I loaded Oxygen OS 11.0.4.1.GM21AA
On my Oneplus 7 Pro.
Everything works great, even the ambient display when picked up.
What isn't working is the fingerprint unlock.
When I try to setup a finger. It shows the screen. But no fingerprint shows to set.
I did a search here and in google and nothing.
Please, if someone has seen this let me know. Thanks

Thinks for a moment... back up your data, then go into recovery by rebooting, when rebooting start pressing vol+ until you enter recovery, do a factory reset.
Wipe what-ever you can (but not your backed up data! lol)
Write here your results?

Thank you for your suggestion. But I had tried that. With the same result.
So when you re-initialized your fone, or set it up, did you set your login with a password or did it offer fingerprint login? Is this where your stuck?

It didn't give me the option to set up the fingerprint, so I setup the pin. I then go into the settings and pick fingerprint. It lets me go to the first screen. Gives me the declaration, then when I click next, the setup page is there but no fingerprint shows for the recording.
I also went into setting for ambient. And set the settings on.
Check settings (not camera settings, fone settings), then check camera permissions/access to camera, system permissions are hidden, wee box top right,
Then check for sensors in settings any form of hardware calibration to camera... that are seperate but depend on camera,
the setup page is there but no fingerprint shows for the recording.
I'm a lil lost in your above sentence:
you have a setup page, what settings are in that?
no fingerprint shows, have you set camera to front OR back camera, and placing finger on correct camera? some fones turn off front camera if you use back, and vice versa...
it'll be something stupid...
Like: have you used your fingerprint on this device (set it up previously) and been online with it before your flash?
Some fones only take one fingerprint as your origional print, and that may be stored on your cloud backup, so you wont be able to set another up, but if this is true, then there should be a method to login WITHOUT setting up the finger print again.. login your fone online to your online account using pin, and check online backups for this?
I ended up going back to the download page. Redownloaded the full OTA. Copied it to the top directory and doing a manual upgrade. Fingerprint now works!
Thanks for everyone's help.

This is for the US Cellular Galaxy S3.
Recently I had encrypted my phone and the Galaxy forced me to use a password for my lock screen, which is fine; I wouldn't expect it to allow any less secure method, but I have since unencrypted the device and still find myself unable to change my lock screen preferences. When I go into Settings>Security>Screen Lock I am prompted to confirm my password and then I am presented with the alternative screen lock options. The problem is that everything is greyed out except for the Password option. Every other screen lock method is greyed and says 'Disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage' and I can't select anything.
I just want to change back to a PIN but it won't let me
I have tried going into 'Device Administrators' to clear something out or just see what I could do in there and there are no device administrators available. Also, I have tried the 'Clear credentials' option, to no avail.
I'm running stock 4.0.4 ROM, rooted.

I had that issue before, but clearing the credentials fixed it for me. It happened after i installed a VPN. You may want to just wipe your phone and go fresh.
There's an option to encrypt the contents of your phone (under Security, I think). If that's enabled for some reason, it might force you to use the most secure option.

The phone had already been decrypted by the time I was trying to change the screen lock.
Interestingly the options came available after I decrypted the SD card that I had in the phone. The only reason I didn't do this before was because I had initially taken the SD card out of the phone thinking that would alleviate me of any restrictions that it might be causing regarding the lock screen, or anything else for that matter.

ANSWER
I had this problem on my S3 (firmware ver 4.4.2) recently when I set up a VPN connection and I was forced to change from a pattern screen lock to a 4-digit pin lock. After testing and removing the VPN connection I could not change my screen lock back to pattern because nearly all screen lock options were greyed out. After hours of calls to Verizon and Samsung I found a solution that worked for me.
Go to Settings\Application Manager.
Slide the column headings to view ALL.
Scroll down to the apps that start with S, and look for the app SECURITY POLICY UPDATES. Tap it to open its settings. Then tap CLEAR CACHE. Next tap CLEAR DATA.
Restart your device.
Go to Settings/Lock Screen and all the previously greyed out lock screen options should no longer be greyed out.
go setting === security ==> install from device storage==> press over the registered email and download
it will be fixed :good:
With latest firmware (G930FXXU1APD1-G930FDBT1APC5-DBT) Im having problems when unlocking the device with fingerprint. It does not allow me, but instead I get:
“Enter pin instead of using fingerprint recognition because of security policy”
And I have to use the PIN.
This happens when locking the display with “lock wedged”. If the lock is made with button (power) ... or time out display. Then I can normally use the fingerprint.
Does someone also facing the problem?
Is there any solution – setting?
Best.

Yes i had this and tried to reset my fingerprints when i tried that settings error and closed, then i couldnt change anything, pin, fingerprints, couldnt even factory reset. Cause it always asked for my pin and after i entered it settings would error rebooting didnt help. Finally using android device manager from my pc i had to do an erase. My s7 is stock and it had nothing disable at the time this happen.

there might be extra Policy set on ur device.
go to setting > Security > click on Clear Credentials
+ also check what is ur device administrator
:good:
I had that even on my Nexus 6P when using Nova's double tap to lock feature. I think it's something to do with Marshmallow actually.

So the error is still there.

You can try Samsung's Good Lock app from Galaxy Apps store or, if you live outside U.S., from apkmirror.com. It's a System UI update that allows fingerprint unlock with third party locking widgets.
@ avah
This actually works. But ... then I get totally different lock screen display etc... that I actually don’t like.
So ... till now ... no real solution.
Best.
Hay
Question.
Is it possible to flash the phone back to previous ROM version via Odin… and you won’t get Knox void .. or something else??
I'm thinking to go back to previous ROM when lock and fingerprint worked OK.

You can find details on that thread about this problem.
I'm having the same issue and I must say it is very annoying. Can't really see any reason why this should interfere with the security. Should be my choice to be honest. Would be nice to have a solution to this. Looks like it's been an issue for a long time as well. Found some threads about the 6P for example with the same issue.
Try use other app to pass that policy: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.luutinhit.doubletapscreenoff
When using app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.luutinhit.doubletapscreenoff please choose check box show clear view to fix this problem.

Yes but the problem still remains so it was a good initiative. I've got a brand new S7 and I find this very annoying. If I switch off my screen with Nova, I have to use fingerprint+PIN Code to unlock. If I switch it with physical buttons, I only have to use fingerprints..
Fixed
Search 4 knock on app on playstore.
Instal
Tap on create icon. Turn off the rest options
Fixed by installing a third party screen locker.

Hello,
a friend of mine has put a pattern lock on her phone today, and she has forgotten it. She doesn't have WiFi nor data on, and you can't simply drop down the notification bar and turn it on from there. I even called her in an attempt to get to the settings from the call menu, but she has some sort of touch protection enabled so you can't get to the bar either. I know we could reset the whole phone from recovery, but she has got photos and contacts there and we would like to back up them. Also USB debugging is off so it's not showing in the adb. Thanks for the effort in advance.
Didn't she have sync enabled?
No she doesn't. I think I'll factory reset it and try to recover as many photos with DigDeeper as possible.

Hi,
I just purchased an x96 box and was looking through the features when I saw the security feature for setting up a resticted profile. Since I have kids I thought it would be good to set one up, so created my password and then clicked "enter restricted profile". Not only did it restrict the apps that were availible to me, but now in the sttings tab all the buttons are gone (except for network) so I can't change any settings. As well there isn't anything for me to toggle back to normal profile. I basically am stuck in restricted profile and cant change it. When I turn on and off the box it comes back on in regular mode (all the apps), but then 5 seconds in it says "switching to restricted profile" and I cant make any changes to settings.
Anyone who can help would be a lifesaver.
Cheers

Thanks
I ended up doing a factory reset. Click on the apps button on the home page. Near the bottom is a button that says "backup......". Clicked on that and checked off delete data and delete "something" then hit restore. Good to go.
Hope that helps.

Ok so I got a x96 foolishly done the same thing. Here's how to set it again. While the power is off in the av point on the rear of the box poke a match stick in and there is a button insode. Hold it down. It will come up with options like a boot sort of setup options. I went to clear data or something along those lines and boom back to factory settings. I looked everywhere for a reset button it was only because company I purchased from advised me it was there.
Ditto! Is ther e any other option than reseting factory settings? How can i apply the original passcode I entered?
Did you get it fix?

X96 restricted profile problem
Now any new solution? When I set PIN code and apply restricted profile after that I cannot reverse normal mode, can't apply PIN code
With a factory reset ?
So did anyone work out how to get back removing restricted profile without a factory reset. It seems so counter productive...
Thanks.
Hope it works for you too.
Okay. So, I didn't see a reset button hidden anywhere, but I didn't wanna have to do that anyways. What I've found is that when you turn it off and back on, you can go back out of restricted mode. You just need to be really fast before it re-enters restricted mode again. You have about ten seconds. It's best to connect a mouse because it takes longer to scroll to the apps and options using the remote. But I did everything in time because my password was 0000. As soon as it turns back on, as quickly as possible, go to settings, >security & restrictions, then go to turn off restricted profile. Quickly enter your passcode and you're home free! After that, I'd highly recommend deleting restricted profile. Hope this works for you too!

Yours is the best idea to solve the issue. Unfortunately my GT1 is so fast, that gives me only 1 second. The same is with wired mouse. Is there any experience, if after master (pinhole) reset the Google account should get back all (Kodi reppositories, YouTube account,...) settings ?
I have exactly the same problem with my Philips 49PUS7502/12 Android TV. I even didn't set up a PIN CODE for it. I can't get out of this profile. Any solution rather than factory reset? I have many apps and customization.

Had the same issue on Android P DP3 for several days.
TL;DR: nothing helped, had to do factory reset.
Precise error was Fingerprint registration error, please try again after trying to add a new one.
I think it had something to do with that hard coded limit of five registered fingers not being property updated after removing one.
Tried everything. Deleted all remaining fingerprints, wiped device cache via recovery, cleared various app storage&cache (google play services etc.). Nothing helped.
Neat trick to find out if it is the hardware problem is to create a guest account and try to add fingerprint there.
In my case that worked so I was 100% sure that factory reset would help.
If you have the same error and adding finger for guest account works I would suggest not to delete remaining fingerprints and continue using as is while waiting for Android P release and hoping this would be fixed there.
Isn't there a procedure for deleting the fingerprint/passcode files in twrp in case you restore a backup that has security? Maybe that would be useful...

Yes I had same issues with my Oneplus 6 dp3
I had little issues with my fingerprints so I tried to remove all fingerprints in my phone and add new fingerprints and I couldn't, it says "fingerprint registration error, please try later" I wiped cache. But didn't help but when I tried it in guest account it helped. But I can't use fingerprints anymore on my main user. So I did factory reset anyway since its not a hardware problem.
The issue is when we delete our fingerprints it's not actually deleting the fingerprints from the phone. There's some issues deleting the fingerprints from the phone
I found this by using "fingerprint quick action" application in play store
There's a option "work with enrolled fingerprints only" when this option is on only your registered fingerprint will work (as per security settings in my phone no fingerprint is registered)
But when I turn on this " work with enrolled fingerprints only" the fingers I register before deleting still works and my pinky finger (never registered that fingerprint in my Oneplus 6) and when I use that finger my phone vibrates ( meaning the fingerprint is not enrolled and the quick action won't work)
So the issue is the phone can't delete the fingerprint once registered
Sorry for my bad English. Hope you understand
Just wait for the next update which is comming out really soon and don't delete the fingerprints anymore till you get your update
I too had this issue on my Oneplus 6 Android Pie stock ROM (not beta) .
I resolved this by going into safe mode and registering my fingerprint.
Hold power button
Hold power off and then select safe mode
Register your fingerprints as you normally would
Reboot as normal
Did not need to clear cache or anything else.
Further fingerprint registration will need to be done in the same manner as above.
