Hey guys,
I've read mixed reports that sometimes ODIN erases your files and sometimes it doesn't.
So what determines if ODIN is gonna erase my files or not? I'm not getting OTA since August and I would like to keep installing security patches but I don't what to lose my files.
How can I get the most recent firmware from sammobile and flash it without losing stuff? I remember doing this in S4, is it still possible in S7? What should I look for? Keep same CSC code? Country code? Does it matter?

Hi mate
Read here
If you keep your current CSC and use home_csc file ( must be the same as you have now) for flashing nothing is lost..... if you use CSC file then you factory reset your phone

Thanks, what about this line?
"With Odin v3.11.1, you DON'T HAVE TO ALTER the HOME_CSC anymore! (this was necessary in previous Odin v3.10.7 (that version couldn't handle with the "folder" in the HOME_CSC and Odin would "freeze!); this problem is SOLVED in v3.11.1!)"

Is this unrelated?
So if my CSC Version is G930FOJV1BPH3 I should use any HOME_CSC containing OJV? Or by "same as you have now" you mean exact numbering?

The issue with Odin is no relevant any more , it was an old issue
i meant same home_csc , if you use a different csc than the one you have then is when you get a factory reset .
You can flash any firmware you want , just use a home_csc file containing the same country code as you have , in your case OJV
New instructions dated Sept 15th 2018
No root needed.
Should work on all Snapdragon USA/Canada etc models (ATT , verizon, sprint, tmobile tc) S7 or S7edge (though the file is from S7edge India model). Leave a message in this thread if you encounter any issues.
Am not responsible for any damage you might do to your device.. am just trying to help.
Keep your Jio SIM in the phone all along.
1. Back up your data using Samsung smart switch or any other means (save whatsapp chats to google in settings)
2. Flash stock firmware (On unzipping stock FW, you'll get AP, CP,BL and CSC files. Use Odin to flash them) (Don't flash User data file if it's there in extracted files) - Download from Updato site for faster downloads
Use recommended patched Odin is located here
3. Download the Indian CSC file G935F_INSCSC
4. Ignore this step if you have adb working on your PC already.
Install "minimal ADB fastboot" program on PC, Copy the G935F_INSCSC.zip to your minimal ADB folder on computer (under program files on C drive).
Double click cmd-here.exe in that folder.
5. Boot the phone to recovery mode and choose Apply update via ADB sideload
6. Connect your phone to your computer with your USB cable.
7. On ADB window on PC type "adb devices" without quotes. Next line should show a device attached
If seen, type "adb sideload G935F_INSCSC.zip" without qoutes. It'll start transferring the file.. check mobile screen it'll install itself. (you might see some errors)
8. Reboot file and check, you should have Volte.
Possible errors:
1. Phone app/Msg app force closing
Try SMS app from google
Reflash AP BL CP only excluding CSC
Install CSC zip via adb again
2. Sprint OMADM app needs to be removed to avoid annoying notification or change notifications to low priority
To remove via ADB, turn on usb debugging
type in adb shell
you should see a dollar sign.
next type in pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sec.omadmspr
it should say success.
ADB sideloading is explained in this video in the last https://youtu.be/giD7nP4Oue4
Old instructions have been deleted....
Thank you Proper vlog on youtube for testing my method and reporting.

And for S7 UFirm_INS_Hybrid_NoNaMe_PS_BS_Free_G930U_QE2_V2 zip
I see the device security been disabled and when i try to open it , it force closes . does this means Knox is disabled and thats why i am not able to add any cards in samsung pay ?
Can you please help? . I need to have samsung pay working ?
Is the CSC file you included only take care of Jio VoLTE or stuffs with all operators ? . I hear that Airtel is even testing VoLTE.

I've only tested till login. Tried to add card after reading your comment. I too had connection error. I've only changed CSC in that file. US guys didn't have any issues it seems.
I can't open some pages on spay too.. not sure if it's related to Samsung servers or our device. I'll check later.
If it were related to knox issue, it won't even let you login. (Like on a rooted device).
VoLTE is related to CSC and device model. So it should work with airtel too. Lets see.

Thanks for letting me know.
I will also try with a clean install of the system without removing any bloats and check.
You also try and keep posted. If you want me to try something on this , let me know.
BTW , do you have the latest csc files for india thats ODIN flash-able ?
Also will it be an issue because of the samsung pay framework. I hrd that it need Indian framework and India spay app for successful adding of our cards.
Do you have any idea as how to bring spay India framework to this rom ?
Thank you for the input man.
I just wonder if the CSC is CPU dependent? Since I want to modify it with a CSC for HongKong, I am not sure if it matters for Exynos / Snapdragon rom.
Or would you mind help me to modify the file with Hong Kong CSC for me? thank you very much!

CSC is not dependent on processor as long as it's flashed via twrp/flashfire as a zip. But odin flashing is different.
So, which is your device? if it's SM-G935F/FD/K/L/S/W8 then use https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/utility-flashable-csc-selection-30-t3392957 TGY is in that zip.
If your's is a snapdragon, i'll help.

Hi, I just did as what was instructed.
After I have gone throught the Auroma screen, having checked No Wiping and Keep SU, ticked what to debloat,
it says finished and restarted.
1. When it was rebooting, it keep popping up com.sec.epdg has stopped, IMS Service stopped.
Is that normal or what else should I do?
2. I also noticed the modified file for India is over 500mbs, but the TGY file for Hong Kong is just 153mb.
Is everything alright about that?
3. When I try to Odin a stock G935U firmware wiping everything, it turns into Olympic Edition Theme, and I lost my IMEI , cannot detect a Sim. There is no way for me to get it working again
thank you again.

Sigh, no luck
I been using various versions of Odin and Various version of Firmware, including MM and Nougat, G935A / T/ U,
Also I tried to tick Re-Partition, Wipe NAND.
I also even tried the INDIA CSC file on the OP and the original NoNaMe Mod file.
Still, it says SIM Card Not Available, IMEI Unknown, Baseband Unknown, No Network. It used to work fine before trying the TGY CSC.

Smartswitch detected my phone but says G935A is not supported.
Finally, I approached a phonedealer in China online.
He fixed my phone remotely via Teamviewer, and he said the Certificate of Modem/Baseband was corrupted. Since the Baseband gone missing which cannot be fixed by ordinary Odin of Firmware.
I saw him used some kind of unofficial software (characters illegible to me) and got it fixed in 2 minutes, and was luckily costed me only 220RMB (around 30USD)
Well, a good lesson to learn from. There are really something not fixable by Odin and we could Eff our phone up even with the bootloader locked.
Again, it was just me requesting the OP to modify the file for me to satisfy my curiousity who happily did me a favour, there is nothing to blame with and I thank you again for all the help!
Cheers!

How to change S9/S9+ CSC (Only Same Model Number's CSC)
Hi I will tell you how to change S9/S9+ CSC simple.
You can change to the same Model Number's CSC.
You don't need a special UART Cable.
It's simple to changing using RealTerm or PuTTY with any Type-C cable.
(I recommend Samsung's bundle cable in the phone box.)
Install Smart Switch and RealTerm or PuTTY.
I will tell you using RealTerm.
And you will need SamFirm to download Stock Firmware.
1. Find Your Model's Combination File by yourself!
And Flash by Odin.
2. If your phone shows your Model Number after boot.
Run RealTerm and go to Port tab.
Set Baud to 230400 and Select Port to ssudmdm0000 or very similar name.
3. Go to Send tab.
Enter "AT" and click Send ASCII.
If you get a response like
+USB READY
BOOTING COMPLETED
AT
or
AT
or
OK
or
BOOTING COMPLETED
AT
Proceed to the next number.
If you didn't get a response click +CR and send again.
If you get a response like "ERROR" proceed to the next number.
Still if you didn't get a response check your phone status and cable status.
If everything is normal proceed to the next number.
If still you didn't get a response it mean's your phone or cable is not normal status.
4. Enter "AT+PRECONFG=1,0" and click Send ASCII.
You will get this response.
AT+PRECONFIG=1,0+PRECONFG:1,???
OK
??? is your current CSC.
5. Enter "AT+PRECONFG=2,???" and click Send ASCII.
Enter ??? you want to change to another CSC.
You will get this response.
AT+PRECONFG=2,???+PRECONFG:2,OK
OK
??? is your changed CSC.
6. Enter "AT+PRECONFG=1,0" and click Send ASCII.
You will get this response.
AT+PRECONFIG=1,0+PRECONFG:1,???
OK
??? is your changed, current CSC.
7. Flash Changed CSC's Stock Firmware.
Congratulations!
You changed CSC for free by yourself!
Special Thanks to "HD Voice"
(He finded this method even without having a S9/S9+. Just a normal Korean User LOL)

Hi applypay,
Thank you! I tried this on my S9 Exynos G960F/DS, Taiwan (BRI) stock.
However the Combination Rom must be installed first, otherwise "AT+PRECONFG" command will return nothing.
Once "AT+PRECONFG=2,???" is done, then install whatever local Rom to use, and for me it worked.

Not possible. I have CHC only phone and want to change to TGY. Only firmware available is CHC. I used to take sec_csc.zip from a totally different phone and flash, but it seems like csc are no longer flashable?
SM-W2018 used sec_csc.zip so I took tgy zip from S7 edge and flashed in stock recovery . W2019 has ODM partition, not a zip, so I don't know how to flash another phone's CSC

If you use home csc file during flashing, it shouldn't delete data. I personally use regular csc file which resets the phone. Since you are flashing a bit different firmware I would suggest you to use regular CSC file so it would wipe the device. Use Samsung backup from your phone, to back everything up, including homescreen, your settings, your apps and so on

So T-Mobile version of Note10 (regular) would be: SM-N970U and CSC(or the region code) is TMB, that is what you could type in the search fields of SamFirm

Does this looks okay from sam mobile?
Extract the firmware file you just downloaded. You should get 5 files:
AP (System &Recovery)
BL (Bootloader)
CP (Modem / Radio)
CSC_*** (Country / Region / Operator)
HOME_CSC_*** (Country / Region / Operator)
Add each file to it's respective field in Odin v3.13.3. Use CSC_*** if you want to do a clean flash or HOME_CSC_*** if you want to keep your apps and data.

If you haven't done it already. - On your phone go to settings>accounts and backup>backup and restore, then do back up
After that is done, turn off your phone. Then press and hold Vol up and down + power button. Release power when you see Samsung Note10... wording on screen. The download mode will ask you if you want to continue, use Vol up to continue
Now into Odin app, you will place each file into the corresponding spot: BL, AP, CP, CSC and USERDATA.
The last step is connect your phone to your PC and in the Odin app you will see under ID: COM(will turn blue)
Now if you are ready, start it If successful, Odin will say pass, I think

Is it the mismatch between CSC codes?
Firmware and active CSC codes are different.
Well, you have a phone from Malaysia; while the ROM is French.
You can change both.
To change ROM CSC that's simple. Grab the relevant CSC rom from Sammobile or any other firmware site and install via ODIN. (Most phones have a relevant section/guide in their XDA sub-forum.)
To change device CSC, you need tools and it may not be supported at all. I used "SamKey", you need to buy keys from the company, but it worked. On my Note 10+ it worked, on my Note 9 it worked, on my S10e it worked. On my Note 9 512GB it failed. Basically the tool has to support your specific device variant AND if you are on latest firmware you must wait because they need time to make the tool compatible.

Is it the mismatch between CSC codes?
Firmware and active CSC codes are different.

With one CSC firmware i should flash?any suggestion??
Well, I suppose you want to match the device's CSC, so I'd grab the XME one from Sammobile. And you need ODIN to flash. The whole ordeal should not affect your e-fuse/warranty/KNOX status. At least I never managed to trip mine by doing these.
But, I also used mismatch CSC firmware for months if not years at times and it didn't do a thing. Like I didn't notice any difference. I wanted to enable call recording, but I realized it only works if I change device CSC and then also flash the relevant ROM.

but if you want to relock bootloader make sure the CSC is same as the origin. Or you might brick your phone.

SamKey is a paid, third-party software.
- You have to buy credits for it to work. So you need to pay.
- It may or may NOT support your device (they do refund if it's not supported).
- You don't need to be a Hollywood hacker to use it, but if you are really unfamiliar with everything in general - I would recommend not using it.
