Question Frozen Gyro - ASUS ROG Phone 5 / 5s

Is anyone experiencing issue with the gyro stuck or frozen in random direction when launching a game/app occasionally? Closing the app and relaunching will usually resolve the issue. I've only seen it after upgrading to WW18.0840.2106.86 although can't say for sure if it;s the update..

I haven't noticed any issues like this. Is it happening with all of your apps, or specific ones? Let me know and I can test on my device.

A couple only. I need to check if it's specific to the game/app I experience this on since nobody seems to have the problem. Could be my device has a bad gyro sensor but I doubt it's a hardware problem..

Update: Resolved. App Manager was blocking a controller activity within the game incorrectly identidifed as a tracker. I may be guilty of having blocked it myself while I was blocking the ads.

I don't think it's the same issue. If you haven't messed with blocking components in your game, there is nothing to unblock. Mine would completely freeze in a random direction. Check instead if you have any air gestures setup in Game Genie that may be disturbing. If you do, turn it off and see if it helps.

nope dosnt work, set entry to decimal and put 999999 closed and did not do anything inside or outside Opera... what im talking about is a global fix.. not for certain apps as what it appears you linked me to.
bump for fix
AFAIK by default the accelerometer is only working in the HTC Album and Opera Mobile. How is this causing you any issues? Could it be possible that you have some g-sensor program start the support when the device starts?

hmm thats strange, its happening in every program and causing some to crash.. maybe its the ROM i have.. ill try upgrading this weekend.
This is usually not a "ROM problem" specifically.
But your installed rom may include some software that uses the g-sensor to make your screen rotate. Changescreen, gyrator or g-sen are some examples of such software.
This is what you have to tweak so that all apps do not rotate automatically.
But you definitely can't "turn off the g-sensor".... just add crashing apps to the rotating software black list.

Multi-touch losing touch points

This morning I noticed something odd happening with multi-touch controls while playing a game (Cordy). Whenever I would jump, I would then stop moving as if the controls stopped responding. I tried basic troubleshooting, restarting the app, closing other apps, rebooting the phone etc, but the problem persisted.
So I then downloaded a multi-touch testing app from the Play store to see if this was an issue with the controls in the game or with the phone, and found that when I have two touch points on the screen and then release one - like for example pressing the jump button in a platformer - the screen loses both touch points.
So, after all that, I was curious if anybody else is having this issue with their phone. This is not the first time I've played a game on my phone, nor even the first time I've played Cordy...but I've never noticed this before. Can anybody confirm this is related to the implementation of multi-touch on the One X and not an defect with my particular unit?
Does the G-nex or other phones have a similar implementation of multi-touch?

I did kind of notice something that sounds like it's in the same ballpark. I bought NBA Jam for my One X and it plays well, but I noticed that sometimes it seems like if I am still moving (using left touch) I sometimes cannot hit the buttons. I thought it might have been a calibration issue, but it does sound very close to what you were mentioning. Anyone else seen this?
I used this app as well as this app to test, if anybody else would like to try it for themselves.

I just tried out the first app and I cannot replicate your problem. I can use all 10 of my fingers at the same time and remove any at will without losing any other touch points.
I've seen a thread on this before and the problem is probably worthy of invoking your warranty over.
Thanks for the links. I just tested and it looks like there are only 2 touch points and then becomes unresponsive to touch inputs. Does anyone know if this is a hardware limitation or software?

Edit: I turned off HTC Gestures in the Display and Gestures option in Settings and I am up to 10 points now.
Just an update, this appears to be an issue related to the use of WidgetLocker. Disabling WidgetLocker allows me to remove a contact point on the screen with out losing all of them, enabling WidgetLocker brings the issue back. I messed around with some settings in WidgetLocker but could not find a solution to this issue. I'll try contacting the developer and seeing if this is a bug with WidgetLocker that can be fixed, or perhaps an issue with Sense 4.0.

Do you have HTC gestures enabled on the phone? Once I turned them off I was able to multitouch with 10 points again.
I have widget locker installed as well. I have the amazon version 2.2.4 which isn't the current version. Widget locker on the amazon app store is version 2.2.4 and on the google play store is 2.2.7 so if you installed the amazon one it is out of date...like a lot of apps on the amazon store theses days it seems.
Aaron
Nope, I disabled HTC gestures on day one (just not a feature I'm interested in), however I did enable it after you brought it up and noticed the same thing you did.
With regards to Widget Locker, I'm using the latest version from the Play store - in fact, I just purchased Widget Locker last night, which would explain why this issue just cropped up! However, I'm glad to hear that Widget Locker does in fact work for you guys... I just have to figure out what is causing the multi-touch conflict on my phone.

Exercise app turns off early

I'm having an intermittent issue (1 in 20 times) whereby the exercise app I use just turns off before I'm done. I've used the same app for years without issue, but notice its on Mate-9 or Android-7 as an issue? Any suggestions please? I've tried other apps and same has happened on this device so I'm thinking not an app issue.
I am having the same issue with some gaming apps

It could happen when you're using old-api application and internal task-killer preferred to unload your app from memory.
Press square button to get recent apps and press icon with lock to hold app always in memory.

Thanks for that idea. I tried it and so far so good. I will continue this method for next few weeks to see if it solves the problem 100%.

No luck I'm afraid. I tried three times successfully using this method then the forth time it was back to the usual rubbish result of app stopping early during the exercise with the lock to hold app in lock position.
I'm open to other ideas please? As it stands the Mate-9 has proved useless to monitor fitness routines. I've written to Huawei support about it (in London UK) and they just say to wait for an o/s update in future!
I suggest you to give up on it. Huawei phones can't work correctly with sports tracking app for YEARS. Probably all their phones have same issues. Just google it and you will find other suckers like us.
Also, Mate 9 is completely inaccurate during the time it tracks (pre-crash). It must be related with different problem - GPS sucks too. Look for GPS thread in this forum to keep you updated.
Last version of Strava app shows in-app alert which says that their app can't work correctly with my device (Mate 9). It still allows me to use it. So, they gave up on us.
My suggestion is to get some old/backup phone and use it for tracking. E.g. I'm using my good old faithful Samsung Galaxy S4.

This phone is looking worse and worse every day I wonder if it will support at least MiFit and Mi Band fitness tracker? Can't crash there, right?!
Anyone found a solution to this yet please? On my Mate-9 - now build B189 the problem seems to be that my exercise app using GPS stops working anytime after about 70 minutes of exercise (I cycle outdoors). If I interact with the app during exercise (such as pause - resume) every hour I can continue recording the exercise for full duration, otherwise after around 70 minutes my apps stop without notice. On other devices same apps work. Seems to be an issue with my Mate-9, anyone else notice this and or fix it?

Since Huawei updated me to Android 8 the problem no longer exists. Its taken a year to get to love this phone. I still cannot get myself to like the Mate-10 so will stay with this as I now for the first time since owning the Mate-9 have no issues at all with it.

Nope, problem is not fixed in Oreo. At least with Strava. It still crashes during longer pauses.

I use a bike computer but was having issues with Strava live tracking, I think I have it resolved but not totally sure.
For some bizarre reason there are two places to exclude apps from power management:
Settings/Apps & notifications/Apps/Settings/Special access/Exempt from battery optimization/*Drop Down* All apps/*Allow/Don't Allow*
&
Settings/Battery/Launch/*Toggle On/Off*

Do not disturb (Schedule) auto delete

Hello Everyone,
There is a problem between Do not disturb (Schedule) and Game priority mode (Game Booster). For example, the Do not disturb (Schedule) was set (10:00PM - 7:00AM), and I started playing game (in the schedule period) with Game priority mode On. When I finished the game, the Do not disturb (schedule) was no longer exist or auto delete itself, so I had to reschedule.
There is used to be not a problem untill the last patch, 1 May 2021.
Hope you, guys can help, thanks.
I've experienced the same issue. it is obviously a bug which needs to be reported via Samsung members app or their orums etc

Yes, of course.. already reported. Hope to get the fix with the next update. Anyway thanks for confirming that I am not alone.
Recently I just found another solution which you need to uninstall the update of Game Booster, and it is temperately fixed.

Good to know about the workaround. I've created a bixby routine to enable dns. Will see if it works.

Question upgrade + finger print

On Friday I updated my rog pgone 5 to the latest version. yesterday suddenly the fingerprint sensor stopped working, restart the factory mobile and solve it, but at 24 hours the same thing happened again.
does anyone know what happens?
Seems to be a common issue. A log when it happens may help to find a fix.
There is a lot of log spam to dig through, so I wasn't able to pull one on-the-fly

I don't have a fix without knowing the issue, hence suggesting a log.
Looks like a missing vendor style xml, unless that's a unique issue.

I have been able to solve it, I did a system erase + deactivate facial recognition + fingerprint. turn off the device, turn it on again, turn everything on again and restart. for now it works. When I charge the phone, I hope it won't happen again. (After charging the phone, it gets quite hot and the sensor stops working.)
Alright, well good luck with that.

today I have recharged the mobile and again with the same. but now I don't even have the option to activate or deactivate the sensor.
How can I install or restore the vendor style xml file?
