Hello All,
Just a quick question... can the mini apps at the bottom be changed to use other apps? I called Sammy tech support and they said I'd have to check w/Google since it's built into the ICS OS. I find this odd because I've checked other tabs at Worst (Best) Buy and they didn't have this mini-app tray.
I want to use other apps in its place. I wonder why when you view the mini apps you'll see an "edit" icon, however, when you click on it, everything is greyed out so you cannot edit or switch-out the mini-apps.
Thanks!

I believe this is a TouchWiz feature, and my understanding is that you cannot use other apps. Only the ones provided by Samsung.

I don't have it in front of me, but I believe that lets you add and remove the existing quick apps. Also, it probably isn't out of the realm of possibility that someone could develop a quick app and it would appear, but I bet there isn't a whole bunch of people building these quick apps.

+1. I think your take on this is as accurate as it can get.
Give Apex launcher a try if you dislike touchwiz. I can't stand touchwiz.

Mini Apps is built into the status bar, not the launcher. it will always be there.
Hate it...i wish i could get rid of the miniapps, sometimes it pressed accidentally and bug my gaming time
If Olny some1 develope mini app for the notes that would be great for ppl who read and like to write quick notes, If Only....
install gmd gesturecontrol to hide the status bar
You wont press any mini apps accidently then. Also when you press edit you double click on a mini app to add/remove it.
You can remove them, they annoyed me so I got rid by following the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692173
Obviously make a back-up before deleting the suggested files if you feel you may want thm back at some point (not that I did )!

Not without root. You need Galaxy labs which comes only with the s7 or custom s6 roms.

Can't you use a launcher? Surely there has got to be a dodgy launcher in the play store that mimics this awful and annoying iphone feature?
I'm looking for black themed apps specifically for like Gmail. I've come across in GB insta YouTube vanced and even face Slim. Those have been great, still looking for a decent email application with a black theme. If anyone knows the best apps to get on f-droid share them here.
I'm interested to see who considers what app to be good and why. Also there was a YouTube alternative app that allowed downloading app videos what was that app called? I'm sure someone on here will know.

I think the YouTube you're thinking of is called OG YouTube.
As for black email clients, I've been using the Samsung one. It's a little different to get used to but not bad.
Bromite, open source Chromium without Google's crap, if you care about that
Newpipe, very lightweight YouTube client with downloads and dark mode.

I have the Samsung email client set to sync Auto when received.
It's not using hardly any battery at all.
Check out YouTube Vanced - it's the regular YouTube client but with all the ads removed, has black mode, background play, and a lot more features! It's basically the way YouTube should have been designed in the first place!

i second that. youtube vanced all the way. been using it since my s8+. can't be any happier
even though download doesn't actually work for me. never seen the option even
so i use snaptube along with it
For email im using TypeApp which has a dark theme and fairly customizeable appearance and can support multiple email accounts. Its not on f-droid however so if you dont have/want to use google play store you may be able to find the APK for it online.
If you use the hex theme creator it sets gmail background to whatever you themed background colour to.

Thanks for the suggestion, how does the application work? I tried to make it work but am not sure how to get it to work. Is it like substratum?

If you personalise, setup the colours and settings you want. Then at the bottom build theme. Once that has finished, go to theme store and apply the hex theme.
Gmail, Google Photos, Play store and some others will theme.
The only issue I have found is multiple accounts in gmail I have to select the account swipe out of the app and back in every time I change account.

Interesting, I'll have a thorough look at the app hopefully it's as simple as you make it out to be. Cuz it comes packaged with two apps one being the theme selection store and then one of your own personal customisation. Also do you have to reapply the themes after every boot up? Or after every update do you have to uninstall each overlays like substratum if you wish to update?

Forget to mention that you need to turn on night mode in the hex app.
No the theme stays there all the time, when you make changes though, it seems that you have to apply the default theme then apply hex theme again.

Also I'll give this a shot and see how it goes. Hopefully it doesn't drain or consume too much battery

There seems to be more components missing and this isn't as simple to do as they make it out. I wish there was a page or resource with all the apks needed to make this app work.

There is this thread here which talks about the app but I think the thread is about theme or similar, I'm a little confused about it.

Samsung theme compiler requires sustratum lite & themes, now rootless.

I wonder if this app affects battery life at all.
Can someone please compile a list of supported themes...
I have found this

I have found so far flux NFC overlay completely disabled the quicksetting icon.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced bootloop using this.
It's happened twice with me (S10+) and I have to boot to safe mode, install default theme, clear data in Substratum Light & Synergy, then reboot.

Yes couldn't get OTA updates after flashing with dload and hstools wouldn't work, because it took Optus 5 months to release an initial update I convinced them to release my contract and renew on a different handset.

No doesn't affect battery life, I can still get a solid 9 to 10 hrs screen on time with 18 hrs standby.
Just restricted background data and put synergy substratum lite and all themes to sleep.
Working fine.
Anyone else having issues with synergy?
I go tho the play store hit open and get right back to the same screen.

In case you can't read. If I go to the play store and I'm able to hit open its because I purchased it already. If I need a smart ass answer I know who to ask thanks.
For anyone else actually trying to help or if this happens to someone else, uninstalling and reinstalling the app did the trick. ?

Hello all...
I am using Synergy and Substratum Lite for a week now. It's really good.
But, I was wondering... Is it possible to add overlays from different downloaded (form Play Store) themes, and then build one new theme with Synergy???
Is there any (simple) way to remove the nasty backgrounds on icons forced upon us with the release of Android 8?
One that does not involve editing the apk files, using a custom launcher, or Galaxy Themes.
I remember using Xposed modules on my S Advance and S5 Mini that changed icons visually, is this still a thing with Magisk?
