Went on a trip the other day and was disappointed to see that the Sprint Variant of the SGS5 did not have a Driving Mode or Car Mode that was detectable by S Voice. "This device does not support this feature." is the only response I would receive. My S3 and my mother's S4 both retain this functionality. Just curious if anyone has a way to restore this feature or a good alternative.
Thanks

I don't know why it does that. I get the same error message. But in the quick toggles it shows up.

It works from the toggle for me. Note: I just rooted today and this was working before root.

I think it may have something to do with agreeing to the terms and conditions of S Voice?

So I was able to trigger Car Mode via Tasker but it isn't quite the same. It does not read text messages or anything like that. Anyone have any other suggestions? I'd be willing to use a thrid party app as well. Kinda upsetting to have a new car with BT and not be able to read and respond to texts through it.
Hi,
I'm wondering if someone else is having that issue:
I have my phone set up on a wireless charger and it's charging as I know that "Ok Google" only works when the phone is charging.
Also I've set up Google Assistant to launch when saying "Ok Google" and it works fine when the phone is awake.
When the phone is at the Always on Display however and I say "Ok Google" it ends up vibrating, showing a bubble for a new notification, the screen edges are "glowing" as if it's listening but if I say something nothing happens.
As soon as I then wake the phone it executes the command immediatly.
In some very rare cases it seems to work and Google seems to respond directly but it's not waking the phone and stays at the Always on Display.
And in some cases it's not even reacting to "Ok Google" at all.
Any idea what might cause this?
Is this a bug?
Try this-
I'm guessing you have a lock screen set up? Try turning on Trusted Voice in the voice settings for assistant, or delete and retrain the voice model if it's already on. If that doesn't work try disabling the lock screen entirely and see how it does.
:good:
Thanks. However that's not the problem. I turned off the lock screen completly and just used swipe to unlock and it still is the same.
The always on display is not turned off with "ok google" when it does respond and often it doesn't respond at all.
It also doesn't make the sound that it's listening when the AOD is on.
If you're lucky it responds, if not it will most of the time respond once you activate the display.
Feels very strange and buggy.
EDIT: I found out what the problem seems to be!
I have enabled "Edge Lighting" (Settings → Display → Edge screen) which makes the edge glow when a new notification arrives. However that also seems to prevent the screen from turning on when saying "ok google"! Once I disabled Edge lighting it works as expected! As you can disable edge lighting per App I disabled it for the Google app and now everything is fine again!
Thank you so much! Edge lighting really was the problem for me too!

I think they are talking about ok Google working with screen off but charging....
It works if charger is connected but not without the charger connected.
This has been a problem with Touchwiz.

Unfortunately that doesn't work =( Why does samsung have to make everything so difficult?
Yeah I can't get mine to work even when charging. Now if I got the power button or the home button to go from AOD to lock screen it will work, but not with the screen off or on AOD even when plugged in and charging. None of these suggestions have worked for me. US Unlocked version on latest stock OS.

Nope neither one neither of these worked. It still doesn't work from AOD or screen off, even when actively charging.
And how is this a Google issue, when it works perfectly on all other Android devices??
Anyone experiencing an issue with do not disturb? I have a schedule set but it doesn't always work. Some nights it works and others it doesn't. Hide visual notifications also doesn't work for me. I downloaded a third party app and it seems to work fine. It is just bugging me that the built in option does not work.

Facing the same problem here. Scheduled DND set but some days it does enter in DND mode, others not. S8+ in Brazil. Did you get any solution for that or the still happening?
Same here. Some nights the phone starts vibrating at 3am

I've searched for a while now, and can't find the answer to this really basic question. So here goes...
Is LTE required to track a run? I understand the non-LTE has standalone GPS, but would the non-LTE be able to plot your run without your phone? For example, it would plot it on a "blank map" on the watch while you're running, since obviously you'd need a data signal to draw the map as you run. However, when you get back to you phone, the plotted run would then be drawn over a map...is this possible? I think this is what the non-LTE gear s3 can do, but I wanted a clear answer before I decide which one to buy.
I don't need to make calls and text in standalone, but I DO want to plot a run over a map when I get back to my phone. Hope the question made sense and apologies if this has been addressed. I imagine it has, but for some reason I cannot find this exact question. Thanks.
I have the non-LTE version and track my run using shealth. Once it has a solid lock on GPS, it will plot my run on a simple map without the phone. When it connects to the phone, it will show a more detailed map on both the watch and phone.

Does anyone know of a solid method to get that GPS lock without waiting until the shealth countdown finishes and you are already into a couple minutes of a run? Once it has a lock it does well. I have run with my garmin simultaneously and I notice there is a .3 - .4 mile lag because of the GPS lock delay on the S3.
you must wait for the blinking GPS icon in shealth to turn solid (usually takes 15-20 seconds to lock) before starting your run else no location plotting.
Very nice. Thanks everyone. Just bought one.

That's interesting. Are you on 3.0? My watchface looks like this below. I have to click the start button just to see the GPS icon and by then the stop watch is already running before a lock is set.
Congrats, OP, I think you'll like it.

Yup, my Samsung Health version on my watch is 4.1.3600.
For instance you can use run4gear, it's full of features and can sync with runtastic, endomondo, mapmyrun and runkeeper and now it's free.

Hi, i am using the Chinese version of the Find X2 pro and I just can't seem to get the it to work for notifications.
It works just fine when I get calls, but it doesn't do anything when I receive messages from like WhatsApp or WeChat etc.
I have the "light effects for lock screen" option turned on but it still doesn't work Does anyone here know a fix?

Same here. Never noticed this working on mine either now you mention it. China spec in UK also.
Doesn't work with global rom in UK either! I use True Edge from google play store, but even that is hit and miss (and it's not brilliant on the battery). Not sure why a company who doesn't include a notification LED doesn't do more for other methods of notifying.

Bizarre (seems to be the buzz word for this phone). I got mine from Netherlands, and running EU rom, but they don't work for me.
Anyone got these Lock Screen Notifications working?
I've got the settings and it works lighting up, but only once, then it just stops which sort of defeats the object ?

It's only lighting up once or twice. Don't expect more. It's ok like that. If you want more then install from playstore. There a couple of apps which has similar settings for incoming messages calls, etc.

Yeah same issue here. Always On display is the only workaround I can think of.
With no LED they need a way to let you know of missed calls and text messages..
Can anyone recommend an alternative app?

I've tried:
True Edge
Always on Edge
Always on AMOLED
Notify Edge
All are *huge* battery suckers
Currently using Notify Buddy by Xander Apps. Seems to be the best for battery useage and lights up a circle (which is an absolute PITA to position). I have it perpendicular to the camera punch on right of screen. Works for *most* apps but not all.
Don't agree with the comment about notification only lighting once or twice is useful. We have notification sounds for that!

I think this is more if you are away from your phone or it's on silent. You want to be able to glance at your phone and know if there is something important pending. (like a missed call). At this point in time without Always on Display there is no way to do this.
Thanks for the app recommendation
I did try NotifyBuddy though didnt work for me.. No LED coming up.
i think always on display is the best option. at least it's a factory app designed to be run all the time.
For anyone not sure it's called "Screen off Clock" in the Oppo settings.

Took an age for me to "find" the LED on screen. Had to manually position and then use the overly-sensitive pseudo mouse to eventually find it. Move it a millimetre and it's gone again!
Similar issue on my UK purchased device, just over a month now, one update since purchase - CPH2025CPW_11_A.24 (still on June security patch!!)
Initially screen light effect for lock screen notifications worked but in the last few days has stopped lighting up for messages. Works fine for incoming calls though...
