Fire HD8 karnak rom - Fire HD 8 and HD 10 General

Hi,
i found again my old HD8 in a box.
When i started the device, magisk asked for an update, i did. (was some lineage installed)
But the device did not boot anymore after this update.
So i flashed some lineageos between (14,15,16,17).
With every LOS i had issues connecting to my wifi.
Which OS do you recommend?
BL is unlocked, and TWRP installed.
I want to use the Tablet only for Home automisation Tablet.
Thanks

You can use lineage 18.1 it has no issues with wifi

Hi,
i tried above 18.1 rom.
Worked fine during 1-2 days.
Then suddenly the Wifi connection is disconnected, always popping up a message "Waiting for network".
Deleting the saved connection, and re-adding does not help.
The SSID is hidden. Of course i have set this in Wifi connection profile on the Tablet.
Also other Wifi SSID from neighbours are found.
Adding the tethering network from my mobile phone works.(not checked for how long -> more than x days...)
So the same effect as with previous roms i tried.
Also debugging the wifi connection logs (syslog) does not show an attempt of connection. As if the wifi name gets blacklisted on the Fire Hd.
Wifi AP are from Ubiquiti.

Termi11 it's just a guess but are you connecting to the AP via one of the 5ghz channels? The 5ghz bands were brand new when this SoC was made, so it doesn't support all of the currently approved 5ghz frequences, and even with those that it does support, the connection can be termpermental. Might I suggest renaming your SSID XYZ 5g and XYZ 2g, then connecting explicitly to the 2g SSID to ensure you use the 2.4ghz frequencies.
I also saw a commit recently which lowered the thresholds used for 5ghz AP signal strength, but I couldn't find it again. It's possible that the current build is to strict on how strong the AP signal needs to be. So a momentary drop and the AP gets blacklisted.

[Q] Wifi Connection Problems - Vegan-Tab

Need a little help. My G-tab is running current VEGAn-TAB rom. I am having problems getting the wifi to actually connect. My icon shows a good signal, and inside the wireless settings I am showing connected to my wireless network. I also went to advance settings and made sure wifi never sleeps. All apps that need internet connection (market, browser, etc.) show no data connection.
Used yesterday with no problems. My laptop is running on same network and working fine.
Any ideas?
have you restarted? Sometimes happens to me too but it's nothing a simple restart can't fix.
Yes. Restarted several times. Didn't work.
Oddly enough I have a Airave from Sprint to boost my cell phone signal, and it may have been the problem. When I unplugged it and returned to my G-Tab later the Wifi was working. Not sure why.

Could be competition on the 2.4 GHz frequencies. Some wireless phones and even microwave ovens can trash a wifi connection.

Anyone else having WiFi problems with Vegan? Since installing this mod, I can only connect to a WEP signal and not a WPA-secured network.
I can't connect either. Trying to connect to a wep wifi and it stays on "obtaining ip address from ..." but never completes the connection. Any help?

No problems with home WEP, office WPA2-PSK and several wide open public ones. I just wish the damn thing would auto-connect to the ones I have been to before.

My only guess is, if its a 5Ghz N Router you should check to see if it allows
2.4Ghz signals and not just 5Ghz. The GTAB doesn't seem to support connections at 5Ghz.
I just changed over from TNT Lite(latest version) and was able to connect fine but I didn't like the interface and some of the features. I've loaded Vegan tab 7.0.0 and I was able to connect at work (802.1 EAP) network but I can't connect to a wep wifi at home (were several other pc's are connected and working fine) and it stays on "obtaining ip address from ..." but never completes the connection. Any help?
I have a Linksys wrt300n router and have confirmed that it configured to accept 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz signal and have rebooted several times with no luck.
I don't have a lot to add to help you troubleshoot, but I can say that I am running VEGAn Gingerbread RC1 with pershoot's latest kernel. I am able to connect at home on a WAP2-PSK (Linksys Linux based G/N) at home, WAP2-PSK at the cabin (Linksys's cheapest G/N), and at work on a 802.1 EAP network (Cisco).
I has some unexplained issue mounting the internal storage on a computer. After a little head scratching, I started to wonder if it had something to do with the custom kernel I was running. I flashed Pershoot's latest kernel and my problems went away.
I mention all that to suggest that you might try flashing a different kernel and see if you get different results.
I have an issue with vegan where when i reboot the device (or turn off and turn on) wifi is off even if left on when turning off, i have to manually turn on wifi after every boot.

Have you checked to see if you're using MAC address filtering, and if so, that your gTab's MAC address has been added to the whitelist on the router? I get the feeling that that may be the issue. You have the WEP key on your device, but your router's still blocking it. I'm running the same ROM you are, and have had absolutely no troubles connecting to my work network with 802.1 PEAP, WPA/WPA2-TKIP and AES at home, and multiple makes/models of access points/routers.
Hmmm. Just reread your original. Now I'm wondering if you have enough DHCP leases available on your router. If you're out, you'll have to wait until a lease expires or add some more to your scope of addresses.
Hope some of that helped in some way...

wifi keeps disconnecting on droid maxx

i have a problem with my wifi connection. my droid maxx always keeps loosing the connection to my wlan network and have to reconnect after that. this happens every few minutes.
my wifi network is protected with wpa2 and mac filtering is off. the network strength should be strong enough. i am using my maxx in europe, could it be that it maybe has problems with the european wifi channels (in usa as i know there are only 11 or so and in europe we have 13) ?

Did the wifi lose connection while you're using the phone or everytime the screen goes off? Also a good idea to check your router dhcp lease period. Do you other devices connecting through wifi having the same issue?
I only notices this while i am using my phone and my phone is the only device with this problem. Dhcp is set to auto
What build/system version are you running?
i am on the latest stock 4.4.4
I'm guessing that is build 23.3.24 and not 21.11.21 then. Also, what brand and model number is your wireless router?
as i life in germany i am using a "speedport w921v" router. i looked at the internet and it seems that the entire 900 series has wifi issues like disconnecting between devices...
Ah, I would then either wait for a possible firmware upgrade or replace the router sadly.
You could also try disabling the 5Ghz signal (if possible) to see if that helps, or reset the router.
Check the router manufacturer page for firmware update. If its a known issue, there's probably a patch for it.

Wi-Fi Issues on MM - Original Shield Tablet

Alright, first let me say that I have had zero issues with this tablet until I upgraded to MM.
For some reason, I am having constant issues with the Wi-Fi either dropping, or changing channels. If I set the Wi-Fi to 5Ghz only, it will eventually switch over to 2.4Ghz. If I set the wireless to automatic, it will constantly switch back and forth between 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. Setting the wireless to just 2.4Ghz still results in random drops.
So far, I have experienced this issue on all of the major MM ROMs found here in the NVidia Shield section. I event restored my tablet with the latest image from NVidia.
Is this just an inherent issue with MM on the original shield tablet? Am I going to be stuck using 5.11?
The only thing I haven't done is flash back to the original stock image and do OTAs back the latest MM update.
Any help would be appreciated.
I agree, wifi on lollipop was miles better. I also think lollipop was better on the whole. I'm on stock unrooted.
Setting the "Wi-Fi frequency Band" to "5 GHz only" shouldn't drop you to 2.4 GHz. This setting works perfectly for me as setting it to "2.4/5GHz only" results in the other band completely shut off.
If your SSID is identical for 2.4GHz and 5GHz, then yes, it can switch back and forth. However since most Wi-Fi clients are too stupid to know when to switch over, it is highly recommended to use a different SSID for 2.4 and 5GHz.
On Lollipop, there is an Android bug (it affects my phone too) where if you have SSID and SSID-5G or SSID_5G (and perhaps others), even if you never joined SSID, it'll occasionally drop the 5GHz connection and connect to 2.4GHz. This is apparently fixed on Marshmallow as my LTE tablet has remained connected to 5GHz since the update.
At least for me, my WiFi experience drastically improved with Marshmallow. So my suggestion is to make sure the 2.4 and 5GHz SSID's are different and check for interference from the neighbors using an app like WiFi Analyzer or NetX. I recommend NetX over WiFi Analyzer as it can also show you WiFi SSID's that span 40MHz.
Also note that your own home devices can also cause interference. The Roku box w/ WiFi Direct is notorious for this.

Having the same SSID for different frequencies should never be a problem. As a system administrator, I have never run into an issue such as this, unless it you have your device set to "automatic" so that it can swap back and forth between the two different bands. If I set the radio to 5Ghz only, then it should stay on 5Ghz, and vice versa with 2.4Ghz.
The issue appears to be something with MM and the original shield tablet. I reconfirmed that flashing back to the LP image I have no problems with the Wi-Fi at all.
I guess I'll keep plugging away at trying various things until I get this figured out or someone else points me in the right direction.
Just got my brand new replacement tablet from Nvidia from the battery recall. came loaded with 5.11 and zero wifi issues. I updated to 6.01 and boom! wifi issues. That means I have two tablets with the same issue. Something is up with 6.01 and the original shield tablet.
Sounds like an incompatibility with your specific network setup and the SHIELD Tablet/Google Marshmallow.
I have two SHIELD LTE Tablets both running Marshmallow 6.0.1 and I have zero issues. I find the 2.4GHz/5GHz only modes work as intended. However my 2.4 and 5GHz SSID's are different, whereas you apparently have the same SSID's for both bands.
For an experiment, I created a single identical guest SSID for the 2.4 and 5GHz networks and put the tablet in 5GHz mode. What I noticed is that 5GHz only does indeed fail occasionally, but the 2.4GHz behavior is interesting. It will only pick up all SSID signals for the single 2.4GHz channel the Guest SSID is associated with, so in my case all 5GHz channels and only Channel 1 of 2.4GHz. After a few minutes of usage, the tablet seems to go back to 5GHz only mode and the Channel 1 2.4GHz SSID signals disappear. Similarly, If I put the tablet in 2.4GHz only mode, then it will also occasionally pick up the single 5GHz channel the Guest SSID is associated with, so all 2.4GHz channels and only Channel 149 of 5GHz.
If I have my tablet connected to an SSID that is different on both 2.4/5Ghz bands, then 2.4/5Ghz only modes work as intended.
So yes, I can confirm that if you have an identical SSID for 2.4 and 5GHz modes, then the 2.4/5GHz only mode will not work properly under Marshmallow. The suggested workaround is to have different 2.4/5GHz SSID's.
Here is my question. How did I go from having zero issues on every other Android OS before marshmallow, but now this is an issue? If I load an older rom based on 5.11 onto my tablet, I don't have a single issue. To me this points to an issue with MM

Yes, we've already established and confirmed that there is a Marshmallow related bug with your specific use case. I have provided a workaround, which is to create a separate SSID for the 5GHz band. You have also provided a workaround, which is to downgrade to Lollipop. It is your choice to make.
You don't sound like somebody who understands software development. Basically, with every major Android OS release, Google can significantly change the underlying code which can introduce bugs. NVIDIA then takes that code and tries to make it work with the SHIELD Tablet which can introduce even more bugs.
There is a programming joke sung to the tune of "99 Bottles of Beer":
99 little bugs in the code.
99 little bugs in the code.
Take one down, patch it around,
127 little bug in the code...

Without a secondary Marshmallow device, I cannot confirm if the problem is on Google's end or NVIDIA's end. Nevertheless, I suggest reporting it to Google and NVIDIA. At the very least, Google can fix the problem before Android N is released, and maybe NVIDIA can fix it for a future Marshmallow release.
While I am not a programmer, I work with several programmers and do testing of software on a test system before updates are pushed out. I guess I incorrectly assumed NVidia would do the same.
Now, I've tried multiple times based off of CM and AOSP, in addition to stock (all MM based) and still have this issue, so I would assume it's an issue on Google's end.

Honestly, this is an edge case that is rather difficult to diagnose and wouldn't even be detected under normal testing conditions. It's quite unfair to say NVIDIA didn't do any testing in this case.
I suggest submitting a highly detailed bug report to NVIDIA so that they can reproduce the issue. If NVIDIA fixes it and it is determined it is an issue with the base Android OS, they may submit the patch upstream to Google so hopefully it won't be an issue with future versions of Android.

Redmi 9C connected to wifi but no Internet

I just bought this phone and I'm trying to use it in my network. I use Ubiquiti products (16-port switches and a bunch of AP access points). I connected the phone via wifi to my network and it has no problem for a while until it just doesn't have Internet connection. It stays connected with its IP address intact but for some reason it cannot seem to reach the Internet. The workaround is to simply turn off the wifi module and turn it back on. It's randomly happening and the workaround is very annoying.
I have a couple of other mobile devices (iPads, iPhones, Android phones, Windows laptops, etc.) and I never experienced the issue with these. I tried connecting the Redmi 9C to all my wifi networks:
Guest wifi with captive portal
Main wifi with RADIUS authentication
IoT wifi with regular WPA2 personal authentication
I tried resetting the wifi settings of the phone. I tried reinstalling the latest MIUI fw/sw.
and the result is the same, every time. At this point, I can safely consider that there has to be something wrong with the phone. I'm not sure if it's because of the MIUI 12 update because I updated the phone to the latest firmware as soon as I got it out of the box. Is this a known issue with this phone? I have another Xiaomi phone (Mi Mix 3) on the same network without any issues.
Any ideas?

WLAN/Wifi connection issue after flashing Samsung SM-T580 with lineage 18.1 (release January 22, 2022)

Hi all
I flashed the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 SM-T580 with:
1. TWRP 3.60_9
2. LineageOS 18.1 20220122 (gtaxlwifi) -> see posts here in XDA forum
3. GApps 11 pico downloaded 20220204
I uses also Odin 3.14.4 to root the device
In summary, it works well, except one issue which I could not solve so far.
The WLAN connection can be established and it works for round an hour. Then it disconnect's and begin flipping by starting disconnection, try to connect, have a short connection and the process starts again. After reboot, deleting the saved WLAN connection, configure it new, it works for round an hour, but then it starts again with connect/disconnect.
My router is a German AVM Fritzbox 7590AX and is configured with WPA2+WPA3 and is using 2,4Ghz and 5Ghz with the same SSID. All other devices are working well. The Fritzbox is running FRITZ!OS 7.29. Also my 1750 Repeater is also running with v7.29
Any idea what the issue can be or how it can be solved?
Update1: Seems it's an issue of the configured WLAN
Fritzbox: 2,4+5GHz band and one SSID with auto-channel, WPA2+WPA3, 802.11g+n+ax(WiFi6), mesh network
I configured a Raspberry as an WiFi hotspot with
2,4GHz band, 802.11g, one dedicated channel, WPAs+CCMP and the Tablet work well over hours.
So far, it seems an issue with the network drivers in LineageOS 18.1 on the tablet. Not sure how this can solved. Several reconfiguration on the Fritzbox doesn't solve the issue and so far I need the configured setup.
Update2: Since I changed my 1750E Repeaters to 1200AX repeaters, the problem with the wifi issue seems solved. The SM-T580 works now stable in the 5GHz band. No glue why, but for me it's ok now.
