Question Ringtones - Samsung Galaxy A52 4G

Am I correct to say that ringtones only play through the bottom speaker?
This is my first phone with stereo speaker and I've been a bit disappointed to find that the ringtone only plays through the bottom speaker.

Check the speakers with some testing apps, if it still doesn't work you should go to the Samsung service center.

I've checked on many forums and it is supposed to be like that from factory. This is in case your phone rings when you have it up to your ears and it damages your hearing from the top speaker.
Just to reiterate, my speakers work fine for everything. It is only when the phone rings that it behaves this way. This is a so-called security feature built in Android itself.

I can confirm that this is the case on the A72 too. So not a problem at all!

Z3 Top Speaker Crackle/Buzz

Hey all,
Is it normal for the top speaker to buzz/crackle when certain sounds are played, particularly those that are somewhat bass heavy?
A good example would be the stock notification sounds, as a lot of them cause this. In particular, the Polaris notification sound makes it rattle like crazy. The Aquila ringtone causes it too. These are just 2 of many examples I could pick out.
Test it yourself, is it normal?

This is my 3rd replacement too...
Edit: I opened up my faulty z3 due to be returned, and it also has the issue with the top speaker crackling.
Seems to be normal then. I assume with the top speaker being responsible for the lows, it just couldnt handle the bass at high volumes.
Same here
I just had my first replacement and the problem persists :crying:
I just got the Xperia Z3 this week and noticed this issue as well. I'm a little disappointed because I expected more from the purportedly improved speakers but I guess I'll live with it for now.
I also noticed that the Z3 gets pretty warm if you play music via walkman with the speaker volume at the max. What also bothers me is that there is speaker noise when using the camera app, even with sound disabled.
yeah, my Z3 has the same issue
Even if you are phoning with load speakers on max volume it crackles.
i have the same pb
my top speaker crackles during some calls at max volume...
I hope this is a software related problem...
any news on this?
Well, I don't really have "crackle" but there's a noticeable "static noise" from top speaker whenever it is active (like when watching a movie/video or even when talking to anyone), especially at high volume setting. More than in any other smartphone that I've ever used. And what's more disappointing is that I am currently using a replacement unit, the original unit had EXACTLY the same issue. I really, REALLY hope that it's a software issue and Sony will be able to improve it with future updates and it's NOT because Sony used low-quality speaker or amplifier components
I have top speaker issue after 2months...the speaker crackling sound get higher.,,and really annoying.,, sometimes not even hearing.
What to do?
My phone got 6month older??
How to solve?
Can I go for replacement?
So this is generic Z3 issue bad move for such a pricey phone...
Count me in too..

Xperia Z3 TOP SPEAKER crackle at the maximum volume

My xperia z3 top speaker crackle at the over 80% volume
I noticed this problem on some songs (walkman) or you tube (some videos)
You go to: SETTINGS / SOUND / PHONE RINGTONE / go on the top list, and for example try second song ( AQUILA ) at the maximum volume.
Do you have the same problem on your xperia z3?
I noticed that as well but it seems to only occur on specific sounds for me. I watched a YouTube video at probably 80% volume and heard that crackling. Tried another one even on full volume (both were BF4 gameplay commentaries) and heard nothing but good sound.
Sent from my D6603 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I have the same problem guys :/ the top speaker has more bass and bottom is more low and no bass

I noticed that this problem is present at over 80% volume, too.
I will also check for this.
Just noticed this while listening to music on a youtube video.
Noticed that my top speaker/earpiece will rattle sometimes while on a call, or when playing certain sounds such as ringtones. I wonder if I should exchange or if it's normal (for the z3) seeing as a few people have the same issue.
I replaced mine and I still have rattling during calls, at pretty much any volume. I don't hear it during music though, which makes me wonder if it may be fixed by an update.
Yeah, me also face the problem too.. Very annoying.. Hmmmm
This started to happen to me, I had been using the phone in the pool, three days later I could hardly even hear the top speaker, I ran music through the speakers for one day (taped up the bottom one), hoping it would fix the problem. but It didn't. Now after 6 days it has started to get louder again, so now I can hear callers again and the phone ring. And is now starting to make the sound you all mention here. As you all say very annoying, Sony must have a manufacturing defect on just that speaker.
Does anyone have any idea if this can be fixed with software? If not, the Z3 is going back and I'm getting either the Moto X or the Note 4
happened to me since day 1 as well. Bought in Australia.
In case anyone is wondering, I returned the phone for the Note 4 and the call quality is 10x better... actually the phone is 10x better in pretty much every way including camera. Not that the Xperia was bad at all, but it just didn't feel polished enough... hopefully the Z4 fixes things
Hi,
I could reduce this problem by enabling the "S-Force Front Surround" option in Settings> Sounds> Sound Effects.
I believe that this problem can be solved with a software update that set the correct equalization to remove that rattle from the top speaker.
Regards!
@Djuro89. Try this; fixed it for me

Hi,
This is my current equalizer settings. With this configuration the crackling of the top speaker disappeared. Also deactivated other effect options (ClearAudio+ and Surround).
Regards!
I experience this too, I thought it was water related, I'll give it a try
Hi,
I never put my phone in water.
I believe it is an equalization problem in phone software.
With the equalizer setting that I mentioned in my last post I never had this problem.
Regards!

Hi it annoys me during calls too..
Hello,
i've noticed the same defect on my Z3... It just happens at specified frequencies, i've tried changing equalization's settings and disabling clear audio+ but nothing changes. It looks like a poor speaker quality because if you lower the volume the audio is clear, don't you agree? Thank you.

Just applied new update, now only bottom speaker plays sound

Hey everyone,
last week or so I applied the new update that Sony released. Since then, sound is only being played through the bottom speaker. Does anyone have this issue?
Havent been able to find anything in settings that might relate to this.
The latest Update tunes a few things i guess.. the notifications do work with both speakers but ringtone only works through bottom speakers. I initially Though this was a Smart move by Sony For use with the smart Call handling feature (To not make your ears bleed when taking phone calls).. but it seems Sony just made a mistake!!

The notification and ringtone doesnt bother me that much. But when I wanna watch a video I dont see the point of only using one speaker... It seems more like the upper speaker has been lowered by like 80% (as I can still hear a tiny bit if I put my finger on the bottom speaker and ear to the upper to listen).
Still looking for help.

What firmware are you using right now? I also have a D6653 version and I'm planning to upgrade as well..
Right Now i am using 23.0.1.A.5.77 which i guess is the latest version available.. I Havn't Recieved Any other Updates..
But I Have to say, a lot of people are having a bit of Battery drain issue with this firmware update.. i Certainly am facing it.. so Make Your Choice accordingly

[Q] Need confirmation on headset call performance

If you use a headset/earbuds with an in-line mic to handle calls, I would appreciate it if you could confirm one thing for me.
During a call, do you hear your own voice (and surrounding noise) through your own headset?
I've never had a smartphone send the audio picked up by my own mic straight back to my own ears during calls. I'm trying to figure out if this is normal behavior for this device or if I have a problem.
u can try turning on microphone noise suppression... i bet its the other side using hands free where his/her mic picks up the loudspeaker and sends it back to you... did happen to me a couple of times and was fixed by the other side switching back to earpiece/headset instead of handsfree loudspeaker.. anyways if the problem still exists try upgrading/downgrading F/W .. if that didnt help simply take it back using the warranty
o and might wanna try a different headset if yours could be the culprit

Hi Mazroui, thanks for the response. I'm certain it's my own mic and not the other end. Here's how I tested - Bring up dialer, dial any number, hit call. As soon as I hit call, I can hear all the noise coming in from my own mic into my ears, no one is even on the other end of the line yet as the phone is still ringing. If I rub my finger across the in-line mic of my headset, all the rustling noise is sent right back to myself.
I wish I could say it was the other person on the other end of the line, but I'm definitely hearing the noise from my own mic during calls for some reason.
So I take it your phone doesn't do this?

I don't hear my own voice through the microphone on my Bower & Wilkins p5.

Yeah, I tested with 4 or 5 different headsets, all stereo. A basic Panasonic set, Apple EarPods, Bose QC20 (Android version), Bose QC25, and I even have the Sony Active Noise Cancelling earbuds which only function with the Xperia devices, and even those send the audio from the mics back into my ears.
Each of these headsets work perfectly fine in other devices I have such as Google Nexus 5, Motorola Moto X 2014, iPhone 5S, and others.

did u test if the phone was water proof XD maybe got something in the jack ? anyways with a problem like that id definitely use that warranty and save my self the hassle..
phone isn't supposed to do such a thing and with that many headsets tested u can prove it to the service center and ask for a replacement with no questions asked
Android404 - Thank you for the confirmation!

Yeah, I did a check to make sure the phone was waterproof using the service menu to test the phone pressure. It's never been in any water at all, closest it has ever been is on the bathroom sink while I'm taking a shower.
Yeah, I'm going to have to go down the warranty route I think.
wish u all the best
Thank you sir!

Call quality

Not sure if any one has this "issue" when calling without a headset but does sounds of your calls seem better from back of the phone? I have noticed when calling (no speaker, and no headset) the callers sounds seems be louder from the back of phone (as if the speaker was installed backwards).

The sound of earpiece also comes out a bigger hole which is on top of the phone, next to sim card tray. Maybe that is what is happening?

Was thinking the same. Not sure seems odd they would miss something this simple. Unless it is just my phone.

Samsung made the hole in the top for the air to escape as the front earpiece slit is too narrow and wasn't enough
