Wifi Display status is not stored (BV9900) - General Questions and Answers

Hello there,
On my rom the cast setting "enable wireless display" on is not stored persistent.
the status/setting is stored in /data/system/users/0/settings_global.xml
After a reboot, the setting is disabled.
Is there a way to set it permanently?

Hint: Add ROM in use to this thread's title thus mainly people also running this ROM get addressed.

Soo, i've found the file where the settings stored.
Its /data/system/users/0/settings_global.xml
But this file is regenerated on every reboot
And the settings are reverted to a standard too.
I dont know where these standards are located.

treo 750 and the "built-in" ms voip client

hello all,
1. I have been unsuccessfully trying to install the ms voip client that's been deliberately cut out of all roms for 750's
I followed all the possible instruction sets similar to, say, here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401608&highlight=voip
Everything seems to install ok and you can even configure the thing to go through 3g, but it just doesn't want to actually start working.
Problem number one - no internet tab in phone settings
Problem number two - the today plugin is always in the "off" state.
My thoughts on this:
These problems might be coming out of the fact that 750's don't have wi-fi which seems to be the default behaviour for the voip client.
Also, according to here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa923501.aspx
hklm\comm\rtc\ doesn't look like it has enough settings
2. On top of it all i'd like to bring g.729 codec support to the attention.
All i've been able to dig up is that you have to put the .acm file in the right place -> add some registry settings:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\CODEC_G729]
"Prefix"="ACM"
"Dll"="g729.acm"
"Order"=dword:0
"Flags"=dword:2
-> and then configure the use somewhere in \\hklm\comm\rtc\
Has anyone successfully installed and used it?
Let's bring all these things together so it all starts making sense.
Thank you for your time.
I have the same problem.
No matter what I install, the "internet" option never becomes available in the phone settings.
I believe this may have to do with "PLMOCPL.cpl" being used as the phone settings CPL instead of "cplmain.cpl" on the Palm.
I have changed a setting under "HKLM>System>State>VoIP>Phone". I changed "Network Preferences" from 0 to 1, which i think is what the control panel does anyway.
Now instead of "Internet Calling: Off", I get "Pennytel: No Service".
Anyonw else come up with anything? Any way to edit the cpl to include the internet settings?

[Q] How to check/edit/repair (baseband) radio settings?

I screwed up my phone royally when I tried the Tasker 2G/3G action, and I ended up doing a complete nandroid restore. (I lost 2 weeks of data for a few apps, because I just forgot about the apps.) [NOTE: I had to put the phone into airplane mode to escape a com.android.phone FC loop. But then I couldn't access any radio settings from "Settings."]
Recently, I've been playing around with remote access apps. I think the latest one that I tried may have goofed up something. My mobile network seems to be wonky.
Ideally, I would love to have a diagnostic app that knows what's wrong, and fixes it. But either I can't find the right search terms, or no such app (or how-to) exists.
So, my question(s)...
How can I retrieve all of the radio settings?
What should the values be? (I assume this will be device/carrier specific.)
How do I change the settings, once I know which value is "wrong"?
Can settings be changed even when in Airplane mode?
Where are the settings stored in a nandroid (so I can do a partial restore)?
I need answers that are command line based (see note in 1st paragraph).
I'll use the info to make a backup/restore script, and if possible make it work for lots of phones.

[Q] Gingerbread GPS settings

Asking again: would one of you folks who have fast GPS locks with V21e PLEASE post the settings you have from the hidden menu? I'm still getting about 90-120 seconds for the initial lock, and I suspect that the reason mine is worse than yours might be that I fiddled with the GPS settings in the hidden menu a lot before I updated and the last values I set might be wrong for the Gingerbread software.
To review: press 1809#*999# and in the resulting list, select "GPS Test." What do you have for:
Use Extended Conf File
System Settings => Use XTRAS
System Settings => SUPL Setting => SLP Server Setting
and, within the latter, choose Edit from the menu and post the values of
slp address
port
certification file
TLS Setting
Thanks in advance.
I have fast GPS lock and do not have the Use Extended Config File checked.
SLP Server Setting is Google
sulp.google.com
port: 7275
Certification file is blank
TLS settings not checked
Make sure your cell or wireless is on, heard that helps. I also notice no start of lock until I start an app that uses GPS.
Thanks! Just a couple of follow-ups:
1) I assume that "sulp.google.com" is a typo for "supl.google.com"? (When I ping sulp.google.com, I get "unknown host," but supl.google.com works.)
2) Is "Use XTRAS" checked or unchecked?
Yes, a typo. SUPL
The Use XTRAS box is not selected
Okay, thanks again. Must be something else, then, as I have that exact config and still have a minimum of 75 seconds for the initial fix. That's not much of a problem; usually it takes me longer than the TTFF interval to get the address entered in and start up navigation, but it would be nice to have it faster. Oh, well.

[Q] Get list of all settings available (even custom ones)

Hello,
I am having issues with a rom for a mini pc (Rikomagic Mk802 II).
Last firmware seems fixing a lot of issues, but there's just one bug.
When some app needs to access to microphone, it changes a setting (Audio Output, available in settings app).
To make audio in&out work, I have to manually access to settings and set it back to the proper value.
I would like to write a simple service that observes this setting and sets it back to a specific value. It will need surely root permission.
This class can help me in finding the setting? http://developer.android.com/reference/android/provider/Settings.System.html
I can make a query on the contenturi selecting all the settings and obtaining the right one?
Any advice?
I managed using the content uri of Settings System class.... I have all the values, but putting a value is not triggering the configuration change.

modify wpa_supplicant.conf

I have a Wiko Pulp, Android 5 rooted.
Its broadcast senseless its manufractor/name/model in Broadcast frames.
Cause it makes traffic(even if already connected) and for privacy i want to modify /data/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf.
I can do that cause im root. But if i turn off or turn on wifi the values reverted.
Tryed too to edit, remove battery and restart but this dont help(original file seems not to be in RAM and reverted from there)
I can writeprotect the file but then wifi dont get startet anymore. Setting rights to wifi/wifi didnt help(default system/wifi).
There is too /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf but that isnt used cause there the Manufracturer is "MediaTek Inc." and not Wiko.
Then there is /etc/wpa_supplicant_overlay.conf i can edit and they stays, but i cant overwrite or add settings with it.
Seems some linux typical unused file.
Question is who is touching my Files? Where this revert comes from, there must be somewhere(where?) a copy of it or a script that write back the header? Is it possible to start wpa_supplicant with another(other place) wpa_supplicant.config and still add new networks? Doesn know who add the networks. Or somebody know how to patch wpa_supplicant binary to use "passive_scan=1"
