Hi everyone, first of all, sorry for my bad english.
As the rules state, I've already lurked through some of the threads on the site but I'm not really sure on how to proceed or which one to follow, as many of them goes through different processes.
I was trying various different ROMs and installing them with no problems untill I went to AncientOs, which made my WIFI unusable and the System UI unstable, so I decided to move to DotOs and there's when the problem started. I'm not really sure on where did I go wrong, but after many attemps and messing with things I don't properly know, I ended with my device booting to Fastboot mode and an error message everytime I try to install a new ROM:
Code:
Failed to mount '/vendor' (Invalid argument)
If I go to the wipe tab, the Vendor and the system options are missing.
Thanks in advance for the help, feel free to tell me if I'm missing some important details about the problem

Flash MIUI in fastboot mode
No idea why you want to go back though. ArrowOS is stable, bug free for me and has a good battery life

Thank you.
Im just curious about the internal storage. After format data and re flash the rom, then I restore the apps+data with swiftbackup, i found the system taking huge amount of storage around 19GB. Is it something wrong or just normal?

It's perfectly fine.
19 - 20 GB is what Android 11 takes. Probably it's even more in MIUI because of all the pre-installed apps

i have followed all the steps using NRT to unlock boot-loader and root the phone.
Installed TWRT manager and flashed the recovery.
Now i am trying to flash CM12 for the first time and stuck with error message "can't install this package on top of incompatible data" during flashing .
downloaded the following flash zip from CM website: cm-12.1-20150901-SNAPSHOT-YOG4PAO237-hammerhead.zip (281.77 MB)
Can any one help me what needs to be done to proceed further.

This guide might help, you do it in TWRP by going to Format > Advanced > select partition > Change filesystem > Ext4

In twrp, I had to fumble around to find advance wipe to clear data but worked like charm after that.
Thank you!
xiaomi note 4g dior
Let me tell my story,
My friend gave me an old xiaomi note 4g which was stuck at the MI icon on boot,
Luckily the phone did not lock boot-loader
So I use xiaomi flash rom to flash global room , it worked after i tried sometimes.
Then I booted to the phone, and other problem came, the phone was linked with an Mi Account , and my friend forgot everything about it
not email, no phone number
I did a search and they said the only way to bypass the MiAccount is using a Resurrection ROM or balallala
so I ended up with using
1. fastboot to install twrp
2. open twrp --> open adb sideload mode.
3. Open window command line and install Resurrection ROM though adb sideload
While installing rom though adb slideload , i got the same issue with topic
SO i cleared data and tried again,
IT WORKED , NO MORE ****ING MiAccount
THANK a lot

Hi
Playing with my wife's Nexus 5, bootloader unlocked, rooted, and latest TWRP installed but when trying to flash from android 6.0.1 to Lineage, I'm getting an error 7 image shown I hope.....
Is this just because I haven't wiped the data first ? (I'm fairly sure but...)
I dont dare try 'cause if it's not that she'll kill me, so would like to be sure before I wipe all her data..
Thanks
Update, it was that I just wiped all except the SD and flashed, all is just great
Hello ppl,
I have a few questions I would like answers to, I got the Poco X3 NFC recently and I was able to unlock the booloaded properly with the official method (waiting the 7 days), but when I think about the root process is njot entirely clear for me.
Is there a way to root the android device without installing the custom ROM?? os is that a must?
I heard some Bank applications will not run in rooted phones, how usual is this? and is there a way to know which apps come with this resticction?
seems like magiks is a good choice for rooting as it keeps the original boot.img in the device so the rooting checks are not failed. how better is this? than other methods?
I am also wondering if there a process for reviewing the custom ROMs available over the internet? I mean how safe are those in terms of malicious code?
And finally what are the best custom ROMS out there for the x3 NFC that you would recommend in case I go for the ROM flash route.
thanks in advanced for any details
You absolutely don't need a custom ROM to get root -- all you need is an unlocked bootloader, which apparently you already have, plus a custom recovery like TWRP or OrangeFox to be able to flash Magisk. Evrything else, IMMV...
Thx pnin ill check deeper in to magisk then
I have another question.. in order to backup my current stock phone's partitions do I have to flash TWRP first? or can I get the backup done some other way?
It's possible there's a way to do this with ADB ("platform tools") and a computer that I don't know about -- otherwise you absolutely have to flash TWRP/OrangeFox first...
I am on Indonesian stock rom. And removed these apps via debloat in magisk module. I think its quite enough. You dont need custom rom. Magisk can hide root. So no worries.

I'm a De-bloater user myself -- but I wouldn't risk anything without a working custom recovery. Things tend to get pretty hairy as it is...

yeah seems like RCS is very important... I have reinstalled it.
Hey thanks for all answers, so I manged to get mine rooted, the TWRP works but is not persistent, meaning you cant flash it, but can boot it, so I booted and installed magisk with it, I now have rooted x3 NFC, and passing the safety net scans all green.. the only thing is I debloat some apps like mi video and other mi-services.. but after some time they re-appeared... any advises on getting rid of them permanently?

I found it, adb pull and the partition name, I took a 100gb image though so Is not easy to tamper with as it is too big, none the less I managed to complete the whole rooting process properly so I guess I can try again to backit up as it is.. but I can boot in to TWRP so I guess is not enirely needed.
Hi,
I tried to Root my POC F2 Pro device today, and I got stuck on boot-loop.
After installing TWRP I didn't manage to find the files in the internal storage (Something to do with storage encryption.) so I saw some videos and Change the partition to exFAT and then to EXT4 and from that moment everything went to hell.
I can't do anything and the device is not botting up. When I try do to anything like installing and new Global room/Wipe/Repair - I get this:

I will appreciate any help that I can get

Can you enter in fasboot mode?
If yes https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-use-xiaomi-flash-tool.4262425/
DAAMMM WOW man...! I searched for a solution all night and didn't find anything no matter how hard I tried.
In one comment you fixed everything! Really (really) appreciated!
Thanks again!
@NOSS8 Maybe you can help me root my phone...?
After I installed the TWRP, I enter recovery mode and I see 0MB in the 'Internal Storage'.
I have PIN to the phone, but it's not asking me to write it down when I boot to recovery.
What can I do?

I manage to do it. I created a new boot image using Magisk and it worked.
Thanks again for the quick reply!
Hello, Before we get started this is a quick TLDR guide and you do this at your own risk, If you DM me and your phone doesn't work I will laugh myself to sleep. (This shoulden't do that unless your stupid!).
If you have issues such as sensors not working like Auto Rotate, Proximity, Auto Brightness, Etc (Use a sensor testing app to confirm) [Make sure your 100% sure it's not due to damage].
Then you need to flash the persist.img, Some how or at least in my experience its become corrupted, normally you would just flash via fastboot the stock files and you should be good to go but Xiaomi doesn't let you flash these because you should not ever have too. The last option was to use EDL but that seems complicated for a issue with some sensors.
Now thanks to a few guides on XDA (Can't find the right one or I would link it here) and some other Xiaomi user posts the quickest way is just to use a recovery to flash the img, now I've tried coping the backup persist partition (PersistBak) and it did not help me nor did using recovery to dd the image to the persist partition, but flashing via OrangeFox did the trick,
Messing with the persist partition is not recomended and may break stuff as its never ment to be tampered with so if you can't use pay anymore Don't blame me!
You do so at your own risk!
1. So Grab your firmware IE latest from your chosen region
2. Grab the extracted persist.img and load your recovery
3. Then select persist img and select it from storage (SD Card)
4. Make sure you pick flash to persist (On OrangeFox it was Persist_IMAGE for me)
5. Flash it and reboot
6. Check your sensors and they should be working!
Now you don't have to spend hours looking online your welcome!
Please thank the individuals that found this and not me I'm just a risk taker and have money to replace it if I Break it.

And when I looked for one online quoting XDA it never showed up.

I think your download it corrupted. Try redownloading the ROM.
Also remember to wipe Dalvik, Data, Cache and Metadata before flashing the ROM.

Dont forget to almost FORMAT data, encryption can also prevent flashing different rom.
And disable every and all passwords, patterns, fingerprints.
use ofox recovery with a12 support.
