I've been having this problem with the Play Store where it's not displaying the Notifications correctly.
Or rather, that the persistent Notification while an app is being downloaded/updated is not showing any Details. It keeps showing that continuous horizontal scrolling bar thingy as if the download has yet to start, all the way through the actual downloading plus the installing part. No progress, no download size, doesnt even turn to "Installing" after the download is complete. It does show a proper "xy apps Updated" or "xy app Installed" at the end with the proper thumbnail, just nothing While it's downloading.
I can see the progress in the Play store page for the respective app, but the notification keeps on scrolling with no details.
It's most annoying while updating an app, as you know the notification actually shows the size of Just the update while play store just shows the download percentage out of the Whole app.
I can see in the settings page for Play Store that it's the latest version (4.9.13). The phone is Not rooted, I haven't messed with anything that should affect the Play store as far as I know. No third party app store, no proxy etc. It has been doing this since out of the box. (First time I saw this I thought the Play store might be updating first, as often happens after first setup, and that it'll get alright after a restart or something)
Is anyone else experiencing this? Has anyone experienced this some other time? Possible solutions?
Edit 2: Also, what I didn't notice till recently, is that while updating any app via the playstore, the phone downloads the Whole apk every single time. Normal behavior is to download only the updated part of apk, as happens with every other device I use, but since the notifications are not showing any progress, I didn't notice this before.
Strangest part is no one else seems to be reporting this problem, no other threads etc. My only hope is that the new update (Android 5.1) is just round the corner, and hopefully it'll be sorted then.
my one isnt even downloading giving error 489
yes
Yes this happening with me.. We have to give feedback then they will give update
Play store working like charm.. It happened for first time only.. maybe the playstore or its services might be getting updated.
Update: Problem Persists
It's still the same, with latest Play store 5.0.31, and Latest Play services. I believe it's not these apps at fault here. When an update is being downloaded, the download is actually handled by the stock Download Manager app and not the play store itself. This can be checked by long pressing the download notification and going to App Info. So That must be malfunctioning here.
My phone has "Download Manager version 4.4.4-1379542". Can someone who is not facing this problem please confirm what version his phone is using?
Also, clearing this download manager's Defaults doesn't resolve the issue.

Hey,
try installing the new playstore 5.0
first stop existing playstore app, clear data and cache, then remove your registered gmail accounts from settings, reboot and install new apk.
This should definitely solve all playstore related problems.,

I am having frequent issues when I go to the "My apps" section, and doing an "Update All". The applications will begin downloading, reach a certain point of the download (most recently it was 95%), then it seems to pause for 20 seconds, and then it appears to start the download again, usually installing successfully on the second try.
Does anyone see this issue? I am completely stock (no root or ROM)...
Thanks
Try clearing cache and data on Google Play services and Play Store.
So there's a well-known app in the Google Play Store that has been updated - I don't like this new version.
Before I updated, I saved a copy of the version I had on my phone, locally. After updating, I didn't like it. So I removed it, enabled Install from Unknown Sources, and reinstalled the version I *did* like.
Now, when I update apps from Google Play, I do "update all", then go to the app I don't want to update, and click the "x" so that it doesn't update.
The problem is, sometimes it updates anyway, even though I've verified that the app has gone to the "Updates" list and not the apps currently being updated.
It *appears* that this app is somehow forcing its own update, even though I have deselected it.
I'm using a stock android kernel, so I can't keep it from updating across the board. But I'm surprised that when I deselect it before the update process has reached it, it sometimes still updates. Again, it SOMETIMES does this, not every time.
Does anyone know how this process works? How can an app force itself to update even though I've unselected it for update?
What you want to do is open play store, open the app in the market that you don't want to auto update, then, in the top right corner there should be 3 dots, click them and disable auto update, it will disable auto update only for that app and when you hit update all, it will update it.

It's already disabled for auto-update (as are all apps on my phone).
So, unfortunately, that's not it.
If you tap on the clear data button in settings>storage>apps>google play store , the settings" do not Auto update " will be cancelled, and app will return to default settings.
Whatever the settings maybe, google play store and google play services update automatically.

Not sure what you mean; I can surely clear Google Play settings, tho' I've done that many times in the past. What do you think it would clear that would fix this issue, if auto-update is already off?
Hii there,
I was struggling to get the January Update for A1 so I looked upon many threads to find methods and devised a step by step process to force OTA updates.
METHOD 1 : (Minimal Risk)
1. Go to Settings > Apps and Notifications > App Info > 3 dot menu Icon > Show System
2. Look for Google Services Framework App.
3. Click Disable, If it asks it will delete all the data, Click cancel
4. Reboot your device and Re-Enable Google Services Framework App, wait for 5 mins for update to popup or manually check.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 again if no popup of update comes.
Thanks to @krazy_about_technology for testing and confirming the above method in this thread.
METHOD 2:
Please try and tell if it works..
Open the dialer and enter
*#*#CHECKIN#*#* or if I might say *#*#2432546#*#*
After that you will get a notification checkin succeeded. Tell me if it works or not..
OLD METHOD (Risky, might break push notifications) :
1. Go to Settings > Apps and Notifications > App Info > 3 dot menu Icon > Show System
2. Look for Google Services Framework App.
3. Open it and go to Storage > Clear Data.
4. Push back button once > Disable the app, force stop it then Enable again.
5. Reboot your device ( Important !)
6. Go to Settings > System Update > Hit check for updates (10- 15 times).
7. Update will pop up. Enjoy.
EDIT : If update doesn't popup wait 5-10 Mins.
WARNING : If this method starts some sort of catastrophe or increases Global warming, bricks your device,
your Xiaomi Mi A1 blasts, cathes fire, factory resets, earth stops revolving , moon comes closer to earth , you don't receive gifts from your girlfriend anymore , the OP (me) is not responsible.
If something goes wrong after update from this method, you can factory reset your device from recovery or settings or Clear data from apps that stop receiving push notifications after update.
PS : I created this thread bcoz I thought it might be helpful, if it doesn't helps just vote 'Nah' and tell others, please don't spread hate. Peace Out :fingers-crossed: :silly:

Also more dangerous. The damage related to the Google framework can force you to make a Factory Reset. Breaking Google Play Services is not a good idea. If you want to force the update, there you go, but maybe wait a bit is better if you think in having a functional OS environment.
Correct method??? Where did You get that idea from???
Why bother and risk functionality by "forcing" update?
There are quite a few warnings from dev's and vendors regarding that method.
At least my phone notifies me when the update is available...
If that takes a day or two longer so what's the big deal???
Calm down and let the updates roll out as planned!

In my case I have done it 3-4 times..
Still no problem. After all when you are already on a buggy update you can try risk your head afterall (random reboots :cough)

Correct method to "force" something wouldn't be that easy on your device though, so If you are impatient you can have a go. :silly:

Well... I don't do any clear on Framework and don't experience any "bugs" or "random restarts", "slow dialer" so what's Your point?
There ARE fair warnings regarding Your "correct way" to read... Just Goole it.
But anyway: Choice is Yours, but don't blame all weird behavior or "bugs" on OS...
I'm voting "No" because there's nothing "correct" about this method - on the contrary it breaks your phone and forces you to factory reset it afterwards.
Didn't work for me. (Tried several times)
I always updated by clearing google service framework data.. No issue for me.. Except one that gmail stop push notification for few days..
I did those steps, but without clearing the data for "google service framework". I force stopped, then disable it, restarted the phone, check for the update and there it was. The phone works without any issues with this method, in my case.
You (OP) should put some warning for people to test on their own risk because this is definitely not the right method. Google says to never clear data of google framework, so I think they know more then you. The only correct method is to wait for the update to show itself.

May i know whats the main issues we will face with this TRICK ?
Try Googling "clear google framework data".
As it states on few articles, You may end up running factory reset anyway!
But in the end, it's still Your choice!
On the other hand, what harm does it do to wait for the official rollout?
Loosing day or two...
This method always worked for me. But not working in case of January Security patch :/
It's normal to stop receiving push notifications but it's very easy to fix that. Uninstall those app which relies on push notifications and install again from PlayStore and everything will be fine again.
Clearing the Play Services Framework data couses serious issues as you know. I think this is the safest method to getting OTA update:

Good job :fingers-crossed:
It works thx

Just clearing the data of Google services framework does the job
Worked fine thanks.
In short, June Google Play system update after installing is always coming back.
So this is what I did before first try of installing Google Play system update:
Updated all apps in Play Store
Installed June Android security update, reboot
New updates for the apps showed up in Play Store (Camera and some others) + additional apps to install (Emoji Workshop), installed and updated
At this point Google Play system update is still on May 1, checking for new update and 57MB showed up.
Here the infinite update cycle begins...
Some additional info:
"Installing update..." screen never changes and disappears after 30min. Completely, no reboot info, update is not running in the background, nothing.
I left "Installing update..." for the night and in the morning "Reboot" showed up, after rebooting same update is still available. "Reboot" thing happened only once.
Clearing data and cache from Play Store, nothing changed.
I had disabled some of the builtin apps, like Live Wallpapers, TV, Android Auto, Pixel Tips. Enabled everything, updated those apps, reboot, update also nothing changed.
It looks like I have all the new features from June update.
So... someone had similar issue or have any idea how to fix it?
This has happened in the past. You would update Google Play system and it would not update. Eventually it will update, such need to try each and perform the update until it sticks. This is Google server side issues they always seem to have.
Be patient and it will stick with the latest update.
I've had that too. It's no big deal
