Hi.
My 13 year old son has my old galaxy spica, I can't remember which ROM is on it, but it does have CM 2.5.1.0 recovery.
He's currently in a lot of trouble, and I'm hoping the contents of his phone (texts) might shed some extra light on the situation, but it's currently locked, and he's being unhelpful, I believe with a SIM card lock asking for a PIN rather than an unlock pattern.
I was hoping repeated wrong guesses would force PUK lock, then I'd contact the network for a key (phone is in my name, I pay the bill) but I just get a 30 second delay after 5 attempts.
So, the obvious question, how do I bypass the lock, is it even possible without wiping the data on the phone?
Alternatively, can I just access the data, as I do have recovery on the device?
Thanks
edit - taking the SIM out still has the phone showing the "Enter Password to Unlock" screen
I think there's no way around that...the only way I know how to take the screen lock off is to do a hard reset but then everything off the phone will be gone...I dont think you can get around the screen lock AND keep the contents in tact, but I could be wrong...
Thanks - his brother just gave me the code
I suppose the follow on question - any way to lock someone out of the settings menu?
edit - solved -app lock (app)
How to lock the lock screen settings , because pattern unlock can be changed without pin
I just want to prevent troller friends from changing my screen lock
sorry my english
Simple
Hello,
Several solutions:
1) Always keep phone yourself, do not give it to friends.
2) Set long number as screenlock, so no one will remember it when you unlock phone.
3) Learn to be assertive to your friends or ...change friends.
Maybe it'll help...
Some of the toggles Don't work from the lock screen. For example, the flashlight toggle does work but the WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC toggles only work if I unlock the phone. It's pointless to have those toggles appear in the pull down shade if they don't work.
Is this how all Galaxy models work? This is my first Samsung Android phone so pardon the question is this is obvious to others.

This is a Good Thing. It's a LOCK screen. Anything that changes the device SHOULD be locked out until you get past the lock screen (and whatever security you have in place.)

I asked because this is the first Android device I've had that behaves this way. My Nexus and Sony devices allow toggling those functions from the lock screen. While I appreciate your opinion I'm interested to know if this is a Samsung feature and if there's a way to change it.

This is also the first I've had that does this - including a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (still on lollipop.) It always annoyed me that I had my screen locked with a fingerprint, but anyone could toggle wifi, bluetooth, NFC, and all kinds of other things that impact functionality when my device is supposed to be locked.
This might be something in android 6, or it might be something Samsung is doing for android 6. (I don't have another device with MM, so I can't answer that.)
Edit: one interesting thing is that you CAN turn off wifi, etc from the lock screen pull down IF you don't have a secure lock screen (or if the lock screen is bypassed via smart lock.)

Maybe that's it, I use the fingerprint lock. I am able to work around it by using PowerToggles but it seems redundant to add toggles to a lock screen that already has toggles. Oh well, at least I can do it.
For my work I am constantly turning flight mode on and off, prior to OS update last night, I could toggle flight mode while screen locked. Now when I toggle it on or off, it asks for my finger print/ code, which is very annoying, as I don't want to unlock phone, and I have to re-lock it, even more annoying. Why the change? And how do I get it back to toggle it while locked?
Sorry to reopen this but there is any solution to this?On my wife´s s6 edge plus with latest android 7.0 can on/off toggles without asking about fingerprint/code...

If you are rooted, you can edit the toggles with something like GravityBox (be warned though, Samsung devices don't like when certain SystemUI items are removed or blocked). For some reason, you HAVE to have a minimum number of toggles on 6.0 Samsung phones. You can't remove all of them, but you can change the order in which they appear. I can confirm I can toggle WiFi and etc from my lock screen as well. Though I don't really have an issue with it as I rarely keep anything worth something to me or anyone else on my devices. I don't even have bank accounts or credit cards linked to any device so this really doesn't bother me. I figure if you can lock and or erase your device remotely, if it goes missing, that's good enough for me.
the setting you are looking for is on my S8 in Settings / secure lock settings / lock Network ans security
this allows you to either enable or disable flight mode on the lockscreen
I forgot my password
To recover my password, I have a Samsung account and a Google Account, but I can not connect to Wi-Fi or Data.
Every time I try to turn on Wi-Fi or data, Samsung asks for my password.
How can I turn on Wi-Fi or my data?

I've been browsing for answers on this for a while now and could not find any definitive sources, so here I am.
First off, I'm no pro when it comes to this stuff, though I've learned a heck of a lot about rooting, flashing, etc. Currently, I'm running stock version of the Idol 3 Android (6045Y) and absolutely loving the bloatless experience as opposed to the terrible Cricket Wireless version.
I'm searching for information on how to go about flashing a custom lock screen to replace the default one. I'm not looking for a lock screen app, at least not exactly. Apps tend to just "cover up" the current lock screen so when you wake your phone, it's technically already unlocked before you even swipe to unlock the phone. I know this is possible, but I don't want to blindly be flashing stuff that's going to render my phone useless, so my questions are:
- What lock screens are able to be flashed with the stock Idol 3 ROM? I want to make sure it's 100% compatible to avoid any issues that will make me have to start the process over or anything.
- What folders/files am I replacing and/or deleting in order to make whatever lock screen I want the "default" lock screen?
- Are the lock screen apps from the play store able to be used as a "default" lock screen at the developer level and not just a "cover up" for the stock lock screen?
Not sure what I'm forgetting to ask so if anybody wants to elaborate with their answers, it would be greatly appreciated!

I'm wondering if there is any way to use Android pay without a secure lock screen. I currently have magisk and can get Android pay working, it's just that I hate having a secure lock screen.
Ideally, I'd like to keep the "swipe" lockscreen and have Android pay working.
If there's a better forum, let me know. Thanks!
The best I can say is using smart Lock. I use my citizen smart watch - as long as it's connected, no secure lock. You can use location, face matching, on body detection (so until it's still and flat on a table). All usable without root. The only thing that can stop this from working is an exchange policy from something like a work email account.
