a solution for connecting to wireless problem after upgrading to 4.1.2 - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

After installing 4.1.2 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2221899 ) on my galaxy tab 7 plus.
i couldn't connect to my linksys wireless router. after searching i found that the new update can not recognize the some of old models routers.
so i tried a solution and it worked for me.
simply i made my lap top act like an access point. i have windows 8 so i installed a program on my lap top called (connectify hotspot).
it enabled me to make a new network with a new name and password based on my old one.
so now i can connect to wireless without changing any options with my router or the tablet.
the bad thing is that u must have your computer or laptop switched on to connect to that new ad-hoc network.

wi-fi router

hi guys i recently purchased a wi-fi bridge for my dm800 it works perfect on the reciever i can also use my laptop through my hd2 via the wi-fi router app but i would like to connect the wi-fi bridge to the phone if it can be done the model of the wi-fi bridge is vonets vap11g any help please the bridge does not even pick the phone up in the search but as i said my laptop finds it straight away
Methinks it depends on router-type and/or open ports and/or protocols since I messed around with the same problem a lot.
On my VAIO TT it worked nicely until I updated the WIFI-drivers, then it didi not work any more. So I had to go back to the old drivers.
The same with the Alcatel and Thompson-Router/Hubs installed by Austrian Telecom. They had to open some ports and then it worked.
With a Netgear-Router I did not succed at all, although I tried all possible settings. Was very frustrating..............

[Q] Can WM6.5 share modem with a Ginger tablet ?

Here's the problem of a newb user of an Android tablet.
I favent' found any similar thread here @ the Forum.
I've just bought a chinese tablet (EM73...maybe Haipad or Irobot) with Ginger 2.3.3 installed by the vendor.
Everything goes right but not the sharing connection with the modem of my HTC TP2 (WM 6.5).
I can do it (through BT or WIFI connection) just if I use my netbook (Win XP home) running WMWifiRouter or CM Internet sharing. The router is immediatly recognized by the pc and I can use internet or SN (like FB) or Skype....and so on with an EDGE connection.
I've tried to do the same by connecting the modem-router to my new tablet, running WMWIFIRouter on TP2 but without seeing the net in the list of wifi connections.
No problem with the router and the ADSL connection that I use at home but no connections appears in the list of the tablet if I try to share the EDGE connection of my smartphone.
I've tried to connect by using an USB cable (using some apps found on the market) but nothing happens.
Someone says it depends of the type of connection (ad hoc = WM; infrastructure = Android)... but I can't find any solution to create that type of connection (is it possible ???=).
Can someone help me please ?
Though I don't have a solution, to help I can promise you it has to do with using ad-hoc. My Sirius and DSLite would not hook up to my WinMo phone because of it being Ad-hoc.

[Q] Versus 7 - Wifi Repeater 'Connecting...'

Hi there, I've had a lot of help through this forum in using my Android tablet without registering, so I thought this could be the best place to ask a question that's beginning to wreck my head.
I have a Versus 7 Touchpad, and while I know it's just a rebranded something or other made in China, it's actually a decent tablet for the price of €100. Anyway, recently I installed the TPlink TL-WA730RE wireless repeater at home and just have had no luck in getting the tablet to connect to the repeater whatsoever. My android phone (Xperia T), my wife's Nokia E5 and my Compaq PC all connect to the repeater fine and can browse the web/network no problem. However, the tablet just says 'connecting' (to the network) but then reverts back to 'saved, secured with WPA' etc. I know it's trying to connect because if I log onto the repeater through my PC every few minutes the MAC address of the tablet appears along with the status of 'STA -ASSOC', which I think means that the unit is trying to associate with the repeater, but then it just disappears. It may be worth noting at this point that the tablet connects to my TPlink TL-WR841N wireless router running DD-WRT no problem.
I've tried almost everything I can think of, like 'forgetting' the network and reconnecting, ensuring MAC address filtering is disabled, trying static instead of DHCP, resetting my router and repeater etc etc. I even tried apps such as 'wifi strongest signal' from the app store which connects you to the strongest access point in your house if you're using a repeater and walking around. The latest thing I did was to install CM10 on the rooted tablet and everything works apart from the wifi with the repeater, so it wasn't a fault with the original image. Also, the tablet was running ICS 4.0.4 I think, which was the same version of Android as my Xperia T, which connects perfectly.
The last thing I can think of trying is updating the repeater firmware, or installing DD-WRT on it also, but I'm loathe to do that seeing as all of my other equipment is working fine. Other than that maybe there is some sort of updated wifi driver I could try for the tablet itself??
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Just incase anyone else has similar problems with this or any other android tablet, I managed to solve the problem after weeks of headaches.
The problem was that my TPLink wifi repeater's channel width was set to 'auto', where I had other options of 20mhz and 40mhz. Once I paired these with my router -i.e- both the router and the repeater were both set to a wireless channel of 20mhz, my tablet worked perfectly fine. Obviously some equipment can handle the difference in channel width, just not the Versus 7 Touchpad wifi.
Hope this helps someone in the future.

[Q] Sharing Connection from PC

Hi,
so my scenario is the following:
My PC is connected to the router via cable and has no WiFi connection. My router has wifi, but the connection is very bad in my room.
Is there a way to share the connection of my pc (running win 8 pro btw) via bluetooth (it's onboard) or USB?
Thanks!
edit: Just tested it with my HoX and there I have an option "Internet Pass-Through", which works fine via USB. But on my GNote 10.1 (wifi only) the option doesn't exist...
edit2: I guess I found out what the problem is: It's called reverse-tethering and the problem is, that all tethering options are not available in the systemsettings, because tethering is not available, because it's a wifi only model. On my HoX the option for internet pass-through are in the tethering section, though it's reverse tethering. Any ideas how to get there on the wifi only Note?
Use a second ethernet-slot on your pc, buy an usb-lan-device and connect it via otg and crossovercable.
Or use bluetooth, if your pc support that. (Maybe a cheap usb bt device for your pc?) To share internet on one android device to another via bt is no problem. So it should work te same with your pc. Dunno by windows settings or any third party software.
AW: [Q] Sharing Connection from PC
Allright, I have Bluetooth onboard but can't get it to work, I guess the problem is with windows here. The other idea is very good thanks, I'll try that.
Send from my HTC One X - Kernel 3.1.10 - Build 3.18.401.1
Before buying check for well known usb lan devices. Especially for samsung note, note 2 and up.
How far is the router from your room?
Sent from my GT-N8010 using xda app-developers app
AW: [Q] Sharing Connection from PC
1 floor ~3 walls
The closer I get to the door the better it gets. At the door the router is basically directly beneath. On my couch which is near the door the reception is okay. But in my bed and near my PC (furthest away from door) the reception is very bad or no reception at all.
Sent from my Galaxy Note 10.1 with the awesome CM 10.1 HumberOS Rom!
edit: So, I finally found a working bluetooth driver for my onboard bluetooth and win 8 (it's a P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen 3 btw). The standard win 8 bt driver seemed to lack some features. Okay, now I am able to have a real pairing connection to the GN10.1. I enabled ICS in windows connection option and then tried to do a "connect to personal network" in windows. It fails with no notification at all on the Note. Then I downloaded Bluetooth PAN app from play store. Funny thing is: If I click connect in windows (in the "connect to personal network" window) and shortly after/before click connect in Bluetooth PAN the connection does not fail in windows (it shows as connected), but the Bluetooth PAN app doesn't show any established connection, very weird. I tried the app "BlueVPN", but also no luck. Oh btw I found the following:
Obtain a network connection via Bluetooth tethering
If you have a computer or other device that can share its network connection via Bluetooth, you can configure your phone to obtain a network connection by Bluetooth tethering (sometimes called reverse tethering).
1. Configure your computer to share it’s network connection via Bluetooth. See your computer’s documentation for details on how to do this. Typically, it involves making your computer discoverable via Bluetooth and allowing incoming PAN connections.
2. Pair and connect your phone to your computer via Bluetooth.
3. Go to Settings > Wireless & networks > More > Tethering & portable hotspot.
4. Check Bluetooth tethering.
Your phone connects to the Internet via Bluetooth and your computer, and a Bluetooth icon appears in the System bar.
Click to collapse
So I had Bluetooth Tethering enabled all the time. It didn't make any difference, except I got a noticifation "Tethering active" when connected, but I didn't get a reverse tethering.
Next thing I did, I tried connecting to my HTC One X's bt hotspot, didn't work either.
My best guess is still that there are too many tethering options missing due to the fact that it's the wifi only version.
What I'll try next is this. I'll let you know if it works.
edit 2: Oh, I also tried reverse tethering with my HoX to the PC, also didn't work.
Didn't worked because of firewall on windows 8?
Try to establish tethering through ur mobile phone via bt to wifi or [insertnumberhere]G internet.
Maybe in both directions (mobile<->10.1) to see if that works... and to decrease potential ...errrm... fehlerquellen.
Any update on sharing the internet connection of the pc to the note 10.1. I am especially interested in doing it via the USB.
It seems you can update the Note 10.1 via the USB, so it must be possible to connect to the internet via it. I think.
I don't own a Note 10.1 yet, but I am really interested in getting one.
it is old but maybe for some people the first gibt. nowadays it is easier in Windows 6 and above. you'll make it.

Sharing internet connection with android if Win10 Laptop is unable to create hotspot

Hello,
This may sound weird but I'm sure I'm not the only one facing this problem. I don't want to invest on a wifi router just yet. It was pretty easy to share my laptop's internet connection with my phone when I was on Windows 7. But ever since I upgraded to Windows 10, some of my device drivers are messed up. I've tried installing multiple drivers (one at a time of course) to get my laptop to create a WiFi hotspot. Haven't succeeded yet.
But what I can do is connect my laptop to other WiFi networks.
I wonder if there is a way in which I can share my broadband connection from my laptop to my phone. Can the Android community help?
