Unable to install apk's with obb files. - Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC Questions & Answers

I never had problems with this on previous android phones but I can't seem to install any apk that needs an obb file.
This is my first time using miui so the problem is probably on my side.
I placed the obb in the /android/obb folder (tried both sd and internal) but all apps either have a black screen or try to re-download it.
I tried disabling the miui optimization, enabled "install unknown apps" (you have do that for each source, maybe I missed the correct one?)
That is about everything I could find about it online but it still won't work, I hope someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

It depends on which game you're trying to install. The latest versions of some games initiate a small verification check of file integrity before the game starts, if it fails you get a black screen, if it doesn't fail it forces you to re-download the OBB data.
This is to ensure no modding or cheating in games that have competitive modes or payments.
MIUI optimization has no connection to your problem so make sure you turn it back on and restore all permissions MANUALLY.
Unknown Apps permissions is required only once. (per app). So Chrome will ask once... Allow. Done. File manager will ask once, allow, done. However this has nothing to do with the game... This is only for the apk portion.
If you are able to install the same game with same files on another phone and it works... Then check if permission is granted for the APK for storage access.
Also try an older game or one that isn't popular. If the OBB method works then my theory above is true. If it doesn't work then you'll have to look further for information.

Thanks for explaining so clearly, I'll give it a try tonight.
Do you have an example of an app/game which should surely work?

Give me the name of the game you are trying. I'll do it on my phone. (Provided its not too large.) If it works for me and not for you, then we can troubleshoot further.
I would give you recommendations of some games but I have no idea if they're updated or not... So rather than us guessing, just tell me which app or game you are trying and I'll try and reproduce it.

I have the same problem it's bus simulator ultimate. Here is the link to both apk and obb download. https://apklub.com/download-bus-simulator-ultimate-mod-apk/

Moving Gameloft Game data to External SD

If you have more than one Gameloft game (which is easy when they are buy one get one at $2.99), you've probably run into the problem of not having enough space on your tiny 8GB internal SD. I personally have been fighting with ~200mbs free for the past few weeks and its been annoying me, so I decided I wanted to "fix" the problem, at least till Gameloft gets together and adds an option of where to download the app data.
My first idea was some sort of syslink or bind mount at boot between the Internal and External SD, but while I was researching this I ran into this "convertor" which modifies the apk file to install the game data to the external SD card.
Create the folder called GL on your external SD and the game data from your main folder (sdcard/gameloft/games) copy to "external SD/Gl"

I am still looking for a better solution that doesnt require EVERY apk to be modified, so if you good w/ scripts or can think of a way similar to my original idea, please let me know.
Check it out and leave your feedback

EDIT: Confirmed working on NOVA 2 and Shadow Guardian. You MUST copy all the game data to /_ExternalSD/GL/ (make sure to remove the "games" folder if it's there, all the data needs to be in the "GL" folder. Also, confirmed it only works on games purchased from Gameloft's website, not the Android market versions.
This is how your GL folder should look on your External SD if you run ls in terminal:
ls /sdcard/_ExternalSD/GL:
GloftN2HP
asphalt6
GloftBPHM
GloftSGHP
nova
May God bless the fruit of your loins with prosperity and well being from now till his return. Bless you!
works great... except with Starfront.
EDIT: looks like starfront works.. just needed wifi to verify the files
Damn, what the hell are the people who buy the Sensation going to do when they only have a measly 1GB for appdata?
having a hard time downloading that file. It isnt working for me. I need this
People w/ the sensation are screwed and r gonna need to create scripts to move stuff SD. I successfully patched all 4 of my Gameloft games and they are working fine. Just make sure you put them in the right folder (see OP). No issues downloading the one-click patcher, but I'll see if I can get another link.
Despite this working well, Id still like to figure out a way to syslink or bind mount the gameloft folders on Internal and external sd.
EDIT: Posted mirror link in OP. Enjoy!
I did this and it worked perfectly (thanks btw!!) but all my saved game data and progress is gone this is for Dungeon Hunter 2 HD
guys - im having a problem with Data but not sure if its different - any time i download the gameloft data via wifi to my 32GB SDCard - the game crashes after the gameloft logo and asks to download the data when you restart (even if the data is already there)

Im not really sure where the save games are stored for Gameloft games. Glad to hear it works, but please let me know if you resolve this issue.

I would double-check that the folders are set up properly. it is case sensitive, so be careful. I layout exactly how the folders should be arranged in the OP. Another thing u can check is have it download SOME of the game data, and go and find it. It may help you track down the issue, (like folders arrange incorrectly). Hope that helps!
i tried to launch the program but it crashes after loading.. this is so frustrating.. i feel like going back to HTC (never had this level of problems)

This has nothing to do w/ the manufacturer of your phone. We are essentially "hacking" these games to trick it into using the external SD. You would have this exact same issue, on say, the newly releases HTC Sensation (if not worse because of the lack of space on the Internal SD). Also, I just want to point out that I doubt this will work on "cracked" apks for Gameloft, so those may cause crashes as well.
Im not very fond of hacking each APK to work, as it will eventually cause issues, and this would best be solved by syslinking or bind mounting the two folders between the internal and external SD card. Unfortunately, I dont have enough background knowledge to write the script from scratch, as it requires some kernel modification, and would have to be unique to each phone.
cm7 by default installs your games to the sdcard, but if you want your games to install on internal storage i have attached a config file that goes in /system/etc make sure to back up old one first, ps i dont know the site i got the infop off of and the re done config file it isnt my work im just letting people know here ill post in a second post since its on my phone and im using a computer

Do you have any strange side effects from using it? Did it require any modification to the files from the other thread to be used on the G2x?
I'm using trinity kernel and it was just a matter of changing fstab so no
G2x pwned, cm7 (trinity) killer combo "density 190"

Hmm, Ill have to give it a shot?
EDIT: This DOESNT work when using the files from the other thread, as it mentions its specifically for the i9003. Tried it and both SD cards cant be seen. It may need to be modified, as I looked at both files and they are completely different.
Its basically the reverse ill post the fstab file when I get home the 1 for external storage it wont let me attach from my phone so got to wait till I get home

Okay, I used the changed from the Samsung version and modified our vold.fstab to mount the partitions properly. Give the attached vold.fstab file a shot and see if it works. Seems to work for me Please post your feedback.
Backup your original vold.fstab file (its in /system/etc).
ADB push this file to /system/etc after mounting it as R/W (u can do it in terminal but I use the app Remount)
Reboot
Check SD "layout" in Settings
EDIT: Seems you cant mount either SD card as MASS storage after switching files :/. Anyone w/ experience feel like chiming in?

Dont try the vold method. Use the APK Patcher in the OP and please post your results .
I have not been as successful as I originally thought, as some of the games refuse to work

Re-installing a Gameloft Game - how to save my savegame

So I started playing Eternal Legacy and keep having an issue where the game freezes towards the end of a battle in the area by the mines. Sometimes I can get through 1 battle only to have it freeze after another. Anyone have this issue?
Gameloft sent me a link to redownload and re-install the game and said to delete the old one. But does anyone know how to save my savegame files so I don't have to start the game all over again? I searched the GloftELHD folder but didn't find any files that looked like a save game.
Most gameloft games store their saved games on memory card e.g. Asphalt 6 (profile.sav) and modern combat 2 (save.bin), and some save it in phone memory as application data (Dungeon Hunter 2)
If you can't find any save game file in Eternal Legacy folder, try saving the application data by Titanium Backup

Of course there is nothing in that folder even remotely called "save" so thats out. Titanium backup works without Root? My device is stock.

No backup currently gives back up app-data without root. You might be able to copy the data out with ADB if you can isolate what file it is, even without root.

Yeah copying the file out isn't a big deal I can do it through windows explorer. The problem is there is no way to identify which file it is. I would just backup the whole thing but that would defeat the purpose of re-installing the game then. I'm not even convinced re-installing the game will fix my freezing problem.

Have you tried GameLoft Support? Asking on the forum where the save-game data is for that particular game? If it is on the phone itself, gotta get it with ADB, if it is on the SD-card, then you can copy off SD-card to another spot.... If you can't find that info, then I don't know what to tell you. I have that game but haven't started it yet (got it as a freebie 2-for-1 deal). So I wouldn't mind knowing too. I honestly wish they published at least a little bit of detail on this stuff, but they are used to supporting iOS devices, where normal users can't get into this nitty-gritty stuff to poke at it.

I actually have tried Gameloft Support themselves, and the guy from Gameloft basically told me he didn't know either.
I'm not sure but you can try follow steps, i think you can get back saved data after uninstalling game:
1. Plug you device with USB cable and open the "Removable disc F (or N or G,J the name could vary)" then open "Gameloft" folder.
2. You will see the "games" folder.
3. Pick up the game you need.
4. Then you will see the whole game data.

The other games do have a savegame file, but this one nothing is marked savegame.
That said not even sure I'm gonna re-install just yet so this may all be moot, just swapped in a Sandisk Class 4 32 gb card and now everything seems to be working better.

Hmmm.. So may just have been a hardware glitch with read-times or such odd? One can only hope as much. It is a shame that GameLoft's support isn't better. Considering that their games (even if often buggy) are generally some of the better ones out there (even if generally ripped from other popular games on other platforms).

I think it may be, I played for about an hour last night and no problems (plus the class 4 Sandisk runs WAY smoother than the 16gb Class 2 card I had). I almost laughed when I got that email, it seems like such a simple question but the fact he straight out told me "I don't know", I've never gotten something like that from tech support before. Another thing I did was reduce my max text messages per thread to 50 and delete a lot of old stuff (probably about 1000+ texts), that has helped with the phone's sluggishness, and I would bet helped the game as well. I would assume Android prioritizes that task and so it can affect other apps.
I've found that their games are a mixed bag. Eternal Legacy is stunning, graphics are unbelievable for a phone, everything works well, but then I get these freeze ups, and worse if you pause the game to answer a call or check an email/text message, it shuts down! MC2 is really stunning as well, but 50% of the time if you go into the control menu the game force closes, and we have had 1000 threads on the targeting with the right stick. Assassins Creed has decent graphics, great controls and play style, but TONS of graphical glitches, and a pretty cheesy story that completely ignores a huge plot point of the Assassins Creed games aside from a passing reference to animus and memories in the menus.
help me about this too?
that's help me too and work thank you for all ^_^

[Q] downloadfile-x.apk, Invalid Package File, The Package was not signed correctly.

I've seen countless threads on these 2 errors, but I just found something intriguing on my android device.
This one is a Measy U1A android stick (the ones that you connect to your TV via HDMI). A truly nice piece of hardware, but it seems to have some issues.
Since day 1 I can't install apps most of the time. Yes, *most* of the time. 80% I get the "Invalid Package file" error, another 10% of the time I get a "Package was not signed correctly", but curiously enough, a 10% of the time the packages go through and install correctly.
Of course, this gets on my nerves.
Now, I'd really want to know what's going on and I'd love some help from the true Android experts.
This is what I've already done:
Got a Log Viewer to see what was going on.
At first it said that was an error downloading (more on this later)
Then other times it said that there was no signature for X or Y file INSIDE the apk file (I remember some libraries, I was trying to install netflix on my tests)
So, I tried to tackle the download error by checking the space (df), I found that /data had few space remaining, so I cleared stuff from it. Now I have 308Mb free, more than enough to download Netflix (14Mb download). I'm talking about /data since I found out that the downloadfile-x.apk files get downloaded to /data/data/com.android.providers/downloads/cache
Tried again, nothing. Ok, so I thought that maybe there was some weird error in the /data partition. I created a directory on the sdcard portion of the stick and linked it (ln -s). Same issues. I created a directory on my external sd card and liked to it, and the same.
Now, for the weird part, and this is where I'd love some insight:
Out of 5 downloads, ES File Explorer got installed correctly, and I got a bunch of EQUALLY SIZED downloadfile-x.apk files on that directory, but NONE OF THEM HAS THE SAME MD5 SUM. Weird? Yep, but that could only mean 3 things: Either there's a problem with my wifi/network stack, or the /data, /sdcard, /mnt/extsd partitions ALL have errors in them. The 3rd option is that Perhaps Google signs every download with a different salt and that's the reason they are all different. But I DON'T THINK THE 3rd OPTION IS LOGICAL OR PRACTICAL.
Now, I don't have access to recovery here... well, I haven't tried but there's no obvious option, perhaps CWM but I don't want to risk it too much since it ran Ubuntu for a while and now that won't boot (that's another topic, unable to debug it since I can't see anything on the screen until it boots).
I've already tried:
1. Deleting Play Cache and Data, rebooting
2. Deleting Play and installing it again (it took several tries because of the same issue)
3. Factory Default and logging to my google account again
4. FIRMWARE UPGRADE (yes, I found a new firmware, it seems faster and more stable, but I still have that issue).
Now, I haven't found a memory checker or a "nand" (as you call it) checker on the app market, do these apps exist? I'd love to rule this out.
Thanks if anyone has another option, as I said, I'm out of them. The funny thing is that once the apps are installed THEY WORK FINE!!!!
Please help, I just can't spend 15 minutes to install each app that I want

Mexico City here.
I found a firmware update, it makes the homepage icons bigger, changes the boot screen and overall feels faster. But I still have the same error.
As for the remote control, I found a vnc server that can be run on the dongle, and any vnc viewer can be used to control it.
I got a Rikkomagic III (not S, silly me), and let me say, that thing kicks the U1A over the window, performance is great but it has no bluetooth.
I'll keep trying to find a solution for my issue, as the Rikkomagic works fine.

As of now there is only one app . Remodroid which works as per requirement
you can download it from play store. you need to install in both the Dongle and cellphone . it works well.but sluggish at times

Have screwed up Play Store and keyboard on rooted tablet, stuck trying to repair it

Hi, I have a MID-756, also known as an F900, Quadcore A33, with Android 4.4.2. A bog-standard cheap tablet, but having installed a 10,000mah battery, quite a useful device that lasts for several days.
The performance isn't super-sparkly and it does appear to run out of some types of memory sometimes, with browsers prone to shutting down without warning when reading newspaper websites. So I purchased Link2SD Pro and moved as many things as possible to the internal SD card. This also allows you to set some system programs as user programs, which then enables you to move them to the SD card as well, which is very useful.
I also did this with google play store and google play services, and that is when it went wrong, as google play store no longer worked. Based on things other people suggested, I tried various things like clearing caches, but that didn't work. I tried to use the browser to go to the play store and update them, but it said things like, "App will be installed later" - but which never happened. I tried to download google play services and play store APK's from a repository and after deleting the originals I installed them from the APKs. It nearly worked - it got to checking permissions, but instead of starting the download progress bar it said, "Unfortunately google play store has stopped", or words to that effect. Based on one suggestion I tried clearing the data for services and google services framework, and then it wouldn't even connect to the store at all.
So I saved important things and then did a factory reset, under the naive impression that it would restore it to how it had arrived. I discovered that it only clears user data and programs, and does not restore system apps that you've stupidly deleted. Having reinstalled the play services and play store from the downloaded APK's it still wouldn't actually download anything as it failed at the progress bar stage with the same message as before - "Unfortunately google play has stopped".
The other thing is that after doing a complete reset the keyboard became chinese, and having to use the old 'Nokia' way of entering English using a numeric keypad is a nuisance. So I'm keen to be able to restore the Play store function so I can at least download a better keyboard.
I've tried to download the gapps file, saving it on an external SD card and installing it on its own as suggested by one person, even going to the Pico version and each time I get "E: Error in /tmp/sideload / package.zip (status error 255)", which apparently means not enough memory according to one person.
I have looked for a custom ROM to install from scratch, but there don't appear to be any for this model. I considered reinstalling the original ROM I downloaded (exdroid4.4.2_r2-a33-v2.0) but I haven't found a mid-756 driver file so my understanding is that it is highly likely to fail.
I can't now reinstall the Link2SD app in order to set the play-related apps back to system apps again either, even though I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling on my rooted phone in order to get the .APK files and then transfer them across to the tablet. It appeared that the .APK files were automatically deleted from both the app and the Pro licence app.
I'm feeling I've right royally screwed my tablet. I know it wasn't that expensive, but it is pretty useful with the massive battery so I'd really appreciate any pointers to help fix it. I've read the suggested threads but as I can't find a driver file for this device, reinstalling the whole ROM from scratch doesn't seem like a good idea. Is it safe to clear the Dalvik cache and reinstall a whole gapps package though? I'm cautious because so far clearing other caches does not seem to have improved anything and in one case made it worse.
Very grateful for any help received!
Mike
Ok, didn't get any help but finally fixed it and people might like to know how I did it:
To recap, the situation was: Rooted MID-756 / F900 tablet, having deleted play store after it stopped working when I made it a non-system app, and after doing a full reset, found that the only keyboard option was a japanese one with Nokia-style input for Western typeface. Complete nuisance to use and with hardly any even standard apps remaining after I'd previously moved them to SD card, which was then wiped when I did full reset. So, close to useless.
Solution: Use another Android 4.2 phone, and for each of the following apps, [ Google play services, play store, Link2SD, Link2SD (new)] do the following steps:
a) in Link2SD, select an app.
b) in the details screen, from the options menu, select 'share apk'. You may need to scroll the menu up if your screen doesn't show it.
c) When the share apk options come up, select 'google drive'
d) go to your PC, and in google drive, change the name to xxxxx.apk . I don't know why the .apk seems to get missed off, but you need to add it back in again.
e) Once you've done all four apps, copy all of them to a micro SD card.
f) Put the micro SD card in your tablet.
g) in a file manager, go to the external SD card, and click on the google play services.apk. This will take you through the install procedure. When it has finished installing, reboot.
h) Do the same with Link2SD and Link2SD(new). Even if it says that the licence won't verify (it will show a red triangle next to the name when the app is open), don't worry. Select google play services, and in the detail screen, from the options menu select 'convert to system app'. Then reboot again.
i) Do the same with Play Store - install apk, reboot, convert to system app using link2SD and reboot again.
f) Open Play Store. You will probably have to go through some account setting up of google play store which should be familiar to you. This time when you get to play store and try downloading or updating something it should work. If it still doesn't, do one more reboot.
You can now restore all your previous apps, including the google keyboard if you've screwed that up by doing a hard reset. You will now be able to use a proper keyboard again.
If Link2SD was not verifying the licence for the paid version, when play store is working again you should find it will now check the licence properly.
The moral of the story: Play store does not work as a user app, it needs to be a system app, so don't try to convert it to a user app in the first place.

[Guide] Spoof in Pokemon go without rubber banding

So I tried many things for stop rubber banding in Pokemon go, and I think i found a method that works for me. Thanks to @Wildcat2083 for his thread https://www.google.com/amp/s/forum....nable-gps-change-rubber-banding-t3889811/amp/
Note :- in this method you are going to change file from you vendor , so be warned .
Requirements:- rooted device,GPS joystick, root explorer (solid explorer or any ), link2sd app which can be found in playstore.
Step 1 :- download GPS joystick and generate a duplicate version of it . Uninstall the original version and make the fake app a system app by using link2sd app and reboot device.
Step 2 :- open any root explorer go-to root->vendor->etc
In here you would find a file called "gps.__"(extension may vary). If don't see that file look for a folder called gnss ( i found mine in that ).
Step 3:- copy that file to any location like sdcard or internal. Then go back to the original file ( in vendor/etc) and delete it. Create a new file with same name and same extension.
Step 4 :- setting in up spoofing app. Don't enable any option other than system mode which will be enabled by default.
Hurray!!!! You can enjoy a working non rubber banding spoofing time now
Disclaimer :- doing this method means that other location apps won't work (maps, navigation etc) and adventure sync also will not work.
*Important*
*Keep your GPS in "device only" mode.
*Turn off location history for your Google account.
*Disable WiFi/Bluetooth scanning.
*Always start the GPS before opening Pokemon go.
*Repeat the same steps if you flash a update of your ROM.
FAQs
Wanna go back to normal?
-> paste the copied file over the newly created file.
Still face rubber banding?
-> just enable suspended mocking while facing rubber banding.
Still rubber banding?
-> use the tin foil method.
Should I disable any services or anything?
-> you can try,but don't disable fused location since the new update looks for fused location.
Lost the copied file?
-> dirty flash your ROM again
enjoy spoofing. If you have any doubts, you are always welcomed to ask.

The Idea is wrapping several layers of foil over your phone in such a way you can still see the screen and access the buttons but it is suspose to block the gps inside the phone from getting a reliable signal from space, I personally didn't like doing that, its why I originally worked out a software solution that prevented the gps from acquiring said signal from within android

Curious, I have been away from GO for awhile now, its always a cat and mouse game with these things, is the method still functioning? I had some folks ask if it works with Android Pie but my carrier sees fit to not provide the update so Im not sure, at one point I wanted to make a app that automated all of this but eh not sure who is still interested in all this lol
So quick update, even with magisk installed no exposed pogo kept seeing root on my phone, but in a stroke of genius i found an app on the play store that sandboxes apps, its used for work applications to have a seperate copy of choosen apk for work purposes, what i did in addidition to the steps above was added pogo to the "island" gave play store access so I could log in the froze the regular copy of pogo and left the island copy working now it no longer sees root and the joystick method still functions, I win
Fake GPS app. is not works anymore with Pokémon Go ?
Some of them still do, i used the one from theappninjas ... The issue is getting pogo to stay running as they look through your files and processes to see what is running, if its in their blacklist then you get booted and possibly banned
I have followed all the steps but it works only for few seconds. I am getting Incompatible OS or software error Any solutions?

A couple things to check for are if pokemon go can see your rooted, if so then youll want to hide root from pokemon go with magisk but that slone isn't enough, you also have to hide magisk manager itself by using their option in their settings that changes their package name to something random, also pokemon go looks at your files in your sd card and internal storage, even if you deny storage access permissions, any file that can be directly flashed with twrp can do the OS message as well as any folder named magisk, root etc, also some root apps will cause you to not be able to play, like xposed frameword, even if its installed via magisk, busybox installer will also prevent you im sure there is a bunch more, as pokemon gets updated they add more and more checks
Its hard to find a difinitive list, its more about trial and error, even the joystick app i use by "theappninjas" has a help option to download their "full" version wich also has an option to generate a copy of their app that changes the name again as pokemon knows all about spoffing, its all about using every hiding method avaiable, cleaning up stray rooting files and really trial and error
The easiest way I've found is to root your device using magisk and flash smali patcher
Follow the instructions on flashing smali patcher
what if i tell you , you cant make system app and even if u succeed the moment you restart your mobile that app will "poof" GONE

Sorry for the super long delay, i unfortunatly do not have the steps any longer as the sandbox app i used was offered to me from google play store as a beta, at the end of the day tho i found out its unneeded you can gain the same effect by installing regulary way, the only reason i had mentioned it was i had thought in a sandbox enviroment pogo wouldnt see the sd card or internal storage but it turns out even in sandboxed it still does, all that really means is certain apps that pertain to root even if hidden with magisk if folders or files reside on your internal storage or sd card basically the game will see them N moreless kick you off, it looks for root apps anything named magisk and even .img or certain .zip files youd use to flash your phone, the best suggestion is google and you can come across some resources detailing which apps it looks for, i removed several apps and folders files until pogo would play without closing, i still had to hide root from pogo with magisk i still tweaked the gps like i posted in the thread its just minimizing the root apps to a bare minimum, xposed i know for one you cant use at all not even the one from magisk, pogo detected that right off, root checkers are another i know of right off hand

The app was island sandbox, if playstore even still has it all i did was install it, it gives an option to store and install a second copy of any app within it to isolate the app but as i had stated pogo still managed to see what was in my storage anyhow, not sure how, but i know it looks in /data /storage /sdcard and even /system its pretty nosey for a game
