Hello, I am in search for an Android HU but every time this brings me a headache. I can't reach to a conclusion for which is best. I was looking for an Eonon GA2164 with 2GB ram which I think is MTCD but I do not know which MCU, and also that CPU seems very old.
Here in the forums I see that the best choice for now may be a MTCD with PX5 and 2GB ram. However I am looking for something "less Chinese" (joying, xtrons, dasaita, etc) and from EU warehouse so I can't buy from aliexpress or from the most sellers on ebay that ship from China. I need a HU with lots of unofficial support, full RCA outputs (front, rear, sub), analog steering wheel input and I prefer a physical volume knob instead of touch buttons.
Can you suggest something that I could check out?
Thank you!
PS: the xtrons TB706PL is PX5? If yes, the only downside I can find is that it only has touch buttons in the front, which is not good while driving...
I had a similar dilemma
I wanted PX5 HU due to Malaysk ROM >> not Joying
best would be HU from Dasaita, but they haven'ẗ EU warehouse
I finally chose TB706APL (PX5, 2GB RAM) from Xtrons due EU warehouse (but their official support is tragic)
I use the buttons on the steering wheel >> I don't miss the physical buttons on the HU
What do you mean by tragic support? You mean for the official FW updates? Or for warranty/returns, contacting, tech issues?
From what I have seen while I was trying to get answers for some headunits, I could easily consider Eonon's support the best (for tech issues and answering questions. Also for defective devices they accept returns at the EU warehouse!). Joying's support for updates seems good and also good for contacting them but they told me that if I have any problem with the unit, I have to sent it to China. But Eonon haven't released any new hardware, and Joying has Intel Sofia.
What about Intel Sofia? I have seen some threads here but I think there is not so much support as PX5. Am I right?

I don't know about an alternative ROM for Intel Sofia, but maybe I'm wrong
I think that on XDA is more support for PX5
Thanks for the info, this unit seems very nice, even with the stock rom as I can see in videos.
May I ask you some questions about this device?
1) In the official store I see TB706PL. Not TB706APL. Are those the same?
2) Because I can't find installation manual in their website so I can't see what cables are on the back side, is there any cable for brightness dimming when turning on the lights? The Night Mode setting depends on the clock's hour, or when you turn on the lights it dims the display to the pre-set Night Mode level?
3) Have you tried to connect OBD2 reader? I have a vGate OBD so I do not want to buy xtrons... Does it support 3rd party OBD, or just the xtrons?
Edit:
I found some schematics on the net and I can see that the xtrons unit doesn't have any ILL (illumination) cable for dimming, SW (steering control), Reverse control.... How do you connect steering wheel resistance based cables? And reversed camera control cable for enabling it when you go in reverse?
+1 for hotaudio.. seems to be the only active manufacturer on here

hmm yeah Dasaita seems nice, and also has for my vehicle a 10.1 inch PX5 unit ready to install on my car like OEM appearance.
Tha official store is in aliexpress only? Damn I can't buy from China so expensive item... These months in my country, customs are going crazy! That is why I need EU warehouse.
But between Joying, xtrons, eonon there is no unit that seems to have everything I want! Every one of them has pros and cons.
And now I just realize that maybe I posted in the wrong forum, because now I am talking generally for headunits and not just for MTCD. haha but anyway firstly I wanted to find out which MTC /MCU is more supported and is more future proof (faster CPU, more RAM). So we are concluding to PX5 2GB? Are all of the PX5 chipsets in the MTCD category? Only the MCU are different between the manufacturers?

I don't use stock ROM from Xtrons, I use Malaysk ROM
point 1 - they renamed this unit from TB706APL to TB706PL, in my order was TB706APL, but I do not see any difference
point 2 - in my country is mandatory daytime running lights, so I did not look for something that, I'm sending a wiring diagram, maybe you'll find it there, I'm not sure how this is solved
point 3 - i have old OBD2 reader from China ($4-5) and it works, but Its name must be OBD (OBD2), I ordered in China the second piece because I could not find the original before, If it will have the correct name, I can send a link
point 4 (edit)
- ILL (illumination) cable for dimming - in wiring diagram number 13 - now i find, I forgot to connect it (I have to fix it, thank you )
- SW (steering control) - i have steering control with two cables, first is pointed to KEY1 (number 3) and second to ground (number 15)
- And reversed camera control cable for enabling it when you go in reverse? - number 5 (CAM-IN) for video cable, number 6 (CAM-LINE) for cable connected to return light - when reverse gear is selected, the rear camera automatically turns on

Wow thank you for that! Yesterday I found a wiring that didn't show all that.
So now if you connect the ILL to your light switch I think that the HU will dim when you turn on the switch. DRL maybe doesn't matter, they are turned on without the light switch being on. (can't be 100% sure because I do not have in my car) Maybe the OEM connector on your car have this cable already. Mine for example was dimming the stock HU when I was turning on the lights switch, so there is an ILL cable on the connector.
For OBD, the name of mine V-LINK in bluetooth devices. If it is found in bluetooth search, it can't connect if it is not named "OBD"? This doesn't make sense. Even not on Malays rom?
I have problems with other cheap no brand Chinese OBDs that I have tried so changing to an other OBD is not an option for me
Hi without a doubt, the best radio is dasaita px5
good quality and great support

problems and disadvantages everywhere... That is why everytime I am searching for a headunit, I finally quit and don't buy anything haha
Damn... Hot-Audio seems to have a unit that appears the same as xtrons, and it is cheaper and as you say they have better support. But I can't buy it Maybe the whole device is the same and only the MCU and the Android Launcher is different. Will the xtrons have a lot of differences from Hot Audio? I can install the same roms (for PX5), the only different will be the MCU updates. Am I right?

according to what I read here, the differences should also be in the quality of processing, Hot Audio (Dasaita) should be top, Xtrons should be a little worse
but here are brands that are waste too
yes, you can install the same ROMs (for PX5) on PX5 HU from brands Xtrons, Dasaita, ... you can install ROM from Dasaita (update.img) on Xtrons's unit
MCU update should be updated only from your brand, but there are forum members who try to combine it, I don't have the courage to do it

I talked to them on AliExpress. They offered me to put a value of 50usd on the invoice. However in my country especially since the beginning of 2017 they try to take as much more money they can so they do not care about the paperwork. They easily can ignore the invoice, search on the internet for the product and put whatever value they want... They do not even ask the customers for the paypal invoice. Also it can stay at the airport for 1 or 2 months... So I can't buy from Dasaita. The next option is xtrons but I am reading in other thread for problems on some MCUs and I am afraid that maybe my xtrons have a crappy MCU. Do they always send the same hardware for the same HU model?

Well, I asked them but they are not telling me. First they told me "The MCU is STM32F091VCT"
And after I asked again to give me the manufacturer (GS, etc) they told me Sorry we can't give you that.
Your TB706APL is GS? I also asked them what are the differences between TB706PL and TB706APL and told me that it is actually the same as APL, just a tiny bit shorter, less than 1cm. I guess they just changed the casing. But how the hell am I going to be sure it will be GS if they can't provide me with this info? Crappy company I assume.

yes, my TB706APL is GS
my HU is also shortened compared to previous versions, I think they say nonsense

I see... So either they changed something on the PCB and made it smaller, or they do not know what they are talking about. Good job xtrons
I have no problems with my xtrons. First I had an Erisin with Dualcore processor, then a Pumpkin with a Quadcore processor and now the xtrons with the Octacore. On every previous unit i had problems (most problems with the Pumpkin), but the xtrons runs very fast and without any little problem. The support is also great. I`ve bought the unit via ebay and after a month I`ve asked for the bill. 10 hours later I had a bill.
Only the sound quality (especially over bluetooth) and the DAB signal reception was minimal better on the Pumpkin HU. But overall I would defenitely recommend a xtrons
Hi all:
I'm fighting to get my steering wheel controls to work with my MRCD XRC PX3 Radio (Bought from Hizpo, a 2 DIN Nougat 7.1 unit). I have bought an ASWC-1 and hooked it up as per instructions for my Civic 2012, but I'm not successful in programming my radio. The "Steering Wheel Control" app that's installed opens up a blank screen with "reset" and "save". No other buttons are displayed. It is my understanding there should be functions listed, and I should press each that I want to program before pressing the buttons on my steering wheel. Is there something trivial I am missing?

Is your car CAN Bus ? Does it have resistive or CAN Bus SWC ? Did a CAN Bus decoder come with the unit ?
Thanks for the reply @typos1
I figured it out after much tinkering. The car is apparently CANBUS. I had to select the proper CANBUS protocol from the "126" factory settings menus. The issue was that I wasn't resetting my ASWC-1 after choosing a new protocol. Changing protocol on the radio apparently changes the type of radio the ASWC-1 detects, hence the need to reset the ASWC-1 and re-detect the radio.
In the end it was a lot of tinkering just to be able to change volume and skip songs from the steering wheel! I mean it's not like the radio is very far
Now I'm debating wether it's worth hanging myself upside down to get to the bluetooth wire in the glove-box to be able to use the phone control buttons as well.

So you bought a universal unit without a CAN Bus decoder then ? Its pretty useful to be able to control stuff without taking your hands off the wheel. Dont get what you mean about the BT wire ?

I'm not sure. The radio has Key1 and Key2 wires, but there is no documentation about what they expect to be connected to. The ASWC-1 is a unit that is supposed to take the car control signals and convert them to something compatible with the radio. It may very well be that I didn't need the ASWC-1 if I had found the proper setting on the Radio, but there's more than a 100 possible settings. I'm happy to leave it like that now that it works!

The ASWC-1 supports the phone bluetooth controls (dial, on hook and off hook) on the steering wheel as well, but they feed from a different wire that is not available on the factory radio harness. I need to access it from a location above the glove box that is really hard to reach.

All radios have key 1 & 2. I know what the ASWC is, but, unless you bought a universal unit you shouldnt have needed it because the CAN Bus decoder that came with the unit should automatically set up SWC including the phone controls. Have you got a picture of your unit and did it come with a CAN Bus decoder ?

No, go through all the CAN Bus options in factory settings and check out all the Honda ones that may be relevant, (you can also arrange by manufacturer), then search Aliexpress for CAN Bus decoders for 2012 Civics made by the listed manufacturers (Raise, Union etc).
Hey guys I have a question regarding sort of the same issue. Mine did come with the decoder box also and all the the wires were plug and play. My issue is my back up camera isn't working and my steering controls aren't either. I connected my main OEM harness into the one that came with the unit and then that one into the new unit. There are two other wires on the same harness that I don't know where they plug into. The harness itself is T shaped, I'm assuming it connects to the steering controls somehow but idk...installed in a 2014 CTS....

The reverse wire is standard for all car head units Android or not, you have a wire on each end of the video RCA lead and one goes to the reversing light and the other to the wire marked "reverse" (or "back", "backsight" if its in Chinglish!) on the head unit, this is how the head unit knows that the car is in reverse.
Sorry, dont understand what this bit means : "from LL and LH fory vehicle".

Hi there,
I'm trying to install one of the Dasaita PX5 headunits in my new QASHQAI and I've hit a snag. Two of the connectors on the wiring harness included with the unit are identical, but have very different wires coming out of them. I assume they are dependant in your cars factory setup, but since my unit didn't come with any sort of instructions I'm at a loss as to what they are.
My car has the small colour LCD from factory, with a factory rear camera (not the 360 camera) and front/rear parking sensors. Standard manual AC controls (not dual climate).
Any guidance would be appreciated!
I would assume that the "Low Plug" is for cars with low a equipment variant (as you can tell from the cables going into the connector already) and the other one is for cars with a more stuff.
So as of your cars description I would say go with the medium one and test it out.
Yep, I had a better look at the existing wiring loom today and the wires matched pretty well.
Decided to give it a try and it works brilliantly!
Factory rear camera and steering wheel controls all work, and I swear the audio quality using on board apps is better than the factory unit.
Hello, is it an android 8.0 unit ? If yes, does bluetooth works ?
This unit runs Android 6.0. There are 8.0 upgrade guides floating around but I honestly haven’t had the time or inclination to try it, the unit is working really well as is.
Bluetooth phone calls work great.
Bluetooth audio streaming works but I’ve used it maybe once briefly (I do all music and streaming directly on the headunit) so I cant really comment on how well audio works.
Ok thanks, I'm considering byuing a dasaita but I heard bluetooth doesn't work with android 8.0 units !

Have you connected the reverse trigger wire? I *think* its pink in color.. or blue. You'll probably have to splice it. This trigger is connected to your reverse gear, so that when you are in reverse, the screen will switch to camera.

hi mitchello,
I have the same car radio model, I have a question about the cable connection for the rear camera, I have a yellow cable from the power cable called cvbs, and two yellow cables on the camera aux cable, one says Aux Video In and the other Cam VIN, to which should I connect the Cvbs cable?
?

Hey mate, I'd have to pull out my unit to check, but I'd expect you connect it to the CAM IN connector. The White/Red RCAs should be for the AUX input in the armrest, and the yellow RCA for the camera.
I assume you have a factory camera yes? With it all connected my factory camera automatically flicks on when in reverse (even if the unit is still booting).

thank you for the answer, CVBS don't work
it's 2015 Qashqai
I'm really drawn to this head unit for my 2017 Rogue SL AWD. My current non-Android Auto/Car play unit is basically just a bluetooth steamer. The built-in maps are so slow, outdated, cumbersome and without helpful traffic info that I simply use Google maps. This new unit looks sharp and allows full functionality without paying Nissan that crazy monthly fee.
I'm in 100% if I can more or less just do a swap out.

I bought mine from Ali Express ( Dasaita 10.2 - PX6 Android 9 ) and shipped to Australia in 5 days, I couldn't be more happier with the head unit.
All the Qashqai functions operate including the 360 all round camera, TPMS, Android auto and Carplay.
Hello All
I have dasaita px6 installed on my Qashqai as well
I want to know external MIC location best place as the built-in MIC was good initially then it became poor
Installed external MIC under the steering wheel but still voice is far
Hi all, i have Nissan Qashqai 2018 and i just few days ago i got my Dasaita PX5. Everything looks fine and work very well, but I am little bit concerned about noise which is coming out from device. Every time when I accelerate I am getting some kind of whistling noise coming out from device. Noise sometimes disappears but than come back again and started to be very noise. I tested and its coming from screen device, only disappears when I unplug the big black plug (which I think it is a main electrical socket or power supply because without that is not working). Do you guys have any similar issues before? Do you have any suggestions how to fix same one?
Second question is regarding to the SWC option. I connected everything how they did suggest but still is not working. I did choose proper settings on display and still nothing changed. I tried to contact support but until today no answer.
All help is more than welcome

Do you have any pics you wouldn't mind sharing? Also, this is several months later, so... how do you still like it?
Thanks!

Had the HU for over a year now and it's faultless, everything just works i.e Factory Park Assist, 360 all round camera, GPS,DAB+.
Also I have the Carlinkit Carplay USB dongle which for me works every time with no issues where others have issues with inbuilt Carplay HU using ZLink.
Does anyone have a better or updated app for the built in PX5 TPMS feature/software? I'm running a newly purchased 4/32gb octacore px5 (branded XTRONS 9" Octa-Core Android 8.0 Car Head Unit GPS Stereo DAB+ 4G for BMW E46 M3) with a 9in screen running Android 8.
I've just installed the internal replacement valve TPMS sensors on mine and the TPMS module itself. Having issues with reception (2 out of 4 sensors reading) and the box that's installed, but apparently it doesn't want to be near other electrics so I will move it up the dash towards the vents to fix that as I believe it's a radio reception issue.
The app seems to lack functionality though, I can't see how to pair a new sensor, say for example a spare wheel addition or replacing a wheel. The app also seems to forget it I swap the sensor positions (front and rear right sensors were put on the wrong rims by the tyre shop), I have swapped the front to the rear and after a fresh startup of the head unit after parking the car it's then forgotten that I swapped sensor positions.
Does anyone have a better version of the APK at all?
Is it a USB TPMS unit or does it connect directly to one of the connectors on the back of the radio?
If it is directly connected, try going into Factory Settings and change the TPMS type. Each type runs a different app and some are better than others.
If it is a USB unit, I have a few apks that came with my generic unit that might prove helpful.

Got the same issues with one of the sensors being a replacement and not detected by the box.
Has anyone figured out how reprogram it so it accepts the new sensor?
That learning feature when you press the button in the app doesn't seem to do anything - it just fails after some waiting.
The sensors have an unique id code written on them? Does the code need to be entered in some config file?
Hi yes it is a common problem for me but when the vehicle is moving the sensor reads fine
Hello to everybody. I have a problem with tpms... I need a apk file for install the app. because I don't have on my stereo and I don't know why. someone has a original file ?

Hi,
I have a px5 android 9 unit. I also have oem PDC sensors, which was working on the OEM nav screen (there were an icon of my car with the range of an object)
My question is : on my android HU this no longer works, but I know that on some HU like vorkswagen android HU this works.
So is there a way to use the "vehicle.apk" from an HU where it is working and to install it on my unit? (I believe it is working with the vehicle.apk right?)
Thanks for anwering me!
Is your unit an MTCD and What does the reseller suggest?
Yep, it is a MTCE, MTCE_MX_V3.30_1 more precisely!
And my reseller don’t seems to be well informed about what he’s selling..
He told me that it should work, but then I told him that it doesn’t work when I tried he replied that yep, it doesn’t work :silly:

Did you try changing the CAN bus address? Usually it's a physical dip switch.
Sent from my SM-G985F using Tapatalk
Hmm can you tell me more information about that?
I use a head unit specifically designed for my car, and with a specific canbus decoder too, there isn’t any dip switch on it (it’s just a pcb in a red plastic box)
