Question "Remote connection" not working on 44mm LTE watch4 with Pixel 4a 5G - Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

Although I've mostly had good luck getting things working between my Watch4 LTE (T-Mobile US) and my phone (Google Pixel 4a 5G, Android 12), I have not been able to get the "Remote Connection" feature working (Wearables app>Settings>Advanced Features>Remote connection). This means my watch does not get SMS, phone calls to my phone's paired phone number, or notifications unless they're connected via Bluetooth. SMS or calls to the watch's phone number go through ok on LTE. Firmware and apps are all fully updated, and I tried a couple of factory resets, still no luck so far. Has anyone else experienced this? It's made the LTE connection totally useless for me.

Well, I'm glad to hear it's working for someone - there's still hope for me! Not sure if T-mo or Samsung support will be better for this; might take one more crack at it on my own. Can't seem to find an obvious culprit - of course the "find my phone" feature works over the LTE network, just nothing else.

Hello, I am the same with a pixel 5

I had the same issue withy Pixel 5 my solution was I set my watch up on a my Samsung s10 with my SIM in Samsung s10 phone and watch and then set up the LTE all should be worked fine then factory reset on the watch but do not remove the LTE data it gives you the option to delete Sim mobile data it DO NOT DELETE IT then setup the watch on your pixel and it should be all fine Hope is short guide helps

I'm glad that worked! I ended up doing a factory reset on my phone (still on Android 12 Beta 4.1) without restoring from my backup and Remote Connection worked fine! Now waiting for my restore to complete and hoping it will continue to connect. I'll update the thread with my results when I'm finished with the restore operation.

Restored from my backup and went through watch setup in the Galaxy Wearables app, and it's all working. Not sure exactly what was keeping it from working before I reset my phone, but it's working reliably now..

Hmm.. Just to make sure.. so in theory, the Remote Connection should work via LTE as well? I am getting the small disconnected icon at the top whenever I am not on BT with my phone... just wondering if should I start to mess all around with this trying to figure out why it fails.

Yes, that's right - your watch should be able to connect via wifi/LTE when the out of bluetooth range. I couldn't get mine to work after multiple watch factory resets, but a phone factory reset worked (maybe clearing the phone's cache would have worked, didn't try it). Now it works reliably and I can finally leave my phone at home and still get all my notifications on the watch.

Can you please verify that the remote connection is working on the LTE version of the watch for messages and CALLS too.
I am asking because in the past i had a active 2 Watch and i was so excited with the remote connection. Which i decided to buy the LTE version and with a cheap data plan only , i will be able to use the watch stand alone. Unfortunately to the LTE version of the watch the remote connection was supported only for messages and not for calls.

Mobile network internet access stopped working

Yesterday was like any other day, I took the bus to work and enabled mobile hotspot on my Oneplus 6 so I could do some work. On my way home in the afternoon, I did the same thing. This time however, I had exclemation marks on the mobile network symbol in the statusbar. Tried enabling hotspot anyway but there was network. Rebooted the phone but still the same issue. Oh well, I thought it was just my carrier then. When I came home to my wifi, I checked my carriers status information on their websites and there was no disturbances. Then I restored a backup which failed and I had to reflash the phone entirely with the latest pie zip. Today, I still don't have any network on my sims. I use two sims but they are using the same carrier. I also asked around my friends which has the same carrier and they have network...
I would understand if something might have happened when I reflashed the phone last night but that does not explain the sudden malfunction of the network on my bus ride home, the phone had worked flawlessly for a whole week.
This thread seem to be about the same thing and I tried the solutions regarding clearing caches and settings but it did not work:
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/...ot-working-but-network-bars-are-there.844978/
Could it be something with the IMEI number? But it doesn't explain why it stopped working out of the blue. I can see both my IMEI numbers in the settings and I have also tried install Magisk 17.2 beta as suggested by another user. I think I still have a backup of the modem on my pc. However this is from when the network still worked and then suddenly stopped working.
TLDR: I have full reception, Calls and SMS work, there is just no Internet connection.
Just to be sure, datasave is turned off?

Yep, that is off. I have also reset my APN setting and double checked them with my provider, it didn't help.
No hotspot
I'm having a similar issue, I updated to android p stable and since then I can't use hotspot. It turns on fine and says devices connected but internet doesn't work on the connected devices. This seems to be an issue with Android P because my gf also has the op6 and I tried hotspot on hers before updating and it worked fine, then updated and it stopped working for her too. I have also tried clearing cache and manually entering the APN. I need to be able to tether to my laptop and tablet for work so anyone solution to this problem would be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Although the problem I decribed in this thread isn't the hotspot problem, it was caused by my carrier. But I also have issues with hotspot, my laptop has trouble finding the wifi from the phone.

loosing reception/signal on my s8+

Somehow my s8+ loosing reception all the suddenly.
phone has never been dropped.
i am loosing cellular signal all the time. no mattere where i am.
first i thought it was software problem, an did all the right things. safe mode, checking third party apps,
hard reset, an all that.
then i downgraded the room back oreo to see if it helped, no luck ;(
changing sim did NOT help either.
any suggestions? i have no warranty left on the phone as it a bit over 2 years old.
Mine is doing the same thing, even with wifi. It started after the most recent update. I have been googling, but haven't found much so I assumed that it was localized to me. I have never had connectivity issues with this phone before.
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
I am having the exact same issue, it all happened after I updated to android 9, even if you downgrade back to 8 it doesn't fix the issue, has anyone managed to find a solution ? Like henbone11 mentioned suggested sites with fixes from Google do not work. Thanks in advance
I was thinking bad modem software? Is it possible to get a older modemsoftware onto the phone with PIE installed?
Same problem here. Have not done any mods, always accepted the official updates.
Cant make or receive calls. (sometimes can make one or two calls right after restart). I do get text message notifications about missed calls. GSM data not working (sometimes seems to work for a bit but not enough to load a page or use maps.
WiFi and Bluetooth still work for me. so I'm using the s8 with another older phone for WiFi hotspot and calling.
Have done full factory reset, uninstalled all apps aso. Nothing brings it back - phone repair shops say they haven't heard s8 having these problems.
I have the same issue.
One day after I restarted my phone, it suddenly said no network connection. I did factory reset too, didnt fix it. Changed sim cards, still error.
I downloaded a widget that was supposed to turn the cell radio on and off. Cant turn the cell radio on either

Hi,
This issue is quite easy to fix. As modem performance (connectivity) is linked to model configuration. Another word for this is CSC.
It is fine to change your CSC. Download a benchmark tool to monitor your connectivity and record values and do not feel afraid to update / change your CSC.
It can take a while to find the right one for you, not it will be worth it. Don't worry.
Note: CSC changer can be easily found in XDA.
Note: a restart may be required to take the configuration into account.
Cheers

Hi.. i want to do your solution.
What benchmark tool to use? And is there a tutorial for the process?
Thank you so much for the idea.
I moved to another country and used a local sim card, worked for a couple of days and then it's suddenly no network.
IMEi still ok.
Phone still detects my number.
I've tried
resetting network setting
factory reset
Flashing latest unbranded firmware via Odin
Still no luck.
The mobile radio switch won't turn on.
Ping test fails.
Sometimes I wonder if this is a hardware issue.

Why would this work? Phone worked normally before. Same country/same provider. Sometimes still connects to data network for a minute and then drops all cellular connection again.
Why would changing CSC work.
Asking because changing CSC is not easy for me and I don't see why would I need to change it if it worked perfectly before. NFC payments worked(still work) , data/voice calls worked perfectly for 2 years. Then suddenly didn't.

Google Messages does not work all the time with WiFi on?

I have Google messages as my default app RCS. It seems my app doesn't work all the time sending or receiving messages with WiFi on. Once I turn off wifi I get my messages. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue. A buddy of mine has the s20 and has the same issue.
Bump. Anybody have this issue on ATT?

I friend of mine has the same issue. He did a factory reset and still has the message issue.
using this app on both the z fold 2 and ultra note 20 5g, both unlocked and both on tmo. had them both at launch day. im on wifi virtually all the time i use the app.
I have the same issue with every single app that relies on data - whether that means mobile data or wifi data doesn't even matter on this Samsung. Like twice per hour, I always get a WAVE of notifications. For example, I'll get like 6 snapchats at once, followed by like 2-3 texts every 30 minutes. Oh, and by the way, I have T-Mo... So this, unfortunately, isn't a carrier issue. It is most definitely a phone issue....
This is the first and only phone that I've ever purchased that has this problem. Hell, the phone also doesn't have voicemail support! I've already wiped my device and reinstalled the most recent update... Still have the same issues...
Sucks that I'm stuck with this phone for over the next two years, but this will most definitely be the last Samsung phone that I ever buy lol. When did this company go down the drain??? I used to have a Note 3 and that phone was awesome! But this Note 20 Ultra phone has more software problems than any phone that I've ever seen before...
*Edit* - Forgot to mention that Samsung throws ads onto EVERY single app that you use. I even get all of these Samsung ads on Google Chrome that pop-up and cover the entire screen. Keep in mind that this is happening just after a factory reset.... So there's nothing installed on the phone that can do this. It's just how Samsung works nowadays, sadly...

Yes. What I'm seeing is phantom messages that say "Tap to Download". Tapping does nothing until I turn off Wifi and try again. There doesn't seem to be a 1:1 correspondence of the "tap to download" messages and actual real messages. Sometimes tapping just removes them all, sometimes I get a bunch of text messages that show up.
I've had a Note 20 Ultra and a Fold 2 before my current Note 20 Ultra. I didn't have this problem with either phone, but previously I didn't have a cross flash (i.e., ATT in the CSC, unlocked everywhere else). The Fold 2 wasn't ATT at all, and the previous Note was all ATT flash.
So this issue is widespread and no fix yet besides turning off Wi-Fi.
This is the issue. Just sux. Tap to download does nothing.
I am on Verizon and it happens to me when sending text messages all the time. I read that turning off Wifi calling helps but it doesn't do anything different for me. The weird part is that I can send about 10-15 messages and then all of the sudden they won't send out and the only fix is I have to reboot my phone. Turning off Wifi doesn't do anything for me.

I tried turning off wifi calling too. That didn't fix it for me. The only thing that works is turning wifi off.
Does this only happen with Google Messages or other apps as well.
WiFi Calling and MMS messages on AT&T have been inconsistent for a while now.
It's been all over the AT&T forums for months. AT&T doesn't have any solid answer as to why it fails so much.
Their 5G APN (ATT Enhancedphone) is hit or miss on have the APN Type info correctly populated as well. Should be set to 'default, supl, mms, fota', but occasional it will be blank.

Looks normal.
I find it very frustrating that something so simple has so many issues on AT&T.
I still can't use WiFi calling and receive MMS messages. Sometimes it hangs even on WiFi, so like you, I have to shut it off completely to get the messages.

Question Watch4 not automatically connecting to network?

This is an odd one for me and I've tried a bunch of things to fix this.
My wife works where she can't have her phone out but she is allow a smartwatch. So what she did before was leave her phone in the car or in the break room. when she had her previous phone and watch it worked fine but that was a note10 and active2 but now she has a pixel 6 and a watch4.
Now the issue is that throughout the day the watch stops or doesn't even connect to the mobile network when she gets out of Bluetooth range of her phone even with the connection setting set to always on or auto. And this issue is definitely not constant, it is intermittent but I've tried resetting network settings, I've tried resetting the watch idk how many times, when I spoke with T-Mobile about it, they reset the esim in the watch and and paired it to her line again just refresh it, even went as far as resetting the pixel phone to factory settings once and this issue persists. I'm considering just getting her the watch5 pro but I'd hate for this problem to continue onto that watch too.
What confuses me is that I had a pixel 6 pro and a watch4 and no issues ever.

Question Google Assistant stuttering on Galaxy watch 4 44mm Bluetooth

Hey everyone,
As the title says I have a problem with Google Assistant. It's stuttering when it is set to voice output. Basically it is unusable I had to turn off the voice. I have already rebooted both phone and watch, resetting the watch two times actually. Nothing helped. I think it is maybe a Bluetooth problem I don't know I have a xiaomi 11 lite 5g. I never had any issues with Bluetooth before like pairing earbuds or my previews smartwatch which was an amazfit GTS 2e. Bixby voice on the watch voice output is fine and also Bluetooth calls are also fine. The only thing that I did and helped but it's not a solution at all was to turn off Bluetooth on my watch and phone and turn on Wi-Fi on the watch then the assistant was fluent. I don't know what else to do.
I posted my problem to Reddit to Google support, here, and although there are other people that have the same problem no solution so far. Oh well
same on my galaxy watch 4 classic 46mm:
posted on reddit, no answer for me as well
talked to samsung customer service, they told me the usual stuff like factory resettiung it, and after i assured them i tested it, they told me to send it in. now im without my watch and have a feeling that nothing will come from it..

Sorry to hear that. I don't think it's the watch fault. I has to be something with the phone. I have a xiaomi m11 lite 5g. On Reddit someone else had the same problem with a nothing phone. What phone do you have?
right now its working fine for me, could be multiple reasons.
i assume its either stopping and starting the BT connection, or enabling contacts access for the watch in the phones BT menu.
Please just do all of the steps and we can try to narrow it down later:
On the watch:
make sure you have wifi enabled and are connected to a network
disable bluetooth in the watch settings
start google assistant and ask a question
(for me, i startet assistant like 3 times before it honored my wifi connection. before it just said im offline)
for me (and for several others who experienced the stutter) the answer is now not stuttering
go back to the settings and reactivate bluetooth
On the phone:
go to bluetooth settings
tap on your watch and make sure you have "Calls" and "Contact access" enabled. or any other permission you can give, for me its just those two
restart your phone and watch
Now, im connected via bluetooth (wifi on the watch still enabled), and it doesnt stutter.
idk what it is or if it will still work when i deactivate my wifi network or the wifi option on the watch, but for now, its the first time that it works for me
ill report back after some more testing (i will try to deactivate my wifi network at home, still keeping the watches wifi turned on. if it still works, i will disable the wifi on the watch)
In my original post as I said I have already done the wifi solution. The assistant response in fluent but as soon as I disable the wifi the stuttering returns. Also I have those two options on the phones Bluetooth enabled. I really want to thank you for trying. Maybe we can get to the bottom of this. if anything changes I will post.
Ok for me, deactivating the Network and deactivating WiFi in the watch itself did still Work, so my stutter is gone.. but im Sure i will Loop Back to Here when it comes Back, which it probably will

Do you have the lte version of the watch? Because you said deactivate the network. I tried the solution you gave me which is I turned on the Wi-Fi on the watch and turned off Bluetooth and assistant was working fine. But as soon as I activated Bluetooth again on my watch the stutter came back. Happy for you nevertheless
no i have the wifi only version. by deactivating the network, i meant i will shut down my wifi network at home. so the watch still has wifi enabled, but doesnt have any connection via wifi whatsoever

Aaaand its over. Stutter is Back.
I am on the Go at the Moment but tomorrow i will Invest some time and reproduce my steps, Testing every step of the way
That's a bummer. Sorry to hear it's back. Iam also trying different things but iam running out of ideas.
I dont think it's any particular thing but, here's what I did between when it worked last time and now:
Situation when it last worked:
Home, wifi, phone connected
Event protocol:
Phone turned off for faster charging
Watch taken off (locked itself)
Watch put on charger until 100%
Phone powered up again and removed from charger
Watch removed from charger, put on wrist, unlocked
Left house (no wifi for watch anymore)
Changed watch settings to access Google pay on double tap
Most if not all of this sounds unrelated but it may be interesting to reproduce or once someone figures it out
I also got it to work without stutter for a couple of questions answered when I switched off and then switched on the Bluetooth on my phone. But it didn't work every time I did that.
Can you try doing a network speed test on your phone when this happens? I've had this happen, but only when I was on a very slow WiFi connection or bad cellular network connection.

I did but the network speed is fine. In fact the only time the assistant is working properly is when the watch is connected to a wifi network and not Bluetooth
I have the same problem with the GW5 Bluettooh.
With Bluetooh on, the voice output always stutters.
With deactivated Bluetooth, only with WLAN it doesn't stutter.
Has anyone found a solution?
I use a Huawei P20pro as my cell phone
Thanks
