No cables needed

Very similar to Awesome Drop you can find HERE.

Info from the Android Market page:
Access your files from everywhere
MobCable is a simple and powerful tool, designed to let you access the content from your phone's storage, from everywhere.
* View content from your phone, using a web browser.
* Works even without a Wi-Fi connection.
* Download, upload files or delete files on your phone.
* Download zip files, with multiple files.
* Supports file transfers, without Wi-Fi connection.
* Auto detects if your phone is available, using local Wi-Fi connection.
*View thumbnails, before downloading files.
Install the app, open www.mobcable.com in a browser on a computer and enter the connection code, displayed on your phone.
The MobCable website auto detects if a direct link can be created between your phone and browser, using Wi-Fi. If not, it will use your phone's Internet connection and the mobcable.com website as a proxy.
For security reasons, the connection code can only be used from one computers IP-address. Connection code and
content on MobCable.com are removed, when the phone's last communication with MobCable.com exceeds 15 minutes.
The MobCable app uses your phone's Internet connection, make sure you are connected to a Wi-Fi network or have a flat rate or high traffic subscription, before using MobCable.com
Tested on HTC Legend, HTC Desire, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Galaxy S2
# Updates in version 1.2
Support for local Wi-Fi connection
Auto detecting local Wi-Fi connection
Support for downloading Zip Files
Thumbnails, in Internet mode, is now on demand
Thumbnail size changed to 100x100 pixels

Thanks for the nice find!

gr8 idea.. very useful

Very disappointed with this app because:
1. The code is changed every time you use it, so you cant save the code.
2. Everytime the phone is rotated, the code automatically changed, making it disconnect.
3. Its not a simple file manager, just shows all files in one list, takes the P1$$

1) It's much more secure to generate a random code every time. I am sure you can see why this is...
2) I experienced this as well, not sure why, but you can obviously avoid this by just keeping the phone in one position .
3) What were you expecting? It's something that is online on a web page, it can't really be a full featured file manager.

this is much better, been here the longest

Nice!! I've always used File Expert it's only 1.7MB and with it you can share files across FTP, enable web sharing, but I mainly use it to access my shared network files on my Windows PC and as a general file explorer. It's regularly updated too!

WiFi Explorer beats them all I think.. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.dooblou.WiFiFileExplorer&feature=search_result

Well, the developer has been in touch with me, he has put out an update that fixes the rotating problem. He has also said he will work on adding support for re-using the same code, and will put a treeview on the file manager

[APP] Browser To Phone

Android Market: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.wiirecords.chrometophone
This app is entirely based on Chrome to Phone! It has the same features (and bugs, lol) as the original with some additional cool features! The original app is awesome and it deserves all the credits, this app is only adding more features!
Browser to Phone lets you process incoming links virtually anyway you want it:
* download anything to your phone, instead of just opening the link
* convert file to other formats (i.e. send a bmp link, convert it to jpg and then download it)
* apply wallpapers/ringtones (i.e. send an image link and apply it as wallpaper)
* open specific apps (i.e. send an appbrain link and open android market automatically)
* more and more!
There are plentiful preloaded processes to use. Send suggestions about new processes/commands by e-mail and if feasible, they will be added on the next update!
You may create custom processes for your needs, define when they should run and what they will do. As this is not a simple task, you may search the web for custom processes done by other users and import them.
Download Processes: http://www.thiagorosa.com.br/android/browsertophone/files.php
You need to install a browser Extension on your computer to send links to your phone. Each browser has its own extension and they can be downloaded from:
Google Chrome: http://chrome.google.com/extensions
Mozilla Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/foxtophone
Opera: https://addons.opera.com/addons/extensions/details/opera-to-phone

How does the REPEAT command work exactly?
I'm trying to create my own process and I need to wait a few seconds between commands, is there a WAIT (or similar) command?
I cannot seem to find the Chrome extension, would you help?
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search?category=ext&q=Browser+to+Phone
rhaige,
REPEAT has three parameters: regex, count, wait
The purpose of this command is to REPEAT the next command until the REGEX is returned. It will repeat COUNT times with a WAIT seconds interval between them.
tampiss,
It is the same extension from chrome to phone: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/oadboiipflhobonjjffjbfekfjcgkhco
Im trying it with the original extension, yet I always get error connection message. Normal Chrome to phone app works. Where can be a problem?
Where do you get this error message?
Is it on the android app? is it while connecting to your account?
or is it on the chrome extension?
thanks!
Yes, Im getting this message on Android app. I have just tried to uninstall Chrome to phone app and nothing changed. Even worse I have installed it back and now I can not connect on the official app too lol.
The same is happening to me now, it is probably an intermittent issue!
tampiss,
I was able to connect today! Please try again!
thanks!

Unfortunatelly not. The official app works again yet yours says the error while connecting. Im running Cognition ROM on Samsung GS2 if it helps.
tampiss,
I just tested again and both apps connect successfully!
There isn't any difference at all between the two apps during the connection. The only difference on Browser To Phone is that it processes links after they are received on the phone, nothing else!

Ive tried disconnecting the official app and then I was successful in connecting yours. Uff. Im gonna test it. Thank you for your help.
Hi. It works great. I can not seem to find the pro version in Android market. How can I purchase it? Thank you.
Never mind. I found out by adding custom profile
Ive purchased it. Thank you.
Cool! Thanks!!! =D
Hi,
- are there anywhere any custom processes findable on the web?
- how could I make simple process to parse clipboards content sent from my web browser?
- where are the files (such jpg, gif etc) downloaded? I can not seem to find them on the phone
- please, how to process the apk download? I have created the process, yet I would like to start the instalation as soon as its downloaded? any hints for the needed intent?
thank you am really enjoying playing with this cool app
1) i didn't find any yet... but you can export yours and let other people use it
2) what would you like to do exactly?
3) they are stored on the sd card, inside the download folder
4) you should use this:
action=android.intent.action.VIEW
type=application/vnd.android.package-archive
data=the apk file (example: file:///mnt/sdcard/download/abcde.apk)
This APK process should be similar to "Image to Wallpaper"!
Ok to the point 4. If i do not know the exact name of downloading apk, what should i use for data in the intent? Any replace or variable trick?
Edit: i got it working yay
The input will always be concatenated on the DATA field. So you probably don't need to do anything!
The input will be the output of the previous command. If the previous command is a HTTP_DOWNLOAD, the output will be where the file was downloaded. After that you should replace /mnt by file:// (check the Image to Wallpaper process)
Did you notice the unit test feature? (menu)
You can easily test without having to actually send the link to the phone. You setup a unit test link (http://www........./yourapp.apk) and you can long press each command to test it!
Yep I have noticed all of that and tested.
I may have another question
When downloading img from Chrome I always get the img downloaded as xxxx.jpg(125x210) which stands for the img size. Well when I look at the Chrome tab I see it in the title. Unfortunatelly it is downloaded and named as above so that to open the downloaded img I have to rename it first.
Any hint for replace or solution would be great.
Thank you.
Edit: I have found a bug. When sending any text it has a wrong encoding. I use special chars such ěřč yet they come to phones clipboard as mess.
About the bug, there is an open issue on chrometophone: http://code.google.com/p/chrometophone/issues/detail?id=318
Hummm, about the extension....
I think I will have to update the app to remove the dimensions...
For now you could create a REPLACE, something like this (i didnt test it):
Regex: \.jpg.*
Replacement: .jpg
Anyway, i will fix it on the next version!

Access SD card from another device

This thread shows how to channel your SD card through your wireless router, therefore making your SD card accessible from most devices (tested on PC, Android and iOS). Please note that your phone and the device must be connected to the same network.
1. Download and install File Expert (it's free) from the Android Market: https://market.android.com/details?id=xcxin.filexpert&hl=en.
2. Open File Expert and press the "Share" icon at the bottom of the screen.
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. Select "Enable WEB Sharing".
The IP and authentication info will be displayed. The URL (which is located in the third line) will be entered in the address bar of the browser in the other device. The username and password will also be required so please remember it ^_^
So on my phone it says "http://192.168.1.102:8080", so I type "http://192.168.1.102:8080" in the browser of another device.
Enter the password and done! You've accessed your phone's SD card from another device.
Please note:
1. This may not work on all devices, ranging from hosting the HTTP server to accessing the SD card from another device.
2. This may not work on all browsers as they may not have the specifications required to access the HTTP server.
3. The username/password can be changed in the File Expert settings or you can COMPLETELY disable any authentication.
3. The user and it's affiliates are NOT responsible for any damage caused physically and/or mentally
There are other apps in the Android Market that have the same function but I just use this. Suggestions are appreciated. Don't forget to 'Thank'
Wow... this rocks.. thank you for this.... God, i love tech... I just sent out a tweet to all
Cheers - very useful - the app came as part of the Gingerburst ROM I installed from Droidzone, so don't even have to install it
Hello!
This would be great, if it would work on my phone. Unfortunately it didn't. I tried it on an HTC Desire powered with MIUI, and after entering the URL in a browser of another android phone (and on a desktop comp), nothing happens. It may be a setting by me tho (probably on the router?), which I didn't find yet.
cheers!
Works great. Excellent app!
I have been using this File Manager App since I got my very first android phone. I don't know why people keep buying and recommending apps that work exactly the same way (or maybe even better for File Expert's case) but cost very high. Duh.
Great find, thanks
this also works using wifi tethering on the 1st mobile to create virtual hotspot and connect 2nd mobile to that hotspot
I tested that on 2 different cyanogenmod 7 devices
This is pretty slick. The current version also offers Bluetooth sharing support over OBEX FTP although that part is rather unstable on my laptop (crashes explorer for some reason). That isn't an issue with the app though. That's a known problem on my laptop that I don't know what's causing it.
I just tried this out - it looks great and the web sharing is incredibly easy to use, thanks!
Installed, and gonna try it tomorrow. I will leave you guys a feedback.

Tried using this but when I connect via either Web sharing or FTP sharing on my computer it just hangs there for a while and says a connection could not be established.
- Both my computer and Xperia X10i are connected to the same Wifi network
- I'm using WB-XPERIA TW Gingerbread Rom if that may account for anything
Configuration?

I have never came across this problem. You could try playing with the File Expert settings, enabling/disabling things and getting to a conclusion. It could be a problem with your ROM, your router or the compatibility with the app. I have noticed that the HTTP server closes when I change to another app (even though it says File Expert's still running). You could try using a different app from the market (there are loads), just type 'web sharing' in the Android Market and see what you get
You could try: https://market.android.com/details?id=nextapp.websharing&feature=search_result It has an awesome UI and easy to use

[PHP] [HTML] [MYSQL] Host a Website from your Android Device, for free!

Android Webserver / Webhost!
(This is taken from my blog article, if you want to see the article itself, click this link)
http://shanehastings.com/Blog/2012/08/host-a-website-from-any-android-device/
-------------------
So, if you're a web designer or HTML, PHP coder etc you'll know that paid hosting isn't cheap, and free hosting is too limited and un-reliable.
However, until recently there was no such thing as "portable hosting", free portable hosting that is (not that I know of any paid portable hosting?)
I've found a way to host any HTML (PHP & MySQL too!) website with images and Java Script support all from your Android device!
Now, this may seem un-reliable, but with a clean install of a ROM / Firmware with just the required app, and a charger plugged in, this is a pretty reliable hosting source.
However, I doubt you're going to see Google running from this any time soon, or any major website for that matter! Another factor of why you'd want to do this is, "simply because I can".
Some other good uses for this project are:
- Household / Private Webserver
- Public / Private Webspace
- Cloud Storage

- #1| Download "Boa Webserver" from Google Play.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.applications.boa&hl=en
- #2| Creating the directory
Using a file manager, create a folder and call it whatever you want. For the sake of demonstration, I will call mine "Electronics Website".

- #3| Adding Content
Now, we've got our directory but we need some webpages! Simply paste the HTML files into the directory you just created. You can create more directories inside the main directory (/sdcard/YourFolderName/)
- #4| Setting the default directory
Now, this is where we have launch "Boa Webserver".
Once the app is open, simple press "Menu" and then "Settings". Here we have the option to change the port in which Boa will broadcast on, and the directory to use as default.
This is what we want, so click on "Share Directory" and add the directory you created earlier.
- #5| Starting the Webserver / Website!
Starting the webserver / website is very simple. On the main screen of the Boa Webserver application, hit "Start Webserver".
This will start the webserver.
- #6| Viewing the website
When you start the server, Boa will tell you what the LOCAL IP is, this is located in the orange box at the top of your screen.
As you can see, when I goto the IP that is shown in the "Boa Webserver" app, I'm brought to my website!
PC:
Boa Webserver, showing the IP & Log:
- | A Note About Portforwarding
As many of you will know, to make your website available for the whole world to view you will need to portforward the port that Boa runs off of and also the IP in which your Android Device is connected to via your Wi-Fi (192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.3 etc)
You do NOT have to port forward if you are using this for private use (household use, people connected to your Wi-Fi)
- | Need PHP and MySQL?
No problem! Just use KSWeb Server instead! Same procedure, different app!

cloud servers
Not all paid servers for PHP are that expensive. You have cheap shared servers, though there are some performance issues with them. Some infrastructure based servers, like DigitalOcean are not that expensive considering the features you get. The only problem with such servers is the hassle of managing them. But this can also be avoided if you use some platform or a service that for server management, like Cloudways web hosting for PHP. This platform lets you launch a managed server on DigitaOcean and others.

Awesome man.. Great JOB, Rep added .
Very convenient and light app. much better than Airdroid.
AWESOMEEEEE MATE !!!! thats almost the perfect apk to drag and drop files from and to your device...
BUT :
- i would like to drag and drop files ( which are already in the phone ) from one folder to another, without clicking the box and click on "move". ( just like click and hold the item and drag and drop it to the folder )
- Media View is awesome, but really slow because it wants to show a little preview... thats my solution : the programm should only load the preview of the file, which you can see in the window you are scroling , not every file which you cannot see ....
- why dont you add some ads ? Who the hell cares ? You just need to ON/OFF the app, so nobody has to cry and you ll probably get some money for your hard work !
(sorry for that horrible english )
very nice app
Brilliant. Nicely implemented media playback although I'd prefer if I could play with a local app rather than inside the browser.
Could you make it work with a wired Ethernet connection as well as wifi? Thanks
The app is great I love it. I would however like it is there was a logout/sign out button, a way to clear recently uploaded files and get rid of the link to the app on the Play Store. Other then those changes the app is great. It does all I would ever really want it to do pretty quickly and easy to use too.
VNC server would be nice... otherwise it's almost the same as Airdroid.
Love the idea
Love the layout and design
Is there anyway to set it up to a computer that's using the same internet but is wired into the router as opposed to wirelessly?
I can't get it to connect because I don't have a wireless card on my PC.
what is different from airdroid?
can you add support for folder upload + drag/drag support for folder ?
thanks for dev this nice app
i will use and test it... befor this app i use wifi file transfer but this app looks be nicer!

IPCast
Hi guys I've recently updated the old WifiQR that now is called IPCast and I've added some great features:
IPCast allows you to send, receive and stream content, without need*cables, in a simple and easy way. IPCast operate through any Wifi network and between any device that has a browser installed. In fact it does not require any client installation.
IPCast previous called WifiQR now include this features:
● Send and receive any file.
● Send your installed apps.
● Display photo in the browser.
● Stream music and video in the browser.
● SoundBeam: To synchronize playback between devices (who said GroupPlay?). (Supported by Chrome Beta, Firefox, Opera).
● Create queues with video and audio file.
How to use it??
Simple: Select one or more files write the ip in the browser and finish .. downloads will begin automatically!
With this app you can now easily transfer trough any device that have a browser!!
Transfer file has never been so easy!
In addition IPCast allows you to send the link to send / receive through:
● NFC: By simply bring the devices together (typically back to back) and then touch the screen.
● QRCode: Using any QR code reader to scan the link or from IPCast built in reader.

Very Thank you to Will Verduzco for posting this app on XDA news page!
Edit: A new update with an help page and settings on the navigation drawer and some bugfix is rollying out
Pictures are better than words:
Looks great! If possible it would be cool to have a computer client, Mac one in my case.
How secure is it accessing information from the browser?
Can a device connected to the same network be a PC and not only a mobile device?
AirDroid was just ok and many features didn't work and now I ended up using ESfileExplorer to transfer files from my S4 to my PC.
Computer client would be very useful

From menu when I select App tap program stops responding and closes.
I'm on Dr.Ketons custom rom for Note3

Confused???
OK, I've installed it on Galaxy S3 Resurrection Remix ROM 5.1 but when I select a file, I just get an X at the top, doesn't seem to be any options where to send the file to?
I'm not dumb but it doesn't seem very intuitive? Maybe a quick tutorial would help?

1) Actually IPCast use http so it's better to transfer only on private network but in future I'think I will enable https. So will be secure also in public wifi hotspot .
2) Yes your device can be also a pc.(But at the moment client graphics is optimized for phone/tablet)

Yes, you can directly create an hotspot on the host itself.
Direct Download Link
please remember not everyone has access to the playstore, it will be better if you could post a direct download link over here or mirror from the play store.

I don't either, I use Evozi. Works on PC or device.
This is great! I have tried many of this but nothing comes close to this app. Congratulations on a job well done.
1- The app can't access my SD Card. I can see an SD symbol at the top right but touching it goes to device's all directories display,
2-When I select a directory to download to the app is only showing device storage, again no SD Card is displayed so I can direct the D/L there.
3-Being a file explorer the app is not accessing root directory. Can this access be extended beyond that?
I am using Note I717, BeanStalk KK 4.4.2 Rom
Edit:
4-I have a second i717 JB stock rooted, app is loading and showing broadcasting but it's not communicating with my laptop nor my other Note phone. I changed the port to 8081 on both laptop and phone but no work still. I changed back 8080 but same results. Yes the KK phone ipcast is turned off. But I just can't get it to work on my JB phone. Any ideas?
Also the same 3 questions from above are the same for this phone as well.
nice app
