Hypatia is the worlds first FOSS malware scanner for Android. It is powered by ClamAV style signature databases.
Features:
- Near zero battery impact: you'll never notice any impact on battery at all
- Extremely fast: it can scan small files (1MB) in <20ms, and even large files (40MB) in 1000ms.
- Memory efficient: with the default databases enabled it uses under 120MB.
- Regular scan: allowing selection of /system, internal storage, external storage, and installed apps
- Realtime scanner: can detect malware in realtime on write/rename in internal storage
- Completely offline: Internet is only used to download signature databases, files will never ever leave your device
- Persistence: will automatically restart on boot/update
- Tiny codebase: coming in at under 1000 sloc, it can be audited by even someone with basic programming experience
- Minimal dependencies: the app only uses libraries when necessary
- Signature databases can be enabled/disabled at the users demand

Well cheers thank you for this
nice found i am using
Hi,
First of all, thank you very much for the Hypatia scanner for Android. It is very nice to see an open-source scanner!
I tested it on my Nokia 8.1 with Android 11 and the real time protection. But unfortunately, it did not bring any message when I downloaded the EICAR test file or the Hypatia test PNG although I had downloaded all the databases.
Moreover, during the file system scan, Hypatia only detected the Hypatia test PNG, but not the EICAR test file.
Just for your information

This is probably the issue, if you enable the MAIN or DAILY databases the app is very likely to not work due to memory issues. Try just using it with the default databases.

Thank you for your reply.
I have tried it again: Default setting, once with ClamAV Android Only, once with ClamAV Main only, once with ClamAV Daily and once with Eset only.
The realtime malware scanner didn't work. Both for Hypatia test PNG and EICAR test file.
At least the manual scan worked with Hypatia test PNG, but also not detected the EICAR test file.
Same here. Avast detected both Eicar.zip

Hi!
I'm stupid, it had no permission to read all files on Android 11 and higher.
It is fixed in the latest update, already on my F-Droid repository. Should be on the f-droid.org repo in a few days.

Thank you for reporting.
Thanx for the fix. Any progress on delete on detection ?
I'm sorry that version of today is the same. With standard database and all databases. Eicar files just download and open. No warning. Bummer ..

Can you test with eicar.com.txt, not eicar.zip?

Can you confirm you're on the latest version v2.27?
Ah.. Oké.. Only first Eicar file warns. Other 3 files don't. Why not ?

eicar.com and eicar.com.txt should be detected.
eicar_com.zip is eicar.com zipped which won't be detected
eicarcom2.zip is ecar_com.zip zipped which won't be detected
Hypatia is only a basic signature based scanner and doesn't inspect contents of files.
As in, it hashes a file and checks if the hash is known bad. It does not decompress any files.
It's usefullness is genuinely quite limited, but still functional.

Those options only apply to the on-demand manual scan.
The real-time scanner only scans internal storage.
So .. after a few months I wanted to test Hypatia again. Downloaded your test .png which gave alert. But.. scan on default databases says No database, no scan. Can you have a look ?
Funny .. Eset doesn't detect test.png
Follow up: on my backup phone Nokia 8.1 with Arrow13 scan runs. On my daily phone Poco x3pro with Lineage19 I removed Hypatia, rebooted, reinstalled and still no scan. Dunno ...
Edit: scan worked suddenly. Test.png not found during scan.

You can use this one as well

No cables needed
Very similar to Awesome Drop you can find HERE.
Info from the Android Market page:
Access your files from everywhere
MobCable is a simple and powerful tool, designed to let you access the content from your phone's storage, from everywhere.
* View content from your phone, using a web browser.
* Works even without a Wi-Fi connection.
* Download, upload files or delete files on your phone.
* Download zip files, with multiple files.
* Supports file transfers, without Wi-Fi connection.
* Auto detects if your phone is available, using local Wi-Fi connection.
*View thumbnails, before downloading files.
Install the app, open www.mobcable.com in a browser on a computer and enter the connection code, displayed on your phone.
The MobCable website auto detects if a direct link can be created between your phone and browser, using Wi-Fi. If not, it will use your phone's Internet connection and the mobcable.com website as a proxy.
For security reasons, the connection code can only be used from one computers IP-address. Connection code and
content on MobCable.com are removed, when the phone's last communication with MobCable.com exceeds 15 minutes.
The MobCable app uses your phone's Internet connection, make sure you are connected to a Wi-Fi network or have a flat rate or high traffic subscription, before using MobCable.com
Tested on HTC Legend, HTC Desire, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Galaxy S2

gr8 idea.. very useful
Very disappointed with this app because:
1. The code is changed every time you use it, so you cant save the code.
2. Everytime the phone is rotated, the code automatically changed, making it disconnect.
3. Its not a simple file manager, just shows all files in one list, takes the P1$$

1) It's much more secure to generate a random code every time. I am sure you can see why this is...
2) I experienced this as well, not sure why, but you can obviously avoid this by just keeping the phone in one position .
3) What were you expecting? It's something that is online on a web page, it can't really be a full featured file manager.
this is much better, been here the longest

Nice!! I've always used File Expert it's only 1.7MB and with it you can share files across FTP, enable web sharing, but I mainly use it to access my shared network files on my Windows PC and as a general file explorer. It's regularly updated too!

Well, the developer has been in touch with me, he has put out an update that fixes the rotating problem. He has also said he will work on adding support for re-using the same code, and will put a treeview on the file manager

How do you run them. I tried running the whitelist app and it said it can't run on RT, and to visit the store. Does my Surface need to be jailbroken first.
Um... yes, of course it needs to be jailbroken; the whole point of the jailbreak is that you can't run third-party EXEs (i.e. ones not from Microsoft) otherwise.

By default it will be overwritten. But you can add custom filters within the dnsfilter.conf (see filter.host = true|false settings).
Alternativly it is possible to disable the automated filter download so that the FILTERHOST.TXT won´t be overwritten.
Just check dnsfilter.conf file for details. It contains a good documentation of the different settings.
Sorry, these might be some dumb questions, but really trying to get this to work on an Android phone running 7.1.1:
1) do I need to check "Advanced settings" in order for those settings to work? If I don't check it, I can't scroll down to view the logs, unless I'm missing something
2) Also, any reason why some of my custom entries in the "Advanced settings" doesn't work? (I put in entries to be filtered and those are still allowed in the log and entries to be allowed, but those are still blocked.) I've hit Reload filter and Restart and sometimes it works, but more often it doesn't.
3) Lastly, any reason why other times my entire "Advanced settings" erases? How can I get those entries to persist?
Thanks for putting this app together, hopefully once I know what's going on I'll be able to use it much better.

Yes .... better edit the dnsfilter.cfg file. In addition: the advanced settings within the GUI only allows to edit the filter URL and reload interval. In case invalid values are added, it will be reset to the previous valid entries (Check for messages in the log area)

Warden
Disclaimer:
Code:
Warden uses root permission to enable/disable components & de-bloat.
Use at your own risk!
Features:
Detects Trackers & Loggers across whole device
Allows to disable all trackers/loggers
Advance profile based app de-bloater
How does it work?
Warden has a static curated list of known trackers (Exodus Privacy) , each app's dex file is read to retrieve the class names, these class names are then matched with the signatures of known trackers & loggers to find them.
A list of currently known trackers & loggers can be found here & here
Loggers in the context of Warden means all utilities which are used to log user activity on an app or logcat in general. Not all loggers are evil.
But few logging tools like ACRA, xLog are very powerful tools that can send user data to devs without user's consent.
So do read the app's Privacy Policy, beforehand.
De-Bloater (Requires Root)
Warden provides a profile based de-bloater where a profile is created in a format specified as in this sample scripts
You need to place this profile/your custom profile at `ExternalStorage/Warden/Profiles` to make them appear in app.
De-Bloater is an experimental feature, will improve it over time.
Default action for debloating is 'disable' you can configure it to 'uninstall' or 'hide' from settings.
Nuke it! (Requires Root)
Nuke it! is another experimental feature that scans all apps on the device and disables all know tracker components automatically.
It also gives an option to export components names per-app basis.
Components here means: Activities, Services, Providers & Receivers
Warden uses `su pm` to manage the components.

Good job
Great job! Thanks for sharing.
Beautifully designed app. One question. Is there an option to undo the "nuke it " feature?
Scanning of system apps hangs on this one: com.oneplus.telephonyoptimization

So does this app so more than adaway?

Read OP. Logers and trackers are not same as ads. Apps can have hardcoded IPs of ads, logers, trackers, etc. Adaway can't help you with this. Apps like Warden or XPrivacyLua can help you by stopping "evil" actions in apps like apps from Google store.
Good luck.
It gets stuck scanning some apps like VLC
Edit: uninstalled VLC and got stuck at com.google.android.apps.pdfviewer
very interesting app!
thank you
Very good. Suggestion: report should indicate which app has how many trackers and how many of those are still enabled?
Thank you for this very useful app! I've noticed that during the scan /data/data/com.aurora.warden/cache/oat folder becomes huge with a bunch of odex files. Scanning for nearly 200 apps takes more than a GB on that folder, before getting stuck on VLC. Is this normal?
Amazing app.
Congratulations!!!
MySafe is a safe storage of documents, cards, discount cards and notes on your phone. The application works offline and has a nice interface
The main difference from competitors
1. The application works completely offline.
All information that you add to the application is stored only on your device and is not shared with third parties.
2. Convenient and safe backup function.
To transfer information to another device, use the backup function (the backup is encrypted according to the AES-256 standard using the PBKDF2 key generation standard). With its help, you can easily recover your data without loss. All data is stored in the device's memory in local storage, which can only be accessed by the current app.
3. Lack of advertising and unnecessary functionality in the application.
Therefore, we simplified the functionality as much as possible and did not add advertising.
4. All information that you add to the MySafe is stored only on your device in encrypted form according to the standard AES-256 using the key generation standard PBKDF2.
The application is available in the following languages:
English
Russian
German
Spanish
Chinese (simplified)

This is what virustotal scan gives as a result. Any explanation?
Hmm, this is the first time I've seen this, to be honest, no one complained during the entire development period. Give me time and I will study this moment. Perhaps he swears at Yandex metrics or Firebase. You can still use the assembly from the play market, all applications are being tested.
Although I downloaded this assembly from the google play admin panel. I will study and give feedback.
I found this site with the best online antivirus
7 Best Online Virus Scanners for Files
A computer virus in the digital world is similar to any burglar or thief in the real world. Because of that, everyone who uses a computer or laptop has to
geekflare.com
Started checking from top to bottom. Of all the online antiviruses, only virustotal.com showed the presence. I will write to them and try to find out what is the reason, and what it could be of the libraries that require the presence of the Internet are Yandex and Firebase. All other solutions are native.
In that list I found an antivirus that aggregates everything https://virusscan.jotti.org
I'm attaching screenshots and I'll look into it further.
I found the reason, this is a new version of Yandex metrics, so I made an assembly with a lowered version and everything is ok. I'll be uploading an update soon.
New version 3.8.1
