Generic System Image releases | Platform | Android Developers

Thank you. That's a standalone firmware, isn't it? No need for gapps?

Well it is a system image with Google services integrated in it.

Ok, I'll give it a try, thanx

[Q] Help about CM 11 or 12 for Galaxy S2 Plus GT-I9105

Hi,
I recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus GT-I9105 (JB 4.2.2) with CWM and now i'm planning to install a ROM compatible with my phone which has Android version 4.4 or 5.0.
I stumbled upon the following articles here on XDA:
[ROM][4.4.2][UNOFFICIAL]Cyanogenmod 11 - Pg. 178 | Samsung Galaxy S II Plus | XDA Forums
[ROM][4.4.4][UNOFFICIAL][M12]Cyanogenmod 11.… | Samsung Galaxy S II Plus | XDA Forums
[ROM][UNOFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 12.0 [20150207… | Samsung Galaxy S II Plus | XDA Forums
Can somebody tell me:
How is it's interface? Is it Stock Android interface or some other?
The installation method on the pages mentioned above say "Optionally install the Google Apps Addon". What is this Google Apps Addon?
If I install CM, which version would you prefer? CM11 with Android 4.4.2? CM11 with Android 4.4.4? CM12 with Android 5.0.2?
If I don't get the Stock Android interface, how do I get it on the ROMs provided on the above mentioned links? (if I install one of them)
Can I get back to the Stock ROM through Odin?
Are there any risks?
Please give me any information about this because I am new to rooting.
Once I have enough information, I will install CM and I will reply the results here.
Hey ahmedbatty !
Basically CyanogenMod is built upon the source code of the open source release of Google’s Android,
which is also known as Android Open Source Project or AOSP. CyanogenMod provide users with better or extra features, which are not found in the original or stock versions of Android.
CyanogenMod comes with numerous built-in features which are not found in Google’s version of Android or in stock versions created by various mobile phone manufacturers and carriers.
Specially its clean from unnecessary bloatware you are stuck with in stock versions.
You can Customize everything in CyanogenMod as Per Your Choice......
[ROM][4.4.2][UNOFFICIAL]Cyanogenmod 11 is Based on Android Kitkat 4.4.2(Older Version).
[ROM][4.4.4][UNOFFICIAL]Cyanogenmod 11[M12] is Based on Android KITKAT 4.4.4 (Newer than Kitkat 4.4.2) based on Dalvik Run-time.
[ROM][UNOFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 12.0 is Based On Current Android OS Called Android Lollipop 5.0(based on ART Run-time).
[ROM][UNOFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 12.0 is Stable & best Android Lollipop ROM for Samsung Galaxy S-II Plus GT-I9105/I9105P.

You the guy from 4pda right ?
Can you fins Oreo beta ota link ?
Thanks
Thank you for your link!
I downloaded 1 sample, the 7.12.7 December patch around ~1.0GB. However how should I proceed next? The file size is different from Xiaomi A1 official ROM, which is ~1.3GB.
I extracted the sample and found out that the payload.bin contains majority of the file. How can I extract this into boot.img, system.img and so on?
can i flash full roms with miFlah tool or not
Can somebody fetch the Oreo beta OTA link.

Yep. But I'm not in beta testing, so the link must be captured by someone, who received a beta.

It is impossible for now to unpack "payload.bin".

So how do we install these OTA's? Can someone post a mini guide or something? Thanks for your work!

As written in the first post - no way.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thank you! It helps a lot.
Why? Just flash the stock rom from miui forum using miflash with 'save userdata' checked and you'll get the same result..

Can we somehow trick internal updater in thinking that these otas are directly from server.?
Well, it's nice of you to provide these links, so we can access them if someone ever finds a way to use them. Is there any chance that @mohancm can update his TWRP to support these files?

Well, you're probably right, but I've had some very frightening experiences with MiFlash on my Redmi Note 3. And every time I use it with my A1, I'm in fear (and I've had to use it a few times because I couldn't get OTA to work). I really wish I could use TWRP to update system.

Well, it isn't so easy.
When you check for updates, the phone will do a "checkin" in Google servers showing his sw version, model, provider, platform, if you are in wifi or mobile data, etc.
So how to do the checkin if, for example, you do routing tricks to redirect Google IP to your local web server storing that zip file?
We don't know what protocols are used to do the check-in

android 6.0.1 drivers on 8.0 aosp build Nexus 5

I am new in android rom development, but I am very experienced in object-oriented languages, especially Java, so I thought I can check it out. I have a Nexus 5. I have followed AOSP guide (I've synchronised whole android repo). I want to build Android 8.1.0 for my Nexus 5, but I need drivers, right? On google driver binaries there ARE Nexus 5 drivers, but only for android 6.0.1 and below.
My question is: Can I use these drivers (for 6.0.1) with android 8.1.0? If not, How much changes will i need to make?
If you know any good tutorial for porting device drivers, please include the link.
Thanks for every answer, tip or advice.
EDIT: Oreo is on project treble, right? So if I contact the guy who made 8.0.0 rom for Nexus 5 and get the drivers from him, can I use them with 8.1.0?

I got an OTA update to firmware PD1805F_EX_A_8.8.10 (FuntouchOS 10 on Android 10) on my Vivo Nex India variant.
Since the update I'm facing numerous issues like:
1. Super fast battery drain (Android system seems to be hogging most of it)
2. Various app crashes
3. Albums app not working which effectively blocks all image related featurs like Camera, Insta/Whatsapp/Facebook image sharing, any app with any action related to images/videos
4. Unable to read music/ringtone files on my device (hence no ringtone alert for calls)
5. overheating while charging and using any apps at all.
I want to downgrade to FuntouchOS 9. Can I safely copy the PD1805F_EX_A_6.6.10-update-full_0529025648.zip file to the Download/upgrade folder and selecting Local Upgrade from the System update settings?

Even the MTP connection didn't work, so couldn't take bacup of my media files.
Resorted to factory reset as a last option.
Good news: got the phone up and running on the latest update without any of the issues specified earlier.
Bad news: Lost all my multimedia files including some really cool ringtones and wallpapers I spent ages finding.
Well, you win some, you lose some. My advice, backup all your data before initiating the latest update.
Updated or downgraded
