Hello,
about two years ago I purchased myself a nice head unit for my BMW (PX5) and it has been working nice since then, but it's on Android 9 and Google Maps won't update on my unit anymore, even though the maps themselves are being updated no problem. I fear that there will be no more updates for my apps if I won't do something about it and replacing the head unit is out of the question. I'd like to know how to upgrade my unit to newer Android version and if it's even possible. Disclaimer - I've never done that before so I'd like to do it as safely as possible so I won't accidentaly brick it because of a wrong software or something
The specs listed in the device are as follows:
Android version: 9
Compilation number: rk3358-userdebug 9 PQ2A. 190305.002 20190612.101357 test-keys
Kernel version: 4.4.167
MCU version: MTCE_CHS_V3.02_1
Also, there are MCU update and device update buttons in the settings, but the device won't do anything when I press the device update button and MCU update one tells me that there is no MCU file. What is this?

I searched and found a thread about how to root my device and install firmware. So, I rooted first which worked. Then I tried a firmware from this site, namely MaPan7650B. When I did this my tablet boots up like all is well but my touch screen does not respond anymore. So, I need help removing this firmware to go back to defaults. I have no idea how to do it.
I'm desperate.

Android version: 4.0.3
Kernel Version: 3.0.8

First, you should need to know which actual model of your MID.
MaPan & a few variants model mostly came from Eken W70 by different modules, mostly they change using different Touch Panel Chip Controller, you should have know it.
Even Eken W70 is came from different PCB version that they modified the board quite frequently.
Try to browse the "FirmwareInstall\config" folder, you should see the Brand name & Model no. .fwc file.
To select the right one to flash your device is just put the "+" in front the .fwc file.
If you haven't found one suitable, just try to search the different source of W70 WM8850 firmware, you might see a collection of different .fwc config file there.
Give a few tries, then you should able to find out what Touch Panel Controller is using.
Is there somewhere a website where i can download stock roms or almost stock roms for my head unit?
I upgraded my system from PX3 to PX5 some months a go by purchasing a PX5 som board from witson.
My SOM board is from the seller witson and has MCU:
MTCD_HLA_V2.52_1
Currently my PX5 head unit (rk 3386) is runing latest Malayks rom.
I want to set the unit back to stock rom but do want root access and xposed installed, a factory reset will not set back the original rom, sadly i do not have a backup of the rom.
I only have the original rom from my PX3 som board, don't believe i can use this ROM on my PX5 board.
Also i am looking for newest MCU, my seller reports they do not have this unit anymore and the new unit is currently on android 7, the last MCU they had was 2.52 and they have no newer ones,
The manuafactor is Hualingan (= HLA), maybe someone as a newer MCU which i can download?
Hello, I have a Winca S160 Rockchip rk3188 radio with android version 4.4. The radio started to work terribly slow due to the lack of android update. Is it possible to update the android somehow to a newer one?
I don't think an upgrade will make it speedier: consider to reset phone to factory defaults.
Hi,
Which Model and Version do you have now? Model? Build? MCU?
Easiest way is to post a photo of your About Device screen which is at the bottom of the Settings Menu
If you cannot get to the Device screen, can you post a photo of the barcode label on the back of the radio or on the box it came in?
I don't want you to install the wrong firmware.
You can go to your settings menu and clear all cache and downloads and other memory hogging apps. This will make you unit run a bit faster.
Regards, Leigh.
Hi everyone, I'm kinda new here so this topic might have been up but couldn't find on a search. I have a Android head unit px6 MCU rk3399 rockchip for a 2012 Sierra Denali and it has no buttons other than a small reset hole that only restarts the unit. I was able to root it runs Android 9 but I can't get viper4android or any type dolby installed because when updating the su binary it bricks the unit. Also cannot get to bootloader. It's like it doesn't have one. Tried reiboot for Android and can get it to recovery but that's it. I was curious if anyone has been able to figure this thing out. Like installing a custom recovery, TWRP... Any advice would help. Also I was wondering if it is possible to create a bootable Android flash drive for Android 9? Thanks in advance and if I'm out of line asking or if I'm in the wrong place asking this you could tell me to f-off and I'll understand
Hi. Somebody knows what to do when MCU updating was failed? When i click install new MCU and android reboot, the screen was black and the buttons on radio was blinking all the time. After 4 minutes of this i press reset button and radio don't work anymore. I chosed correct MCU like was in my radio - mtce_mx 3.83 from xda... I plug out power cables from the unit and this don't help.
Or do you know where is MCU module located? On motherboard or coreboard? I can buy new coreboard and replace when it helps.
Read forums information is all there. Unless you can do basic stuff like read and hardware level identifying components, unit is a brick.
I'll say it again - MCU is not android. Don't update MCU unless there is a known reason to - if it's working don't update MCU
Ok but i can't find what to do and where is mcu on motherboard
