I have tried XiaomiTool, which resulted in a brick.
I had to factory reset from the recovery, then it turned on, which resulted in all GApps disappearing. Got a 550mb OTA which brought them back.
I read that i can root by using Developer rom, but that is only available in the chinese version.
There is no global developer rom. Please show me how to root this phone, i already bricked it once on the first day.
Android 4.4.4
MIUI 6.5.3.0 Stable.

Xiaomi.eu's ROMs have Google Apps and root. 5.7.2 is perfect, haven't tested latest yet.
Which one should I Download?
There are so many links, none of which seem right for the Mi4.
And it says in the post that they are without root?

Thanks a ton. I am used to a nexus 4 so all this seems new to me.
Is there a guide to flash this? I wouldn't mind wiping data this one time.
What method Should i use to Update, by keeping data?
Thanks again.
PS isnt there something like this based on the global version?
What is the difference between this and the one from the MIUI website Chinese developer rom?
Easiest way is from MIUI Updater app, "..." from up right, choose update package... Can try dirty flash first, If there is problems/apps fc do factory reset.

And what about the difference between Chinese MIUI Developer official and xiaomi.eu roms?
Thanks.
Xiaomi.eu weekly roms are based on those chinese developer versions so dirty flash might work. They disable chinese only apps and features and add languages.

I have installed it and it is working great.
One major problem, Everytime i install an APK, it asks me to grant permission, and only lets me allow it once after waiting 10 seconds.
There is no Allow Unknown Sources Checkbox.
Please help, it is very annoying as i have so many APKs to install on the new phone.
EDIT: Nevermind, I found the setting.
Thanks a lot for your Help.

Hi again, have you tried the latest rom?
Nothing happens if i just install it, but after i restore about 50 apps, it starts rebooting. Every 2-3 minutes.
Not sure What to do.
Have tried a factory reset.
No i am still with 5.7.2, no hurry to upgrade.
Restoring apps could cause problems sometimes, try clean install. (I open all favorite apps in Firefox and and bookmark them so i can use "Open All in Tabs" and install them easily for any device.)

How is your battery life on those roms?
I am getting horrible battery life with like 1% drain every minute even when I'm not using it.
And I keep getting "com.Google.gapps has stopped.
I've wiped everything, clean install.
Please help.

There was some problems in this weeks original, did you try 5.7.26 hotfix? (Im still at 5.7.2, that should be better with battery and Gapps are working.)

Do you recommend I Install 5.7.2 or the Latest Hotfix?
Haven't tried latest, but can confirm 5.7.2 is working fine so try that. Usually i upgrade only after couple people say it's working good on Mi4 in Xiaomi.eu MIUI Weekly ROM Releases forum.

Do I need to make a full wipe to downgrade or just flash with the updater app?
Do full wipe because com.Google.gapps has stopped problem.
After reading on all the forums about Mi4C, I could not evaluate if MIUI ROMs are better with respect to custom ones. I think they're heavier, and as I don't care about features and customization, I was wondering which is the ROM which "could be flashed once and forgotten".
I'm a basic user, few apps, some photos, GPS navigation. It is important to underclock the CPU as we know out Snap 808 heats a lot.
All I search in a ROM is: stability, security, no frequent updates, good photos, lightweight, battery friendly.
Are there people with similar usage patterns which could advise me?
Thanks in advance.
If you want a stable daily rom which supports all the features of your phone, i would go with a debloated original rom (e.g. mi-globerom). If you want the newest features and u want to test some mods, i would go with Lineage/ResurrectionRemix but camera isn't best...
Mi-globe Lollipop or Nougat? Does Nougat still lock the bootloader at each flash on this one too?
I would take the nougat version as it has various optimizations and is also updated more frequently.
However, your bl will ALWAYS be locked if you flash from Nougat to Lollipop or Lollipop to Nougat but if you are on nougat bl and reflash the nougat rom it wont lock again.
Btw, u need to go through the miui unlock procedure once and then you have a "dev" account on which u can unlock (nearly) as many phones as you want without re-applying every time... it takes 5mins to unlock bl again then.
edit:
If you flash around a lot, stay on lollipop as there are more ROM's for it. Otherwise (and if you like MIUI) its worth to just update to Nougat bl, unlock (wait for the unlock-token to arrive before you upgrade to nougat), flash newest mi-globe and forget about the rom as everything will be working and batterie is ok (especially with gov-tuner mod).
If camera is high priority, then you need to stick with a MIUI based ROM like xiaomi.eu or Globe ROM.
I'm on AOSP Extended - AEX - (build from 2017/06/16) - Nougat BL - and I think I'll stick to this until MIUI 9 makes debut: good SOT - 3-4h, it's fast, it has many custom settings without cluttering. The only bug I found that could bug other people is that "Prevent accidental wake up" has no effect.
But regarding camera, I never rely on stock camera app (unless it's MIUI Camera on MIUI ROM). For a few weeks I'm using snapdragoncamera_v3.zip (flashed in TWRP) but you can choose from a wide range of apps if you have an account on a very well known Russian forum (I wont name it 'cause I don't know if it violates XDA terms but you can PM me).
Thank you, I think I'll go with mi-globe and I'll apply the MOD MI4C Charged (present here on xda). I have to unlock the bl sending the request and then flash the ROM, right? (I'm on an old lollipop MIUI8 xiaomi.eu dev).
Which is the gov-tuner mod you are talking about?
Thanks, so that ROM's bug makes the screen activate whenever the phone perceives movement?
About the cameras, I have the account on that site, which camera do you suggest for a not-MIUI ROM?
If the option is activated, when a notification arrives the screen should stay off if the sensor is covered and light up is the sensor is not covered. If we keep the phone in a pocket, for example, the screen should not light up. But in this ROM, if the option is on, the screen lights up not matter if the sensor is or is not covered. I can live with this, because ROM is good in many aspects.
About the camera, I'm using snapdragoncamera_v3.zip, but not from that forum. A Better Camera also seemed to me very good, its interface can be customized for your needs and produces good results. Feel free to experiment, there are many camera apps.
You can select the GOV-Tuner mod in the rom builder on MI-globerom website. However, if you use the MI4C Charged mod (didnt try this one by myself) make sure GOV-tuner mod is unticked, otherwise you will have problems.
To unlock BL:
1. Make sure you are on MIUI rom and logged into your Xiaomi account on the device.
2. Send the unlock request to Xiaomi
3. Wait for them to grant you the unlock
4. Flash newest miui DEV rom (best would be with Xiaomis flash tool)
5. Unlock BL
6. Flash TWRP over Fastboot
7. Flash MI-Globerom (dont boot it yet)
8. Unlock BL again/Flash TWRP again if necessary (shouldnt)
8. Flash supercharged mod
9. Boot the rom for the first time
I know that it may be a hardware fault.
I made this thread, to see if other people face the same problem after the pie update.
The phone is unrooted (my wife uses it) and after the stable pie update, the fingerprint in settings is gone, also it does not respond to touches at all.
I flashed the latest beta 9.5.9 without rooting it and it still the same problem.
I read in various threads that many people having this issue, but I haven't found anything specific for this phone.
Any feedback will be welcomed.
I have the same problem, please can anyone tell us how can we fix this??
Try 10.3.3.0
I have this problem too for almost 2 months.
I have tried beta builds, MIUI 9, stable and others ROM's like Pixel Experience but nothing works.
I have been investigating a lot, not only with phones from Xiaomi, I tried with LG, Samsung, etc and I couldn't find a solution, but looking for one I discovered that the option to change the region was missing too, in MIUI 9, 10, and others ROM, from setting and from initial configuration, I can't change my region and I started thinking that the problem is about the cust partition, this partiton is a copy of apps ,and language packs that get installed as per region on first boot or when user changes its region (country) (I found this in at Xiaomi Official Forum). Maybe after the update somthing didn't work well and "corrupted" that partition.
Any ideas?
Hi all,
When I got the Mix 3 I was running EU MIUI as my daily driver, that was MIUI 10 back then. Bluetooth absolute volume was working fine back then.
I own a pair of Sony WF-1000xm3 and since EU MIUI 11 or the last Sony update of these headphones I can't get bluetooth absolute volume to work on the mix 3 with MIUI. I have been using AOSP based roms for half a year now but the unstability (alarms not functioning because of a soft reboot during the night for example) made me go back to MIUI.
Using any AOSP rom the absolute volume works fine and it was working fine half a year ago on MIUI 10 with the Developer option absolute volume.
I have flashed MIUI 10 from half a year ago but I just can't get absolute volume to function. Since my bluetooth speakers that also support absolute volume don't function like they should aswell on MIUI I'm suspecting something else is wrong in my configuration. Even reflashing using Mi Flash Tool to global rom doesn't solve my issue and different firmwares also didn't solve my problem.
Who can help me?
Don't know about the volume problem, but the reboot overnight is caused by a wireless charging bug in AOSP, although on mine it's a hard reboot all the way back to the bootloader, not just a soft reboot of the rom.
Well, it seems I have magically resolved it.
In what I believe I haven't done anything different this time than previous tries I have done, but these are the steps I have taken (from memory)
Reflashed fastboot global rom using Mi Flash tool and relocked the bootloader.
Booted the rom, unlock bootloader check in developer options
Unlock the bootloader using Mi Unlock Tool
Flash TWRP and flash MIUI 11 EU weekly rom, boot
Format data and wipe all storage options except internal storage in TWRP
Flash pixelexperience rom, boot
Format data and wipe all storage options in TWRP
Flash MIUI 11 EU weekly rom, go to developer options and disable the 'disable absolute volume' check.
Pair bluetooth headphones.
And suddenly it works! It might be that some steps seem unnecesary but I have tried so many times using different patterns that I will keep using above pattern.
Hope this helps someone someday if he/she faces the same issues as I did.
Finally enjoying my mp3 player with phone capabilities again

I was looking to get the Sony WF-1000XM3s, is LDAC working properly on Xiaomi.eu in MIUI 11? I'm on MIUI global stable 10.3.2.0 right now and I can't select any codecs aside from SBC (AAC is the only one my headphones support but still) and I'm kind of sick of it. I was thinking of jumping ship to Xiaomi.eu anyway but I'm a little apprehensive about how well it works in the US

I have enabled LDAC in developer options but it doesn't seem to make a difference in comparison with AAC or SBC.

If you look at the device in your Bluetooth settings does it say LDAC next to it, showing it's actually being used? Because I know that has historically been an issue as well, where you select a codec in Dev Options but it doesn't actually change and then reverts back to SBC as soon as you close the settings.
Even if AAC works it would still be a marginal upgrade over SBC which is what I'm stuck with now.

No, it still says AAC, so that doesn't seem to be working.

Just realized only the over-ear WH-1000xm3's support LDAC so your bluetooth is working as it should.
hello people, I have a small Problem, i have a redmi Note 11 Pro 5g global bought over Amazon in Germany, before i got it i checked for sure that it will get a12 now in my news app they are talking about the Note 11 Pro 5g will get a12, the last Update was only November Security Patch.
and cuz' i read a Bit more about it there are custom Roms, but without twrp so If it gets updatet i need to Reset my Phone again.
sooo is there a way currently to get me a12 or a newer Version with OTA Updates?
since in the MIUI Downloader App there is a global MIUI 13 a12 Rom, with Recovery i read so much about those Things now i dont have a clue anymore i'll attach some Screenshots downbelow.
If there is a Option with only one time resetting the Phone i would do it, with a safe Guide thanks for Reading.

If you checked that the update is for your device, then you can take it, and flash it through your stock recovery.
By taking the other route, i.e. flashing a custom recovery, and so on, you always can return totally to stock, to take the update you want, if it is available. Also, when some TWRP appears (based on your words), then you can flash any stock ROM, that is prepared to be flashed through recovery.

Sorry for delay, I will show you with images.
Go to Settings/about phone:
Then open it, and tap on 13
Then tap 7 times on 13 Miui 13, to have more options
Then go to the three dots, up to the right, then you'll see the options to flash the package to your device, download the latest ROM package, and navigate to it, then your device will make the rest. Be sure to enable USB debugging previously, and set all the drivers correctly, to have more options, just in case.
