LMV500EM Root and TWRP available ? - LG V50 ThinQ Questions & Answers

Hello,
I bought a V50 LMV500EM the days. Now I have looked at all the root instructions, but nowhere is this version mentioned.
Can I now assume that for the V500EM no root and TWRP is available or is there still something coming ?
If I have overlooked the corresponding thread, please link times.
And another question. The phone should be able to 5G, n78 band, my sim card can 5G, but have not yet 5G on the display, and in the mobile settings is also only GSM/UMTS and LTE to choose from. No 5G
Or does that come only with the update to Android10 ? I have not yet made any updates and therefore still installed Android9.

As far as i know,in order to be able to connect with 5g,your device must be certified from your gsm carrier, even if it is capable.
Better come in contact with your carrier and they will give you directions on how to do it.
For example in my country, even if you get a 5g capable device, you have to send a message to the carrier from your 5g device, and they send you back some kind of carrier settings in order to be able to connect to 5g.
Just give it a try.

Hello,
I don't know if you found your answers : regarding the 5G connection, it's a kind of joke in V50, there's only one band so if isn't the one supported by your carrier don't wait too long for 5G. concerning the root and trwp, I assume that you didn't go deeper on the various threads because you maybe saw this one talking about rooting and bootloader unlocking. As you have the V500EM you don't need the parts of the thread explaining how to unlock the bootloader, just go through the official way with the LG code. And at last, regarding the updates you can install updates by yourself using kdz files and lg up software, currently we are at android 11, to find kdz files and how to use lg up go through this site or this one and look for your model.
Hope these little tips will help you.

@Int976
Hi,
thanks for your support, but I returned the smartphone and am now waiting for the Xperia 5 iii.
The 5G on the V50 was really a joke and have tested it with 2 different providers, so in 2 different networks. But neither in the one nor in the other network 5G had although n78 is supported. However, the battery life did not convince me either. It may be that the battery was no longer the freshest due to storage.
I knew that the V500EM can be officially unlocked by LG, but that's no use if the TWRP is not adapted for the 500EM. Because the threads I had all through. But in the TWRP threads was only the Korean model the speech.
Well now it's too late. But thanks anyway that you wanted to help me.

Chinese Oneplus 8 5G

Hi guys,
I received an offer to order a Chinese Oneplus 8 and 8 pro however I am wondering if I can use the 5G here in the UAE.
Our networks support 5G, however, I need to know if the Chinese version OnePlus 8 5G will work.
Is there any bands like LTE that we can check. Or the 5G in Chinese version will only work in Mainland of China?
Thanks guys
hi dear, if you are referring to the ones sold on noon by callmate, they are definitely rebranded chinese variants, and you can check the 5g bands from oneplus spec sheets
https://www.oneplus.com/cn/8/specs?from=8
https://www.oneplus.com/ae/8/specs?from=8
i see that on https://halberdbastion.com/intelligence/countries-nations/united-arab-emirates both of your du and etisalat should work on 5g at n78, and looking at the above spec sheets, n78 is supported on both ae and cn models, so i guess yes it should work.
I might be wrong, so take it with a grain of salt

WOW! You got what I am thinking. Yes, I am planning to order from Callmate. However I am think if I should buy it this early. Oneplus 8 and pro is now flooded with screen issues in Oneplus forum. What do you think? I am thinking of buying OP 8, Mi note 10 pro or Realme x2 pro. Mi 10 price is crazy high here also so it is not on the option. Last option for me is iphone SE 2020.
Thanks
OP8 doesn't seem to have video issues. Where are you reading this?

https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/oneplus-8-display-issues.1218843/#post-21547466
and this is for OP 8 also
I was planning the same. I wonder if the Chinese variant will have L1 wide wine so that Netflix and prime can stream HD content.
I've got a Chinese variant imported to the UK works fine here, no problems at all, as long as it has the bands used in your country it should be fine

have you flashed Oxygen on your Chinese Oneplus 8? If so, can you give me a pointer to any instructions? Thanks!

Mine came with it flashed oxygen os already, I believe this is the method to flash it to oxygen os - https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-8/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-8-t4084629
OK, thanks.
Not to start a new thread, so trying to post the question here.
I got a Chinese Oneplus 8 Pro from an online sight who have stated that they've flashed it with the Global Oxygen ROM.
Thing is, while the sites state the 5G Bands that the phone supports, 5G does not want to work out of the box in my country (Saudi Arabia) even though my Huawei P40 Pro used to show 5G at home.
I've read somewhere that someone has purchased a similar phone and has managed to connect his phone to laptop and do a couple of things and get 5G to work.
Could anyone possibly point me in that direction? I have honestly searched for a few days but yet to find a way of activating 5G here.
Cheers in advance.

I have made instruction how to enable 5G any network: https://mt-tech.fi/en/modify-oneplus-7-pro-5g-8-and-8-pro-nr-lte-a-band-combos/ - but of course there is limit in hardware supported combos. Many devices have 5G enabled only certain networks.
I'm very intrested about logs from your OnePlus device. I have instruction to get combos https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g-supported-ca-combinations-from-your-android-phone/ (Go to OnePlus section). In log i can see if 5G enabled or not and also 4G combos enabled.

Hey thanks for your work on it. I've found that QPST up to 2.7.480 does not support the 8 (No Phone, but device manager sees it properly. I've also tested QPST with my OP6 and it's fine). Which version of QPST did you use?

Yep, lemme try downgrading to 2.7.460 and check. In your case, were you able to modify LTE bands at all or did you try?

in carrier_policy.xml you can change policy to enable 5G, modify 4G CA Combinations and enable/disable single band support certain PLMN.
Amazing, I can confirm that 2.7.460 works, but 480 does not. That said, can modifying carrier_policy.xml result in enabling bands that NV has locked? I assumed that adding bands required modifying the nv section?
Edit: Enabled additional bands via lte_bands section, but it didn't work (downgraded to 3G instead, no LTE bands shows up)

OnePlus 8 (IN2010) Chinese Bands vs Europe

Hello,
i would just like to know if OnePlus 8 (China version) is good enough to support 4G LTE in EU, does it have all the bands required? I've read about "band 28" which it lacks and that this will be used for 5G? I don't care for 5G (yet), so my question is, will it work for everything else, is it good enough, i'm from Slovenia if that helps, i've been checking the bands, but i'm too confused to know what to think about this, those are too confusing for me, i've been checking them, but i'm just not sure, i think it should be fine, but i'm not 100% sure, so if anyone who knows this stuff can tell me, or even better, someone who has that OnePlus 8 phone can tell me, that would be great (=
Greetings
I have just ordered a CN version for use in the UK and from what i have read it lacks 1 frequency (band 32 i think) which from what i'm aware o2 in UK doesn't use .... Is this correct anyone? (Sorry if this a thread hijack)

Hi, just to be sure we're on the same page, I read that IN2010 is the international version (5 4gLTE bands support) and IN2020 is the Chinese one, which is missing one band used here in Europe.
Are you sure IN2010 is Chinese ?

Oh thx, I didn't see that one coming , so I have 2 questions : where to search for those infos (regional variants numbers I mean) and is this a software matter or a hardware matter ? (Will there be missing/China specials bands in it or it's just software)
Edit:
Are there any global version of the OnePlus 8, if so what would be its regional variant name ?

I just use google to find out a variant. The main differences are hardware related, specifically the bands of the device. There is also a chinese version of Oxygen OS which is called Hydrogen OS , but this can change easily by flashing global unlocked OxygenOS without any compromises.
Here you can learn more about the bands in each version : https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/g1rm7e/oneplus_8_pro_versions_and_4glte_and_5g_nr/
Edit: I think there is not a global version bandwise. (US, Europe, India and China as far as i know )

Hi,
Thanks for all this clarification, indeed I've been kinda fooled by marketing speech...
I've bought the OnePlus 8 not on the OnePlus website but on another one, and the announce said "OnePlus International Version IN2010", I was like "cool, plus it's cheap, let's get this".
Now I understand the business behind the whole website (a French one): they buy in China, flash the global rom manually and sells it cheaper, but make a little margin on the final price. That's why they call it international, just because of the ROM!
I knew (but still wanted confirmation) about missing bands a HydrogenOS and now I fully understand the market scheme. So I'll be missing B28 band (used in France with my career for 4G LTE)and an EU-compatible charger. No big deal but I'm kinda disappointed in myself, not being able to see through marketing speech and candidly trusting attractive prices... Well, we learn as we make mistakes (and I'm not ready to forgot that one).
One last think, kil-movil had a section for the OnePlus 8 called "Global" with every bands marked as available, and the model number was still IN2010. I guess they're part of the deal, since when I clicked on "see offers" I was redirected to the website I bought it in.
Even the seller was lying as he said "compatible with every bands in France". And when people ask, he was denying it every single time
Thanks for your explanations tho, I'll be able to warn the next ones at least.

Yup don't worry, I can return it and having all my money back but I don't think I will, my Nextbit Robin (daily driver) is dying and not having B28 4G out of 4 other antennas available isn't a big deal. I have only 50 Mo of data so I don't use 4G often. I would have been bothered by the charger but the seller claims (if it's not a lie) that he gives us an adapter. (Comments says he does, so hopefully he'll do)
Right now the only thing I have to do is getting past the disillusionment with some good music. Have you any title to recommend?

Pixel 5 - 5G Certification

Hey guys
i live in switzerland and now i got my hands on a pixel 5. Now I had to find out that Google is doing something stupid and certifies mobile operators for 5G.
Swisscom apparently has no certification, but 5G runs and works flawlessly with the Mi 10 Pro.
Is there any way to turn off this junk so that 5G simply works with every provider?
Thanks for your help
Are you using DualSim? I've read somewhere that in this case 5G is off
Gesendet von meinem CMR-AL09 mit Tapatalk
No im not using dualsim. Even on Network search no 5g network is found ?
It's Google's fault, indeed, I can't use 5G in Romania either. I'm waiting for a while, maybe they'll just allow us, from the countries where they don't sell official their phone, to use the full capabilities.
If they don't I'll just root and I'll do it myself, but I think Google will eventually unlock the 5G connectivity, it's hurting their "official" customers by not being able to roam on 5G or use their phone with a local sim when needed.

It's a similar problem on OnePlus 8, I think. We need to edit a file, carrier policy, and the phone will then allow 5G connections. The problem here is that on OnePlus you can retrieve the file from the phone without root, with a Qualcomm software, and then put it back, edited, with the same software. On Pixel that program isn't working so I assume the only way to access and edit that file is by rooting.
I don't want to root yet, I'm waiting a while. First of all to find out an official answer about the software shipped with the phones in Europe, a presumably KDDI Japan version and second, to see if Google doesn't fix the problem, since there are way too many people affected.
I'm from mainland China. I've ordered a Pixel 5 and just realized that it doesn't support 5g in my country! What a shame Google permit 5g for only specific carriers and block out others, while the hardware of P5 is 100% capable for supporting almost every carriers around the world!
Wondering if Google can see this post and fix that problem via ota.

Any news after the update? I returned my Pixel for the gap issue but I am interested to see if there are any changes regarding the 5G locked issue...
Got the November update and no 5G yet
I just switched over to esim today with tmobile unrooted, stock, and November patch. It shows 5g in the status bar.
BUT, under wifi and network in settings , there is no 5g where *lte 3g 2g* are.
I guess the above poster is right

Edit. I live on the east coast of PA usa and earlier this was the case.. I just checked again, I have 5g as an option. FYI anyway.
Here Italy, i ordered it from Gemran store hoping to have compatibility with vodafone since vodafone DE has already certification to work with 5G network but still nothing, i tried to flash the RD1A.201105.003.C1, Nov 2020 that is global but no working 5g connection.
I hope in a future update because my sim in OnePlus nord work well in 5g and i get about 400Mb speed that is amazing in italy, with 4g i get 130Mb.
Contacted vodafone support and they said it's a phone problem so I think maybe with december update Google wil resolve (ps in software i have the option to select 5g preferred network but never get attached to 5G where the OnePlus Nord get 5G)
I added root to my device, how can I enable 5g now.. I actually added root just to test 5g
December update still no 5g.
Google recently updated its support page about 5G network compatibility to explicitly state that 5G will work only on carriers that Google enabled it.
At this time, unlisted countries have no selected 5G carrier networks that work with Pixel phones.

Question Some questions motorola g100

Good afternoon xda group, I finally decided to buy a motorola g100 instead of the motorola edge s, I would like to know the following
1. Regarding the factory firmware, if I wanted to change it to another, for example: go from RETLA firmware to RETBR, would there be a problem? would receive ota without any problems?
2. As for the notifications in the motorola g100, it must also be activated by Motorola Device Shield
3. the motorola edge s version does not heat so I was wondering if the motorola g100 does not heat up under normal use either?
4. how can i activate 5g mode
Both phones are exactly the same, only different firmware loaded. So if you plan to unlock your phone and flash a custom rom, it won't make a difference which one you decide to choose.
5G requirements, make sure the plan you have with your carrier is 5G activated, the 5G bands match what the phone supports and it will work. There isn't something you need to do to activate it.
Are there actually any stable custom roms available for the Moto G100?

no, that is not possible
That's really tough and complicated to answer and I'll explain why. The Motorola g100 that I have is different. So I'm from the United States my Motorola g100 is model number xt2125-4 the differences are the firmware I have is the North American retail the only cell phone carrier that it properly works on is the T-Mobile network 4G 5G everything works. Has 8 gigs of RAM 128 gigs of memory this model will probably be the last one to get Android 12 but it will be stable. There's only one way to get this phone and that's the bite directly from Motorola USA

Question USA Customization on xperifirm

Hi,
I'm trying to get my Xperia 5iii vowifi working on Freedom mobile in Canada.
I want to test if they USA customization would work.
It might not, I see my XA2 H3123 had a customization for Freedom, which I know won't exist on anything newer.
I can see in xperifirm a usa customization for the 1iii with firmware 61.0.A.23.20
For the 5iii there is no USA customization but has the same firmware number.
Is there a usa customiztion on the way? Or can I download the firmware for the 1iii
It seems the phone is not out in the US yet. That’s what I’m waiting for to pick one up. I’ve seen pre-orders at US retailers saying Jan 11 is the date they will ship. So, you might find the firmware in a few weeks. I wouldn’t recommend trying to load the 1 III firmware.
Hi @Yakkosmurf ,
Thanks for the reply!
I'm really torn between trying to get this to work, and selling the device before messing around with it.
I think I'm going to give the MBN method a try
Any updates on this?
Several news articles say the 5 iii is out in USA now, but I cannot find any stores shipping or carrying it in north america (Canada)
I do find shippers selling what they call the "international version", apparently versions from Taiwan or Hong Kong.
If it turns out the "international" 5 iii is the same as the USA 5 iii and can just be reflashed to USA (I did this once with an older xperia) now the USA 5 iiithen that starts to look like a possibility…
Confusing me further the "international" XPeria 5 III is model number XQ-BQ72 and the USA model number is XQ-BQ62. No idea if there's an actual difference.
Hi @mcc111 ,
I'll tell you what's happened with mine. I bought the XQ-BQ72 and it does work on the networks here, but you can't get any of the added services like VoLTE or VoWifi (this one was important for my uses).
I tried flashing most of the roms from XQ-BQ72, but it seems the problem is there needs to be a configuration file in the modem, which basically won't exist if they haven't launched in the country (none for Canada).
I then tried flashing XQ-BQ52 which seems to be the European model, but that was even worse. The signal would connect and disconnect repeatedly, so there might be some hardware difference keeping it from playing nicely. Or, the 52 just has modem settings that don't work here. But I am not experienced enough to know which.
Because of that, I doubt flashing the 62 is a good idea. I haven't tried because I gave the phone to my wife who doesn't need the extra network features, and it'll be a headache to take back to screw around with more.
I bet since the 62 has been launched, it'll be available online eventually.

Can you discribe who you got to flash the os? I tried flahstool but it didn't recognize my 5iii, then I tried newsflasher and got stuck in a boot loop. Saw a couple people in the newflasher thread getting bootloops as well.
Do you mind share your process?
There is a solution reported as working for both Xperia 1 III & Xperia 5 III posted here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/5ii-1-5iii-volte-patch-guide-to-release-the-root.4363269/
So, can anyone confirm that they were able to Flash a Xperia 5 III US Rom with 5G working, VolLTE and Volwifi working?

I used new flasher.
Newflasher guide to install new firmware for Xperia XZ Premium, XZ1 and more | Xperia Blog
One of the most frequent questions we get asked from Sony Xperia owners is how to change the firmware. Whether that relates to upgrading/downgrading major Android versions, debranding the handset or simply changing the firmware region for faster updates. Using

This was a few months ago. My flashing to other firmwares for the same model worked fine, but none had the modem configurations to work with freedom. If I flashed the other model, my cellular connection wouldn't work properly.
I haven't tried the USA version, and can't as I gave the phone to my wife who doesn't need the wifi calling.

I couldn't get this to work in Canada, but I'd love to hear if anyone else got it to work.
My understanding of this method is your configuration files need to exist on some other version, which it seems mine were not.
A note, it turns out that the XQ-BQ72 (international) and XQ-BQ62 (usa) actually support different bands. The XQ-BQ62 supports more bands. You can see this on this site and some other places: https://www.phonemore.com/compare/p...xq-bq72-vs-sony-xperia-5-iii-xq-bq62/17024281
The bands missing on the XQ-BQ72 are N20, N66, and N71.
No idea whether the remaining bands are adequate for USA 5G and/or on which providers.
I eventually got a XQ-BQ62. I'm having some issues with it but I'll make a new thread for that.
