor is ok, and seems like it is working properly.
is there a hardware sensor on this phone? where is it located? is there an ability to fix it? is it software issue? anyone else experiencing it? is there a way to always wake up screen with power key?
It's an issue with pocket mode. I had to send my 8T back and got a refund because of it. The phone would lock me out and not let me do anything also happened when I'm on a call. Turn off pocket mode and check to see if that fixes it. I didn't want to have to turn off an essential feature of the phone to fix something that shouldn't have been an issue in the first place so I sent mine back. Luckily I noticed it within the 15 day return period. Got a refund and bought another 8T. This new one works great
Really sad to hear about your issues with the proximity sensor. This is the exact reason why I sent my Galaxy S20 FE back! I was not having the problems with the screen itself like so many others were/are...but I like to use double tap to wake (used it for years now) and every time I pulled the FE out of my pocket the screen was ON with multiple taps being entered all over the place. What a mess! I blame everyone, and I mean EVERYONE who has called, and keeps calling for smaller BEZELS! What is wrong with a little bezel on the top where all the necessary sensors (including the selfie camera) can be housed? Does anyone like it when their phone malfunctions because their proximity sensor is crap, or that it is virtual and virtually does NOT WORK? Does anyone LIKE the look of a NOTCH, or a PUNCH HOLE in comparison to having an unblemished screen??? So many things have become basically intolerable because of stupid, useless changes in these necessary tools. I hope that someone besides Sony will see the light and return to what is practical for the functioning of our phones. Rant over...for now...and I hate to say it but my 8T is functioning properly. So whatever way they have implemented pocket mode...it is working for me, and this makes me very happy. I truly hope you can get your issues resolved one way or another!

I personally have not had this issue, even with pocket mode enabled. The sensor works a lot better than the one in the 7 Pro. I'm not sure where the sensor is on the 8T, but on the 7 Pro it's actually under the display and I guess that was OnePlus' first attempt at under-display sensors, so the auto-brightness was always a little janky as well. The 8T's seems to work much, much better...at least on my phone & my girl's.
Do you perhaps have a screen protector thar might be slightly misaligned and therefore maybe covering the sensor, or perhaps a large case on the phone? I'm just spit-balling here, trying to think of anything that could possibly cause this.
Regardless, it's still dumb that you're facing this.
Sent from my OnePlus 8T using XDA Labs
I have only found that the sensor is very sensitive as it is up next to the earpiece and tends to collect dust there and this leads to the sensor thinking the phone is in the pocket (or on the ear). Just clean the dust
just wanted to let you know i returned this ****.
i am with oneplus from 6t, up to 7t and now i ordered 8t. this company makes worse and worse devices each year. compared to 7t the camera is worse, speakers are worse too.. and these proximity sensor issues, which apparently are with onepluses since 7. damn, never again oneplus, such a crap b-brand. and even sadder is the approach of people praising it for things that can not even be said about it like software update

According to the OnePlus Community forum...it appears to me that the Indian version of the phone is the one that is having all sorts of problems...at least when you read the numerous complaints. I do not know why the Indian version would be any different, or more prone to bugs and malfunctions that the EU or NA versions. I have the unlocked NA version purchased directly from OnePlus and I am having virtually ZERO issues with mine. I had the 6, the 7 Pro, and now the 8T...all unlocked NA versions purchased directly from OnePlus and they all worked flawlessly. I sold the 6 and 7 Pro and the people who bought them from me love them, and also have not had any issues. I always check back with "customers" and they tell me all is good! So, am I just fortunate, or is there something going on with the manufacturing process here? I do not know...but what I do know is that the 8T works way better than the S20 FE did (which I sent back) and it may possibly be the best, fastest working phone I have ever owned! So sorry you are having issues. Is yours the Indian version?

"I do not know why the Indian version would be any different" - and i do. its because indian people will shriek to oneplus logo no matter how poopy the product is. you can treat them worse, and they still will be pleasured to the sky. that might sound harsh, but that's true. same goes with xiaomi phones. indian versions come with different parts! can you imagine the phone has better amoled screen for europe and usa, and worse chinese amoled for indian market? or worse batteries? well, indian xiaomi phones are definition of that. and it all is because customers do not require any better. like i said, we are apologists. no matter how bad the product will be, we will unconditionally defend the company.
and i did purchase directly from oneplus in europe. not only i had proximity sensor issues, but the feeling of speakers is way cheaper than in 7t. also camera is a joke - downgrade from 7t. couldn't stand this joke of a phone.
screen and battery life were nice though.
