Was prompted to install this app. Not even clear to me what it does that Samsung Health doesn't do, but one thing I do know - it drains battery like crazy - as much or more than the display, and it was killing my watch in under a day. Uninstalled, and battery life is back to normal.
Are you referring to this app?

I have never been prompted to install this. Good to know so if I am I wont install. Did it prompt you on watch?

Now I remember where I got the prompt (as I just got it again) - within Samsung Health. Shows up as a pop-up to sync data between apps, which then refers you to the Health Platform app.

How did people uninstall health platform ? I only see an option to remove the updates. I'm seeing wicked battery drain on my GW4 too.

Are you sure you're referring to the same app - Health Platform, not Samsung Health or Samsung Health Monitor?
Yes, definitely health platform.

I wouldn't remove it unless you know exactly what it does.
Try clearing its data and clearing the system cache.
In Device Care (or whatever it's called on your device) clear system logs and turn off all power management.

Strange - for me, that was an optional download, and so completely uninstalled. Where did you try uninstalling it from, the app drawer? Maybe try disabling it if you can't uninstall it?

Yeah, I was prompted to install it last week (week before?) I'd been looking in Play Store for uninstall but ended up disabling in Settings > Apps and it doesn't appear these any more. I'll reboot the watch and see how I get on (I've got a Samsung phone FWIW, not sure if that's affecting things)
I dont really remember installing this app but had extremely bad battery drain the last few days, which brought me to this thread. When I followed the link to the app store I had the option to uninstall updates only yet the app doesn't show up anywhere on the phone.

If it has a "parent" app you may need to uninstall that to uninstall your problem app.

I've seen Samsung daisy chain their apps together like this with Wearables.
They show as 2 separate apps but install/uninstall as one

Possibly as I have everything and the kitchen sink syncing. Only after the latest SH update did things get squirrelly as fast as syncing. But I've managed to get it back and a lot of things sync to SH without using their app, I e. Yunmai my smart scale used to sync with the app, but now won't pair with my phone through the app, but sync weight and BMI directly to SH. Go figure...

How can I prevent apps from starting back up. Its killing my battery life.

Get os monitor and check how much mem they use. If u see one that is always over 20%, uninstall it.
Also u can stop ur running services.

What BW said. Don't worry about them in there unless you find one using up too much battery/resources. They won't drain your battery unless it's a bad app.

You could try unistalling your task killer and getting Advanced Task Killer (it's the one I personnaly use). Now killing a app won't stop it from restarting, you usually fix that in your running services. Also make sure that these apps arent widgets - in that case they will always restart

Actually, its Advanced Task Killer that I have installed. Yes, I totally understand apps vs. services. I'm stopping the services for the apps that have restarted, yet they continue to restart after the service has been killed. These apps are definitely not widgets.

Umm, may I ask what are these apps?
The only app that takes couple tries for me to stop if the facebook one. Also, some app are made to constinusly refresh and get info from the internet. If that's the case with your apps, block their internet connection or change their settings to have it refresh manually.
Also, you can tell some apps not to start on boot up - that might temporaly fix your problem.

I duno about colornote but as for the others, they automaticly refresh using the internet and so like I said in my other post, you have to set it so the either can't access the internet (might as well unistall them in that case) or set their refresh to manual so it only refreshes when you "tap" on them.
Google maps refreshes for your location. That one will be a pain especially if you have the gps on.
If you get over a day of battery life with moderate usage and that you like these app, then I'd say to just live with it. If it's not the case, I suggest getting rid of them but if OS Monitor doesn't show them using your mem/battery, then they don't actually do/change much.

once on the app, hit your menu button (bottom left one ) and you should have a setting option - each app will be different but it mostly comes to the same thing. Also if you don't have any menu option, there should be a (i) kind of image/icon somewhere in the main app page but these are rare. Most app will have their setting menu.
Thanks. I'll try it and see what happens.

Glad I could help
For the first time in 6 years of Android phones, I just had an ad pop up in my notifications. It was for the Walgreens drug store app. (An app I do not have installed.)
From googling, it seems it's pushed from an app I have installed, but it should be easy to figure out as I've only installed 2 new apps on this phone that I didn't have on my last phone.
Has anyone else experienced this? What apps have you found that do this?
(This is not cool at all.)

Do as guyd says. If it happens again with another app and the notification is still there, hold it until it changes, then press the "i" button that appears. From there you can do the same.
Note that you cannot block notifications from most system apps

A typo in my original post must have made it unclear - the ad was for an app that is not installed. I have no idea what app is pushing the ad.

Regardless, if you hold down on the notification it should show you the source app (not the app that is in the ad, but the app that's pushing the ad) and you'll be able to take action by tapping on the "i" button.

The ads come from other apps. Chrome has never placed ads in the notifications. This is done by something built into the apps. I forget what it's called of the bat. Airpush I think. Some apps do this to make money when they are free apps. There is an app that will detect any app that does this. Then just uninstall it. The above device will cancel notifications completely from the app causing it.
Had the exact same experience on both my S6 and my wife's. Something fishy, no indication what app caused it.
What carrier are you on? I am on Sprint, and their bloatware apps "Sprint Zone" and "Sprint Fun & Games" like to advertise apps in the notification bar every now and then. I hate it, because there is no way to disable the apps unless I root.

Sprint as well. That's unfortunate as this will be my first non-rooted phone due to Samsung Pay. I was hoping android/Sumsung had come far enough that I didn't need to root/rom, but it looks like I'm in for a frustrating experience.

I think maybe so. I took a screenshot of one today. (I don't know how many have some through as I often just swipe off notifications without looking at them. This was at least the second one today, as right after I swiped one of them away, I decided to make a conscious effort to screenshot the next.) I forgot to press/hold until the "i" shows up to see app info. I'll have to remember that for next time.
Sprint - Featured Apps <-- That's the culprit. You'll want to disable notifications on that application in the settings menu, under all apps, or uninstall it, which is what I did.

Thanks. Also, mine showed the option for uninstall, and it seems to have done so. I wouldn't be surprised it if auto-reinstalls, though. Hopefully this works. THANKS!
Its from Sprint Featured Apps. Block its notifications. It can also be uninstalled from Applications>all>uninstall.
I had that same thing happen with my samsjng galaxy s6 from Sprint. Its infuriating adware bloatware.
Has anyone been able to prevent bloatware apps from running in the background on 7.1? Specifically, the built-in Facebook and Messenger apps are sucking power and I want them to die in a fire.
I've tried:
1) TitaniumBackup "Freeze"ing
2) Battery Settings->Close Apps After Screen Lock
3) BackgroundRestrictor
But inevitably those zombie apps rise up again within a couple hours to appear on the "apps using power in background" list.
Please help me kill them and bury them in the desert where their bodies will never be found...

L04, running B360. I think that's the first Nougat version, they may have changed the stock apps in later releases that I haven't installed yet.
Make sure neither app is listed as an administrator in security settings. They shouldn't be but that would prevent you from disabling them.
Uninstall the apps and install again from Play store.
That worked for me.

Be aware that without root you cannot remove them. All you can do is disable them. If you want an easier route, try ADB AppControl. It is Windows based and will allow you to connect to the watch via WiFi and disable any app you want on the watch.

No, it is a Windows app that allows you to add, remove or hide apps on your watch of phone. It also allows you to do a lot of other functions without having root. You can check it out here:

You can disable the apps a few at a time to make sure you have no issues. Once you have the ones disabled that you want disabled, the battery life should get better. Also, Android in general will get better after the first week of use.
I'm looking to transformmy gw4 to close to pixel watch style and want to get rid of any samsung ux apps.
So i would like uninstall/disable any samsung ux apps and services that eat battery for no reason and not break any services (steps, heartrate etc.
Not uninstall but preferably disable (correct me if i'm wrong, but after uninstalling system apps using adb can these be installed again if i want to go back to stock by factory reset?)

No it's absolutely safe to uninstall bloatware as factory image can't be modified without root.
Calling pm uninstall --user 0 [package] should uninstall for current user eg. on a different partition which was setup during device initial setup.
Also it's safe to execute pm delete-dexopt [package] it order to remove files after the app optimization process on first start.
Next week I'll try to create a list of app safe to uninstall.
P.S. Oh, meanwhile could you try to take a look at the installed system apps list
