Question App Drawer Delay in Loading apps... anyone have a fix? - OnePlus 9

As the title suggests, when I swipe up on the app drawer, there are times where it's 2-3 seconds to load the apps. It shows as nothing there for several seconds then loads them all. I feel like this is a battery optimization thing, but dunno the service/app name for the app drawer/launcher on Oneplus to make sure that's not optimized.
Anyone have any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is when you reboot your phone and quickly put in your pin and then you swiping up at the same time to open the App Drawer, the icons haven't loaded yet.
Other than that. The phone is faster than anything Ive ever seen or used.

Nah, it's not that. This will happen several times a day. I turned off battery optimization, so I guess we'll see how it goes. Still, would be nice to know what the Launcher is called so I can turn battery optimization back on without it affecting the app drawer.

Google Voice lag?

Hi,
Relatively new the android, I have been using Nokia for the most time.
Lately on my captivate I found out that when I press the google voice app it takes substantially longer to open. I mean much longer than other apps - maps, gmail etc. I am on WIFI, so it shouldb't be a connection problem.
Has anyone seen this problem?
Thanks!
Occasionally, when I do open the app, it takes a while. This is usually after a reboot, however. After the first open, the app backgrounds and opens up very quickly.
Thanks.
But this happens to me all the time, it takes like 3 seconds to open.
I to have the same issue. A good 3-5 sec delay. I am using LauncherPro, have no idea if that has anything to do with it.
yea, i am using launcherpro too..
I noticed this too. I just made a habit of hitting home to get out of the app rather than back-ing out and closing it. If it's cached/running it opens instantly.
Also, I applied RyanZA's ext2 lagfix and it fixed this completely so it's probably an I/O "issue".
that sounds like a good idea.
I haven't used any fix yet. I think i am going to wait for froyo or custom roms to come out and see the difference.
now my phone is completely stock not rooted or anything.

suddenly crashing today

So I updated a few apps (colorize widget, Go Launcher, and a news app) shortly after, I start having crashing issues. when the lock screen comes up, it gives me the message to swipe one direction to start using the phones, or swipe down to adjust settings, as if it was the first time I turned on my phone after buying. problem is, after I swipe either way, it freezes halfway through the opening animation, then the screen goes black for several seconds, then I see my home launcher restarting, reloading widgets and all. shortly after that, I re-receive the most recent text message i'd gotten. this repeats and repeats, I've tried a few times now.
I thought the Go Launcher update was the problem, but it happened after switching to Launcher Pro as well. any ideas what's causing?

Having different launchers and a lot of widgets can bog down your system, especially GO launcher. I would suggest heading over to the development section and rooting + custom rom. You can check fawkreview's bible thread for eveything you need to do, it will make your phone twice as fast and you shouldn't have issues like that anymore.

[Q] Slow Home Behavior

Hello everyone!
Let me start off by saying that i'm actually using an unrooted, officially update nexus 5, updated to the latest 5.0.1
I have no problem whatsoever, battery really seem to have improved, but lately i've been getting a strange behavior
After a period of use (it goes from a couple of days to a whole week) the phone oddly slows down when i press the middle button, to return back to the homescreen.
For example, if I'm using the facebook app, and watch a couple of videos along with opening a few external links, when i press the home button, the whole home "loads" from start. I mean, i literally see nothing for a second, then it slowly loads widgets and icons. After it's been loaded, everything works flawlessly again, but if i open facebook again, use it for a while and press the home screen, it loads again.
Mind that i have no custom drawer (i tried Themer, it gives me the same error, it says "loading homescreen" when the problem appears) but the problem is still there with the stock homescreen. I tried force-closing the apps i used, thinking about a memory issue, but to no avail. I have to turn off and turn on the device, and everything works wonders again.
Is there any app that could help me with this issue? I'd like to understand why it's doing this and which app is slowing down my phone.

I am not Sure whether this is 100% sure, But have heard that there is a memory leak issue in lollipop. Which might be the reason of ur problem. And the oly way get enough memory is to restart. But again, I am not Sure whether the above information is correct though.

I've heard that too, but it's strange that it has appeared only now. I haven't had this kind of issue ever since i updated it.
The FB app is just real buggy. My personal theory is whatever that app does exposes the Lollipop memory leak.

Yep i know about that, the FB app is just horrible script-wise. Nevertheless, i've never had THIS problem. And even if i forceclose it, it doesn't solve the problem anyway.

Pressing the back button to exit an app sometimes takes me to other random apps

I've been having this problem for a long time, accross different devices and OS's.
The thing is that, sometimes, if I exit an app using the back button, instead of going to the homescreen I'm sent to other apps that had been previously open (but also closed). Pressing the back button again in whatever app it opened, would often take me to other apps until I finally get the homescreen.
This doesn't happen all the time, but it is quite often and annoying.
Any Idea what can this be about and how to fix it?
I'm using Nova Launcher (prime), which I suspect may have something to do with it.
Thanks in advance.

This happens to me, too, on occasion. It seems that it always happens if I launch an app directly from the app I'm currently using, and with certain apps, every once in a while, I get what you're getting. My solution has been to use the app ATK, or Advanced Task Killer. It's simple to use - just kill apps when you're done using them - and it also drastically lengthens my battery life. I'd highly recomend it.

Question Icons in folders on home screen are getting rearranged.

This problem has been going on for about a week. I have 5 folders on my home screen and the apps in one folder keep getting rearranged. I'll fix it and then after a few hours if changes again.
Additionally the bottom part of the homescreen with the default apps (these aren't in a folder) gets rearranged too.
Not sure why this is happening. Has anyone encountered this? Is there a fix for this?
Thanks!
I just reported a similar problem with the default icons rearranging themselves at the bottom of the home screen to Samsung support. This is despite the fact that I have the Home Screen layout locked in Settings. I thought that it might have something to do with the use of the Good Lock Home Screen app. Are you using this app too by any chance?
Did you lock home screen layout?
The only way the folder content should alter if this is enabled is if you package block an app in that folder.
Clear system cache.
Yes, I have my home screen locked. I have several folders on my home screen, but I haven’t noticed if the icons in these folders are also getting rearranged. Are you using the Good Lock Home Up app? I read somewhere that this can cause this problem with icon arrangement.

Yeah I am using good lock
I just locked the homescreen hopefully that works, I've already cleared cache in recovery. That didn't make a difference.
It's weird though I've never had to lock the homescreen before.

So still doing it? Does it happen when you close then reopen the folder?

I have a lot of things blocked, can't for the life of me think of which one it is haha. I'll check with the locked homescreen and see if that works, if not I'll have to turn on each thing one by one, and test, which will take forever because its' totally random when it gets rearranged.

Starting with Android 10 Samsung added dozens, maybe a hundred or more small system apks to modify that wretched OS's behavior so One UI be functional as before.
I have two N10+'s, one running on 9, the other 10.
My package disable list for the 10 version is nearly identical to the 9 in spite nearly having 100 more new Samsung system apps. I ignored these new system apks as they don't seem to impact performance. Most likely are needed.
I recommend not touching these as erratic behavior may occur.
Sound familiar?
Go after apps that are known to cause trouble ie excess battery/internet usage and leave the rest alone. Dependencies... some are obvious, some maybe not so much so. Take a more cautious approach.
Many of the Samsung system apps just sit there and do nothing unless needed.

Not sure, I'll have to wait and see. As I said, it's totally random and sometimes only changes after 24 hours. I'll report back. Naw, doesn't happen when I close and reopen the folder. Seemingly random. It was originally the folder, now it's those default apps on the bottom of the homescreen.

Yeah that totally makes sense. I'll keep that in mind if the lockscreen doesn't fix the issue, thanks for the advice!

If it continues...
You might be able to get some clues using Device Care>memory and seeing what apps just cache when it happens.
Or see if clearing it has any effect. Then see what apps pop up. You get the idea.
If you got more than 100 packages disabled you might want to rethink it down to about 80 or so.
Only ones you know aren't needed.
Thanks man, looks like the problem has bene resolved with a screen lock. I will take a look into your suggestions though, as I've never had to lock the screen before to prevent apps from reorganizing themselves within a folder or a dock.

Yeah that's not anything I ever saw before except with busy pocket syndrome.
Probably a setting (maybe a new one), 3rd party app or shiny new Samsung bug.
I recall that bug being caused by changing the recents settings in the homeup module. I think it was caused by one of the recents list options. I read it but can't confirm because I use Nova launcher

May well be. Homeup never ran that good for me so I don't load it now.
Problem happened again after I restarted, I'm going to try all the ideas listed and report back. I use home up, where is this setting you mention?

Found the issue.
Apparently if you use vertical apps list setting for the app drawer this issue arises.
I only switched back to one UI because of this though.
Hopefully Samsung fixes this.
I was using an love Nova launcher but didn't want the additional battery drain of one UI which has to run. Sigh, fix your bugs samsung.

Yay. Easy fix... sort of.
Rather sloppy of Sammy.
Android 9 remains my favorite version.

It's truly not that much battery drain. Using galaxy maxhz to adjust refresh rates for situations that you don't need higher refresh rates I still average around 8.5hrs SOT at QHD.
