TWRP 3.5.2 supports backup/restore. Does anyone use this feature?
I plan to upgrade stock ROM from android 10 to android 11 and there are some complains about android 11. It would be nice to know if it is easy to switch between android 10 and android 11 using TWRP.

If you use Xiaomi cloud, calls, sms, mms, call recording will be saved.
You can use Miphone assistant for the same thing (backing up some apps with data, themes, etc., don't back up the launcher elements because of 10 to 11).
For apps, use an apps like Titanium or others.
With Twrp, the backup is not 100% reliable, especially with the switch from Android 10 to 11.

Thanks! That is what I do now. Miflash stock ROM, recover messages from Xiaomi cloud, and restore app/data using Titanium Backup.

Sony phones in settings in storage have option to clear cache for all apps. Why is it missing in our phones? Or am i missing something?
Sent from OnePlus 7 Pro, OxygenOS 10.0.3, TWRP 3.3.1-75, Magisk 20.3, EdXposed 0.4.6.1 (build 4513), Modded Play Store 16.5.15, android core.java patched and SafetyNet pass OK
It's a good question. We ought to have an option to clear cache AND data for all or selected apps in a batch mode.
Currently I just use Titanium Backup to do this but shouldn't have to rely on a 3rd-party app. OOS is decked out enough that we should reasonably expect this functionality to already be a part of the OS or baked in in future updates.
Also using Titanium, but would be if in Settings...
i know this is not hte place for this so i may get in to a bit of troubles but does titanium backup backup wifi and restore apps ok for you guys on your op7 pro? i havent been able to restore apps or backup wifi profiles since android 10 and it appears there is no support for titanium or at least they will not respond.
Hey everyone,
I've been using Titanium backup for a few weeks now but one thing irks me about it.. even though it successfully backs up my apps and I assume my data - when it comes to restoring the backup, it always re-installs the apps in a broken state.
After restoration is complete, about 1/3rd of my apps have to be re-installed. When I tap on an app, it crashes soon as it opens.
I'm currently trying out Migrate - but TWRP throws an error 7 when attempting to restore the backed up ZIP that Migrate created.
Swift I read is awesome, unfortunately it's a google focused app, and this device is degoogled for privacy and security reasons.
Any free options to replace Titanium Backup?

Okay, I figured Migrate was a good choice. I'll spend some time troubleshooting Error 7.

After using Titanium Backup Pro for years, I've pretty much switched over to Swift Backup. I just use it locally without any cloud backup. Not sure how it would react without Gapps. However since you have microg I would assume it should work.

Titanium stopped working nicely for me too. I just use it to freeze apps and small stuff.
Migrate works good.

OandbackupX is a great choice. It's what I use.
For TB, i noticed it hangs on restoring of apps. But if i install app via PlayStore or manually via APK and then restore app data in TB it works as promised.

That's because TB can't handle split apks.
swift backup is recommended and i can restore without any issue with it

You mean, its developer is too lazy to work that out. He's been promising for years, because some people paid for his Pro version, but he's not been doing much. Maybe he died from CoViD.

As far as i know, latest release of TB dates back to 2019, even before Covid widespread.
Maybe the author is not interested in developing TB anymore for some reason.

Swift is the best. Latest version only.
I had the same problem when I switched form my S9+ running Android 9 to my new S20 Ultra running Android.
Almost all apps crashed after restore.
I got the tip to try "Swift Backup" and I must say it works perfectly. You can choose to backup your apps and data locally or on google drive or something similar. If you backup your apps in the cloud you can easily access those backups from another phone and restore them
The only problem with Swift Backup is that backed up data is encrypted and you can't decrypt it on your own.
Hello everyone, hope I will find the answers as I properly did my research and did not find as much info as i wanted.
So, long short story, 2 devices, Pixel 3, bot with root access and custom roms, my question is: Can I backup entirely one rom from another (containing the google pay and google apps) and restore it on the other device, will cards work? From my knowledge, for example, some data is encrypter/stored in some places or some way that an app like Titanium Backup would not restore it totally so, would a total backup and restore from one phone to another work?
Thanks!

Definitely not possible with Titanium Backup. TB has not been updated since 2019, and restore on recent Android versions does not work properly. I use Swift Backup, and have used it to move apps from one phone to another (the phones both had the same ROM). You might have problems if you have different ROMs on the two phones. I don't use Google Pay, so can't comment on it. I didn't have a problem with the apps I did restore.
Update: it works using twrp (backup and restore only /data)

What Android version are you on? I thought TWRP did not work on Pixel 3 Android 11. If you have TWRP that works on 11, where can I get it?

Hi, I'm on version 10, only twrp and magisk (keeping as simple and debloated as possible)
Have just upgraded a 7 Pro from OOS 11 to Paranoid Android 12 and had a rough experience trying to restore apps/data. Getting ready to help a friend do the same for another 7 Pro.
It doesn't seem like Clone Phone can do local backup/restore and I can see some noticeable differences in the backup/restore functionality between what is available on OOS 11 and PA 12. Are there any recommended (non-root and non-TWRP for that matter) options to backup and restore non-system apps and data for this type of ROM upgrade?
I've seen many websites and many videos on how to root my phone. However, I can't seem to find anything that I would trust. I would like to keep all my data, would prefer to not wipe it. Would you be able to help me through this? My model is SM-G996B/DS with android 12 and one ui 4.1 bought in The Netherlands. I also want to know, if I would actually have to wipe all data, would I be able to use my back up and have all my data back while keeping my phone rooted?
You will need to unlock the bootloader first before rooting and that will trigger a factory data reset.
But there's a few ways you can backup your data first, Samsung's Smart Switch, Google backup and Swift Backup are probably the most reliable of the bunch.
I mostly use Swift Backup as it saves my wifi passwords, text messages, apps etc even my wallpaper background!
Swift Backup now supports Android 12 and rootless batch backups via Shizuku

It doesn't seem to save my photos though, so i save them to my PC first or use Google photo backup.
Magisk patched AP file is probably the safest way to root.

Thank you for your answer. If I then back up everything and wipe up the phone, would I be able to restore my data, all my apps and all into my phone after being rooted? Won't for example smart switch or swift backup say that my phone is rooted and deny to restore my data, or even having a problem while doing that? Or would I have to install everything again and all that?
I wouldn't do a restore until everything has successfully flashed. Unlocking the bootloader, installing TWRP and rooting with Magisk will all trigger data resets. No problems with swift backup and root.
