Device spontaneously reboots - General Questions and Answers

I have a Motorola Edge phone running LineageOS 17.1. I get spontaneous reboots while I am using the phone. The screen freezes, then after about 10 second, the device reboots. Sometimes it works for a long time, otherwise I get reboots quite often. Reboots happen only when I am using the phone, not when it is in the background. I couldn't find any crash reports or anything that would help me debug it. Any idea what causes this and if there is any way to solve it?

@petersohn
Did you already check the device forum for a possible solution? And it might be that you get a answer there better than here. Just let me know if you want me to move this tread into the device forum.

Hello Everyone, I really need help. I downloaded the paranoid android ROM on my galaxy S3 and have been having problems with it. I'm not sure if it's because my phone has been turned off due to not being able to pay my bill, but I keep getting a message on my screen saying OTA not responding and that will go away after I press ok a few times, but then another message will pop up saying android.com not responding and I press ok and it will keep popping up. I can't do nothing but take the battery out. I will go into CWM mode and do a factory reset and a cache reset, but still have that message. I'm stuck and don't know what to do. I don't want to uninstall it because I really like it, but if I really have to I will. I'm just hoping someone can help me out. I'm new to all this rooting and adding custom ROM's.
So many things wrong..where to begin?

[Q] Making new post "posts twice"

I'm having a quite annoying and weird issue.
I imagine it'll be good to know that I use Chrome.
Every time I reply to a topic (Now that I think of it, it may not be every time, but say at least 90% of the time, probably more), I get the error message below. This does not seem to happen when I post new threads.
This forum requires that you wait 20 seconds between posts. Please try again in 19 seconds.
Thing is, it does post my post perfectly fine. It's as if it tries to do it twice, and the second one gets denied because, well, the first one went through and is posted. I thought it was just a small hickup on my end at first, but its been doing this for days now.
Edit: Another, probably related, issue. When I edit posts it gets stuck with the "loading" cursor. Chrome runs fine other than XDA, and nothing crashes. It just loads until infinity. If I just hit back, or navigate back to the same place I was posting, my post is there. It's as if the redirect just fails.
The reason I am posting this here, despite it most likely being a Chrome-issue, is that I only experience issues on XDA. Nowhere else do I have problems at all.
Any ideas?

[Q] Freeze at [ROM][KK][4.4.4][KTU84Q] CyanogenMod 11.0 (20140910-UNOFFICIAL)

Hi there,
My First post on the forum. First of all a big hand for all the developers.
I’ve installed [ROM][KK][4.4.4][KTU84Q] CyanogenMod 11.0 (20140910-UNOFFICIAL) on my Samsung Galaxy Wonder i8150. Everything works perfect accept the application Viber. This app causes a freeze at the lock screen (or at the home screen when I’m quick enough with entering my sim lock code.
After the first reboot following the first installation of this the screen freezes completely. Can’t do anything, the phone reboots after a little while and goes into a loop
I’ve done several reinstalls of the ROM. The freeze only appears after installing this specific app.
I’m a new users so unfortunately I’m not permitted to post to the development-related forums.
I can’t imagine that I’m the only one who is using this app. Is anybody else experiencing this problem
TIA

How can I stop my Note Pro (SM-P900) from freezing and random rebooting?

I purchased a refurbished (wifi only) model. The problem occurred from day .
The system will freeze after about 5 minutes and sometimes simply reboots, even when it's not being used.
I have done a factory reset and booted to safe mode but problem persists.
I think it is a hardware issue, but what should I look for or tell a repair tech?
I have the exact same problem. Anyone have any further information?

Read the threat " Flickering Screen" but only a last few pages as previous pages have no helpful information with many guessing solutions.
@Beut, could you please give a link to the thread "Flickering Screen"?
In various other threads people are refered to that thread, but neither by googling nor by searching the forum I could find it.
Thanks in advance!

Boy, this thread got sidetracked quickly. Mostly because you asked a REALLY IMPORTANT question. Once it got sidetracked, no one came back to address your original concern.
So here is what I know.
1. If your system becomes unresponsive - meaning any icon you tap on nothing happens, even when pressing the big button in the bottom center - tap the power button. It shuts the sceen off. Then hit the oval button, unlock the screen. It should work.
2. The random reboots probably means something has been changed or knox has been tripped. Possibly the device may have been rooted/unrooted once. It probably is a google thing. I personally HATE google+. Try to clear the davlik cache. It is located in /data/dalvik-cache - in the root area, if using Total Commander. You have to have root. Delete everything in this directory then do an immediate restart. On restart, android will rebuild each caching file for each current app, it may take a minute or two, but there will be a progress message all along.
Try those things
Do any of you guys have the Verizon or the SIM card LTE version?
If that is a YES, believe that I can help you.
(Regarding OP's WiFi model, I think that one needs to be replaced or returned)

[Completed] samsung galaxy core prime boot issue

hello fellow community. i apoligze for posting this in this wrong place but i just got here and the spam protect wont let me.
so um i have a samsung galaxy core prime that is stuck on the samsung bootscreen. i was getting rid of files because my phone ran out of space to open gallery. i tried uploading the files to drive but after i did a ton of stuff started crashing. like the google play services and android.processes.media. so i turned it off and turned it back on. the startup was normal till i got to the samsung logo screen where the logo glows and blue and white dots come out of it. it wouldnt stop looping that one animation so i took out the battery. its been doing the same thing everytime i start up. ive already tried recovery and clear cashe partition and as far as i read, the next best thing would be hard reset. but i have important things on my phone that google cant back up. is there anyway what so ever i can fix the boot problem and return to normal usage. and if not is there anyway to retrieve data off of a phone i cant get into like memos, some pictures, and text records.
please someone help me, but please just dont delete this thread for it being in the wrong place. any help would be grealy appreciated. thank you.
