Question LTE Model will work abroad if I bought it from specific country? - Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

Hey guys, recently went to the states and I was really interested on bringing in a GW4 LTE Model, since where I live they don’t sell this model.
My worrie here is if I’ll be able to activate local carrier plans even if the watch is an USA Model.

My local carried does not support it so I purchased data plan from Dentwireless (1GB for 365 days) which I see it is more than enough for the watch. Everything is working perfectly, the only thing I cannot do is call via LTE if watch is not connected to mobile. Everything else I can do remotely via LTE without the phone nearby (like messages, replies to messenger, browsing internet, etc,....)

Did you ever manage to get the LTE version working in the UK? Would also be interested to know where you got it from as I can't find an LTE for sale anywhere.
Connection the European SIM

I am interested in that too because i am struggeling with the same issue. The watch I have is an unlocked Korean version with a Tk telecom branding.
Maybe there is a complete neutral firmware for the LTE, that allows the connections of an ESIM via Gear App, as it was allowed with the Gear S2?
GrandMasterPlank. Not really tried yet, to get it working. Got it off Ebay, the same as Pixmixa the Tk telecom branded one. Think it will work has the same radio's as the Gear S2, that O2 were selling for a short time last year. But do not know if any mobile network will connect it, and how helpful they would be. Got this one because it has the possibility to connect to the mobile phone network, not sure if it ever will. But a least it can make an emergency call if i need to, not tried but said I can.
UK networks don't support esims at the moment so I doubt you'll get it to work

How did the scan of the sim card worked? Did it work in the UK or which country? Which carrier(s)? Thanks

Vodafone Germany still offers the previous S2 and shows how the activtion process works. Here you can see:
vodafone.de/hilfe/samsung/gear-s2.html#so-aktivieren-sie-das-esim-profil-fuer-die-samsung-gear-s2-classic-3g-smartwatch
(Please fullfilll the beginning of the URL, I am not allowed to post Links.)
Unfortunately, the app does not offer the menu for the S3 But its at least just a software issue, isnt it?
Pixmixa I have seen the same video, somewhere online, in english. Here is my best guess what appends the Usim/esim need to be registered on the mobile network. When you turn the S3 on it looks for a uk ICCID which is listed under Gear info/About device the first bit 898205 is for the country eg it is set for Korea. This need to be changed, which might be possible as the is a small slot at the bottom of the watch. Looks like a micro usb connection, which i have read on XDA developer is used to reprogram the esim. esims must work in the UK because the Gear S2 was being sold by O2, and i spoke to someone at O2, who phoned someone he worked with who a bought the (o2.co.uk/shop/smartwatches/samsung/gear-s2-classic-3g/). Got a QR code with it and was using it to make and receive calls.

Thank you, that is very interesting information. And you are right, there is a small docking port hidden under a plastic cap close to the wrist at the S3 too. Do you have any further information concering the reprogramming process? Maybe the process for S2 and S3 ist the same and someone who can do it for S2 can do it fo the S3 as well.
Is the docking port a micro usb connection? Not taken the plug out on mine. I was hope some Xda expert would know how to reprogram the esim.

No it is not. The watchside looks like something special. See this thread:

Does remind me of my connection on the gear S. Which if I remember correctly you can connect via USB to your computer.

Is Anyone Ordering (or Pre-ordering) a U.S. Ver. XZ Premium???

I'm curious to know if anyone here is going to purchase the U.S. version of the phone and use it on T-Mobile or AT&T. Current pre-order sites are Amazon and Best Buy.
I currently have HTC U11 but have always been a Xperia fan and I'm really liking what Sony is offering in the XZ Premium so on a whim I decided to pre-order the phone.
I have T-Mobile for service so I'll be trying it out on that. My concerns are no VOLTE and no WIFI calling. I've been testing my LG V20 for the last week with VOLTE and WIFI calling turned off and it hasn't been an issue or bothered me at all so I think that I'm good there. Another thing is that it's missing the software for fingerprint sensor. I can live without the fingerprint sensor so it's really a non-issue to me but I understand that it bothers others.
Let me and others know what you think about it. Have you pre-ordered or will you order it? Would you use it on AT&T or T-Mobile?
Thanks!
UPDATED: So it appears that the phone I pre-ordered from Best Buy has the model# 8142. This is the same model number for the UK phones per the info from https://www.techwalls.com/sony-xperia-xz-premium-g8141-g8142-model-number-differences/. If this is the case then I guess that I am getting the international UK model, just from Best Buy. The phone listed on US Amazon doesn't have a model number so I'll have to say that it's unknown until someone orders it and can update me. Per that website there is a G8141 but I don't know who is selling it in the US.
Hi - I've ordered from Unlocked-mobiles.com (UK). Its ~100$ lesser + Bluetooth speaker ($150 in BestBuy) not to forget the Sony international warranty. Also you don't need to flash anything since the FP scanner works out of the box. I am using with Tmobile and haven't noticed any issues so far. Several in the US have got it from UK as per the other threads in this forum

Thanks for the input. I guess that a big deal for many is the cost difference between a UK version and a US version and that alone may drive them to opt for the UK version. It's too bad that I'm not too keen on purchasing a phone from UK and bringing to US. I'd rather purchase the US version from Best Buy and include the accidental damage plan to have that extra coverage as well. As a note I haven't owned a Sony phone since the Z3 from T Mobile and believe me I'm pissed that T-Mobile hasn't had a Sony phone since.
If the phones are identical (I think that's the case) then I could flash the UK firmware onto it and use as normal until (if) a warranty claim is needed then I can flash US firmware and off it goes. :good:
I'm interested in purchasing this phone at Best Buy as well and using it on the T-Mobile network. For those that have purchased and on T-Mobile, does the Wi-Fi Calling feature work? I love that it has dual sim capability for when I travel abroad, but I do use Wi-Fi calling just as much. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

The unfortunate answer to that question is a definitive NO. Something about the fact that Sony doesn't have the device certified by T Mobile is what I heard. Same goes for the VoLTE.
I still use it on TMO though.

If it's a esim model it will only work on T-Mobile. You can use the watch on bluetooth and works nearly the same. But never no service. I use a AT&T and Verizon watch bluetooth only.

Where I live we have no 3g networks. We are still on the GSM network so it's not an issue I think

Question GW4 on Tmobile -> Tmobile tech says LTE can't be activated

Long story short, I had Note 9/GW2A, upgraded to S22 ultra/GW4 classic; Tmobile says the GW4 can't be activated because it isn't compatible. I told them to try different plans, try the standalone plan - they never confirmed if they did try any of those. They just said it isn't recognized on their network and I had to return it to Samsung and buy in the store. I told them it is the EXACT same hardware that if it's a firmware issue, they need to provide me the firmware. Samsung confirmed it is the same hardware. Their IT is "looking" into it now; response in 48-72 hours.
Has anybody else here had the same issue? I've read on reddit some solutions, namely it goes down to the plan they are trying to activate, but yes, also GW4 only works with Samsung phones, not an issue here obviously.
?
Model name?
Example...
SM-R875F
or SM-R875UUUUU
Or you are have SM-R875N
Or ?
Best Regards
I bought my watch (SM-R895U) at best buy and had absolutely no issues activating with T-Mobile

I bought mine on Amazon and activating with T-Mobile was easy. I activated the LTE through the wear app and I am using the original Asus ROG phone.
I have a GW4 and I'm on TMobile. LTE definitely works

Question Using an Indian bought S22 Ultra in the UK

Hi all! Hope you're well and safe.
I'm moving to the UK soon and bought a S22 Ultra a couple of days ago. Did not find out about Samsung's inexplicable and baffling region locks on the phones and certain features (Samsung Pay, etc.) before I bought the phone. Consequently, I've been researching on all issues I think I could face once I move to the UK later this month. Had a few questions about the same, so thought I'd reach out for help here.
a) I understand that Samsung Pay will not be available in the UK on my Indian S22, due to the region lock. Is this correct? To clarify, I don't intend to change the CSC if I'll only be losing Samsung Pay, as I'm sure Google Pay will be sufficient.
b) I understand that UK S22s are Exynos-based and not Snapdragon-based. Therefore, am I correct in assuming that I will be unable to flash UK firmware on my device, due to the SoCs being different?
c) I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. I tried installing Google Pay on my watch, but was unable to find the app on the Play Store. Further reading led me to Google Pay's website, which states that Google Pay for Wear OS is only available in select countries, including the UK, with India not being included. Would I be correct in assuming that once I change the country on my Google account, I will have access to the app on my watch? Also, would the watch automatically have access to apps in the UK once my Google account's country is changed?
d) I understand that the international version of the S22 Ultra (which I believe is the model I'm using) will have no problems connecting to 5G networks in the UK, since most networks in the UK use band 78. Can anyone who's travelled to the UK confirm if they've been able to successfully access 5G networks in the UK on their Indian S22s?
Thank you for taking the time to read this post. Grateful for any help I can get!
Cheers!
If your device is SM-S980E which I belive is the Indian & International model , then it will support 5G in UK for sure. Both the European devices & the International ddevices support the same 5G bands , they used to be the same version before.
Samsung pay should work But you won't get Uk exclusive offers
Google pay will work once you travel to UK
Hi OP. I am moving to UK too in a fortnight. Were you able to change the country code?
a b c yes
d likely because Indian (E model) and UK (B model) have same 4G/5G bands.
