Hi everyone,
My phone got updated to UI 3.1, after the restart it has gone into boot loop. I am not able to enter the recovery also. Not able to turn it off, it continuously restarts after the Samsung Galaxy M31w powered by Knox screen.
I have connected the USB to the PC and tried all the combinations to enter the recovery mode.
Kindly help please.
Use the buttons to try to force a hard reset.
Otherwise, let it run down until it auto shuts down unless you can easily pull the battery.
Charge to at least 50% before trying to boot up.
Hopefully it will at least allow access to the boot menu afterwards.
That really sucks... if you're near a Samsung Experience center drag it into them.
I'm having far less issues than you with Samsung updates but the recent Wearables update trashed my bt partially. It's still fighting me even after a roll back. grrrr... it was working fine until that forced update
you might need to use a cable to enter recovery or download modes now like other Samsung phones.
the instant the screen goes black try holding volume up and power and plugging in the USB cable that's connected to something on the other end.
Did you solved the problem???

I honesty don't know how to describe my problem so I guess I will just tell you whats happening and what I know about my phone.
My phone:
Unlocked Verizon Galaxy S3 running CM for recovery, and CyanogenMod 10 for the ROM (Updated with Odin from Jelly Bean).
The issue:
1) Whenever I press the power button the phone completely shuts off. It doesn't just go to the lock screen, it turns off.
2) The phone will not always turn back on.
3) 85% of the time when it doesn't turn on, it boots into the first splash screen and turns off.
4) When I try to put the phone into download or recovery mode the first screen will pop up for about two seconds and then the phone will turn off again. The phone will either shut down on the cancel/download screen for download mode or the first splash screen with the blue text at the top for recovery mode.
5) The other 15% of the time it will reach the CyanogenMod screen, freeze, then shut off.
6) When I put it on the charger, the stock charging icon pops up but then the phone stops charging and shuts off. (It will charge correctly some times)
These things don't just happen if I press the power button. I used a custom app to turn the phone off without the power button and the problems still occurred.
Things I've tried:
1) Replacing the battery.
2) Switching chargers.
3) Leaving the phone on the charger for a while.
4) Taking the battery out for extended amounts of time.
5) Just leaving the phone alone for a while.
No, the power button isn't stuck... I don't think it is
I am aware that the motherboard might need replaced. However, most of the cases I read about involved the phone not turning on/charging at all. If I could get the phone into recovery mode I would clear the cache and see if that worked, if not I would just factory reset the phone. If I could get into download mode, I would flash a stock firmware and be done with it.
This is my second android phone and I've never had this problem before. I did my experimenting with my old Motorola Droid so I could make sure I knew what was safe with my S3 but apparently there is something wrong.
I greatly appreciate any and all help and please do help me
[EDIT #1]
I began hitting the power button against a hard surface and 1 out of 7 times it works. Perhaps the button is stuck.
[EDIT #2]
I am now able to press the power button without the phone turning off. I will still make a back up and sync all of my important media and prepare to have to factory reset and flash a new ROM.
Can someone please tell me if my Sprint Galaxy S3 is soft-bricked, hard-bricked, needs a new motherboard, or just needs a new screen / digitizer? Here are the symptoms:
The battery is fully charged. I tested it in another Galaxy S3.
It stopped working right after I restored CM11 via TWRP. It died upon reboot.
The phone doesn’t turn on when the power button is held down.
The phone doesn’t vibrate when the power button is held down.
The phone doesn't make any sounds.
The phone cannot get into ODIN Download mode.
ODIN cannot detect the phone.
The phone cannot get into Recovery Mode.
The screen stays black no matter what I do.
When connected to my PC via USB cable it does the following:
• My PC will make a sound when I hold down the power button for a few seconds.
• If I take out the battery while it is connected to my PC, the red light will come on.
I have tried the following:
• Taking out the battery and holding down the power button for one minute.
• Making my own boot card by using my microSD card.
• Making my own boot card by using my USB flash drive.
• I have ordered a debricker device from eBay and I am waiting for it to arrive.
• I haven’t tried JTAG.

Fairly sure from what you have told us that it is a proper device brick !
This happened to me before and it is VERY annoying expecially seen as though there is no real way out of it !
The only suggestion i would of had is to boot into the download mode but you have already tried that ! Hopefully the debricking jig will work for you !

Sadly, it didn't work.
I was flashing new nougat king's rom for the s7 edge, however I forgot to untick autoreboot, and ofc, I got phone stuck in a bootloop....
I tried plugging it in, but PC doesn't recognize it at all, nothing like I didn't plug anything in, and OFC it doesn't show up in odin, that is the main problem.
Also I tried to force restart and enter recovery or download mode, nothing is possible, I restart with power+vol down, and when I switch buttons to power+home+ vol up (or down depends what I try to enter) nothing happens. I thought my timing may be a bit off, but I even used a stopwatch to know when it will restart and switch to another combination faster. I tried that many many times.... I saw somebody succeed here, but not me, should I let go of all buttons before pressing another combination? (I tried both anyways, but I am gonna keep trying)
Also my previous rom was note 7 rom, and I got a note saying that they will disable charging of my phone for last few days. I don't know how they are doing it, over OTA update or what?
Phone is Always on now showing "Samsung Galaxy s7 edge powered by android" i can only restart it, I don't know if I should let battery drain and phone turn off, because if I could turn it off, I am sure I would be able to enter recovery or download mode, but I don't know if it will charge when battery is empty, because of that "update" samsung is trying to push to note 7 phones.
Sry for the length, but I stated most things this way, pls help, thanks!!!!
OFC I forgot something, when I plug it in the wall, I don't think it is charging, no led light showing that it is

Forced close mode
Vol up and Vol down and Power
Then use Samsung Jig to force Download mode
Hi,
I own an S22 ultra Exyonos 128gb and i'm having severe issues.
I was using the device (chrome) and it suddenly froze, and powered off. I powered back on, and it almost immediately powered off again. Since then ive been unable to power on.
I've tried force restarting, plugging into a PC with a usb-c cable and holding down volume up and power for 5-10 secs, but nothing happens. The phone simply gets stuck on the Samsung logo screen, sometimes the basic "Samsung" screen, and sometimes the "Samsung S22 ultra 5g secured by knox" screen.
Also when trying to charge with a cable, no animation to show charging pops up, ive not tried wireless charging yet.
Any idea how I can boot into recovery mode
If vol up + power doesnt work?
Thanks in advance
Can you boot into download mode (cable unplugged and device off press Vol Up and Down together and plug in cable) ? What is the screen showing after you agree to enter download mode ?
Is your device rooted or else modified in any way ? Did you do anything special prior to this behaviour ?
Hi s3axel,
thanks for replying.
yes, I can access download mode, it comes up with a Warning page saying "A custom OS can cause critical problems in phone and installed application. if you want to download a custom OS, press the volume up key"
No, the phone isn't rooted.
Nothing out of the ordinary was being done, I was just on google chrome browsing Reddit, when all of a sudden it froze, wouldn't respond to touch or power/wake button presses, and then crashed, and hasn't been able to boot u since.
I did have issues with the phone previously randomly crashing and then restarting and thought it could be malware. I booted into safe mode to see if it occurred again and if so an app could be the cause, but it didn't. I then booted normally and ran a virus scan with Samsungs in-built anti-virus software and then again with Malwarebytes, but nothing was found. it happened a few more times before stopping after a software update, so I thought nothing more of the issue until now.
A few weeks after switching from my old S7 Edge to my old S8 (which I did about a month ago), I tried turning on my S7 Edge only for it to enter recovery mode. Since the power button is broken, I figured I would have to reboot it out of recovery mode using ADB on my PC. When I switched my S7 on again the next day to enter recovery mode and connect it to my PC, I got to the "installing updates" screen that precedes recovery mode. This screen showed up for about three seconds before my screen went black. After 10 seconds my phone rebooted and went back to the "installing updates" screen, went black, rebooted, and so on.
I think my phone might be out of battery so when it charges a little bit, it automatically tries to enter recovery mode, which uses up all the power in the battery and causes it to die, restarting the cycle. Is there any way I can stop my phone from automatically turning on when it is plugged in so that it can charge enough to actually make it to recovery mode?
Thanks!
For some reason, the bootloader on this device remembers if you were last booted into recovery, and will return to it on the next poweron, so - without a working power button - there aren't very many options.
The power button could be an easy fix - depending on if it's stuck or damaged. The outer parts of the volume and power buttons on this device are interchangable, so that could make all boot modes possible again. Opening your device may sound scary, but - with good research and some patience - you will find it is certainly doable using basic tools. And if you don't want to do it yourself, a local repair shop would probably do it for cheap as well.
As far is I know, there isn't any usable software fix without a working power button.
