Mikrotik does not recognise OnePlus8 as LTE device (USB tethering) - OnePlus 8 Questions & Answers

Hi,,
I would like to use my OnePlus 8 in USB tethered mode as an LTE device for my Mikrotik hAP ac lite router.
When I connect the two, OnePlus indicates that it is charging and even though I adjust that to USB tethering the Mikrotik never detects the modem.
I tried the same setup only replacing the phone with a Samsung S8 and the connection worked as expected.
Has anyone else experienced the same behaviour and has anyone else manage to find a solution?
Thanks

try using a router that uses recent version of OpenWRT and it should work, i got it to work on my openwrt router but not on my asus router. however my asus router worked fine with my older phone. Asus router needs firmware devs to fix the issue

In fact when I upgraded the Router OS firmware to Beta 7 it worked.

[Q] WiFi issues.. somtimes??

Hello, i have been having a curious issue with my WiFi. My Galaxy tab seems to have issues connecting to my work router. it will see it.. and sometimes try to connect but usually doesn't. The router is a Link Sys BEFW11S4. If i unplug the router and plug it back in, then the Tab will connect. Also a more recent issue is at my home ( i have Verizon FIOS w/ wireless router) i can connect fine and internet works, but when i use my Facebook app, it says no connection. A lot of the time i tether my Tab to my phone ( HTC EVO 4G) and everything always works fine.
I have read about issues with GT7 and certain routers. has anyone experienced anything like this? It sees the routers, just sometimes cannot connect to them.
I have tried removing the router and re adding it...changing the IP address..and wireless channels. Unplugging the router and pluggin back in always seems to work, at least temporarily.
Any suggestions?? Thanks!

WiFi problem with finding access point

Hi,
I'm a new owner of TF700
I've turned it up and have to say that I was impressed.
Right after that I encountered a problem with WiFi not finding my router (WRT54GL). The router's WiFi works (it is normally found by my PC, HTC One S, iPhone on daily basis). The TF700 finds tons of WiFis in the building except mine.
I also tried to manually add the WiFi and I just get-not in range. I tested if the WiFi works with creating a hotspot on my HTC One S and it worked.
Did anyone encountered such a problem/has a solution?
Thank you!

Hi,
I got the same problem after updating my TF700 to version V10.4.4.20
Is anybody has it resolved?
SSID gone on my Transformer
I have the same problem. Before Cyanogen mod 10 on my Transformer 101, my Netgear VVG2000 WPA2/PSK encrypted wifi ap worked fine, but after mod installation I can't se my SSID. It works fine on my SG2 and I can connect and see other wifi networks. Can it be because the MAC address has changed and the router blocks it or...? I also tried to change encryption mode to no avail. It has happened once before with a laptop and a never NIC software fixed it.
Hmmm...

What channel is the router using? If you are in the US and it is 12+ you may have and issue with it.

[Q] Versus 7 - Wifi Repeater 'Connecting...'

Hi there, I've had a lot of help through this forum in using my Android tablet without registering, so I thought this could be the best place to ask a question that's beginning to wreck my head.
I have a Versus 7 Touchpad, and while I know it's just a rebranded something or other made in China, it's actually a decent tablet for the price of €100. Anyway, recently I installed the TPlink TL-WA730RE wireless repeater at home and just have had no luck in getting the tablet to connect to the repeater whatsoever. My android phone (Xperia T), my wife's Nokia E5 and my Compaq PC all connect to the repeater fine and can browse the web/network no problem. However, the tablet just says 'connecting' (to the network) but then reverts back to 'saved, secured with WPA' etc. I know it's trying to connect because if I log onto the repeater through my PC every few minutes the MAC address of the tablet appears along with the status of 'STA -ASSOC', which I think means that the unit is trying to associate with the repeater, but then it just disappears. It may be worth noting at this point that the tablet connects to my TPlink TL-WR841N wireless router running DD-WRT no problem.
I've tried almost everything I can think of, like 'forgetting' the network and reconnecting, ensuring MAC address filtering is disabled, trying static instead of DHCP, resetting my router and repeater etc etc. I even tried apps such as 'wifi strongest signal' from the app store which connects you to the strongest access point in your house if you're using a repeater and walking around. The latest thing I did was to install CM10 on the rooted tablet and everything works apart from the wifi with the repeater, so it wasn't a fault with the original image. Also, the tablet was running ICS 4.0.4 I think, which was the same version of Android as my Xperia T, which connects perfectly.
The last thing I can think of trying is updating the repeater firmware, or installing DD-WRT on it also, but I'm loathe to do that seeing as all of my other equipment is working fine. Other than that maybe there is some sort of updated wifi driver I could try for the tablet itself??
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Just incase anyone else has similar problems with this or any other android tablet, I managed to solve the problem after weeks of headaches.
The problem was that my TPLink wifi repeater's channel width was set to 'auto', where I had other options of 20mhz and 40mhz. Once I paired these with my router -i.e- both the router and the repeater were both set to a wireless channel of 20mhz, my tablet worked perfectly fine. Obviously some equipment can handle the difference in channel width, just not the Versus 7 Touchpad wifi.
Hope this helps someone in the future.

a solution for connecting to wireless problem after upgrading to 4.1.2

After installing 4.1.2 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2221899 ) on my galaxy tab 7 plus.
i couldn't connect to my linksys wireless router. after searching i found that the new update can not recognize the some of old models routers.
so i tried a solution and it worked for me.
simply i made my lap top act like an access point. i have windows 8 so i installed a program on my lap top called (connectify hotspot).
it enabled me to make a new network with a new name and password based on my old one.
so now i can connect to wireless without changing any options with my router or the tablet.
the bad thing is that u must have your computer or laptop switched on to connect to that new ad-hoc network.

[Q] WiFi incompatibility between xt925 and TP-Link AV200

I added a TP-Link AV200 Nano and two AV200 WiFi extenders to my home network. It now consists of the cablemodem/wireless access point connected by an ethernet cable to the AV200 Nano and two other wireless access points on the powerline network. Every access point has the same SSID, and WPA2 key. They are each on their own channel across 1, 6, and 11.
I have three laptops, a Sony Xperia TX android phone, and a Nexus 7 that all work very well connected to any of the APs.
I also have a Motorola RAZR HD(Rogers) that works fine when connected to the cablemodem's AP, but not the powerline APs. The behavior is weird. This phone shows a strong connection to the wireless network that never cuts out, but there is extremely high packet loss. I've tested with both powerline APs separately. I get the same results.
I have made sure that the TP-Link devices all have the latest firmware. The problematic phone has been tested with the latest stock rom, Cyanogenmod 10.2 and 11. I have tried radio firmwares from different retailers and stock versions. My understanding is that current cyanogenmods come with and install the latest radio firmwares.
I contacted TP-Link. They confirmed that I am using the latest possible firmware but insisted that this is a problem with my phone.
How can I further diagnose this issue? It seems weird that the phone appears to have a good wireless connection, but network traffic has problems.
