I've been rooting around in the recently posted Pixel 2 (XL) system images, and I've found the key to Google Lens (and any other Pixel 2-exclusive features, presumably, which ones though?), so I decided to make a flashable zip and share my success.
Achievement Unlocked: Featured on XDA
Thanks a million!
Features
- Google Lens in Google Photos (Not in the Assistant)
- Pixel-exclusive apps in the Play Store (namely, Pixel Launcher)
- Pixel-exclusive wallpaper categories (Underwater, etc.)
- You tell me
Unlimited photos?
According to @thecoolkid, photo backup settings will stay the same, and you won't get unlimited photos unless you're uploading in "high quality", which will compress them. Basically, although it claims unlimited photos, it'll just be the setting you had before.
Instructions
Really?
1. Flash the zip, and Google Lens should magically appear (I didn't even need to clear Google Photos' app data)
2. Enjoy Google Lens (Only inside Google Photos, not in the Assistant itself - more info here)!
Uninstalling Google Lens?
You can revert the functionality of this zip and effectively uninstall Google Lens by deleting the following files:
Code:
/system/etc/sysconfig/nexus.xml
/system/etc/sysconfig/pixel_2017_exclusive.xml
/system/etc/sysconfig/pixel_2017.xml
Screenshots / Screenrecording
Small example screenrecording, watch here
Magisk Module
I personally haven't tested this, but you can go check it out here. (Thanks to @Flint2)

Using Pure Fusion OS Nougat. Works flawlessly. Great work.
Thanks!
This works great straight from Google Photos, but I'm not seeing the Lens icon in standalone assistant yet. Guess I'll wait for an update to assistant.
(OP3t running Zenity nougat)
It doesn't work on latest oos beta (oreo) ...
I thought google turned off this trick from its side?

Didn't Google disable this trick server-side?

That was different, that was where you would spoof that you have a Google Pixel 2 XL. In this case, I add the actual permissions that define a Pixel 2 device:
Code:
<!-- This defines the Photos preload feature for specifically the 2017 Pixel devices. -->
com.google.android.apps.photos.PIXEL_2017_PRELOAD
<!-- This is meant to be the canonical feature identifying 2017 and newer Nexus devices. -->
com.google.android.feature.PIXEL_2017_EXPERIENCE
It also adds other canonical features identifying a Pixel device, you can check these out inside the flashable zip.
It works for me. You may need to combine the previous trick as well and pretend you have a Pixel 2 (XL) in build.prop
This zip doesn't enable Google Lens inside the Assistant itself, just inside Google Photos. I'll clarify that in OP.
All the best,
ZeevoX
Working great, thanks!

I've updated OP to state that it won't work in Assistant, since that doesn't happen even on the Pixel 2 (XL). I've also provided a link to an AndroidPolice news article about that.

Tested on Oneplus 5
Don´t forget to thanks the OP!
Awesome.
Working flawlessly on LOS 15 in Redmi Note 4 (Mido). Thanks a lot, mate. Cheers !
Working perfectly on Unofficial LOS 15 Redmi Note 3.
Working great on Nexus 6P Stock Oreo!!! Thank you!!!
It also enables the unlimited drive space with original photo size upload option again, but if it is really working I didn't find out yet.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA Labs
Thx a lot. It works beautifully.
Though can we get this without the fake google photo unlimited uploads?
..and also Google Lens recognized my N6P as a Google Pixel

Great man!
Ok thanks for the great job but I noticed that photos app now is backing up new photos in full quality, does it works against my gdrive storage or what?

hi so what im trying to do is use radeon relive without a daydream compatible phone (because my phone should be compatible with vr anyways I have the oneplus 7 pro) in other words is there anyway to bypass it detecting if u have a daydream compatible phone or not thanks for reading and any and all help will be apreciated
I'm not quite sure I understand your question correctly. Anyway, google daydream VR headset is working great with 7 pro. You'll need to install daydream enabler module v2.5 from SaveD . https://github.com/saved-j/Daydream-Enabler over magisk, and limit display to 60Hz.

So with the daydream enabler does that basically make the OnePlus 7 pro a compatible daydream device or at least trick it to think so? Because without that when u go into an app that needs a daydream compatible device it says that the device is not compatible and it doesn't let u use the app

It tricks Google play store and all apps it's Pixel XL. There's no functionality difference between how daydream software or hardware will work with 7 pro comparing to pixel XL. However, you should from time to time disable daydream enabler and restart (back in to 7 pro) otherwise you'll not receive OnePlus OS updates.
Now when Pixel 7 dosent support 32-bit apps at all it killed a lot of useful apps I use.
One of them are different Instagram modded aps with better features.
Does anyone know one that is compiled as 64 bit which works on pixel 7 Pro?

I'm looking for one too. I tried so many apps in the net but non work.
also interested.
I find it baffling that google have done this. why? why suddenly withdraw 32bit support on the p7 when its not necessary to do so. its just messing people up. I've got a vital app I use for work that is no longer in development. so never going to be 64bit.
Apparently they made the call 2019 already, official apps in playstore since early 2021 just that now is the first phone where they just force it
Can anyone explain why a pretty mundane mod of the instagram app, which is 64 bit, is 32 bit?

32bit usually creates smaller APK files, I would also assume it is easier to compile but couldn't say for sure
Edit: I also wouldn't expect an updated 64 bit version of Instander any time soon with the war in Ukraine
Aeroinsta has the same issue

The official Instagram releases are not multi-lib (32-bit + 64-bit in one apk). There are separate apks for each abi. So far, the most cross-compatible version to mod was the 32-bit version since all devices till date have supported 32-bit abi, so the mod would work any device including a small segment of devices in some regions that are still only supporting 32-bit. That's changed for the first time with the Pixel 7.

The Official Instagram is. The mods aren't because they're 32 bits (for now).

Adding the shortcut to your homescreen to this mobile version makes it kind of a PWA: it launches full screen and ads are still being blocked if you have an ad-blocker in your browser. It's the best we can get for now I guess.
On my s21 I was able to install a version of Instagram known as Instagram ++. I know there are several variants of this tweaked Instagram APK but I'm not sure which to use on my pixel 7 pro? So far there seems to be issues with Instagram++ being 32 bit... Anyone familiar with this?

I think it's more of an Android 13 thing. Anybody have their DJI Mavic drone working?
Yes, make sure you have the latest apk, older ones did not work. I am though using DJI Fly no problems with that app.
Edit:
I can confirm that the latest Go 4 is not working V4.3.52, just crashes on load, Fly did the same when google updated to android 13 on Pixel 6 Pro, but DJI provided a fix days later. I am not sure what the support is with DJI Go apps?
Edit Edit;
It is not Android 13, because I have just installed it on Pixel 4XL no problem, and opened it. So my guess is that Go 4 must be a 32bit app?

I appreciate that! However, it actually does run, but I only get about 1 frame every 5 seconds when viewing live video which also switches between black and white and color. Saw another post on the DJI forum with the same issue. Will just have to wait for some update or beta.... Thanks!
I don't know why but DJI Go 4 for Android 13 should be downloaded from DJI not from Play Store.

Doesn't it state the DJI Go 4 app will no longer support the Mavic series? I had to download DJI Fly app for my Mavic 2 Pro on my Oneplus 9 Pro and now the Pixel 7 Pro.
Yes so I asked the questions in the drone forum that I belong to and one of the users there tested this, and here is what he had to say. What is interesting to me this APK mirror one loads for me but the one downloaded directly from DJI Downloads does not.
APK Mirror suggests there is a 64 bit version.
(arm64-v8a + arm-v7a) (Android 5.0+)
Latest: 4.3.52 on September 8, 2022 GMT+0100
I haven't tried flying on my Pixel 7 Pro yet but the app itself loads and logs me in.
EDIT:- Its not all good news. Yes the app is 64 bit and yes it loads BUT the actual camera screen you get 1-2 seconds of video, then grey for 30 seconds, then 1-2 seconds of working video etc.
Telemetry, tap to focus and everything else works - you just cant see anything.
Tested the latest and older version of Go4 with same result.
Litchi works fine though.
