[Q] Play Store acting weird? (Not showing progress in Notification) - Karbonn Sparkle V

I've been having this problem with the Play Store where it's not displaying the Notifications correctly.
Or rather, that the persistent Notification while an app is being downloaded/updated is not showing any Details. It keeps showing that continuous horizontal scrolling bar thingy as if the download has yet to start, all the way through the actual downloading plus the installing part. No progress, no download size, doesnt even turn to "Installing" after the download is complete. It does show a proper "xy apps Updated" or "xy app Installed" at the end with the proper thumbnail, just nothing While it's downloading.
I can see the progress in the Play store page for the respective app, but the notification keeps on scrolling with no details.
It's most annoying while updating an app, as you know the notification actually shows the size of Just the update while play store just shows the download percentage out of the Whole app.
I can see in the settings page for Play Store that it's the latest version (4.9.13). The phone is Not rooted, I haven't messed with anything that should affect the Play store as far as I know. No third party app store, no proxy etc. It has been doing this since out of the box. (First time I saw this I thought the Play store might be updating first, as often happens after first setup, and that it'll get alright after a restart or something)
Is anyone else experiencing this? Has anyone experienced this some other time? Possible solutions?
Edit 2: Also, what I didn't notice till recently, is that while updating any app via the playstore, the phone downloads the Whole apk every single time. Normal behavior is to download only the updated part of apk, as happens with every other device I use, but since the notifications are not showing any progress, I didn't notice this before.
Strangest part is no one else seems to be reporting this problem, no other threads etc. My only hope is that the new update (Android 5.1) is just round the corner, and hopefully it'll be sorted then.

my one isnt even downloading giving error 489

yes
Yes this happening with me.. We have to give feedback then they will give update

Play store working like charm.. It happened for first time only.. maybe the playstore or its services might be getting updated.

Update: Problem Persists
It's still the same, with latest Play store 5.0.31, and Latest Play services. I believe it's not these apps at fault here. When an update is being downloaded, the download is actually handled by the stock Download Manager app and not the play store itself. This can be checked by long pressing the download notification and going to App Info. So That must be malfunctioning here.
My phone has "Download Manager version 4.4.4-1379542". Can someone who is not facing this problem please confirm what version his phone is using?
Also, clearing this download manager's Defaults doesn't resolve the issue.

Hey,
try installing the new playstore 5.0
first stop existing playstore app, clear data and cache, then remove your registered gmail accounts from settings, reboot and install new apk.
This should definitely solve all playstore related problems.,

Google apps update stuck in download

I do not have a clue as to what is causing this but I know it is becoming very tiresome. When some apps that are automatically updated they seem to get stuck in permanent download mode. On the apps page it is shows a continuously streaming blue line but no indication as to how much date has downloaded. I have tried deleting and reinstalling, cleared cache in the app, Playstore and Google framework, etc and nothing helps.
Update, I belive I found the problem. Go to Download mgr and clear it‘s cache. Mine had 223mb in it.
Didn't help me any. I think it's a problem with google. I see it happen on all my android devices...long, long wait then all of a sudden the file starts installing.

How to keep apps from Play Store from auto-updating when manual updating?

So there's a well-known app in the Google Play Store that has been updated - I don't like this new version.
Before I updated, I saved a copy of the version I had on my phone, locally. After updating, I didn't like it. So I removed it, enabled Install from Unknown Sources, and reinstalled the version I *did* like.
Now, when I update apps from Google Play, I do "update all", then go to the app I don't want to update, and click the "x" so that it doesn't update.
The problem is, sometimes it updates anyway, even though I've verified that the app has gone to the "Updates" list and not the apps currently being updated.
It *appears* that this app is somehow forcing its own update, even though I have deselected it.
I'm using a stock android kernel, so I can't keep it from updating across the board. But I'm surprised that when I deselect it before the update process has reached it, it sometimes still updates. Again, it SOMETIMES does this, not every time.
Does anyone know how this process works? How can an app force itself to update even though I've unselected it for update?
What you want to do is open play store, open the app in the market that you don't want to auto update, then, in the top right corner there should be 3 dots, click them and disable auto update, it will disable auto update only for that app and when you hit update all, it will update it.

It's already disabled for auto-update (as are all apps on my phone).
So, unfortunately, that's not it.
If you tap on the clear data button in settings>storage>apps>google play store , the settings" do not Auto update " will be cancelled, and app will return to default settings.
Whatever the settings maybe, google play store and google play services update automatically.

Not sure what you mean; I can surely clear Google Play settings, tho' I've done that many times in the past. What do you think it would clear that would fix this issue, if auto-update is already off?

Installs taking long time

Recently, as I install an app, I'm finding it to take a long time...several minutes.
I just selected Truecaller from the Play Store to install. It's a small app. It moved from the downloading stage to installing, maybe 5 minutes before I started this thread, and is still in installing mode now. Another interesting thing, it does NOT show it installing in the notifications bar.
I've had this happen with other apps as well.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Try clearing cache and data of the play store, in Settings - Apps. Sometimes it just 'hangs'. Canceling and Install again can fix it too.

[help] Yet another thread about GMS in P40 pro

Happy New Year everyone!
So I have a P40 pro with GMS installed since ver.121 but currently on EMUI 11 (.151).
After the EMUI11 the phone started acting a bit weird, so I suppose that something is not right with GMS.
Currently having gsf frozen and I am getting notifications normally ( I only unfreeze every now and then to update apps in playstore), but my BIG problem now is that google maps has stopped working as it should; whenever I input an address and press Start to commence navigation, it goes to the navigation screen and immediately goes back to route overview. This only happens in Gmaps, Waze works normally, however I am using google maps every day so i need that fixed. Tried to wipe cache but no dice.
If GSF is not frozen, whenever I try to open Gmaps it goes to its homescreen for a split second and then crashes.
My main question is, is there any way to try and "fix" GMS by doing only some of the steps in current methods, without having to start from scratch and factory reset my phone? I really cannot go this path again and considering that the above problem aside, it looks like the phone is still usable (google account in place), so are there any safe steps to follow without messing up GMS more than what it is? Could I follow let's say the last 2-3 steps of the guides out there, i.e. clearing cache and uninstalling/installing play services and gsf (without downgrading)??
Is downgrade a must only to enter your google account, or also for doing all the steps?
TIA,
Thanos

im on emui 11, i already had googlifyer installed pre the upgrade and that worked for me to fix the play protect messages - but he also mentions the google maps crash issue.
It does not let me install the play services apks of the link. Although I have play services uninstalled from the phone, i am getting "installation failed" and reason for failure "you already have a newer version of this app", but I dont have the app installed at the moment.
OK, so that's weird. I noticed that when I was getting the notifications suddenly I could see two play services apks the second one having the second SIM icon on the corner. So I uninstalled this one as well and it let me install the apk. Everything went OK, maps and playstore work BUT I keep getting the play not certified error in notifications bar for the second SIM play services, so for now I just silenced the notification.
Any way how to solve this? Never noticed before that I could get playstore error with a sim no.2 icon and the most weird thing is that now there is only one play services app in apps list, but sporadically I was seeing a second one, hence why it was not letting me install an older version, because even tho I uninstalled the normal one, a second one (same ver) was also somewhere hidden.

That could mean you have microg on or fake store services?

If you get the playstore error you have to repeat the fix process on the maps link, I had to do it a few times to fix it.
The other thing which fixes it is icebox freezing gsf but then maps doesn't work so good as it does access location well.
It seems a choice between notifications and no maps or maps and no notifications...
Uninstall and install Maps few times ... if Maps (last version) continues with errors, try version 10.49.3.

Is that for the crashing issue or the location issue?
When I had any problems with Maps (on P40 pro or Mate40 pro), crash or location, I used 10.49.3.
Later I tried the latest version a few times, until it worked (on both phones).

Initially I installed Gms with the method available back in September, no micro G involved. After that, I was just freezing gsf with multitool 8 via PC whenever I wanted to unfreeze them to update apps in playstore (I cannot stand aurora store, way too slow and too many clicks, I preferred to unfreeze gsf, reboot, update all apps and freeze with multitool).
Maps with frozen gsf were working just fine on me, even without Google location accuracy the GPS fix was immediate.

As described earlier, I was getting the play certified error by a play services app having a SIM 2 icon, similar to the bottom whatsapp app attached, however after I silenced the notification I only see one play services app in my app list and if I go to notifications settings the play services availability notifications are on, so it is like there is a duplicable play services app hidden somehow.
OK, there we go again.. A few minutes ago play services was updating in notification bar and after that I got attached notification for playstore with sim 2 blue icon (again.. ). When I clicked on the notification it got me to a playstore with sim 2 icon, but when I go to home screen and then go to app list there is no such thing as a sim 2 playstore.
Any ideas? What is going on, I have no idea..

Nope, right now gsf is not frozen, I was just keeping it this way to test the errors and functionality before freezing it
What's with the sim icons in Google apps though? Never seen them before until now
I haven't found a way to remove the play protect errors without freezing gsf unfortunately, I'm sure it can be done but it caused me loads of hassle and I ran through the process a ton of times but only a few times did I manged to have it working with no play errors. I think you have to strip it back clean everything out and start fresh but uninstall icebox too... My config is now with gsf frozen and bar the app store everything is working...

I don't have icebox installed. The method I am using to freeze gsf is multitool 8 in Windows.
FOR the time being there are no play protect errors, but will see till tmrw..

After the most recent Play Store update a lot of buttons stopped working/being unresponsive

Hello everyone,
After the recent Google Play Store update I have issues with multiple buttons being unresponsive to taps (nothing happens when you pressing them).
Already have tried every suggestion provided in the links below:
https://support.google.com/googlepl...store-or-apps-won’t-load-these-steps-can-help
https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7512202
Issue examples:
1. If I go into About section in Settings and tap on Play Store version, I get a pop-up stating that my Play Store is up to day with "Understood" button. If I try to press it, nothing happens, so I need to press "Back" button in order to pop-up to go away.
2. "See all reviews" button being unresponsive either. If you pressing it, nothing happens, all reviews are not being displayed.
3. What is the most important is that "Install" button stopped working either. When I press it, nothing happens, download does not start. Although weirdly enough I still can update already installed apps through Play Store.
As I have mentioned above, I have tried all suggested options below:
- I have removed and added my Google accounts back, then restarted and tried again - did not worked
- I have tried to delete the data and cache for Google Play Store, Google Services, Download Manager, then restarted and tried again - did not worked
- I have enough space on my phone and I am sitting within a meter from my WiFi router, so all these are not an issue.
- I have uninstalled all the updates for Google Play Store - it helps and button issue disappears so I can use Play Store normally for awhile, but only until the moment when Google Play Store forcefully updates itself and buttons issue come back again. Hence uninstall updates is only temporary solution to my problem. Would be nice to have permanent one.
I am on non-modified, non-rooted, stock Oreo 8.0, Xperia XZ1 Compact phone.
Did you report this issue to Google or the phone manufacturer Sony?

I did, they provided me the links in my original post and told me that if it does not help, then perform a factory reset... It is a little bit too big price to pay for fixing a single issue with one app and risking loosing important data on the way + struggling and loosing time with reinstalling all the apps that I have and setting them up.
As for the Sony support, no, I have not contacted them, but I hardly doubt outcome will be any better than Google support. They will probably tell me to do a Factory reset right away, or ask me to upgrade to Pie, which I do not want to, I am perfectly fine on Oreo.
